  • Adobe photoshop album 2.0: sending photos to a folder

I previously used adobe photo deluxe but lost it due to virus. The disc is no longer available to reinstall so I am trying out photoshop album 2.0 to replace. I have windows me.
I normally ftp photos from a folder to my remote site for Ebay.
My question is does this program allow me to save file size photos in a folder so they may be ftp'd.
    Thanks,
    Irving

I was having the same problem on three computers. I have Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition 1.0 which I love. I have used it for years with Windows 98 and recently on a newer laptop running XP. I bought another desktop with XP Professional and upgraded the old one running 98 to XP-Home Edition. For a short while all seemed to work okay. Then suddenly when I tried to save a photo as a J-Peg file, it would sit for 2-3 minutes with the dreaded hourglass cursor. Finally, the message would come up that the photo browser may not be installed correctly. I too re-installed with no luck several times.
Then I discovered that my problem seemed to be the desktop shortcut! When I tried to open the properties for the shortcut, a box came up saying the the path was not correct/ file could not be found, even though normal clicking on the shortcut would start up the Photo Deluxe program. I deleted the shortcut on the desktop and found another application file for Photo Deluxe in a different location that works perfectly. I don't know what the techno-geek explanation is, but it seems that in Windows XP, the pathway for the desk-top shortcut, which is created during installation, is wrong and does not point to the correct target application file location, so the program does not open properly.
Try this: It worked on all 3 of my XP computers!
    Click/Open - WINDOWS EXPLORER,
    Click/Open - MY COMPUTER,
Click/Open - YOUR HARD-DRIVE DISK (On my PC it is "C",)
    Click/Open - PROGRAM FILES,
    Click/Open - PhotoDeluxe BE1.0 (*OR Your Edition,)
On the right side panel, look for the application file. It is best to view details, to see which file says APPLICATION. In PhotoDeluxe BE 1.0, it is a file titled PBE.
Right/Click on this application file to open the menu box.
Select/Click - SEND TO -&- DESKTOP (create shortcut.)
This will create a desktop icon/shortcut with the correct pathway to the program in Windows-XP. When you click this shortcut to open PhotoDeluxe, the program should work correctly and the gallery, hold photo and save to J-Peg file commands should function as normal.
HOPE THIS HELPS! I was going crazy trying to get it working. I use it to edit photos for eBay listings and was desperate to solve the problem. It was taking hours to prepare and save my photos with the long delay trying to save an edited photo to a folder for upload!
All three of my PC's have PhotoDeluxe working perfect once again!!!

  • Converting from Adobe Photoshop Album

I am considering jumping to the MAC platform for my home computers. I think I have all the wireless device and application issues resolved, but one hurdle remains...
I have over 5000 photos edited, annotated, and organized in Adobe Photoshop Album. Is anyone aware of a conversion process to IPhoto 5?
This one issue could keep me on the PC platform...

Thank you for the suggestion, I have tried converting the catalog from the psa file as well as restoring from the psb (backup) file and neither one is working on my new computer.  It partially converts the catalog from Photoshop Album (PSA) 2 but then all the file links are broken in Photoshop Elements (PSE) 9.  I have about 10,000 photos in this catalog, so it is a lot of files.  I still have my old computer so I tried installing PSE 9 on it and then it converted the PSA catalog fine, so I backup up the PSE 9 catalog on my old computer and tried doing a restore from this backup on my new computer and same thing, only some of the files come through.

  • Automatic launch of Adobe Photoshop Album Starter

When I put a jump drive into my USB port Adobe Photo Shop Album Starter Edition 3.2  launches.  It won't go away. I can't see what is on my jump drive.  I can only see pictures.
It's got to be something on my computer because the jump drives I've tried work perfectly on other computers.  I tried a blank drive and it did the same thing.  This has started recently.
    Can anyone help?

From a little digging, I found a thread where I see this was an issue till 3.2 update was launched. Please follow these steps to resolve the issue-
You can kill the automatic downloader [and obtain pictures manually] thus:
In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.0\Apps and reaname the file apdproxy.exe to something else [like "apdproxy-save.exe"].
    Then reboot.
For more info, please see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/361564.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

So I don't have this code and I need to access to the photos. Please, somebody can help me?. Thank you.

