Photoshop 7 setup.exe won't start

Hello everyone !
Thank you for reading my question and taking some time to help me. Much appreciated
I have some troubles with my photoshop 7. When I click on the exec setup file, it starts and then stops. Nothing happens, no window, no error message, just the exec doesn't launch.
The setup exe seems to be running in the task manager but appart from this, zero.
I've tried the administrator mode, the XP compatibility mode, the installation files copied on the C drive, ... nothing works.
I'm running a Windows 7 64 bits system, 8GB ram, and an SSD drive on C:.
Could someone help me with this issue ?
I've looked into the previous discutions on this website about similar issue but it was on different versions of Photoshop.
If my question has been already asked, please forgive me as a first-time user of the adobe community !
Best regard

The ScriptingSupport.8li that comes with Photoshop CS5.1 should have the module version 12.1.0.0 as well.
It sounds as if you have done something where you have mixed modules from an older version of Photoshop (CS3) into those that Photoshop CS5 is enumerating during startup.
Did you, by chance, copy the entire contents of a folder (e.g. plug-ins or scripts) and get extra files you didn't intend?
Have you set an Extra plug-ins folder up to point to the plug-ins for an earlier version of Photoshop?
Mixing up versions of Photoshop is a no-no.
You may want to start by clearing your Photoshop  preferences...  Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt immediate after cold-starting Photoshop.  If you're quick enough, and you have to be VERY quick to get the keys down, it will prompt you to confirm deletion of the preferences it already has set up, which will then cause it to use defaults.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 won't start but  I see Photoshop.exe running in Task Manager!

I just updated Photoshop CC 2014 today - October 6, 2014, and it won't start. I does not give any warnings or errors. Windows 7 Pro. If I check Windows Task Manager, I see Photoshop.exe running, but it never opens on my desktop.

Just so anyone that sees this will know the sequence of events:
I updated Photoshop CC 2014 and many other CC updates today
I restarted my machine (Windows 7 Pro)
    Clicked Photoshop Start Icon
Photoshop did not start, but Photoshop.exe appears in Windows Task Manager (WTM) under Processes tab (approx. 8 MB of Memory used)
If I click Photoshop Start Icon multiple times, multiple EXEs appear in WTM
Tried right-clicking Photoshop.exe(s) and Ending Processes, then Running Photoshop again (same result)
Restarted my machine a second time
    Now Photoshop CC 2014 runs
I will add an update here if things change.
    Thanks for the help everyone!

  • Setup.exe won't run on Windows XP?

I am trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Windows XP (Pro).
When I run setup.exe, nothing happens. The task manager process
list shows that setup starts and it starts jrew.exe, then both
disappear from task manager process list and nothing happens.
How do you install on Windows XP?

I am haveing the same problem, but with Win 2000 Server
I tried running the third tier setup i.e. \\install\win32\setup.exe
Doesn't work either. I disabled most of the services on my server, even terminal services (which requires the install from ad-remove progs)sitll no show.
It is an older Proliant server w. Quad P1's @200mhz but I think it meets the minimum requirements. And if it doesn't shouldn't I get an error?
I am trying to install this for home eval in my DBA cert class.
    Anyone?

  • Oracle 9.2 setup.exe won't run on P3 with Win2K SP3

    Hi, everyone:
We had difficulty in installing Oracle 9.2 onto our Dell P3 Latitude C800 laptop running Win2K Professional with SP3. As many of you already reported, after double clicking "setup.exe", it won't run and nothing happened. We tried to run "autorun.exe" but that didn't work either. We also changed the system Temp/Tmp environment variables but no help either. Since our laptop is P3, not P4, not sure whether changing the symcjit.dll name would help.
This seems to be a Java issue but not sure exactly what caused the problem. We had TrendMicro's OfficeScan AV s/w installed. Is that the problem? What other commonly used s/w are Java based and may cause conflict with Oracle installer? We only have MS Office, VisualBasic, UltraEdit, Acrobat, WinZip, and GetRight installed on the laptop.
Are there any other suggestions for us to try? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

  • Jcontrol.exe won't start, installation WAS6.40 sp9 stops

    L.S.
I have downloaded the marked 'new' SAP Netweaver enterprise portal on MAxdb, developer edition Sneak Preview and tried to install it on my laptop.
After several bumps in the road I got 98% of the WAS6.40 done but the installation stops at 'Start SAP J2EE Engine' . Looking in SAPMMC I find proces jcontrol.exe is stopped and won't start again. I need this up and running fast, because I (and several colleges) need this to prepare for the TEPD20 course starting in March.
I Searched SDN and Googled my way through the net, but nothing there that helped. I tried so far:
    - reinstall everything again.
    - Setting my regional settings to English
    - Uninstalling Microsoft Virtuel machine
Does anyone have any idea how to get this running?
Btw I have j2sdk1.4.2_07 installed, and 2GB ram.
    Regards,
    Hans van der Kooij

