Photoshop 13 with windows 8.1

Hi,
I am just starting to use windows 8.1 on my new laptop and I find I am having to change the way I operate...
In the past I have uploaded my Canon raw images with Canon Zoombrowser and then moved on to edit them with Photoshop Elements8, a perfectly satisfactory arrangement.
My old laptop (using windows vista) has given-up on me and I have had to replace it with a new Dell, using windows 8.1.
I am having all sorts of problems (no music to work by!) My existing Canon Zoombrowser no longer works and I have downloaded Canon Imagebrowser, which cannot access my existing 20 gig of images.
My question is in 2 parts...if I buy Photoshop Elements 13 will I be able to access my existing unedited raw images and will I be able to access new raw images from my cameras and import from my ancient scanners using w8.1? I have used Elements from version 2 with various windows software and managed to overcome all of the problems along the way, but this has got me beaten (this shouldn't be in bold but)
I am also planning to buy Premiere elements and try my hand at video after a very long break, am I asking for more trouble?
I had a conversation with an old friend a few days ago (before I opened the box) and he laughed when I told him I had Windows 8.1

I think you mean Photoshop CS2.  Photoshop 2 is from around 1992.  The old Adobe activation servers were taken down. CS2 is about a decade old Adobe made a new download for old customers that legal customers can download and install. Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products

You might want to check this thread. Some have had success with CS5 on Windows 8, others not so lucky.

  • Adobe Photoshop Incompatible with Windows 7 ?

I typically do not have problems installing Microsoft products, Corel products, HP products, AV software, dozens of other companies products on my Windows 7 Home Premium computer. I have never had problems installing Adobe products on ME, XP, Vista. However, every recent Adobe product I have purchased have failed to install on Windows 7 Home Premium and it typically takes support several hours to fix, if it can be fixed at all. It involves creating new accounts, disabling services, disabling the UAC, doing partial restarts (I did not even know those existed) and normal restarts, etc (I do have administrative rights on my account(s)).
Today I was working with customer support (taking control of my desktop). We did not succeed to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.
During the installation a windows dialog box was displayed which stated that the Adobe installation .exe file was incompatible with Windows UAC.
There is clearly something wrong with the Adobe installer because Adobe products are the only products that cannot be installed.
Why is it so difficult tp install Adobe products on a Windows 7 system?
Does anyone know what is going on?
Is the Adobe installer really incompatible with Windows 7 as the Windows dialog box stated?

Thank you for your help all three of you,
    I finally succeeded to install.
I was using the downloaded version (not the DVD), I should have mentioned that. I did two things. I turned off the UAC (as suggested) and I moved the installation files from my user account folder where they were placed by default (I initially just accepted the default). The user account was protected despite my administrative rights, which is why install using setup.exe in the user account location failed. I have a feeling that I would not have had to turn off the UAC or move the files out of the user account folder if I had run as administrator. I'll remember that next time. It is funny customer support did not see this.
    Anyway, now it is installed

  • Photoshop Cs2 with windows 7 64 bits

i find that the printer icon in the page setup page is missing.
can anyone help me to solve it, please.
i cannot select printer while i am in the page setup tab.
or it is a bug in photoshop cs2?

Windows 7 x64 is a separate build from Windows 7 32 bit.  Windows 7 Ultimate comes with BOTH.
There isn't a separate package of Photoshop CS5 for 32 bit or 64 bit.  Photoshop (since CS4) installs both 32 bit and 64 bit software on a 64 bit Windows system, or only 32 bit software on a 32 bit Windows system.
Photoshop CS5 is fine with every variant of Windows 7.
Photoshop CS5 is reportedly fine with modern AMD processors, though I have only used Intel.
The detailed system requirements are here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/systemreqs/
My own (personal, subjective) opinion is that ATI (AMD) video interfaces are better than nVidia.
    Hope this answers your questions.

  • In Photoshop Elements12 (with Windows 8.1) added titles to my pictures do not appear in Windows. Formerly, in PSE 6 (with Windows Vista) added tiltles also appeared in Windows.

Formerly using Photoshop Elements 6 with Windows Vista I could add (or change) titles to my pictures in the Organizer and find the same titles afterwards also in Windows. Nowadays using Photoshop Elements 12 with Windows 8.1 and adding titles to my pictures in the Organizer I do not find these titles in Windows any more. That makes me sad because I want to have the titles in Windows but adding the titles is much more comfortable in Photoshop Elements than in Windows. Please tell me: Is there a help for me?

