Photoshop Album 1.0: How do I reconnect 350 "edited pictures" showing as disconnected files?

I purchased and downloaded PS Elements 13 64-bit Win7 from the Adobe website to a new Dell Inspirion 64-bit with Win 7 Pro.  I have previously been using a registered copy of Photoshop Album 1.0 and Photoshop Elements 2.0 since 2005.  The most recent use was on a computer running Windows 7 Pro operating system using the virtual XP to run PSE.  That computer was fried by a lightning strike.  However, I retrieved the hard drive in good working order with files intact.  I am currently running the PSE program on an old PC with XP and accessing the picture files (9,600) on the old hard drive attached as an external J: drive.  My goal is to transfer all picture files to the new Dell Inspirion where the new PSE 13 resides.  I couldn’t get the PSE 2.0 program to access the picture files!
I finally figured out how to use MS Access to change the drive reference to J:/.
1) there were a number of line items that seemed to be anomalies in the Access table.  Could these be a cause for the following disconnects?
It seemed that I was about prepared to transition to the new computer and PSE 13, but then after opening PSE 2.0, I found I still had about 350 disconnected files (indicated by a “?” in place of the pic icon).  I then determined that most, if not all of the disconnects, had one thing in common: they were all “edited pictures” and obviously some of my most valued pictures.  I have started to reconnect them one at a time, but it’s very time consuming!
2) Is there a more efficient way to accomplish these reconnections?
If I understand it correctly, the PSE acts like a card catalog in the library where it simply references the actual location of the original and/or edited files.
3) Ultimately, how do I transfer all the reconnected pictures and the associated files and folders to the new computer?
Thanks for any advice or assistance you can offer!

Thanks for your quick response.  I respectfully question with your conclusion that I am in the wrong forum!  Adobe Photoshop Album v 1.0 is the specific program I have used for nine years and that is the program I just reopened to verify it's title and that is the program wherein all the Adobe advice is to reconnect all my files before proceeding to convert to Photoshop Elements 13.  The original box describes it as "The fast and easy way to organize and share your lifetime of photos." My apologies for even mentioning the Photoshop Elements 2.0 (the original box describes it as "image-editing software" which I seldom ever used.  Apparently the functions of PSA & PSE has changed over the many versions, as I first went to the Elements forum and  I can't seem to find anyone in the PSE forum to offer any help.  Is Photoshop forum not the forum that would deal with Photoshop Album? There is a forum I see for Photoshop Album Starter Edition, but a quick review of messages seems to relate to something more recent than my product which is not entitled Starter Edition.  Thanks for any clarification in getting me to the right forum if this is not it!

Verify you are using iPhoto11 ver 9.5

  • How do you create a smart album so that you can look at and edit slide show fashion instead of one at a time?

Sorry but I have no idea what you're asking. What s "look and edit slide show fashion"? Where does a Smart Album fit into that? You know you can move from shot to shot using the arrow keys, right?

  • How to save and later edit slide show projects ?

    Please provide examples

You will have to do some leg-work yourself. You will probably want to use DOM to parse and manipulate your XML data. Xerces (xml.apache.org) is a good open source parser. There are extensive examples on their site.

  • I've lost the majority of the connections between my projects and items in the library (showing up as "missing files"). I've moved nothing. How can I reconnect? The items show up as missing in the library as well as in the "movie".

I am using the version 10.0.9 which might have been an automatic upgrade from my original version.
The majority of my connections between library items has been lost. The items show up as missing files both in the library and when I run my project. How can I re-estabish these connections?

Did you try using the relink function?

  • How can i make the report previewer show a PDF file instead of HTML?

    Hi there,
i made a report which can be called within a form by a button. This report is a PDF-report.
I also have an option in the application to start the report from the menu. Then i get the Launch Report Form by Headstart. Here i can fill in for Desformat (in the options) PDF and Output to PREVIEW. Still it generates me a HTML report in my browser. How can i make it work so that the PREVIEWER will show me a PDF-report instead of the HTML?
    Kind regards,
    Dave

You can not use PREVIEW as output type in webbased forms/reports. Try using as output type CACHE or FILE.

  • HT2506 How can I turn off editing feature for all pdf files?

