Photoshop 9 Deactivating When Switching From Boot Camp to Parallels....?

I have Adobe Photosop Elements 9 on my macbook, which I use both in native Boot Camp and in Parallels. I keep getting a window which says "this serial number has already been activated on two machines, please deactivate one of the other machines and retry, or purchase a new licence". The same copy is installed on my home PC. Presumably whenever I switch from Parallels to Boot Camp or vice versa, the Adobe licence check recognises the macbook in its new mode as a third machine, when in fact it is the same BootCamped copy of windows that i am running under parallels. How do I make Photoshop 9 see my macbook as the same machine, whether under Parallels or BootCamp ?

You can tell Parallels to use your Bootcamp installation as the virtual machine. You don't need to do anything with Bootcamp then but access it from Parallels. No need to uninstall it. You then can access your Windows without rebooting, or if you want to you still have the option to boot into bootcamp whenever you get the urge to do so.
No you can't just drag the Bootcamp partition to the trash.

  • Migrate from Boot Camp to Parallels

I've followed the threads about using the Boot Camp partition as a VM in Parallels, but I want to know if there is an advantage to keeping the Boot Camp partition if I doubt I'll ever need to re-boot into Boot Camp. I'm thinking I want to migrate my WinXP installation from Boot Camp into Parallels, and then delete the Boot Camp partition alltogether. How would I do this, and am I just making extra work for myself?

  • Using windows from boot camp on parallels

i would like to switch from bootcamp to parallels. is there some way that i could use the windows that came with boot camp windows after i switch or do i have to buy a new one?

One other thing that may not be obvious in Parallels is the update process. I don't know if mine was just weird or what but I got it April 2010 & whenever I checked for updates it said i was up to date. I was a little suspicious that there were no updates in that period. When I began to have trouble I went to Parallels forums & found stickies at the top of general forum giving the lastest builds (updates) for Parallels 4, 5, 6. So since they listed them there I'm guessing it may not always update by checking for them. So the lastest ones are listed there. I think it is supposed to ask when you install if you want to check for the lastest 1. Can't remember if it did for me or not, but I did discover that there were several builds (updates) newer than the 1 I had.
It was nice being able to run both OS's at the same time. I'm missing it now & looking forward to getting resolution of whatever is causing the problems & getting back to using Parallels.

  • Converting from Boot Camp to Parallels

What is the best way to do this? I don't mind re-installing XP isteslf, but what about my existing apps on the XP partition? What is the best way to back-up for a parallels re-install?

What you are talking about is a Physical to Virtual Migration, which I've done a lot in the Virtual Infrastructure we have at work.. using VMware. and Ultimate P2V.
The problem is that you have to some how inject device drivers for your Parallels Virtual machine in to a cloned image.. and other than creating the driver injection yourself I don't think there's any scripts out there at all.. since parallels is so new.
but the answer is, yes you can do it but you will run in to blue screens unless you know how to inject drivers in to your migrated machine... also because XP is usually a single machine license, you will have to reactivate your XP after migration...
easiest way is to probably create a parallels XP install..

  • I just downloaded bootcamp 3.1 to upgrade from 3.0.  I am using Snow Leopard.  is there anything special I have to do run the upgrade version when I open Boot Camp Assistant?? Thank you

    Hi everyone
I am running Snow Leopard on my early 2006 MBP.  I just downloaded Boot Camp 3.1 so I can upgrade 3.0.  Is there anything special I need to do to "install" 3.1 so that when I run Boot Camp Assistant it uses 3.1 instead of 3.0?  Thank You.

The Boot Camp 3.1 drivers you downloaded have to be installed in Windows after running Boot Camp Assistant. That update does not apply to Boot Camp Assistant, and as you are using Mac OS X 10.6.8, you are using the most recent Boot Camp Assistant version for Snow Leopard.
Once you have installed Windows with Boot Camp, insert the Snow Leopard DVD in Windows and install the Boot Camp 3.0 drivers. Then, install the Boot Camp 3.1 drivers

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
That's because the Boot Camp volume was created, but your Mac hasn't been set up to start automatically from the Windows disc. Insert the Windows DVD and press C key while your Mac is starting to start Windows installation.
If you want to make sure that everything is correct, open Boot Camp Assistant and choose the option to remove Windows 7. Then, open that application again, select the option to install Windows 7 and you will be able to install Windows as usual

  • "Booting from Boot Camp Assistant created USB Drive...Failed to load BOOTMGR"

Hi Apple Ppl of the Wrld: I need help I been working on installing windows 8 on my Mac.
    Spec of equipment:
    Mac Book Pro Mid 2012
    Bootcamp Version: Version 5.0.4 (473)
Bootable USB Flash Drive: Type Scan disk 4 GB windows 8 pro iso image but without the driver and the 2nd Scan disk USB flash drive with 32 GB with the Bootcamp Drivers downloaded and saved to this drive.
Please Note: I also have the original back up installation disc for Microsoft 8 Prof 64 from Microsoft where I purchased it from.
1st Bootcamp is not recognizing the Original Microsoft 8 Pro backup disk from microsoft itself.
Solution: I created the New Image from the Original Microsoft installed disc in my desk top and changed the extension to .ISO then burned the ISO image into the newly purchased DVD+R. Then I ran Bootcamp Once again and it get the following error message "The installer disc could not be found -- Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized. Solution
2: Created a bootable usb drive with bootcamp assistant successfully with bootcamp. Yes I close, ejected or un-mounted any image that was open or had been previously used then i restarted the Mac. Next, I start the bootcamp assistant tool once again then i get the same insert your windows installer disc message.
3: Then I try to resolve the installer disc not found issue: this are the steps i took: a). Lauch disc utilities
        1. Selected the top most drive 750 GB Macintosh HDD
        2. On the right you’ll see 5 tab buttons: First Aid | Erase | Partition | RAID | Restore.
        3. Choose Partition. Then I clicked + to add another partition size of the partition was 222 GB
        4. Change the Name of the Partition to BOOTCAMP
        5. Change the Format to MS-DOS (FAT)
        6. Click Apply to save the changes and then reboot your Mac and we’ll begin Windows installation.
        7. During reboot, press and hold the alt/Option key and you’ll be presented with drives to boot from.
        8. Use the arrow keys and return button to select the Windows yellow USB key drive containing your Windows 8 installation files.
        9. This will begin the Windows install. --> then i get the following message: "Booting from Boot Camp Assistant created USB Drive...Failed to load BOOTMGR".
4: Take the Mac to best buy and let them resolve the issue and charge me like a million dollars for it :'( since i have no other idea who to get this bootcamp working at all. This has been a terribly lengthy issue and it is not as simple as it is claimed to be since i started with the Original Windows Disc Purchased from Microsoft and I have the Optical disc drive which it should be simpler from what I understand.
Please can you help It would be of great help.

