Photoshop 6.0 - Free Transform Option Missing

I have used this program for years to edit photos before uploading them to my web-site. I have always used the "Free Transform" option to change photo sizing, until today. Today I went to edit a photo, and the "Free Transform" option (under the "edit" pull down menu) is GONE! The option is not grayed out (meaning that it is not usable). It is simply gone from the pull down down menu. I don't know if I accidentally changed an important setting, or if I'm doing something wrong, or if the software has a glitch. Is your image in 16 bit-per-channel mode?
Try 8 bpc.

Photoshop CS4 Crash Free Transform Vector Objects

Hello!
I've a consistent ad recurring error and I wanted to see if anyone else has it.
The bug happens when I place a vector smart object either an Illustrator file, or pasting from InDesign.
I place the object, and confirm.
Then, when I hit "command t" to free-transform, Photoshop hangs for a second and then crashes.
It happens every time, on every type of Photoshop file, on any type of vector content.
I can place an EPS file, and the error does not occur.
Any suggestions?

I'm having the same thing happen with CS4 11.0 (I was running 11.0.1 before the crash),
Anytime I hit the transform command tit hangs then freezes... but never recovers. It crashes the whole system and I need to reboot.
Intel iMac, running OS X 10.5.7
I've trashed preferences, repaired permissions and reinstalled Photoshop (not the entire creative suite).
I used to have CS3, but it's been uninstalled but I'm not pointing the software to any other plugins... so I'm lost.
Any ideas?

Photoshop Elements 10: Guided Edit options missing.

My Full Edit is working just fine...however, when I click on Quick or Guided Edit, the options for editing are all missing.
(These are the edits that come up on the right hand side.) I don't know if I clicked on something to make them go away...but
I have tried clicking on, "Reset Panel" a few times thinking that might work...but nothing has changed. Any idea on how to get
the editing options back on the screen? Thanks!

PSE 11 works differently. To delete the prefs there, go to the Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Editor>Preferences and click this button, then restart the program. No keystrokes needed:

Perspective and free transform

I'm a bit new to illustrator and derive most of my graphics experience from photoshop (which im not current with). Anyway, back in the day I remember a free transform option in photoshop that would allow you to individually grab corner or mid-section and move it around separately. This was great for adding perspective to your drawings since you could manually change rasters around from square to say trapezoid. anyway i was wondering if theres something similar in illustrator as i'm having difficult adding perspective to drawings that have a high number of anchors.

Disable Free transform

Hi scripters
When I am pasting image from clipboard into new doucment, Free transform option is enabled automatically. When I am pressing ENTER key then only the image is pasting. Now my problem is I dont want free transform is enable.
Please advice me how can i do this? I am using Photoshop cs2 windows XP vbscript

You need to make sure that dialogMode is set to NO. I have no idea what this
would look like in VB.

Can I free transform individual buttons within the menu widget?

When using the menu widget,
1. Is it possible to break individual buttons from their row/column and free transform them?
2. Could I delete an individual button while keeping the other buttons intact and not having to delete the page it was linked to?

Answering the questions :
1) You can create different menu items for page elements and use as individual buttons with free transform option, you can try using tabbed panel to create menu items.
2) You can if you have created a manual menu. The individual menu item will be deleted without effecting the link.

Free transform units doesn't adhere to application settings

No matter which default units I choose in Photoshop settings, the free transform units are always set to percentage when the application start.
I can then change them to something else (e.g. pixels), but they're always back to percent the next time I start PS.
It doesn't look like there's a way to set a default unit for this particular, and while it's not the end of the world, it's quite annoying and it would be nice too see it fixed in the next (minor) update.

I had this problem for the first 6 months of having the lenovo. It was eventually fixed in a bios update, and I havent seen it since. Which BIOS version are you using (its listed at the top of the "ThinkVantage Toolbox".
The latest bios cripples the Ram speed, so there is a sweet spot around bios 1.36

Movable elements of a layer - option "free transform" in Photoshop Elements 7

I hope that someone can help a little bit and answer my questions. Thank you.
Description of the task:
I want to create a tool which is able to visualize the positions of pieces on a game board. At the moment I'm using Photoshop Elements 7.
I think the following procedure would be appropriate:
2 layers, the basic layer would show the game board and the images of the pieces would be on the second layer. If I try to do that with Photoshop Elements 7 then each time when I insert an image of a piece a new layer is created. I don't need a layer per figure. Yes, one could reduce a layer afterwards. But it's not so comfortable this way.
In addition the images of the pieces should be movable on the game board. There is the option "free transform" in Photoshop Elements 7 but only one element (one piece) is movable afterwards. All the inserted elements should be movable.
So my question: Is it feasible within Photoshop Elements 7? If not, which version of Photoshop Elements would be adequate or which software do I need?