Thank you for your help, Gunjan, but I have already tried to contact adobe tech support and I cannot get a code still now. I just find fixed issues where there is not shown my problem and I cannot find the way to write my question about my need of a code for Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2. • Thumbnails in Photoshop Album SE & disconnected files

I need to know what I did wrong to avoid this from happening again AND I'm hoping there's a solution out there for me.
(Please note, I am DESPERATE and am trying to salvage deleted photos.)
Here's what happened: Part I: Turning thumbnails into working images.
    1. I connect a digital camera card reader to my computer to "download" photos using Adobe Photoshop Album SE.
    2. This has always worked fine, and then I modify the pics, which creates a file that has the original file name with the word "edited" in it.
    3. Recently, I went through the same process of connecting my card reader via USB, and "downloading" all my files into Photoshop Album SE.
    4. As per usual, I choose the download & delete setting.
    5. I decided I would edit some of the photos at a later date.
    6. When I reopened Photoshop Album SE last night, all the pictures I THOUGHT I had downloaded said they were "disconnected" showing a file path to the card reader, drive e. I was totally shocked. The files ALWAYS downloaded to c:/documents and settings/[my user name]/my pictures/adobe
    7. So this time I can see all the thumbnails in the "view all" setting of Adobe Photoshop Album SE, but cannot get to any of the pictures. I get the "disconnected" popup.
I suspect I am screwed but I'm hoping someone can help me.
I clearly see all the thumbnails in the "view all". Is there ANY WAY the thumbnail images can be converted to real images? Where are the thumbnails stored that Photoshop can show them and say they need to be reconnected to the source which, in this case, Photoshop DELETED when "downloading"?
Which brings us to Part II: What the hell happened?
You'll notice I keep putting "downloading" in quotes. When I say, "Get all pictures" from my card reader, I thought all my pictures were being copied into the album. That's the way it's always worked previously.
Why didn't it work this last time? Was it a memory issue? Does Photoshop Album SE have a limit on how many photos can be loaded into any one album?
Is that why it "captured" the images but didn't really download them?
Any, and I mean, ANY assistance anyone can give me with this would be greatly appreciated. These particular photos I really, really need and staring at those thumbnails, unable to do anything with them is maddening.
    Thanks,
    Deidre

    Hi Zona,
Do you have "System Restore" set up in Windows? I've actually never used it,
but it appears it MIGHT be a possibility if you did NOT store the images in
My Documents or a subfolder of it.
    See the following:
"System Restore protects your personal files by not restoring any files in
the My Documents folder. It also does not restore any files that use common
data file name extensions, such as .doc or .xls. If you're not sure whether
your personal files use common data file name extensions, and you do not
want the data files to be affected by System Restore, save them in the My
    Documents folder."
There are applications that can take previous "HDD images" (residual
signatures) so that you can possibly recover your images, but you would need
to take this to a special vendor for this. If the images are precious, this
might be your best option. Obviously it will cost some money but I know this
can be done... I just can't advise you on the where's and how's. You would
need to contact vendors in your location.
    Cheers

  • Ability to use Adobe Photoshop Album tags in CS3 Bridge

I currently have 15,250 photos and 155 tags entered in Adobe Photoshop album. I would like the ability to convert, import or somehow use these tags in CS3 Bridge without reentering everything. PLEASE!

I request the answer to the same question.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0, migrate to iPhoto?

After 20 years owning PCs, I bought my first Mac. I have about 13,000 photos cataloged in Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to preserve my organization in iPhoto (or even if it's possible).
Photoshop Album uses an external database that permits hierarchies, like Places - MD_MontgomeryCo - Rockville eg. I probably have 30 or 40 counties, some with as many as 100 locations.
I don't think keywords are quite the same, although organizing by album might help. I've downloaded Keyword Assistant from a Mr. Ferry iirc, and that makes keywords much more manageable. But I can't imagine tagging to create anything like my hierarchy of places.
    Any thoughts or experience?
Oh, and how do you change the headings that seem to be automagically applied to each new batch of imported files?
    best, Jon Angel

