Photoshop 32bits does not start up anymore on Windows 7 64bits.

This is the situation:
We have 2 PCs that have been configured identically, with the exception of a scanner (canonScan 9950F) attached to the computer and the 32 bits twain scanner driver installed.
Both PCs worked correctly, the one with the scanner attached started 32 bit PhotoShop when there was need to scan. But for some obscure reason, 32 bits Photoshop does not work anymore. I have tried disabling the twain driver (by moving it out of the plugins directory), restarting the machine, updating to the latest software, but despite this, Photoshop does not start anymore... no beep, no crash, no nothing.
I deinstalled Photoshop, Reinstalled - same phenomena.
At least the Event Viewer of Windows has something to tell, even if it is not quite understandable to me:

May be someone out in the user community has a solution? Needless to say, that the second machine works fine!
Lucien.

The Photoshop executable really should be showing 12.0.4.0 as the executable version should have been updated by the updater.
I'm sorry for the really basic question, but did you reboot after installing the 12.0.4 update?
I do vaguely remember a few forum posts claiming the updater had only worked partially, though in my own case it updated all the files no problem.  Can you recall whether you changed anything under the Photoshop 32 bit installation area (e.g., did you move or remove any of  the Adobe plug-ins, for example)?
If memory serves, the workaround for a "partial update" was to uninstall Photoshop, then reinstall 12.0.0, then update to 12.0.4.

Did you download the Basic/Free version?
I also thought the Trial period was as long as you needed!?
What is your Warranty and Return Policy?
You get to use VueScan for as long as you want before you buy it, so we recommend you test it before you buy it to make sure it meets your needs.
All sales are final and there are no refunds.
Isn't this a bit harsh? Naah I actually prefer to solve problems, and if I offer refunds, people give up too easily. If I can't solve your problem after you send a few Problem Reports (see above), I'm happy to give a refund.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • After Successfull Installation of Photoshop Element 3.0 On Mac OS 10.6.8, Photoshop Elements does not start saying that personalization information is invalid or missing

I have installed Photoshop Elements 3.0 from original disk on my MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.6.8. The installation was successful. However, when I try to run Photoshop Elements, it does not start, with the message "Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information". I uninstalled Adobe Elements and deleted all Adobe files from both the System Library Preferences and from the User Library Preference. Then tried the installation again. The installation was successful, but the application fails to start with the same missing/invalid-personalization-information message.
    Please advise

I am sorry Invalid Personalization but Photoshop Elements 3.0 requires a PowerPC processor or Rosetta installed in order to function.  You can find the system requirements at System requirements | Adobe Photoshop Elements.
You may want to try following the steps listed at Mac OS X 10.6: If you need to install Rosetta to attempt to install Rosetta.  That may still not resolve your licensing issue however as the application was also designed for Mac OS 10.2.8 and 10.3.

  • After installation of 10.2.2 iTunes does not start up anymore

I updated my system to 10.2.2. today. Now itunes does not start anymore. I receive an Error Message saying "iTunes was was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes Error 7 (Windows Error 998))" I reinstalled iTunes - same effect. Even a complete reinstallation of the entire .NET Framework 2, 3.5 and 4 did not help. Could anyone help please. Honestly spoken I am quite upset since I do not have access to my library anymore.....
    Thanks
    Holger

If it isn't the .NET thing, and you aren't getting an additional message mentioning a specific filename, then it's probably damage to one of the software components installed with iTunes, Holger.
Usually it's a damaged Apple Application Support, but I've seen it produced by a damaged QuickTime in some contexts too. So it might be best to do a complete reinstall of iTunes as per the instructions in the following documents.
If you've got a Windows XP system, see:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
If you've got a Windows Vista or 7 system, see:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Does that fix the error for you?

    Hello,
our customer has problem with PS Elements 12. He can start it for the first time and everything works fine. But when he closes the program and tries to start it again, it will not start. It doesnt even say anything. No error mesages or anything. He tried to instal a trial version of PS E 13 and it does the same thing.
    He's running Win 7 SP1 64 bit
    Any sugestions? Thank you.

    Hi,
It has been known that the Welcome screen sometimes fails to close properly and prevents a second load.
Most people have overcome the problem by creating a shortcut direct to the two main applications.