The editing feature is annoying because when I read pdfs, I select randomly with mouse on the file, which creates "editing behavior". What' s more annoying is it saves to the pdf file directly without asking me, which causes sync services like dropbox to sync the file, generating unnecessary traffic and disk usage.  I never need to edit pdf files. Please give me an option to disable the feature permanently.
See this link for other people getting annoyed:

ok after another hour of playing around i might have half solved this...I turned match off via my account within the store which didn't seem to work properly, but then found another option to "turn off" via the store dropdown in the menu bar which does seem to have worked on my mac (but not yet on my iphone so still need to figure this out). Now I have turned it off on my mac it seems to offer me the option to buy it again - but as i've already paid for the year I don't know if there is the option to turn on again if I choose to later?

  • How do I render my edited project made from .VOB files?

I have DVDs  that were commercially made from my own 8mm family films and I have edited the .VOB files with Adobe Premiere Elements 11. The edited project is on the time line and I have added background music to the silent 8mm films. The entire project is in .VOB files. When I try to render the project, hitting the enter button simply starts the project playing, but Adobe Premiere Elements 11 does not render the project. There is no colored line above the work area. The files are VTS_01_1.VOB.  I can't get Windows Media Player to burn the project to a DVD so I can send copies to my family. How can I burn the project to a DVD that will play for my family in a normal DVD player? Will it be necessary to render the project? If yes, how do I do that? If I purchase Adobe Creative Cloud will it have something that will help me get my project burned to a DVD? Thanks.

When you are ready to burn to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, click on Publish+Share at the top right of the workspace.
After you click on Publish+Share, click on the Disc choice. After you click on Disc category, click on DVD in the burn dialog
which has the header "Disc:: Choose location and settings: Then you set the Burn to: field to Folder (4.7 GB) or Folder (8.5 GB).
Set your save location for the Folder that is going to be produced from Burn to:
In the folder from the saved Folder, take only the VIDEO_TS Folder from that saved folder into the free ImgBurn program
to produce your DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc. Please see
How to burn a DVD Folder with ImgBurn - AfterDawn: Guides
After reading those instructions, if you have any questions about them, please let me know and I will fine tune any areas that
    need fine tuning.
Please let us know if this is the specific information that you were seeking.
I am not clear what you mean by
When I look at the normal choices I don't find any choice that will burn my project to a DVD that will play in a normal DVD player. Can you tell me which of the choices will do that?
This is what I would consider the "normal way"
    1. Burn to: = Disc
Is Premiere Elements 11 showing your DVD burner in the Burner Location: of the burn dialog?
Does the Status: show Ready when you have you DVD disc in the burner tray?
Have you select Presets = whichever corresponds to your source -
    NTSC_Dolby DVD
    or
    NTSC_Widescreen_DVD Dolby
    or
PAL counterparts if you are in a PAL region
In the Quality Area of the burn dialog, is Space Required 4.38 GB or less and Bitrate 8.00 Mbps.
If Yes to all of the above, then hit the Burn button. You should be on your way to producing a DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc
that should be playable on the computer or TV's DVD player.
Looking forward to your follow up.
    ATR
Add On...There is another angle to all this which I will add as a just in case measure...you have DVD-VIDEO files on your Timeline, and I have assumed that you want to burn them to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc. By any chance is your intent to burn them to AVCHD format on DVD disc?

  • How do I OUTPUT an edited picture file from the iPad (latest) to an external USB for easy transfer?

I am a photographer and I use my camera and iPad everyday. Camera takes pictures, connect to iPad, edit pictures with iPad software, output to Internet somwhere (Dropbox, etc..).
However, sometimes I need to hand someone a USB stick with an edited picture on it that came directly from the iPad. I know that I could do it by buying another computer but that would be silly. I do not have another computer.
I need to get the picture file OFF the iPad onto an external storage device (USB stick for instance). Can anyone help?

Currently you can't use the camera connection kit to export pic to a USB thumb drive or an SD card.

  • How can I import and edit Divx/Xvid codec .avi files?