How ironic.  Just after I post, I finally get it to work.
    Here's what I did:
    1. Get the installation to the point of Starting J2EE server, at which it fails.
    2. Open the server configuration tool, which can be found at /usr/sap/J2E/JC00/j2ee/configtool
    3. Once you get the config tool happily talking to SapDB, change the values for Max Heap from 1024MB for the J2EE server (server_IDsomebignumber) to 512MB.  You also need to change the vm parameters box to decrease the -Xms param to 512MB as well.
    4. Make the same changes on the "Servers General" tab of the instance_IDsomebignumber node.
Once I decreased the amount of heap size allocated by the servers I was able to start them successfully using the SAP Management Console
    5. Start the installer again, and continue the existing installation.  It finishes successfully.
It seems to me that SAP could fix this problem just by changing the default heap sizes for the servers.  I would suggest that they should.

  • Setup.exe won't compete to allow driver installation

I've been using my K7N2 Delta2 Platinum motherboard without issues for years now.  Made no system changes whatsoever but a windows update caused me tons of issues.  I took the opportunity to clear out all my files and start from scratch.  Reformatted the drive, reinstalled Windows XP Home.  Then I downloaded the driver files from MSI, put it on the desktop and ran setup.exe.  The MSi screen comes up, then the install shield wizard initializes, then closes.
I am missing all my important drivers and I'm sort of stuck on what to try next.  I've downloaded a fresh copy, same old.
    Any thoughts, PLEASE!!!

No av software on as this was a clean, reformatted install, and since the ethernet driver isn't working I haven't put anything on yet.
I tried in safe mode, same thing.
I just reformatted and reinstalled windows, again.  I had left everything (printer, router...) plugged in when I installed windows last time.  Just in case, or some glitch installing windows started fresh again.
Running a memory test now, so far so good.
As soon as that is done I'll try again.
    Any other ideas???

Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) for RDBMS 8.1.x Hangs on Machines with Pentium 4 Processors ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Versions Affected ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oracle Universal Installer version 1.7.1.9.0 and earlier versions (bundled with products in 8.1.X CD packs). Platforms Affected ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any platform that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor with Sun JRE and Symantec JIT will encounter this problem. Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 98 and NetWare operating systems are confirmed to be affected. Description ~~~~~~~~~~~ The Oracle Universal Installer hangs when installing Oracle 8.1.x Server and Client products on machines that use Sun JRE and Symantec JIT. Likelihood of Occurrence ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any Oracle Universal Installer 1.7.1.9.0 and earlier installation on a platform that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor, with the Sun JRE and Symantec Just in Time Library (JIT) will encounter this problem. Possible Symptoms ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The failure is manifested in these ways: - The affected application simply terminates. - The installer hangs, quits, dies or disappears. - The hourglass appears, disappears and nothing else happens. Fix ~~~ 1. Obtain the OUI application (~15.3MBs) under patch number 1507768 in Metalink: a. Click Patches button b. Enter 1507768 in the Patch Number field c. Click Submit d. Download the patch 2. Unzip the patch to a temporary directory. 3. Uncompress the resulting Jar file (~20MBs). 4. Navigate to the following subdirectory under the temporary directory where the patch was unzipped and rename symcjit.dll cd <temporary_directory>\Disk1\stage\Components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1\DataFiles\Expanded\jre\win32\bin Rename symcjit.dll to symcjit.dll.old 5. Navigate to: cd\Disk1\install\win32 6. Run the setup.exe program from the current directory and install the OUI to your hard disk. 7. Use/Invoke this installed OUI from Start menu > Programs, to install Oracle 8.1.x and related products. Workarounds ~~~~~~~~~~~ Workaround 1: 1. Create a temporary directory on your server. 2. Copy the entire contents of the Oracle RDBMS Server CD to the temporary directory created in step 1. 3. Search the directory structure created in Step 1 for the existence of the filename symcjit.dll. 4. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old. 5. Run the setup.exe from the install\win32 directory (under the directory on your hard disk used in Step 1) and install Oracle 8.1.x and related products. Workaround 2: If you continue to experience any of the symptoms after performing Workaround 1, follow these steps: 1. Copy the contents of the \install directory on your CD-ROM to a temporary directory on your hard disk. 2. Search for all copies of the 'symcjit.dll' file both in and under the directory from Step 1, and rename them to 'symcjit.old'. 3. Navigate to the directory you created in Step 1, and open the 'oraparam.ini' file for editing. Please note this file is write-protected, and the properties of the file must be changed to allow writing before editing. 4. Change the JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS parameter to JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit -ms64m -mx128m 5. Save the oraparam.ini file. 6. Navigate to the win32 subdirectory, under the directory you usedin Step 1, and run the setup.exe program. If you have tried Workarounds 1 and 2 and still experience problems, please do the following: Workaround 3: 1. Navigate to: Start> Settings > Control Panel > System 2. Select the "Advanced" tab 3. Click the "Environment Variables" button 4. Highlight the PATH entry and click "Edit..." 5. Copy down the current PATH setting. 6. Remove any entries that refer to previous JRE directories Note: Care should be taken when editing the system path. Incorrect edits can prevent Windows or other applications from starting properly. 7. If any entries were removed, repeat Workaround 1 or 2. Patches ~~~~~~~ Patch 1507768 is available on Metalink, and should be installed using the Fix section of this article. • Ora10g_win64_cient Setup.exe does not start

