Photoshop actions in other Adobe apps?

I have just done a simple job in Acrobat a 4 colour book backed by 4 colours changed to 4 colours backrd by one colour, to reduce plinting costs!
all I had to do was replace every other colour spread with a black and white spread. A bit labourious but no problem! The problem is the book is 128pp there are 3 different versions and they are in 11 languages. A Photoshop type "Actions" would be wonderful. Anybody got any advice.

These Batch processes seem to refere only to pre-flighting. Years ago I used a package called Quickeys, that worked just like 'Actions' in any App on the Mac but it has lost its eligant simplicity, so I am hoping for an alternative! If there isn't one I will just have to go back to Quickeys

Optimize process designing with Photoshop (or other Adobe apps)

I am searching for a long time to optimize my process, and I want to ask you if there is a solution to what I am looking for:
1. can I create a custom panel in Photoshop CS5 where I can save smart objects? for later use?, I am working with Mini-Bridge, but I wonder if it is posibble to create a stand alone panel from Mini-Bridge for a specific folder (where I will save smart objects)? it is like the "Library" in other Adobe apps, like Illustrator...
2. Is there any tool for Adobe where I can work on a "Project" and not on a file or image or illustration or movie? something that will let me manage and control all my adobe software relative to a Project?
for a website, I design in Photoshop, and I need to save colors during my work, for the specific project, and I will use this branding colors in other applications, I will use a library ob objects, vector and not-vector objects, that i will need to use during all the process (to share panels), so - is there any tool that give me "the all picture"?

Ad 1) You would not need to save Smart Objects in containing files, but could just save psd, tif, psb, pdf and the place them.
While it might be possible to create a separate Panel that may even preview a specific folder I doubt it would be worth the trouble.
If you work on Mac putting a folder into Places makes it available from the open-, save as- or place-dialogs without affecting your Mini Bridge.
Ad 2) If you mean you want to, for example, change a color and that change should be reflected in objects (type, graphics, layers …) in ai-, indd- and psd-files (possible even without opening them) I don’t think there is an option available currently.

Photoshop 2014 UI smaller than my other Adobe apps on Surface Pro...

I recently purchased a MS Surface Pro 3. For some reason the user interface is smaller in Photoshop than any other Adobe program. The experimental 200% UI preference makes Photoshop FAR to large. I don't know what Adobe is thinking.
All of the other Adobe app interfaces are a nice usable size. Is there any way to get the Photoshop interface to be the same size as other Adobe apps?

Is it normal for Photoshop to have smaller menus than the other Adobe products thought?

Call Photoshop Action from other APP?

Hi Everyone,
Anybody has any experience to run any Photoshop action using a binary .EXE file?
For example, I want to let Photoshop execute a filter action from my own application?
I know that DROPLET can do this, what I did is that I use System("Droplet.exe somefile") to launch the Photoshop action. However, I got enough trouble doing this with the UAC of Windows7, there're intermittently "Droplet couldn't communicate with Photoshop" error showing up, and UAC always prompt you the warning message. I tried lots of ways "Run as Administrators" etc, but the error shows again even though the previous time it worked!
Finally, I think it's time to give up droplet and thinking of other way of doing this.
I just simply want a ".exe" or something that can let my application tell Photoshop to run a simple action (with no parameters). I'm not sure whether PostMessage/SendMessage can do this or not on Windows. If anybody has any idea, please let me know.

By the way, I also learned that Photoshop API is not thread safe, so that an "inception thread" of a plugin in the Photoshop causes unpridictable crashes, and you cannot do that in a separate thread.

Is there other adobe apps that are available for tablets other than apple?

I see that there are several apps that are available for apple users. And I didnt know that photoshop was available to other devices until now. Either i am blind or it isnt as advertised.
Is photoshop the only app available to other devices other than apple?
Also, are these apps available to those who have the creative cloud subscription? or do you have to buy the mobile apps?

Adobe apps on Android. Apps like Ideas and Kuler used to be there but not sure why they were eventually pulled. Not enough interest, maybe? (I believe Kuler eventually went free for iOS.)
You have to buy the apps outright since those are closed electronic marketplaces that have no mechanism to connect to another marketplace (like Creative Cloud). The consolation is that if you stop subscribing to Creative Cloud, you'll keep any apps you've bought.

Do I have to purchase Photoshop Touch or other touch apps for my phone with active CC subscription?

I signed up for photographer program combo PSCC and LR5. Touch apps downlouad was enabled in CC desktop. But now I wonder if I have to pay for download to my phone from Play Store

Logtransport2 error in Lightroom 6 or other Adobe app

I now get a logtransport2.exe erro in Windows 7 whenever I close the computer since upgrade to LR6. There are logtransport.exe files associated with all the Adobe apps so I can't be positive it is due to LR6. How can I fix this?

Apologies, I've only just realised that you're still having trouble....I thought the instructions in my original link would have been easy to follow, but didn't realise that you were still on XP (though the instructions are more or less the same as Windows 7).
So, starting over, the simplest way to fix the problem that you've inadvertently created is to reset the Lightroom Preferences file. As Geoff has pointed out, the location of the file (called Lightroom 3 Preferences.agprefs) is in C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences.
You just need to use Windows Explorer to go find that file and delete it, it's as simple as that, and you'll then be able to start Lightroom again. However, because the Application Support folder is hidden by default, that may be tripping you up. In which case, simply open the Start Menu and type "%appdata%\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences" (without the quotes) into the Start Menu "Run..." dialog. That will open Explorer with the Preferences folder opened, so simply delete the preferences file contained therein.

