Photoshop Action Play Button Inactive

The Actions Play Button has suddenly become inactive, i.e. regardless of which Action I now select the Play Button remains unclickable.  A circle with bar appears when I hover over the Play Button.
This happened at some point while I was editing an Image in CS3 (Windows XP SP2).  I had run one (of many Actions) I have successfully.  When I came back to it (or any other Action) a short time later none of my actions could be invoked.  I have tried several different images, I am sure I have highlighted the background layer when I try any of the Actions.  I have restarted the Photoshop, and I have rebooted my computer.  I have done several web searches and seen a few other posts about this problem, but so far have been unable to find a solution.
Thanks in advance,
Ken

  • Actions play button is greyed out

Hey, I just downloaded some actions and was able to play them once and now the play button is greyed out.  I tried to google what I could do, so I deleted the actions and reloaded them all, shut down photoshop and rebooted, and still nothing.  Please help!  I am new to photoshop so it maybe a simple solution that I have made difficult!

Actions are in sets and if you highlight the name of the set, the play button will be grayed out.
If you highlight the name of the action, then play button should work.

  • Play button inactive

    Hey guys,
I bought a new computer and loaded iTunes on it last week. Unfortunately the play button will not play the music. The videos play without problem, but none of the audio. I have been reading the suggestions, but I have done the following with no luck:
    1. Uninstalled and reloaded iTunes and Quicktime
    2. Loaded Quicktime standalone
    3. Used the Windows insall cleanup
    4. Ran the msconfig with only the iTunes parts running
    5. Disabled all security
    6. Went to Device manager and changed all audio hardware to disabled
None of these things have worked. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for the help!!

  • Any way that the play button can be scripted in Photoshop?

I can't for the love of me figure out if there is a way to script the play button to a JavaScript file in Photoshop without personally setting it to the "Space button". Does anyone know of the way to script this to a JavaScript file for an extension.
p.s. I can get script-listener to create this event. I have tried.

I'm sorry, I'm not speaking about the "action" play button, I mean is there a way to script the play button on the "Video Timeline". Actions and scriptlistener does not display this option.

  • Captivate 4 - Advanced Actions - Pause/Play buttons

Hi - So I have created a 2 buttons - a pause and play - so my users can pause/play my captivate video (audio and actual slide). I have created my 2 variables for the buttons and I have created my advanced action. I'm assigning my pause to 'rdcmndPause', hide pause, show play. And I'm assigning play to 'rdcmndResume', hide play, show pause. It's not working. The pause/play buttons appear and disappear like they should - but my project isn't pausing or playing. Any thoughts?

You can create and use Widgets for Adobe Captivate 4 in AS2 as well Mike.
If you go to your Captivate Installation directory and find the "Gallery" folder and "Widgets" then you should be able to find some AS2 Widget Source files. Take a look at the "Flash Button" widget. This is a relatively simple widget and you can basically just use the code framework to make your own button widget.
If your end users have low-end systems then it's probably safer to stay with AS2 and publish towards Flash Player 8.

  • Photoshop actions not working!

HELP!!! I am unable to play any of my Photoshop actions! (I have CS5 extended and I'm working on an iMac)  They were working fine, now for some reason, whenever I mouse over the "play" button, I get a circle with a diagonal line through it. I tried deleting and reloading the actions, but the same thing happened. I have scoured the internet trying to find a solution. I would really appreciate help with this matter!!!!

Do you by chance have the action set selected and not an actual Action selected?

  • Hello  Every time I create a motion menu the play buttons have a fuzzy outl

    Hello
Every time I create a motion menu the play buttons have a fuzzy outline. I really don't like this and would love to know how to avoid it as it looks really bad and not crisp.
    Here's how i do it:
    1) I create the motion menu in AEX and add in the button here. I have the button coming in about 5 seconds after the start to give a delayed effect and this will therefore be the loop point I set in DVDSP.
    2) I then export out a Photoshop layers file from AEX and then bring this file into Photoshop to make the overlay. I'm not sure if I'm doing this step correctly as I then go Image/adjustments/levels and make the play button black
    3) I then make the menu an .m2v and bring this and the overlay .jpg file into DVDSP.
    4) When I select the play button the edges go fuzzy. This particular PLAY button was the text PLAY in white, with a black outline. Maybe this black outline had something to do with it?? I've also had heart shaped buttons for example and this does the same thing.
    Hope you can help.
    Many thanks, Margie

One thing that could help is not using a .jpg which is compressed. A .tif may work better (to some degree).
Not sure if you are using text highlights or something else when you mention you make the button black. Larger text (20pt plus, Sans Serif) can often help. Part of it also may be the selection process of what you are changing. Sounds like you are sending out the highlights as a seperate layer by itself. If so you do not not to switch it to Black, depending on the color you can map it out in DVD SP.
Another thing is that if the highlight is in the motion menu (unhighlighted) the highlighing may be slightly off of the underlying item making it a bit fuzzier. Could also be colors.
On pt 4, not sure if you mean select as "I pressed the button for the action" or as just moving to the button. If the former, then there can be a slight shift as the DVD itself moves to different place. Feathering the black edges may also help....