  • URGENT: V440 Solaris 9 does not start up anymore

    Good morning all,
    I am working on a V440, having Solaris 9.
Yesterday I have added a network card, that I have pulled out of another machine.
Now when I try to start the machine, that does not work anymore:
    {3} ok boot -r
FATAL: system is not bootable, boot command is disabled(I launch "boot -r" in order to reconfigure the machine, so that the network card is added in machine's configuration.
After some investigation on the internet, I have found that in case of the mentioned error message, I need to restart by powering off and on the machine, which gives following result:
SC Alert: Host system has shut down.
SC Alert: Host System has Reset
    sc> console -f
Enter #. to return to ALOM.
    {3} ok boot -r
FATAL: OpenBoot initialization sequence prematurely terminated.
FATAL: system is not bootable, boot command is disabledOn the internet, I have found another way of working:
    {3} ok setenv auto-boot? false
    auto-boot? =          false
    {3} ok boot -r
FATAL: system is not bootable, boot command is disabled
    {3} ok reset-all

Data Access ErrorMeanwhile I have also tried to boot using a startup CD-ROM, which gives the same bad result as before:
    {3} ok boot cdrom
FATAL: OpenBoot initialization sequence prematurely terminated. Now I am desperate. Does anybody have an idea how I can reboot my machine?
    Thanks a lot
    Dominique

    Thanks a lot.
I had already done some "show-disk", "printenv", "test-all", all possible boot commands that I could find, but the simple solution was (as you mentioned):
    - "init 0" and "poweroff" the machine
    - Open up the machine, and get the network card out.
    - "poweron" and "boot" and see that everything is working again.
    - "init 0" and "poweroff" the machine again
    - Open up the machine again, but this time insert the network card back in place.
    - "poweron" and "boot -r", the "-r" in order to assure that the machine is reconfigured in order to find the network card.
=> everything is working fine, and in "/etc/path_to_inst" I have found four "qfe" entries, meaning that the machine not recognises the network card entries.
Or how a simple wrong manipulation can cause a huge panic ;-)

Please help me. I just bought the Photosphop Touch after upgradeing my iPAD 3 ios to 5.1.1 I tried to start the application but it just doesnt start.
    I am using the highest spec of the IPAD 3 : 64G  , 4G, Wifi and ...

    Hi,
this is a known issue that some users seem to run into.
The workaround is to delete the application on the device and then reinstalling it.
Note that deleting it is very important - a reinstall from iTunes does not normally help.
    Thanks,

    Re: PROBLEMS WITH 10.8.5
Sep 13, 2013 10:43 PM (in response to papanast)
    You might try this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Then download and install: OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.5 (Combo).

  • My Macbook (white, 4 years old) does not start-up anymore.

It was working fine last night. This morning it does not want to start-up. It goes to the white screen with the apple. The dial comes on and turns for about 30 seconds. Then it shuts down again. It used to first make the loud "ding"-sound as you turned it on, which it also doesn't do. I pressed the button on the battery and all the lights worked. The laptop is fully charged.
The only things that I did last night that were out of the ordinary: I deleted 2603 photos from the iPhoto trash bin and I restored my new iPhone 4S via iTunes and updated the phone too.

Were I not as relatively poor as I am, I would fall for it still. For now, I try to be content with older Apple products repaired by yours truly. And study them I do.
Would it be suffice to say that this a general problem that stems from the drive to make computers ever cheaper and faster?
The problem does not stem from the drive, but from selling vapourware and using cheap chinese labour and inferior components- to make every product ever cheaper, especially electronics. The base problem is globalisation and in the end unsustainable capitalist economics, not just our beloved Apple, sorry to say.
I should also inform you that my grapevine tells me the Mac Pro line may be abandoned by Apple in the near future, so I wouldn't bet on those any more. Again, sorry to say. And yes, up till now MacPros have been VERY reliable, generally speaking.
    Enough with this offtopic, though.
I have good hopes your MacBook may be rescued yet; please keep us posted! Try 3 things first: 1. Zap the PRAM (hold down P+R+alt+option while starting & wait for a second chime at least before releasing). 2. Reset the PMU ( take off the power adaptor, remove the battery and then hold down the power button for at least 5"; next repower&restart), 3. Start up in Safe Mode (hold down Shift while starting up), let it run for at least 1/2 hours if it will start, next restart normally. Hope this works!

  • Finder does not starts automatically anymore

Hi, i was in the Applications folder and accidentally drag and drop the Finder.app out the app folder in the desktop. So i repaired the mistake and move the Finder back to the app folder but after this incident everytime i startup my mac Finder doesn't start automatically anymore, i have to try open some folder to force it open. What can be happening?

Until you are familiar with the OS, you should consider creating a non-admin user where these things cannot happen accidentally.

  • Photoshop Elements does not start

    Hello,
I bought and installed Photoshop Elements a view month ago and it worked fine. Yesterday I wanted to edit a photo, but it was not possible to do any changes to the photo, because the program crashed every time I tried. So I reinstalled the program and now it doesn't even start anymore. If I start it over the select screen (Organizer/Editor) it says "Photoshop Elements funtkioniert nicht mehr, es wird nach einer Lösung gesucht" and if I start the editor directly I get an error message: PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe - Einsprungpunkt nicht gefunden. Der Prozedureinsprungpunkt "__crtCreateSymbolicLinkW" wurde in der DLL "MSVCR110.dll" nicht gefunden. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

After a view days of searching a found a solution: I installed the MS Visual C++ Reditributable für Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 (both 32 bit and 64 bit) and now Photoshop Elements runs without any problems.