After adding each piece use the to menu:
Layer >> Merge Down
However you will only be able to move all the pieces together. You need separate layers to move the pieces individually.

Can I Free Transform/Distort An Object Like Photoshop?

I need to distort an object much the way one would in Photoshop with Free Transform - Distort. That's the one where you can drag the corners wherever it suits your fancy.
The closest thing in Illustrator I can find is Effect - Distort & Transform - Free Distort. But this is a lot tougher because I just get a tiny picture of a grid; you distort the corners, and hope for the best.
Is there a way in Illustrator that will allow me to do this with the actual object?

There's the Free Transform Tool.
Click a corner then hold down Command/Ctrl, Option/Alt, and shift then move the mouse to allow free transformations. The click-modifier-move order is important.

Are you working on a background layer? If so, Ctrl + T will not work. Press Alt and double-click your background layer to convert to a normal layer (or right-click BG layer and select Layer from Background) and try again.
If you're working in Photoshop CC 2014 you can go to Preferences > Experimental Features and tick "Scale UI 200% for high-density displays" to make your buttons and icons larger.

Photoshop crashes when using Free Transform Tool

Hello All Forum Members,
Recently Photoshop CS6 crashes when I attempt to use the Free Transform Tool through the shortcut (Ctrl+T).
It also crashes very often when using any of the free transform/transform tools via the menu as well, though not as often as the previous listed situation.
This experience only occurred recently - for all the time I have been using CS6, this has never happened.
I have read another thread similar to this, though I don't think the cause of the problem is the same as this was only a recent experience.
Any help will be appreciated.

Photoshop CS6, Free Transform & interpolation on Smart Objects

Hi,
I'm really frustrated with this, since in all the previous versions this problem was not present.
When I try to scale down a Smart Object, by using the Free Transform tool, I get over-sharped edges. I suspect this is an interpolation issue. Mind you when I do the same on a raster layer I can overcome it since there is an option box where I can choose interpolation method.

That not an option and its never an option using DOM scripting code you need to retrieve the users interpolation method set the one you want to use and then restore the users preference. Adobe even broke that in CS6. If you try the retrieve the user preference and it set to "Bicubic Automatic" which happens to be Adobe's default setting CS6 script encounters an internal error. If you catch the error and you can know the user setting is "Bicubic Automatic" If you change the setting your unable to restore the users setting for like you can not retrieve "Bicubic Automatic" using DOM code you can not set it with DOM code. Perhaps you can with Action Manager scriptlistener code. I'll give Adobe some more time to fix this before adding special code into my scripts to get around the CS6 problem.

You need to ClickDrag just a tiny bit, then apply the Shift Option Command.

Photoshop CS5 - when using free transform, "width" is showing pixels and not %?

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is in the right section but...
I am using Photoshop CS5 on the most up-to-date version of Leopard. Macbook Pro 15", early 2011 model.
I went Edit > Free Transform, about to adjust the width/height of an object on the canvas like I normally do, but I noticed that the width/height info near the top of the screen is really... Weird. Instead of saying W (width) 100% and H (height) 100% in the two boxes, W is saying however many pixels the object is, instead of the scale percentage.
How do I change this back to percentage?

I skipped CS5 and went from CS3 to CS6 - this is the standard Free Transform menu in CS6:

Why does Photoshop free transform make snow leopard crash

Every time I use free transform in Photoshop CS5 it makes my computer crash - no warning, nothing, just a dead black screen. Im on an Intel Core i5 with 16 GB of memory. It's driving me nuts. Anyone out there know what to do, please ?

It shouldn't happen, but it is possible that some of your RAM has a problem. Try taking out half the RAM and see if it still happens. If it no longer happens, the problem is in the half of the RAM you took out. If it still happens, swap out with the other half of the RAM and continue with this process of elimination until you find the stick of RAM that's doing it. If it happens no matter what RAM is installed, it could be something else, but not sure what it would be since most people don't have that problem.
