Photoshop 3D keeps freezing

Ive just recently bought a beefier system to try and make the most of the 3D features in Photoshop. I now run:
I5
GTX 660
8 gig ram
3D seems to be useable although the brush still has a bit of lag to it. Ive also noticed the 3D view will freeze every now and then. Slightly frustrating. I teach at a University and am currently pushing the 3D features in the course I run. I still feel the 3D features in Photoshop have some way to go before being production ready so Im probably going to have to look at alternatives to Photoshop. Im hoping there are some Photoshop tech guys on this forum that can give me a run down on any known issues or things for me to look out for.
Back to my original question, has anyone noticed the brush lag and freezing issue and know of any work arounds .. thanks!!

I think you need to realize the Photoshop was not designed to be a 3D application.  Photoshop can do some rudimentary 3d stuff an can sometime import some 3d files properly.  I never use Photoshop 3d stuff because I always used Photoshop standard addition.  With the advent of CC there is only one version of Photoshop and 3D is standard if you have a supported GPU video adapter.  So I did a little testing of Photoshop of some of Photoshop 3D features a few days ago.  I was surprised about some of its capabilities however Photoshop CC 3d Feature has its share of stability problems. I also had two hangs. My system dual six core Xeon processor 40GB ECC Ram SSD and a Nvidia Quadro 4000. My Advice is save often.

  • Why does my Photoshop CS5 keep freezing?

    Hi,
I'm running Adobe Photoshop CS5 on a Lenovo ThinkPad S1 (8 GB ram) in Windows 8.1.
I really hope that somebody can help me with regards to this freezing issue that I'm experiencing, I have been using Photoshop CS5 for nearly 12 months and it's been great, having said that I'm in the process of designing some banners for my website but when I open up a file, the program crashes and displays a dialog box, saying "Photoshop has stopped working" or "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has encountered a problem and needs to close, We are sorry for the inconvenience.".
What exactly do I have to do to resolve this issue?

You need to provide the crash details from your system's Event Viewer.

  • Photoshop CS6 keeps freezing when I work with large files

I've had problems with Photoshop CS6 freezing on me and giving me RAM and Scratch Disk alerts/warnings ever since I upgraded to Windows 8.  This usually only happens when I work with large files, however once I work with a large file, I can't seem to work with any file at all that day.  Today however I have received my first error in which Photoshop says that it has stopped working.  I thought that if I post this event info about the error, it might be of some help to someone to try to help me.  The log info is as follows:

I really hope to hear from someone soon, my job requires me to work with Photoshop every day and I run into errors and bugs almost constantly and all of the help I've received so far from people in my office doesn't seem to make much difference at all.  I'll be checking in regularly, so if you need any further details or need me to elaborate on anything, I should be able to get back to you fairly quickly.
    Thank you.

Here you go Conroy.  These are probably a mess after various attempts at getting help.

  • Newly purchased Photoshop CS5 - keeps freezing and is unworkable

I just recently ( in the past two weeks) bought the full student edition of Photoshop CS5. Since then it has problems with freezing where the program just stops responding and most of the time when that freezes it force quit wont work so in order to restart it and try to continue my work I have to restart my computer. So far I have only been using it to manipulate photos at a basic level. The size of the images are not that large (13in x 17in at 240 resolution). They dont have that many layers (less than 20 so far). I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no change. I changed it from opening in 64 bit to 32 bit and that changed nothing either.

That sounds like you'd be running out of RAM and hitting the scratch disk a lot.
Are you sure that Photoshop isn't just waiting for the scratch disk?
How would I know if it is?

  • Photoshop 10 keeps freezing

I have lost a lot of work twice this morning and need something done by 2:00.  it will not even let me save without freezng and loosing all my work

Also, are you asking about Photoshop or Photoshop Element?. This is the Elements forum. If you mean full Photoshop, you should ask in their forum, since problems/solutions are different.

If you are asking about PSE, what is freezing, exactly? The editor, the organizer, the welcome screen? And what are you doing when it freezes, and what is your operating system?

  • Photoshop Elements 8 keeps freezing up in Windows 7.

I reloaded PH 8 on a new computer with windows 7 and it keeps freezing up after initially being ok (program stops responding).  It worked fine on my old computer which had Windows Vista.