    Hello Everybody,
I downloaded ora10g_win64_client (10.1.0.2) and I try to install it on Windows 2003 Enterprise SP1 for Itanium 2 but when I try to launch setup.exe then a black windows named Oracle Universal Installer appear on the screen.
On this window the following message are displayed...
    Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
No pre-requisite checks found in oraparam.ini, no system pre-requisite checks will be executed.
Preparing to launch Oracle Universal Installer from C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI\~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\OraInstall2007-01-23_06-04-52PM. Please wait...
After 5 seconds the window disappear and the Oracle Universal Installer does not start.
Do you have any idea to solve that problem?
    Thanks and best regards
    David Lindemann

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply to my thread but I already did what you suggested without success and after further investigations we found that the problem is in the jre. The java.exe does not work, it return an unknown error. We tried to download the jre from SUN in order to use it instead of the one delivered by Oracle and it worked the installation succeeded.
But now we have a new problem, the Network Configuration Assistant does not work an exception is throw by the oranjini10.dll

  • Downloaded Discoverer4.1: can't install (setup.exe won't run)

    Hi,
Just downloaded Discoverer 4.1 (admin4133f.zip) and unzip files in directory c:\temp (along with Oracle Forms and Report and Oracle 8i zip files) but whenever i run setup.exe nothing happens.
I've already got Oracle Personal Edition 8i and Developer 6i installed in my pc.
    thanks

I've already got Oracle Personal Edition 8i and Developer 6i installed in my pc.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I've eccounted the similar installation problem - Oracle Discoverer installation at the OracleHome that already has Oracle Reports lead to setup.exe fail. This is noted since Discoverer 3.1.+ and Reports 3+
Try to install Discoverer into another OracleHome.
If installing in the same Home - Discoverer must be the first, Reports - the second...
(By the way - watch for the 9iAS EE installation - you'll see Discoverer goes first :) )

  • AfterFX.exe won't start - missing FTL.dll error

This is part of the Creative Suite CS3. All other components work. AfterfX.exe will not start. I reinstalled but no change.
I'm on a Gateway FX540b with Vista Home Premium. I have not applied SP1 yet.
    Any ideas?

Is your system up to the latest patch level otherwise? Do you use any CoDec packs on your system? The issue is not dependent on the DLL - there is no such a thing as an ftl.dll (though it would be nice, as according to "Galactica" lore it means "faster than light" and would accelerate your computer a trillion times *giggle*) :-) Remove any CoDec packs you may have on your system. Also look into alternate media players like MPlayer Classic or VLC - they sometimes bent your media file handling assignments in unpredictable ways and may thus screw AE. As an last item, temporarily disable any security tools you may have on the system. If they are protecting or deep-scanning some files, they will respond to any access of those files in similarly unpredictable ways.

    Hi,
We were getting similar errors after installing Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 Design Premium on Windows XP Professional SP3 and attempting to run the software as a standard user in the 'Domain Guests' group:

In each of these cases, I found eventually that the problem was because the user account that I was testing with was a member of the 'Domain Guests' group on the domain. (Other posts online seem to indicate that the same problem may occur if accounts are set up to use mandatory profiles, a Windows domain feature). In every case removing the user from the Domain Guests group and then logging on again resolved the problem.
I have yet to find a workaround for this issue other than removing the user from the Domain Guests group which does not involve removing some of the functionality from this software. Indeed if you run the software as a member of the local 'Guests' group, you get an error stating that this is not supported.
However if Adobe would like to troubleshoot the problem, it may well be caused by a call to RSACryptoServiceProvider and/or CryptAcquireContext returning NTE_TEMPORARY_PROFILE, as described in the following MSDN blog post:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/alejacma/archive/2007/10/23/rsacryptoserviceprovider-fails-when-us ed-with-mandatory-profiles.aspx
It seems as if these API calls were not designed to be called in the context of a mandatory and/or temporary profile (such as that created for a Domain Guest user account), and so if Adobe need to use these calls in their programs, they need to handle the NTE_TEMPORARY_PROFILE error and work around it if possible. (Searching for 'NET_TEMPORARY_PROFILE' in Google brings up a few possibilities).
If you are trying to use the software in the mean time try removing your user account from the 'Domain Guests' group and see if this helps.
