Photoshop 7 not loading

every time I try to load Photshop 7, it goes through all the preliminaries and then the screen goes blank. thinking it was a program fault, I have reinstalled but all to no avail. What other fault could it be? I know it's getting on, as is the desktop, but all has been well until now.
any suggestions please

Jack,
try to reset the preferences (see the forum FAQ).

my photoshop will not load, error message is 148.3

This is a licensing error. The usual fix is to reinstall the program after running the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool. also read this:
Error "Licensing has stopped working" | Windows
Error "Licensing has stopped working" | Mac OS
If you can't fix it, you will have to provide more info like system specs and what version of PS you actually use...

  • Adobe photoshop will not load on computer???

i just got a new imac with tigar and the leopard update.
i updated to leopard as soon as i started the computer.
then i went to the adobe website and downloaded the trial version of photoshop cs3.
i installed it fine, but when i try to open PS, and error mesage tells me that the licence has ended and to reinstall. so i did, 4 times.
still nothing. what is the problem?
    Thanks

i did not load anything on 10.4, when i goto the new imac, i just loaded 10.4 and then immediatly updated to 10.5. i have CS3 on my pc, so i just want to test CS3 on the new mac, to see which runs better. if i like it then i will buy the mac version. so far, my pc will surf the net about 3-4 times faster than the mac. i did not get the mac for net use, only for sound video and photo editing. but i do surf google for images.
right now i am trying to erase and reinstall OX S back to 10.4, then i will try to install CS3 again, then if it works, ill update to 10.5 and see if that works.

  • Photoshop CC not loading on MacBook Air with Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks)

Photoshop CC is not loading at all after updating my 2013 MacBook Air with Mac OS 10.9. The error message (in German as I am using the German version) says "Konnte Photoshop nicht initialisieren da ein Programmfehler aufgetreten ist" ("couldn't initialize photoshop since a program error occurred") . Application launcher is updated to the latest version and deinstalling and re-installing photoshop CC didn't change anything. What can I do?

  • Photoshop CS6 Not Loading: Actions & Preferences Errors

Photoshop CS6 has been working like a dream, and recently it has pushed some very large files.
But, upon trying to open Photoshop this morning, I get these two messages:
Could not load actions because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered.
Could not initialize Photoshop because the Preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted).
              - although the file was still in the AppData...Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings.
    Tried to 'restore' Preferences:
Keyboard - CTRL ALT SHFT upon clicking PSD icon
Said 'Yes' to allow changes to system
    Still received same two messages
Removed the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp
Restarted Photoshop, still received same two messages.
Tried resetting, CTL ALT SHFT, again still same two messages.
Read Adobe thread to 'rename' the Actions Palette.psp, but keep it in the folder:
I renamed it 'renamed' and left the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp in the folder as well.
Did not receive the 'load actions' error, but
Still received the 'Preference file was invalid' message.
Tried CTRL ALT SHFT to reset,
Still received the 'Preference file was invalid' message.
Left the Actions as 'renamed', but removed the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp file as well.
Still received the 'Preference file was invalid' message.
Tried CTRL ALT SHFT to reset,
Still received the 'Preference file was invalid' message.
    Do I need to do a re-install?
    Thanks bunches,

I am having only the single issue:
Could not initialize Photoshop because preferences files was invalid (it has been deleted).
What happened was that I had to do a force quit (Mac OSX 10.8.4) due to Spotlight and Parallels  Win 7 running a system slowdown.   I don't believe my new HD is corrupted. BUt there has to be a way to get PShop working again..  I've tried shift start and not loading 3rd party plugins, but nothing is working.
UPDATE:  Download and reinstall fixed it after uninstalling and removing preferences.  However, you can't use the CC Applications Manager to do so. You have to do a direct download.

  • Downloaded fonts now photoshop CS not loading

We downloaded some fonts to the computer then later I tried to open Photoshop CS and it won't load. Tried deleting the offending fonts to no avail. Is there like a system restore type feature that could be used? Freaking out here... not much of a Mac person.

What most likely happened is a font conflict of some sort, Font Book can be used to remove the offending fonts.
Run this software first, it might clear the problem

    http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/9908
If that doesn'twork, you might have to c boot from the Tiger install disk and do a Archive and Install or reinstall PS.
Learn to clone your boot drive to avoid such nasty problems from catching you off guard.

Lastly since you not up to speed on Mac's, read a good book, Mac OS X Tiger: The Missing Manual for instance. Read a book on how computers work, since a Mac is a computer.
Lots of software and utilites can be found be searching versiontracker or macupdate.com.
By the way if you upgrade to PS CS2, Mac OS X Tiger will over ride the RAM limit and give you a lot better performance if you have up to around 4 GB of RAM.
If your still having problems, go to Adobe's website and visit their forums for help with PS.