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • Everything keeps freezing/crashing after Mavericks installation on MacBook Pro

Everything keeps freezing/crashing after Mavericks installation on MacBook Pro.
It started with Photoshop, then Safari, and now the Kinect sensor.
Mavericks is the worse thing that happened to me I have a thesis project to work on!
    What can I do?
How can I remove Mavericks and go back to Mountain Lion?
    Thanks

    Hey StephSassine,
First, I would run through these steps:
Your computer’s startup disk may not have enough free disk space. To make disk space available, you can move files to another disk and then delete files you no longer need on the startup disk:
    Increase disk space
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10677
If that doesn't work, you may need to repair your computer’s disk in Disk Utility:
Choose Apple menu > Software Update to make sure you have the latest version of Mac OS X.
Software updates sometimes change a file’s permissions to improve security, so updating your software can solve some permissions problems.
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in Launchpad.
Select the disk you want to check.
    Click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions.
via: Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5821
If that doesn't help resolve the issue, you can revert to a previous OS X version:
OS X Mavericks: Revert to a previous OS X version

  • Why my preview keeps freezing when I make several underlines in pdf file?

Why my preview keeps freezing when I make several underlines in pdf file? It keeps saving and freezing.

This is my first time posting here, so I'm sorry, I re-read my post several times and honestly did think I provided enough information, but you're right, it wasn't the right kind. So please (continue to) bear with me, I'm really not trying to be ignorant. I honestly assumed the issue was something I was doing wrong in Bridge, nothing to do with my computer specs.
I am using a late-2008 Macbook, running Yosemite 10.1.1 (screenshot below)
On the Mac I am using Bridge CC 6.1.1.115 and Photoshop CC 2014 (2014.2.1 release, 20141014.r.257 x64)
Here is a link to the System Info from Photoshop on the Mac

I am also using a Dell desktop with Windows 8, running Photoshop CC 2014 (2014.2.1 release, 20141014.r.257 x32) and Bridge CC 6.1.0.116 x32 (on a separate CC account with separate files that I don't try to sync or anything)
Here is a link to the System Info from Photoshop on the Windows computer.

Here is a screenshot of my Photoshop Performance preferences on the Windows computer
I work with jpg, psd, ai, svg, and pdf files. Most of my stacks are three different file types of the same image, usually jpg, psd/ai, and pdf.
I have not recieved any error messages
I am not having issues opening raw files, I am not having printing issues, I have listed the troubleshooting steps I have taken.
Is there any information you need that I missed? I'm trying not to be a dingus, but I'll have to ask you to be patient with me in the meantime. I haven't ever looked up half the hardware/software details that were suggested and I don't know how to off the top of my head, so I provided what I already knew how to

Elements keeps freezing when I try to use healing brush tool.  I'm running Yosemite.  Tried to download a "plug-in" workaround, but it just comes up blank.

  • Photoshop CC version - freezing when making changes

I have CC version - working in Photoshop - any changes keep freezing on screen - I reset the tools, I have restarted the program, tried file in 32 & 64 bit - any suggestions?

Thanks but didn't seem to help - example: simply changing a line of type to BOLD it will show the last few letters bold - to actually see it I have to slightly move the line or press 'esc', I reset the 'essentials' setting too hoping that might help.
I'm wondering if I should delete and reinstall? I'm on the latest version.

  • My time machine keeps freezing when I am backing up

I have recently purchased a seagate 1.5TB external hard drive and am trying to back up my computer using time machine.
    My compute is 56GB large.
I have tried 3 times and have been forced to stop it everytime because it keeps freezing.
    What should I do?
It says it is compaitble with USB 2.0 and 3.0
My MBP is from late 2011 and I think it is 3.0 yet when it does backup a bit it doesnt do it particularly fast then it pauses.

If you have a late 2011 MBP, then you have USB 2.0 ports. Only the mid-2012 models came with USB 3.0 ports. Is your Seagate a USB 3.0 model? It should be backward compatible with your machine; you just won't acheive USB 3.0 speeds. How did you format your drive? To use with Time Machine, it must be formated as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".
I'm suspecting (and rather hoping) that it's just a formatting problem. Try using Disk Utility to reformat the drive as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" in order to work with TM.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