Recently I changed of computer, I had Premiere CS3 in Windows and now I have CS4 in Mac. The problem is that in windows I could edit divx and xvid files, but now, when I try to import any divx/xvid file premiere has an error saying "UNSOPPORTED  COMPRESSION IN FILE".
I have installed divx and xvid codecs on the Mac and I can watch those videos too, but Premiere doesn't accept them.
    Any idea? Thanks

    Mike,
You might want to take a look at the file closely, and then decide if you wish to edit it. Know, that if you go to DVD, or any compressed format/CODEC, after the edit, there will be another quality hit.
There are CODEC's that are basically used to play a file, and then those that play, plus allow editing. DivX and Xvid, are in the former group. There could be some editors that will edit DivX, but I do not know of them. PrPro cannot effectively use the DivX CODEC to edit. Some have gotten very lucky, once the CODEC is installed, but usually one looses either the Video, or the Audio. In the cases, where it worked, OOS issues were almost always present.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How do you make a dreamwever code show where a file is stored if that changes?

OK so if a website is built all offline and so the code shows the files being hosted on your computer and not your hosting account is there any easy way to change it to the hosting account and perserve the site in dreamwever?

Why on earth would you want to have two separate builds of the same site with different links in each?
I have a hard enough time trying to synch six sites on five different computers with three different OS's.

  • Thumbnails in Photoshop Album SE & disconnected files

I need to know what I did wrong to avoid this from happening again AND I'm hoping there's a solution out there for me.
(Please note, I am DESPERATE and am trying to salvage deleted photos.)
Here's what happened: Part I: Turning thumbnails into working images.
    1. I connect a digital camera card reader to my computer to "download" photos using Adobe Photoshop Album SE.
    2. This has always worked fine, and then I modify the pics, which creates a file that has the original file name with the word "edited" in it.
    3. Recently, I went through the same process of connecting my card reader via USB, and "downloading" all my files into Photoshop Album SE.
    4. As per usual, I choose the download & delete setting.
    5. I decided I would edit some of the photos at a later date.
    6. When I reopened Photoshop Album SE last night, all the pictures I THOUGHT I had downloaded said they were "disconnected" showing a file path to the card reader, drive e. I was totally shocked. The files ALWAYS downloaded to c:/documents and settings/[my user name]/my pictures/adobe
    7. So this time I can see all the thumbnails in the "view all" setting of Adobe Photoshop Album SE, but cannot get to any of the pictures. I get the "disconnected" popup.
I suspect I am screwed but I'm hoping someone can help me.
I clearly see all the thumbnails in the "view all". Is there ANY WAY the thumbnail images can be converted to real images? Where are the thumbnails stored that Photoshop can show them and say they need to be reconnected to the source which, in this case, Photoshop DELETED when "downloading"?
Which brings us to Part II: What the hell happened?
You'll notice I keep putting "downloading" in quotes. When I say, "Get all pictures" from my card reader, I thought all my pictures were being copied into the album. That's the way it's always worked previously.
Why didn't it work this last time? Was it a memory issue? Does Photoshop Album SE have a limit on how many photos can be loaded into any one album?
Is that why it "captured" the images but didn't really download them?
Any, and I mean, ANY assistance anyone can give me with this would be greatly appreciated. These particular photos I really, really need and staring at those thumbnails, unable to do anything with them is maddening.
    Thanks,
    Deidre

    Hi Zona,
Do you have "System Restore" set up in Windows? I've actually never used it,
but it appears it MIGHT be a possibility if you did NOT store the images in
My Documents or a subfolder of it.
    See the following:
"System Restore protects your personal files by not restoring any files in
the My Documents folder. It also does not restore any files that use common
data file name extensions, such as .doc or .xls. If you're not sure whether
your personal files use common data file name extensions, and you do not
want the data files to be affected by System Restore, save them in the My
    Documents folder."
There are applications that can take previous "HDD images" (residual
signatures) so that you can possibly recover your images, but you would need
to take this to a special vendor for this. If the images are precious, this
might be your best option. Obviously it will cost some money but I know this
can be done... I just can't advise you on the where's and how's. You would
need to contact vendors in your location.
    Cheers

now I'm trying to open the files in order to make some changes in the photos (cut them and so on), but I cant open them. can open them with the acrobat reader. but not with adobe Photoshop album started 3.0. I am getting a massage saying "the PDF file foes not contain any photos" and it shows the location of the file. the file definitely contains photos. what do I need to do?
    thanks for the help, nilli

Is it Photoshop Starter Edition that is giving your the No Photos message or is it Reader?
If the PDF has photos in it, and you open it with Reader, you should see a toolbar called Picture Tasks. Picture Tasks will let you extract the photos.
