Photos uploaded to my Web Gallery show up where in iPhoto??

I created a Web Gallery and asked my family to add to it - which they have done. I see the photos in iPhoto under the 'MOBILEME GALLERY' in the sidebar - but they are not in any of the Events. When I try to manually add the photo, it says it's already in the library?!!?
I have tried labeling the photos and then finding them via an iPhoto search, but they just aren't there.
Where does iPhoto put photos added via Web Gallery??

Yes - that was one of the 1st things I tried. I also gave the photos specific keywords only used on those photos, "yellow" for example. Searching photos for any photo having the keyword "yellow" shows no results.
If I right click on the photos in the MOBILEME GALLERY sidebar of iPhoto and click 'Show File' - it opens a folder named 'Jan 18, 2008', and the photos are sitting there.
Dragging the actual files to a new gallery gives the same warning, that the files are already in the library.

  • Others uploading to my web gallery

I was hoping someone here can help. I have set up a web gallery from imovie, where people can view my movies, but i was hoping that they could also upload to it and put their videos in. I thought this was possible, but for some reason, the upload button does not appear.
Have i got the wrong end of the stick, and its not actually possible, or am i missing something. If you can shed light on this, that would be great!

did you make yours in imovie or iphoto?
You may well be correct here. Test galleries were first duplicated in both applications for comparison purposes in earlier version, later deleted, and re-published by single application with "Upload" option selected to see what it would do. Last month the 2007 photos were archived to DVD and iMovie "events" were deleted (keeping Mini-DV tapes as archives) as part of my annual "Spring Cleaning" effort. All I really remember was being presented with the option to select the "Upload" option and using either a "Browser" and/or "E-Mail" application to allow relatives and "party goers" to add their own files but not one person elected to do so and I stopped including the option.

    Hi,
Please also double check the size of the photograph in AD, make sure the size not overtake 48 pixels by 48 pixels, as it has a serious limitation on the size and resolution of the photos: the thumbnailPhoto attribute can only hold a photograph with
a maximum size of 48 pixels by 48 pixels.

  • Is it possible to incorporate old photo albums into a Web Gallery?

I created 9 photo albums with the first iteration of iWeb. Now I'm using iWeb '08 and have been consistently adding new photos to an existing Web Gallery via iPhoto. But I'd like to import or add those older albums into the Web Gallery.
    Looking for answers...

Perhaps it would be better to just direct you to what I'm talking about.
Here is a URL to the site I maintain for our family photos and movies:
    http://www.Derners.ws
Along the top you will see navigation links to Web Galleries, Photo Albums and Movies. The Web Galleries were created as a result of iWeb 2.0 and the overall inclusion of the Web Gallery feature with iLife '08.
The Photo Albums and Movies however, were created back in iWeb 1. These are still online as standalone pages. What my original question alludes to are these Photo Albums. I want to pull the content of the Photo Albums and incorporate it into my Web Galleries, thereby having all of it in one place. So when I complete this process a visitor who browses Derners.ws will go directly to the Web Galleries. No more "Photo Albums", no more "Movies". Just one stop for viewing everything.
    Does that make sense?

  • Importing photos others have uploaded to my web gallery into my library

My web galleries seem to be working great...a few people have uploaded their own photos and they have synched down to my web galleries. But what is the best way to import my friends' photos into my iPhoto library? I want them to appear in my Events, not just under the Web Gallery section.
I tried to select my friends photos and copy them to my library and it didn't look like it worked, so I tried again. Then I noticed that all of a sudden I had 100 photos in my web gallery, when I only uploaded 20 and my friend added another 10. There were several duplicates of each.
Help! What's the best way to do this? Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you publish a gallery as you indicated, hidden, visitors to your public web gallery will not see it and have access to it unless they are given the URL by you. Conversely, visitors to the hidden gallery will not have access to the other galleries from that hidden gallery.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Better to post photos and video to web gallery than to add to the page?