I have a Dell U3014 as well as a couple of older Dells turned up sideways as "ears".
Other than supplying the desktop "theme" (if you can call a complete lack of style along with a fair bit of inconsistency a "theme"), the OS really shouldn't be causing you to have a washed-out desktop experience.  That's more a
matter of your display driver not really doing its job.  What video card do you have?
FYI, one of the reasons I like Aero Glass for Win 8.1 (a 3rd party package) is that it allows me to make the desktop more pleasant to use and helps set the client areas (i.e., where work gets done) apart from the window chrome.
From what I can see, the color-management logic in Windows 8.1 is essentially unchanged from what it was in Windows 7.  That there has been NO progress in this area is really a disappointment.  It's an area where Microsoft has again just stopped
    trying to make improvements.
If it's at all interesting to you, here's a screen grab of a REALLY cluttered up desktop.  I don't normally work this way; this was an exercise to see how much I could get running.  I finally gave up starting more stuff as I grew tired
and it just kept working fine...

Did you manage to download the big, fat file of 1.5GB?  Also, tell us what error message are you getting when you download the small exe file (part 2)?
Have you got 7-zip installed on your Windows 8 machine?  If so then you can unzip the big, fat file by right-clicking on it and selecting "7-ZIP - Extract to ....."
I am not on my Windows 8.1 at the moment but you might also get "extract all ..." when you right-click on the file.
If nothing works then the best thing is to try to download the second file (.exe) t#which will enable for you to extract the files and run setup automatically.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is this new Photoshop compatible with Windows 7?

I tried to use an older version of Photoshop on my computer, but it was not compatible with Windows 7.  I was looking for the new version, but everywhere I read, it said it wasn't compatible.  Now I was considering the Photoshop and Lightroom bundle as a monthly package, so I wanted to find out if they are compatible with my PC which still runs on Windows 7 O/S.

Do you mean can CS6 open files generated in Photoshop 7?
Yes. To my knowledge without exception.

  • PhotoShop CS2 with Windows - via Bootcamp / Parallels

    Hi All,
    Hope you can help !
I am thinking of upgrading from G4 powerbook to an Intel MacBook. My main question is this:
I have a full copy of Photoshop CS2 for windows, will this run sufficently well under either bootcamp / parallels on a MacBook or will I need to upgrade to CS2/3 for MAC ?
    Many thanks

It will run fine on both of them.
It will run better using Bootcamp/Windows.

  • PhotoShop CS5 with Windows 7 64 bits and/or Windows 7 32 bits

    Hello
I just bought a new computer with an Intal QuadCore, 8 Gb of memory and Windows 7 - 64 bits edition
I plan to upgrade from a former Photoshop CS3 onWindows XP and it was a 32 bits edition
Is the Photoshop CS5 supported on BOTH Win 7 32 AND 64 bits ? Or are they different versions ?
I plan to either have a dual boot Win 7 32 Bits  -    Win 7  64 bits or separate hard disk on racks, so I'll still be able to use 32 bits softwazre that don't run on 64bits
But if PhotoShop CS5 comes in 2 versions, I need to decide which one I should buy
Thanks for any help you vcan provide
    have a good day

  • Photoshop cs2 with windows 8.1

    Hi
I've been using photoshop cs2 for some time and I just bought a new laptop that is windows 8.1
during installation it stops and wont proceed until I enter an organization and serial number.
I don't remember doing that in the previous install and I have no idea what I should enter.  Is there a place
on my old computer's hard drive anywhere that would give me this information?
    Darren

If you have an original CS2 CD and serial number, you should know activation has been retired and your old copy won't work.
The great news is that Adobe has provided an non-activated copy of CS2 and a new serial number free of charge to CS-CS2 owners.

  • Permissions Problems with Photoshop 7 with Windows 7...URGENT!!!

I have just installed Windows 7 on a new computer and installed my Photoshop 7. I need to customize my picture package. In attempting to save a new custom file in the layouts folder (presets folder)...the screen stated I do not have permission to save this file, contact the administrator. I am the administrator! How do i resolve this issue so I can save my new custom picture packages? Thank you! Need help fast to complete project within 24 hours!

    Found it! Was difficult in Windows 7 as there were no tabs to de-select! Simply turning the "bar" all the way down to allow all users did the trick! thank you so much! After searching for 5 hours you solved it in 5 minutesd for me! I am very grateful! For others who need specific direction on this;
    go to control panel:
    select user accounts
go to users, then lower the "bar" to the bottom to allow admin changes for all and programs...that's it!
