  • How can i see photos with apple tv from my time capsule files?

I have photos in my time capsule and i want to display them on my apple tv without a computer. Some sort of browsing in my time capsule from apple tv. Both are in the same wifi net, which uses time capsule as basis,

Unfortunately, you cannot do that. In order to share photos with your Apple TV, you need to select them through the advanced menu of iTunes on your computer.

  • Unable to Choose Photos with Apple TV

I am trying to "Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV". However, I get the following error message
Photos folder syncing has been disabled for the Apple TV “” because the folder “(Unknown)” cannot be found.
    Any help would be apprecited.

Since the problem you are having is with iTunes this would be better posted there.  Is this a first generation ATV?  From the error it sounds like the option is selected to sync ATV with photos from a specific folder, and iTunes is not able to find that folder.  If you look what folder is selected.  Have you checked to see if that folder is present?

  • Problem syncing photos with Apple TV and iPod

Ever since I connected my Apple TV I have had problems syncing photos with both my iPod and my Apple TV.
The Apple TV gives me an error (no desciption) when I try to sync photos. The iPod gives me an error 39.
iPhotos is working fine. I rebuilt the library using the rebuild library feature and this has not fixed the problem.
I also rebuilt my iTunes library without success in fixing the problem.
How does it sync? Is there some kind of syncing file I need to delete that may be corrupt?
Does anyone have any ideas about what I could try?

    Just a suggestion,
for a speedier and better informed reply, post your question in the AppleTV forums.

  • Sharing photos with Apple TV

Since updating to iTunes v.11.3 I have been unable to share my Aperture photos with my Apple TV. After Home Sharing has been turned on I try to choose which photos to share. The Photos Sharing Preferences window opens and the little gear begins to turn and turn and turn and turn... It never shows my photos lists.
I've tried repairing permissions, rebooting my computer, quiting and restarting iTunes, and quiting and restarting Home Sharing.
    Any ideas!

    I've solved the problem.
In Photos, Select Preferences.  In the General Tab, make sure that the path to your external Photos library shows in the Library Location.  Then click on the Use as System Library Photo Library button.
In iTunes 12.1.12, you will now be able to select your specific albums as before.
I updated my Apple TVs to the latest updates.
The specific photo albums can be accessed in Apple TV now.

  • What are the options for viewing photos with Apple TV 2?

I have an old Apple TV, and load the family photos on the Apple TV itself. On the Apple TV 2, I know you can connect to MobileMe and Flickr.
Aside from MobileMe and Flickr, are there other options for viewing photos on the new Apple TV? Can you stream them from a Mac, or can you stream them from an iPhone/iPad?
If so, how is this initiated from the Apple TV, Mac, or iPhone/iPad?

You can stream from a Mac via itunes selection (iPhoto events or a folder) - it has 8GB of solid state temporary storage, but quite how things are cached/flushed from here is a bit of a mystery - you cannot say designate 2GB to hold photos or prioritise photos over other material.
Even rentals seem to flush if you've watched them and they haven't expired - relative fell asleep during a rental yesterday so i suggested she watched it today and it downloaded from scratch again, and the AppleTV hadn't had anything but music playing in the interim. Silly this really. There's a post on another section where someone used 17GB of their data allowance to watch a HD movie as it kept reloading!
Yes you can stream photos from iPod/iPad using Airplay, but to be honest i don't think ATV2 offers that much over ATV1 for photos (yet anyway), and in some ways it's inferior.
ATV2 is far more responsive/uses less power etc but I'm not convinced you get anything groundbeaking unless you have a lot of guests who could use it via Airplay from their iphones (and with ipads currently without cameras, photos would have to come from somewhere else in the first place).

  • Having trouble with opening homesharing for photos with apple TV

Everytime I open homesharing for apple TV in Itunes I just get the grey spinning wheel.  I have my photos on the wireless time capsule with wifi

I've also noticed this started happening... Its something with iTunes, because both my old Apple TV's and my iPhone and iPad all show multiple events for the same event... Lots of them! So many its hard to tell what to sync now. When I click on any of my devices photos tab in iTunes they are all exactly the same. Not sure how to fix it...

