Photoshop 7.0 start up error in Mac OS 10.5.8

When I try to open Photoshop on my Mac I get the error "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a  program error. Photoshop will now exit." I found another post with a similar problem that was fixed by deleting the preferences by holding Option+Command+Shift before opening the program, but this solution did not solve my problem. Since I'm not using Snow Leopard I'm at a loss for what is wrong.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Alas, Photoshop 7.x is not supported in Leopard (nor in Snow Leopard)—as far as I know.
What's worse, Photoshop 7.x is out of the upgrade path.

Illustrator opens fine, but Photoshop won't.  HELP!!!!!!!

Thank you, Barbara.  All fonts seemed fine, no empty or duplicates.  When I went back to Elements and tried again, it did not crash!  After months of not being able to use type tool,,, not sure why it worked, but it did.  Thanks again!  I appreciate the time you took to answer my question.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 start-up error 213:11

Starting Photoshop Elements 10 for the 1st time I get error 213:11. As administrator I am not able to change the SLStore folder as suggested

! I tried it right away...almost there... arrrgh, same error. I hope this is my VAIO because my intentions were to drop ship the same software to my Dad for his 90th birthday gift next week (he just got himself a 19" VAIO touchscreen and is doing some light photo work, copies, prints and some editing. My intentions, as we are 300 miles apart and my health makes it difficult to travel, was to teach him the basics with the same software over the telephone, but if he has one glitch with the software, there it goes out the window, me I'm almost there, I'm getting a MAC then use my VAIO as a wheel chock.
I didn't mean to spew, I realy do appreciate your help. I am not giving up yet.

  • Photoshop Cs4 Extended Starting/Loading Error

    Hello Everyone,
Below is a screenshot of the error I'm having.
I'm on Windows7 and trying to run Photoshop PS4 Extended. Everything was running fine the other day. But today it suddenly started doing this when I started it up. It actually looks the same but the top par switches from what you see to the normal title bar but with the words "Not Responding" at the end. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but no luck. Same deal when soing a system restore.
All drivers are updated as is Photoshop (11.0.1). Nothing has been installed and my Norton 360 is up to date and found no errors. This error only happens with Shotoshop. Not Flash nor Dreamweaver. I also have plenty of Ram and Hard Drive space avalible (30+ gigs). Please Help!

It's not the Video Card. It's fully updated, no dust, or wire issues.
It's not the drivers either. At least not from what I can tell. The Drivers have been updated fully.
Is there a way I can remove all of the Photoshop Drivers (without hurting other adobe programs) and start from scratch. Basically remove Photoshop fully from the hard drive. No other program on my computer does this. Not one. It must be a Photoshop issue.
Here's the weird thing. I've just created a portable version of the program and it works fine. It's the installed version that's acting up.
    But nothing else works.
Before anyone ask, no I will not give you the portable version nor will I teach you how to make your programs portable. The portable version has my serial/activation info in it and I'm not able to give that out. Buy the program like we did. And making programs portable and/or sharing the knowledge is too risky. Tends to illegal downloads and crap. You wouldn't want it anyway. Only default programs/pugins work with it. So doing this actually limits the artist a lot.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 installation failure - Error 2 - Mac OS 10.6.4

    Hi,
Like a number of others, I have been unable to install from my recently downloaded PE8 package - PhotoshopElements_8_WWEFDJ.dmg, getting Error 2. I'm running 10.6.4.
I've tried all the workarounds I have found here and elsewhere with no success.
I would attach the installation log, but can't see a way of attaching anything other than images or video here.
    Can someone please help?
    Regards,
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
Sorry for the delayed response. Somehow, never got to see this thread.
If you are still not able to install PSE on the machine, then please connect back and I will try to get your issue resolved.

  • PS CC 2014 can't start on Mac OSX "Unable to initialize Photoshop due to a Program error"

I just downloaded and installed Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop CC 2014 and Lightroom on an iMac and a Macbook, both with OS OS X 10.10 (14A389).
On both Macbook and iMac i get the same error when I try to start PS CC 2014: "kon photoshop niet initialiseren vanwege een programmafout". Or in English: "Unable to initialize Photoshop due to a Program error".
    In PSErrorLog.txt (~/Library/Preferences/Photoshop CC 2014 Settings/PSErrorLog.txt) I see:
    2015:01:24 13:57:05 : /Volumes/workarea/PS_15_Mac_Daily_Retail/20141204.r.310/photoshop/main/photoshop/sources/ UColorState.cpp : 737 : REQUIRE failed
I uninstalled and reinstalled: doesn't help
The use of Cleaner Tools didn't solve the problem
How can I get PS CC 2014 up and running ??

On another simular question was the answer:
Either your default color settings files are corrupted, or they are missing (they're in the system application support folder).
Uninstalling and reinstalling should put the default files back in place.
Those files are missing. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't put hem back in place.

Before re-installing, try trashing the prefs and re-launching. Start by quitting PSE11.
Launch Finder and click the Go menu whilst holding down the Option (alt) key. Then go to Library >> Preferences and clear everything relating to PSE11 which usually means deleting the following files:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Settings
If trashing the prefs makes no difference you can download a replacement for PSE11 at the link below.

Unfortunately when Adobe products are restored from backup, especial CS4 and especially Mac, it breaks licensing.
There is a python script included in the license recovery kit that should work if you are familiar with Terminal.
If not, you must reinstall your CS4 suite.  You don't need to delete your preferences, so it should be the same as before.

I don't think the application installation would be corrupt because I uninstalled and re-installed according to adobe and all the times I did so, it was from adobe website.  and I am thinking about the OS, if that were corrupt, a lot more applications, ... would be giving me problems.
It is only PS. I am almost at wit's end trying to solve this issue. I would have thought re-insatlling program (prob did this about 10 times), would solve any issues.  I did use the cc cleaner but only yesterday as a last resort. I just don't know where to go with this problem.
when 1st happened I just uninstalled and reinstalled a few times and when that didn't solve anything, also then ran utility programs a few times.all the while deleted prefs