from what i understand you are trying to install win 8 pro from a "backup disk" the one that you purchased from microsoft.
this will not work, it is not an installer disk.
you need to start the process again. erase the partition you made on your hdd. in disc utility click the minus button after selecting the bootcamp partition, then manually drag the divider down fully then apply.
next, erase your usb then format it.
    download win 8 iso from here;
    http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/download-windows-8-pro/
it is perfectly legal to use your purchased product key in this install.
in bootcamp select the iso image you just downloaded, select your preferred partition size, check all 3 options.
you have the support software on another usb but you wont need it so it can be discarded. the install will work far better with the iso and support on the same drive.

  • I can't start windows 7 normally from Boot Camp

I can't start windows 7 normally from Boot Camp.
It was running fine since I have installed it 7 months ago, but now it can't start or (restart) normally (safe mode is ok). It displays a black screen after showing the logo, and I have to shut down the machine. My Mac system is working fine. Mac technician (Genius Bar) has run a surface scan to verify hd integrity and proofed ok, but could not give any advice on Windows issues.
Please advice if anything I should do before cleaning up my partition and reinstall Windows.

I would guess and sorry for asking but you already tried booting from Windows 7 DVD and doing auto repair?
There are dozens of things to look at and do, and begin with chkdsk in Windows, yes but that only looks at one aspect. You can't really check for bad sectors on a drive's sectors. The best? to use the drive vendor's own utility actually, often with a linux boot CD or Windows program (they don't make Mac OS versions, one reason I first installed Vista over 5 yrs ago)
    Restore check points
    Uninstall last update or driver
Clean the system of debris temp files, caches, registry errors, fonts and left overs
make sure you have 20% and 12GB free space or more
A hard shutdown can create more problems.

  • Help! mail dissappears when switching from junk training to automatic mode

I'm a new Mail user recently switched from 20 years of Eudora. I'm using Mail with a standard POP account. I've had no trouble setting up mailboxes and importing my old mail.
I've been using junk filtering in training mode for the past few weeks and want to switch to automatic mode. When I tried doing this, all of my inbox messages suddenly disappeared. I quit mail and rebuilt my inbox and found myself with thousands of duplicated messages. I'm using Andreas Amann's remove duplicates script to clean up my inbox (it's taking forever but working!)
My inbox has about 7000 messages currently. My practice with Eudora has always been to keep the current year in the inbox and archive at the beginning of the new year. I'd like to continue this with Mail.
    A couple questions:
    1) will rebuilding a mailbox cause duplicates? When should one use rebuild?
    2) do I just need to be more patient and let mail do its thing when switching from training mode to automatic?
    3) is 7000 messages considered too many for a single mailbox?
Any help much appreciated. Many thanks!

    No.
    When should one use rebuild?
This question doesn’t have a simple answer in the case of Mail 2.x and POP accounts.
    2) do I just need to be more patient and let mail do its thing
when switching from training mode to automatic?
    I think so.
    3) is 7000 messages considered too many for a single mailbox?
There is a limit on the overall size of individual mailboxes rather than on the number of messages stored in them -- see Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty.

  • Boot Camp For Lion -- USB ISO Method --"Booting from Boot Camp Assistant created USB Drive...Failed to load BOOTMGR"

Hello, has anyone had experience with dealing with this speciifc problem?
In short, upon rebooting, I am getting a black screen with a line of text that says, "Booting from Boot Camp Assistant created USB Drive...Failed to load BOOTMGR." Nothing happens after that.
I am using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4. I have an ISO of Windows 7 Prof. along with an 8GB usb drive. I changed the coding in my bootcamp program to allow for the normally first invisible option that allows creation of a USB Installation program using an ISO that is normally only for computers without an optical drive.
I have that box checked, the check for new software box, and the install windows box checked. I went through the process of creating the USB, downloading the software, and partitioning the drive. Then on restart, I get the failed to load bootmgr error.
Some people have suggested using two usb drives for this. I am trying that method but it does not seem to help thus far.
    Can anyone offer any help?
    Thanks.

  • Upgraded to 4 and have noticed that when switching from page to page you get an annoying blink before the next page displays. Any suggestions?

When switching from tab to tab, Firefox 4 has a tendency to blink before displaying the new tab. Just a millisecond or so but can be annoying.

If that doesn't work, try power cycling your router, printer, and your iPad/iPhone in that order. To do this, follow these steps:
Unplug the router and printer from the power and shut off the i-devices. Let them sit for about 30 seconds and then plug just the router in.
Once the router is completely back online (usually takes about 30-60 seconds) plug the printer in. Wait until it is back on its home screen.
    Turn the i-devices on.
    Try to print again.
Let me know if this helps!
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!