  • Can I use photoshop text styles and photoshop actions with creative cloud photography?

I'm really confused by this subscription pricing. If I purchase the $9.99/month, do I get the full desktop app of Photoshop and Lightroom? But I see on this page Products they list something called Photoshop CC that costs twice as much. How is that different from the Creative Cloud Photography?
My main question is whether I can use photoshop text styles and photoshop actions with Creative Cloud Photography, since I just purchased a bundle that includes these and I want to be able to use them. But I'd also like to understand what comes with all of the various products and how they are different.
My other question is how is Lightroom different from Photoshop? I have a sense of what you can do in Photoshop but I don't know much about Lightroom at all.
One more question: the free trial -- is it limited in any way besides the time length? If I do that, will I get a clear idea of all that I will be able to do once I subscribe, or are the functions limited in the trial?
I tried to just send an email to Adobe to ask these questions but apparently they are not interested in responding to emails from people who are not yet paying customers, so I was directed here. Thanks very much for your help!

I always like to trot this bit about Bridge once in a while or in the voice of the "Two Bobs" from Office Space,
"Can you tell us exactly what it is you do around here?"
    What Adobe Bridge does:
Bridge is the coordinating hub of the Creative Suite. Synchronizing color management settings for all suite programs is done from Bridge, and can only be done from Bridge, to take one important use.
Bridge displays actual thumbnails of many more file types than Finder or Explorer. It also allows instant play of sound or video files more readily than the native OS file managers.
Bridge allows direct access to file metadata, to embed copyright information  and keywords where appropriate (e.g., for corporate logo vector and raster files). It also displays the fonts used in an InDesign file, the swatches in an INDD or AI and the output plates (including spot color plates) they use.
When managing the assets for a design project, Bridge allows quick and simple sorting, rating and custom labeling (with color flash indications) of assets. I can rate images according to whether they are rejects, possibles, for review by client, or approved. The filters built into Bridge allow instant isolation of only the approved images or designs in a folder, only the rejects (for deletion) or only files with certain ratings, no matter how many files it contains. It recognizes aspect ratios, so if I only need a landscape or a 16:9 image in a folder of hundreds of images, I turn off the aspect ratios I don't need.
Once filtered, the remaining visible files can be selected and copied, moved, or deleted without affecting the rest of the contents of a folder.
Collections are a massively useful feature. One of my clients is a performing arts center, and in a season we turn out dozens of ads, flyers, brochures, web banners, playbills, billboards and other collateral using the same assets over and over. These assets are organized by artist and/or show on disk, but I set up each season's repeating assets as a Collection in Bridge, so that I just have to open the collection and drag and drop these assets into new INDD, AI, PSD, HTML (in Dreamweaver), FLA or AE projects without having to navigate from folder to folder picking up individual files.
Bridge's Favorites is another place I stack frequently-accessed folders, such as stock photography, backgrounds, and top-level folders for active projects.
Assets can be divided into subfolders, but a quick toggle of "Show items from subfolders" exposes all of the assets in a single view while maintaining their organization. I will typically keep AIs, PSDs, EPSs, stock photography and client images in separate subfolders within a project. When I'm ready to start pulling assets into an InDesign layout, I toggle this on and simply drag what I need into the layout.
Bridge comes with Adobe Camera Raw built in, which is many times faster than using Photoshop to adjust jpegs or tiffs for things like tonal range, white balance, cropping, spotting and sharpening, and is non-destructive.
One tremendously useful Bridge function for InDesign CS5+ users is the "Show linked files" feature, which opens all the linked files in a layout into a single view, regardless of where they are physically located. I often use this when doing alternative layouts from a client-approved mockup for a campaign, to be certain the same assets are used in each piece, or when creating a motion graphic or interactive piece for the campaign in After Effects or Flash.
The batch and image processing scripts built into Bridge automate things like creating web-ready small jpegs from multiple images, renaming large numbers of files in place or by copying to an alternative location, creating sets of PSD, png, jpeg or other file types from an assortment of image files, and so on.
Bridge is so much a part of my daily workflow that on my main workstation I have one monitor dedicated to it almost 100%. Bridge just sits open 24/7, ready for use. I would run at half speed without it, no question.

  • How to create a PLAY button in Encore CS5

I have a premiere pro project which I imported to Encore thru Dynamic Link.
How do I create a menu with a "play" button so that when burning it to DVD it won't play automatically.
I also want to give the option to "replay" the video at the end of it and give the option to "exit".
    thanks,

I apologize for my ignorance as I have no clue about overrides and how the timeline itself got an override.
So, I will start over by deleting the menu and the chapter markers.
I will create a new menu and make it "first play" and make the end action of the menu "stop".
I will create new chapter markers on the timeline.
I will then create buttons on the menu which I will link to each of the chapter markers.
My intent is to have the user start at the Menu and watch all chapters consecutively unless he/she forward to the next chapter and continue watching the remaining chapters.
At the end of the last chapter I want it to return to the menu.
    My questions:
Do I have to worry about the end action of every single chapter or just the last one?
    Am I missing something?

  • How make a button inactive after the click ?