How do I sync themes I create in the app with the the Kuler website and other Adobe apps?

To sync color themes created on your iphone, you need to sign in to the app. You can do this by clicking the settings icon (in the top right corner). Then click "Sign in". You themes will now start syncing with the Kuler website and will also be accessible in other apps like Adobe Ideas and Illustrator CC.

Yes, makes some sense, but the main doubt is: Adobe Ideas don't reconizes .ase files...the only way in which I could make it work was saving the theme created as an image file (jpeg in instance) and email me this file, opening in Ideas and "catching" the colors as I would do with any other image. There's a way somebody could import this themes into Ideas?
The Kuler page says this:
"The color themes you create with the Kuler app can be synced to the Kuler website, an online community for color enthusiasts, for use with other Adobe applications such as Illustrator and Adobe Ideas."
How one can do this? Theres no option in kuler like "Open in" when you save a theme, and Ideas don't recognizes the .ase files generated, so this is the main doubt:
How one can import or sync, whatever, a theme generated in Kuler (the app or the site) into Ideas?

Photoshop CS6 (and other Adobe applications) keep crashing

The crashing started with the Retina update for Photoshop and Illustrator. At first the occasional crash happend, but now it's doing it litreally every 2 minutes! I don't think its a problem with my system since the issue started as soon as I got the Retina update and I've had no issues prior. If it helps I have the 2.3GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB 1600MHz RAM, Retina Macbook Pro with OS X version 10.8.2. I'm not sure if all of the Adobe applications are affected, but I know Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are.

EDIT: I've noticed that when I press the T key in InDesign to bring up the type tool, the application crashes. Trying this in Photoshop it doesn't! Very strange.

We can't help you with InDesign crashes in this forum.
And to figure out the cause of a crash, we'd need to see the entire crash report, not just the first few lines.
But you should make sure that all the applicaitons are up to date.

We need some information about Photoshop CS4 and Other Adobe Products Purchase

We purchased Photoshop CS4 Extended for our educational use as Volume License...
When we purchased the following products:
1. Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended
2. Adobe Dreamweaver CS4
3. Adobe Page Maker 7.0
4. Adobe Flash CS4 Professional
we only got the "SERIAL NO. (VL) with Licence Certificate". We didn't get any Application CD/DVD media or Manuals.?
Then we downloaded and installed the product with the serial supplied. product is working fine.. but if Adobe is charging such amount for their product, then the Applicatio Media & Manuals should be issued for the client.

For the past several years, manuals come as PDF files, even if you buy the retail license. Do you hate the environment and want to kill trees?
Downloaded files should be backed up on a blank DVD.
Your purchasing agent should have been aware that a license and media are two separate purchases for volume customers.

Adobe is not 'charging such amount'. You have the cheapest license available and have the same product as a retail user. Appreciate it.

Is the Cloud going to replace the hard copy of Photoshop and every other Adobe software?

I just got a petition web address regarding Adobe's initiative to only come out with a Cloud Version of CS and I assume every other of their software. Personally I dont' like "renting" or leasing, but having my own copy, car, house, appliances, software.
Can someone confirm this please?

Adobe’s repeated evasion on this matter is deeply troubling and implies the worst — that LR5 is the end of the line. How to Step through Scripts that are sent to other Adobe Apps?

A newbie question. In the ExtendScript Toolkit, I'm examining a script that uses BridgeTalk to send a script to Photoshop. I understand how to step through and examine the variables and functions that execute within the Bridge application. But how can I step through and examine the variables that are sent to the Photoshop application? The script executes without breaking as soon as the BridgeTalk script is sent.

I not sure that you can… What you may be able to do in some cases… is comment out the sending of the bridgetalk message and write the script constructed string message body to the toolkit console… That you might be able to cut and paste to a new script window and run with #target photoshop your other option would be to add lines $.writeln( variable ); at the relevant places in the message body construction…

Drag 'n Drop to other Adobe Apps

Hello...
I searched the forum but didn't get quite the results I was expecting.
So I ask here in a new Topic.
Is it possible to Drag 'n Drop a picture to for example InDesign, like it is possible in Bridge?
Maybe there is a workaround for that feature? Or will there be a patch for this?
I found it very helpful to just drag the pics in my InDesign-docs.
Would be great to hear some comments.

No, not with a RAW. You are dragging a RAW, try it to the desktop. You only get a copy of the RAW. It may be possible with a TIFF, PSD or JPEG, but you would only get the original, not a developed version. You have to Export in some fashion for any editing in LR to be applied.
IN other words, Yes, if you don't mind not getting what you want in a developed image.

Hi. I was wondering how many computers I can install a purchased version of Photoshop onto (or other Adobe products)? Can I install one copy onto two systems I own, eg: my desktop and laptop? Or only one total? Can I buy additional licenses for that version if needed? What about with older products Eg: Photoshop 4 Extended, or another?

I would like to say that being able to add software onto 2 systems, especially software for productivity and fun, is highly important. This is something Adobe needs to keep doing and a lot of other companies too. Plus it is something some companies need to look into if they can set up the system right. This is one reason I am planning on buying one companies software for music production over the other (which also requires the usb key/lock or company #2's product doesn't work). It is a good selling point for someone like me with a desktop and laptop, cost is a factor with double programs.