  • Share photos with Apple TV

Trying to share some photos from the new Photos OS X app through my Apple TV (3rd gen).  With iPhotos, I used to just use the photo stream, but now Photo Stream is no longer available with Photos (at least I can't find it if it does exist).
I can select a "shared album", but I would like to create a shared album, just for the Apple TV and no one else.  Currently to create a shared album, you need to share it with "someone" in contacts, or am I missing something fundemental?
    Help would be appreciated
    THX

I was able to finally get photos shared to my Apple TV (3rd gen) by creating a shared album and leaving the invite box open.  All I did was name the album and then click Create.  Photos then creates a little cloud called "Activity" and a folder called "Photos" in the sidebar under "Shared" that shows the photos you have added.
Now the odd thing is that I added about 50 photos to that album....and now it's up to 272 photos!  I have not added more, it's growing on it's own!?!  Not sure what it's doing really, but it's getting bigger as I type!  It's now over 300!  It's....IT'S ALIVE!!!!
But I still don't see Photos in iTunes to be shared via Home Sharing.  Am I doing something wrong?
    Create a shared album
Select the photos and video clips you want to share.
Click the Share button in the toolbar and choose iCloud Photo Sharing, then click New Shared Album.
Type a name for the shared album, then type the email addresses of the people you want to share the album with.
Not really sure why Apple changed this, I personally don't want my photos on the cloud.  This seems like a huge step backwards to me.

  • Syncing photos with apple tv

I have all of my photos stored on an external hard drive and cannot get atv to sync them. This used to work but since upgrading to leopard I can no longer sync the photos on the external hard drive. The sync symbol is rolling in itunes and I get no error message or symbol, but the photos are not on atv. Has anyone had trouble syncing photos stored on an external hard drive?

I have tried turning off all firewalls with no luck. Then I tried setting all firewalls to specifically allow I-Tunes, still no luck. My photos are stored in separate files on the external hard drive but I am not sure how to check permission on the external hard drive. And I am not sure about creating a second library. How would I do this?

  • Resolution of Home Sharing photos with Apple TV 3?

Let's say you have an Apple TV 3 and you have configured Home Sharing so the Apple TV 3 can view the photos in iPhoto on a Mac in your network. Using the Apple TV 3, are the photos displayed on your TV from iPhoto on the Mac in 1080p? I have an Apple TV 2 and the photo resolution does not seem super great compared to directly connecting the Mac to my TV. I asked at my local Apple Store and they didn't really know.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Obviously not, the Apple TV 2 can only output 720p.

  • Streaming photos with Apple TV 2

I want to stream, not sync, my iPhoto library to Apple TV (the library is located on the machine I'm using to sync & stream video and music). That worked fine under 1.x. After upgrading, it still seemed to work, but I have since done a factory restore on my Apple TV. Now I can't find an option that will allow Apple TV to see my library without syncing.
This article talks about setting up streaming, but it's based on 1.x, not 2.0:
    <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306467>
    What am I missing?

    //Disclaimer : I might be wrong
iTunes treats Photos as an afterthought, something thrown in because of demand. To my knowledge there is no way to stream photos from iTunes short of uploading them to your Flickr/.Mac account and doing it that way (of course wasting a lof of bandwidth). Personally I just let the photos sync. I have 10k pictures of my 2 kids and its only 5gigs.

  • Microsoft word: rotate photos.  Apple: rename photos

Hello, I am new to apple, and English...
    I have two problems:
Microsoft word. I want to rotate a photo inserted in one of my word document, I can see the function "rotate" in the tool box but this is not working. When I click on the rotate option, every options appear in pale gray, and don't seem to be activated. Right click on the rotate function is also coming up with pale gray options....Is rotate photo not activated on my word or is it not possible to rotate a photo with apple on a word document?
Rename photos. I can rename one photo at a time, but I can't rename more than one at the same time??? if I select all the photos I want to rename, i can't find an option to rename all of the selected photos. I found the answer on the support web site for one photo only. Do you know if I can rename many photos at the same time or is it not possible with apple?
Any help would be very appreciated,
    many thanks in advance,
    Yannick

Rotate in MS Word 2008 works fine for me so it's possible your installation is corrupt. Below are the steps I used to rotate:
    1. With the photo in the MS Word document ensure it's selected.
    2. Open the Toolbox
    3. Open the Formatting Palette
    4. Towards the bottom of that palette locate Size, Rotation, and Ordering and then rotate using that tool.
For your photos I would recommend creating an Automator routine for doing that. Here is a an article that shows how to do it.

  • I updated the photos that share with Apple TV but old photos display during music

I updated the photo file that shares with Apple TV, and they display correctly when I play the slide show, but when they play slideshow with music playing it's the old photo file. How do I get the new photos to display during music? Thanks

Not sure what you are trying to do, but the photo is just cached.  You might try restarting ATV and see if that will foruce a cache relaod.
What is it you did?  Did you update an image, cover art, photo stream?  It could also be that what ever you updated it not what is being displayed.  For instacne if you updated something in iPhoto, but are pointing to Photostream that will not have an effect.  Same problme if you are looking at cover art while the music is playing.

AppleTV2 does not support directly accessing media on network drives.
All media viewed must be via itunes.
If you can point iTunes to a folder on the network drive (Advanced>Choose Photos to Share) you maybe able to access them but only when itunes is running.