    Hi there
Is it better to post video and photos to web gallery than it is to put directly on the web page? If so, how do you make the link on the web to the gallery?
    Thanks
    Carl

If you publish your web gallery from iPhoto and link it to your site you have a number of options.
Select your album and from the Share drop down menu select "Web Gallery".
A popup gives you the following options:
    Allow:
    Album viewable by everyone.
Allow Downloading of photos or entire album.
    Adding of photos by email.
    Show:
    Photo titles.
    Email address for uploading.

  • Web Gallery Shows ALL Galleries

Example - Lets say you publish a collection of 10 photos of your holiday snaps, just you and the wife, nothing rude mind, but maybe in your thing at the beach. If at a later time you then post some photos of work photos for your colleagues in the new Web Gallery, the viewer has the opportunity to click a link to go to your Master Gallery and view ALL your images, including you and the wife doing what ever. this can't be right?? Can it??

In iPhoto you can select a specific Web Gallery album and click the Settings button at the bottom left of the tool bar to configure the album to require a password.

  • Web Gallery shows a dark shawdow on the bottom of each picture

On each of my web gallery photos there is an anoying shadow. Anyone else experience the same problem? I have my descrption option turned off.
    Thanks

The easiest way is to use the Status-4-Evar add-on. With it you can choose to not display any of the status messages or URL hover previews, or display them in the add-ons bar or location bar instead.

  • Removing a web gallery album, even after the iphoto album has been deleted.

I have just created an Album of photos in iphoto, and then published the album to the web gallery. I was able to view the album via the web and my wife did too on a windows based laptop. I then went back to add 2 more photos to the album in iphoto, then again went back to see if they were uploaded too. One was and one wasnt, then the second one did after a couple of minutes. Now I have deleted the albums I created in iphoto, but I still have the link to go to the web gallery site and the album is still online with 24 photos. How can I remove the photos from my online gallery.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. I'm still in honeymoon stage but of course loving my new imac. and .mac account.

I think your best bet is to post your questions on the iPhoto discussions. More people will see them there.
I have been using the web albums for some time. I have merely started iPhoto, then select the web gallery album you wish to delete. Click on the "Web Gallery" icon located at the bottom right hand side of the window. When it opens click on "advanced". You will see the option to hide the gallery on the web.
Now you should be able to go back to the album in iPhoto and delete it.

  • Web gallery is tied to another "iPhoto"

I upgraded the hard drive on my Macbook and got everything back to the way I had it. But when I opened I photo, I noticed that my web gallery wasn't listed. Seems the only way for me to unpublish my current web gallery is reinstall my old hard drive and do it from there. Is there another way to do it, or make the iPhoto on the new hard drive see my current web gallery? I'm sure the same thing happened on with my iWeb as well. Thanks in advance.

    BlckChns:
Did you have the .Mac account setup on the MacBook before you copied over the Pictures folder and ran iPhoto on it? Doing so might have let iPhoto recognize the web gallery and kept it. (Guessing here). Are all of the other albums listed along with keywords, etc? Do you have an album in the library with the same photos and name as the gallery?
If you still have access to the older HD and can do another copy, you might try setting up the .Mac account again, move the current iPhoto Library to the desktop and copy the iPhoto Library from the old HD into the Pictures folder on your MacBook. I'd also first download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
Now launch iPhoto and see if the library is totally intact.
• How should I upload a LR Web Gallery to my dot mac account

I want to create some galleries in my Iweb site using Light room. what should I fill in to the drop down box for the hosting site url. I ultimately want to call in the galleries from a Freeway 5 Pro generated site that will be the visitor interface. Would it be better to export the files and and them move them into a folder on my IWeb site?

To upload directly from LR you will need to enter the standard details for any FTP client which your hosting service should provide you, that is the server address (usually ftp.yourwebsitename.com), your user name, password and the folder you wish to upload to.. You can also export the created site and then upload it with a different FTP client if you wish and you may find this better as the built in client in LR does have a few problems on some set ups. However you will still require the same details.