  • Office 2004 and other Photoshop will not Load

Part #1 - I have Office 2004/Student Teacher Edition. It has 3 liscences. I am installing this program on my new 17inch iMac. However, when I click on Setup Assistant, you can see it load up in the dock and then it never opens. Then I try drag the files to my application and it does drag them, but then when you click on a program such as "Word", it starts to load up (shows up in the dock) then shuts down with no error message. Any clue?
Part #2 - I just also installed Photoshop CS2 and it installed fine...however when I go to open it in my applications folder it does the same thing that Word does...starts to load up shows up in the dock then Shuts Down with any error message.
Does anyone have a clue what the heck this is?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi Queso!
"1. I recently repaired disk permissions, which took an abnormally lengthy amount of time -- but the computer rebooted without any problems"
There is usually no need to restart the Mac after running Repair Permissions.
Unless you ran it while started up from the install disc.
Or are you referring to running Repair Disk?
Regardless, run Repair Disk & Repair Permissions now, instructions below, and post the results.
THESE ARE THE STEPS FOR USING DISK UTILITY TO REPAIR YOUR HD
1.Insert the System Install disk, Mac OS X CD-ROM disk, or Restore DVD disk, then restart the computer while holding the C key. Use the System disk, of the OS, that is currently installed.
2.Once started up from CD or DVD, choose Disk Utility from the Installer contextual menu, on the Menubar at the top of the screen.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
    3.Click the First Aid tab.
4.Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5.Select your Mac OS X volume, if necessary.
6.Click Repair. If DU reports errors it has fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported.
7.When finished, select Quit Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
8.Select Quit Installer from the Installer menu.
9.In the resulting pop-up window, choose restart.
10.After the computer has restarted, you can eject the CD.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
    2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
Rerun RP until the only messages reported, are listed here Spurious Permissions Errors Using: 10.3.x, authored by Michael Conniff
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".
    Good Luck!

  • Photoshop Cloud Not Loading on Mac OSX 10.8.2

The manager download and said that it installed the app. The app is listed in the applications folder but the icon for the app is whited out with a circle and a line thru it.  When I try to load it it just says " Can't Load..  May be damaged or incomplete."  Need to get this up and running ASAP as I'm already paying for it and have jobs waiting.
    Thank you.

Mikey do you receive this message when opening Photoshop CS6 from the Applications folder?  If so then please uninstall using the Uninstaller located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  You should then be able to reinstall through the Adobe Application Manager.
If you continue to face difficulties then I would recommend reviewing your installation logs to determine what errors maybe occurring during the install process.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret your installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.

  • PhotoShop CS2 not loading image

I've been working with CS2 for the past two years with no problem but as of last week, when I open my CS2 and try to open an image, the image does not display in my work area but it displays in my layers menu, nav menu, etc... Is there a setting that was accidentaly changed or did something else happen. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck.
    Any advice or suggestions?
    thanks

The image is probably off the screen.
try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
(A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.)

  • CS3 Photoshop will not load images

I have just recently run into a problem with my CS3 Photoshop. When I try to go through File> Open and choose a .jpg .gif and even .psd file I get an error message saying: ' could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.'
When I open in Illustrator there is no issue. Or when I go directly to the file and use Open with, then direct it to Photoshop it opens fine.  However, if I need to open another image file I get the error message again. What can I do with this?

  • Photoshop Elements not loading and shows error

I have a sony vaio lap with win-8 OS and the PS Elements licensed version came built in and now the thing is my friend has unknowingly uninstalled PS and now i have restored it by running the system restore. But the problem is now it is restored but when i try to start it is not starting and shows an error "PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS CANNOT START OR CONTINUE BECAUSE OF MISSING FILE(S). PLEASE REISTALL "
can anyone help me to fix this thing out...........!

You may need to install the licensing update:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Install_the_licensing-s ervice
If that doesn’t work, try Adobe’s troubleshooting steps, which include reinstalling with all background services including anti-virus disabled (what Adobe calls “simplified mode”) and running as administrator:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Try_Adobe’s_generic
The Adobe tech note explains how to run in simplified mode.  Note that on Vista, running a program as administrator is different than running it from an administrator account – the tech note explains how to do that.

  • Problem with Photoshop CS not loading image.

Hi, I recently had a hard drive problem and had it replaced. I backed up all my files on an external drive.
I moved over all my files and applications. Photoshop runs and opens with no problem.
The problem I'm having is if I double click on a .psd file it launches Photoshop but it do not open the file.
The program never did that before. Is there something that I did not copy over correctly?
Only way I can open a file is File>Open>
And I find that to be aggrivating.
I'm hoping I do not have to re-install Photoshop because I have my original software in storage.
    Hoping for a quick fix.
    Thanks

Be extremely careful  messing with your system settings.
In the Finder try  using Command I on any representative file. Then change "open with" to Photoshop, and then use the 'change all' button. If this does still not automatically open the file in Photoshop on double click, then make sure you have run  this application http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html on your disk.

  • Photoshop CS2 not loading

Did a bit of house cleaning on my hard drive and now PS-CS2 won't open.
I tried loading it again but it gets right through the load then comes up with a message to try loading it again.
I got rid of CS3-beta in case that was causing a problem but that didn't help. After loading it about 4 times without any luck I decided to load Photoshop 7.
That loaded ok so I tried again to load CS3 but still got the same message.
I'm out of ideas so would appreciate any help I can get.
    Thanks

I think you're going to have to be a little more specific about the "house cleaning".

  • I have Adobe Photoshop elements that was installed on my XP windows machine. I have got Windows 8 now with iternet explorer 11 a brand new machine but photoshop will not load onto it, it says internet explorer 5 or higher needed, please help

any thoughts on this problem, I find no version stated on the photoshop elements program. sorry it says internet explorer 4 or higher need which is what I have.

Message to use a new version of IE
There is a problem with IE10+ in that it is mistakenly seen as being IE1.  To get around this either use a different browser or use compatibility view (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-10)