    Hi,
how can i make a button inactive after i clik on it ? I need it becasue i have one button which play my symbol (made with this nice course https://blogs.adobe.com/edge/2012/07/18/tutorial-leveraging-independent-symbol-timelines/) but it's not working when the button is in the symbol where there is animation, it's only working when the buttons is a symbol on the stage and on the top of all over symbols, so when i clik on it works and play the symbol that i want but after is still active so i can't place another button at the exact same place of the first because it will play the first button and i need to put 20 buttons, anyone can help me please ? My buttons is just an empty rectangle so i don't talk about turn of the visibility but turn of th "activity"
    Thanks a lot

If you prefer you can put the code in compositionReady
Here is a sampe on how to use a next and prev buttons to change data.I have some other examples I will add later but this one could give you an idea on how to do it.
This one uses data from an array and then moves through the info:
    https://app.box.com/s/78ya0labbydgwogxra2a
If you are playing symbols then use the rigth scope to get to them.
I would make a array of the symbol names and use it the same way like I did the array for the info.
    sym.getSymbol(mysymbolArray[i]).play();

  • Is It So Much To Ask For My IPod To Start Up When I Hold The Play Button..

Why should I have to press and hold the menu & center buttons and wait a minute for my IPod to turn on? Holding the play button should turn it on and turn it off, every time. Does anyone else find this completely ridiculous?

I did a bit of research and a test over the weekend.
Even though the manual says to "press any button" to the turn the iPod on, it doesn't work on mine if it's been in "hibernation." I turned the iPod off yesterday afternoon and didn't touch it until I got up this morning. Pressed play button; nothing. Pressed rewind and forward keys; nothing. Pressed the center button, and it turned on.
So my personal experience is that it takes the Menu or Center button to turn my iPod on IF it's been in hibernation mode. (There's Sleep, Deep Sleep, then Hibernation at varying lengths of inactivity.)
But Cole, you shouldn't have to Reset (hold the Menu and Select buttons) every time you turn it on. I'd recommend trying one of these and see if yours functions similar to mine. If it does still require the Menu and Select buttons, there's definitely a problem. That could mean a Restore or a repair to resolve the problem.

  • Pause/Play button on toolbar

When running a captivate slide show, and using the pause/play
button on the customisable toolbar, we have noticed that when
clicked this button does not pause any audio that may be currently
running on the slide, therefore making the facility partly
nonsensical. Is this a feature of Captivate 3.0, or is it just me
not embedding the sound in the correct place????
    Please help.

    Hi Kate,
My instincts tell me that you are experiencing a change in
focus, but I'll tell you what I mean, and you can decide if that
may be the problem. Assuming you are publishing to SWF/HTM output
... when your movie starts, what is actually happening is, you are
opening a HTML document, and the movie (the SWF document) is
"called" (commanded to open) by that (HTM) document. Therefore,
when it is first begun, the computer's "focus" is on the HTM, not
    the SWF contained in it.
Keeping that in mind, the first time you click (an object in
the movie itself), the Windows operating system must change the
    focus
    from the HTM document
to the SWF movie, which accounts for the first "click". The
second time you click, the SWF document makes the correct
assumption that the "click" is meant to be interpreted as a command
intended for the object in the SWF movie.
This behavior may vary, depending on the browser being used,
and perhaps even the operating system (I'm guessing here, because I
don't know how Windows Vista might treat the action of clicking in
a browser window as opposed to the way Windows XP handles the same
    command-action).
Another possible cause might be the mouse itself, or its
software. You can check this easily enough, by seeing if the
failure to function always occurs on the same machine, and if it
changes when you install a different pointing device. I know from
personal experience that sometimes I have to click really firmly,
and sometimes not. I use a battery powered optical mouse, and its
behavior is subject to change as the batteries get older.
I don't know if there is any help in my comments ... I
certainly hope so. Let us know, because sometimes when one member
"hits a wall" in offering solutions, another member "sees a light"
and a difficut problem ends up having a simple solution.
    All the best,
    Larry

  • Larger Video Play Buttons in Flash

How do you get larger video play/pause buttons when importing a video in to Flash. My current buttons are too small and I need to find larger ones. How do you do that?

I've tried using different flvplayback skins and the playback buttons are all way too small. I tried following steps on how to use the Video UI Component but it doesn't seem to work. I added a "Play" button to the stage but didn't know what to name the instance of it and then how to do the Action Scripting for it. There were examples of Action Script and I tried the examples and they didn't work.

  • Adding actions to buttons...

I created a slide show in flash (I'm very new to Flash). The
    slideshow
works great so far. I recently added some buttons to the
    slideshow (each in
their own respective layers) and the buttons are Prev, Play,
    Stop, Next. I
want to add actions to each of those buttons with the action
    script. I want
the Stop button to simply stop the movie whenever you press
    the button, the
play button I want to simply play the slideshow if one has
    pressed the stop
button (by default my slideshow starts when it loads). The
    next and play
buttons are obvious what they will do. I'm wondering how I go
    about adding
these actions to each button. I know how to add them to the
    buttons but I
just don't know the proper Action Script code. Can anyone
    help me out with
this. Can't seem to find a good tutorial on it!