I have exactly the same problem - except I haven't got my new MacBook yet
I have been doing some research, though, and the chances of getting the tagging out of PSA 2.0 seem very small ...
However, I have found three theoretical possibilities.
    1) I have tried the first steps of this 'solution' without any success, but I will mention it anyway, perhaps you are more lucky: There is a PC based photo cataloging application called IMatch (http://www.photools.com/). For this application someone has created a set of scripts, the first of which is capable of extracting the PSA 2.0 catalog into a plain text file (http://www.impulseadventure.com/photo/flow-catalog-imatch.html). I have been unable to make this work, but if you succeed, a second script (mentioned on the above website) should be able to import the tags into IMatch. As I understand, IMatch is capable of embedding the tags as IPTC keywords in the image files. I guess you could use a free trial version of IMatch for this operation, and if you should get this far, it should be possible to import the IPTC keywords info into iPhoto with this script (http://scriptbuilders.net/files/iphotoiptckeywordimportexportutilities1.0.1.html). Well, this was all theory, but maybe it could be useful ...
    2) A second possibility is, that PSA 2.0 stores its caption in the EXIF Description field. Assuming you don't use the caption in PSA 2.0, you could go through your catalog one tag after another and write each tag into the captions of all the images, it is attached to. If it's possible to search in the EXIF Description feld in iPhoto, you could reverse the process when you have imported the images into iPhoto.
    3) Newer versions of PSA (called Photoshop Elements) exist for the Mac. I guess they must be able to import from older versions of PSA, but I don't know.
I don't know if this is of any use, but I just wanted to share my own thougts of this process.

  • Can I use my Photoshop CC on multiple computers?

Can I use my Photoshop CC on multiple computers?  How do I set it up on the second computer?  I have a desktop that I use primarily but also have a laptop that I need to use on occasion.   How do I set this up properly?
    Thanks for the help

Just download and install it on both computers.

  • How do I get my videos to all work correctly in Photoshop Album Starter Edition Ver. 3.0?

I have been using version 3.0 for the last 3 years and had no problems with any of my videos playing once they were downloaded from my mobile phone or camera to version 3.0 until August 2007 but now a lot of them say 'The selected file cannot be played'.  All the files that don't work are '.AVI' files and the only thing I can see they have in common is that in the file name it says -1x-1 next to the file size and length of the clip, whereas the working files have full numbers i.e. 640*480.  I still have a couple of files downloaded after August 2007 that do play but not many.  Is there any way I can change the settings or recover these files so they will actually play?

It seems to me that these problematic files may not be .avi files, or are corrupted; it doesn't seem likley that it's a setting in Photoshop Album Starter Edition.
Do any of those files play in Windows Media player? Another possibility could be that these files are sidecar files to your video files; are there similarly-named video files that work fine? If so, then I would suspect that these .avi files are, again, not .avi files, and could be simply text info that goes along with  your .avi files, and could be ignored (removed from the catalog).

  • Can't open a PDF file with acrobat photoshop album starter 3.0

scanned pictures and saved them as a PDF file in another computer. I think the version was 6 (but not sure). I downloaded acrobat reader (version + acrobat Photoshop to my computer.
now I'm trying to open the files in order to make some changes in the photos (cut them and so on), but I cant open them. can open them with the acrobat reader. but not with adobe Photoshop album started 3.0. I am getting a massage saying "the PDF file foes not contain any photos" and it shows the location of the file. the file definitely contains photos. what do I need to do?
    thanks for the help, nilli

Is it Photoshop Starter Edition that is giving your the No Photos message or is it Reader?
If the PDF has photos in it, and you open it with Reader, you should see a toolbar called Picture Tasks. Picture Tasks will let you extract the photos.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer catalog conversion

I'm having trouble converting Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 catalog to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer.  I get a Conversion Failed error which tells me to repair with the program that created it.  I have tried several things including deleting all .avi files from the catalog, deleting references to missing files and backing up then trying to convert from an external HD.  I'm running Vista Home Premium on a HP laptop.  The Organizer optimize and repair don't seem to help in this case.
Does anyone have any history with this or advice?

Please refer to following KB article which deals with catalog conversion failures:-

  • Convert Photoshop Album to PSE8

I have been using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 to organise my photos and recently bought PSE8.  To transfer all my photos into PSE8 Organiser I think I should use the Convert option.  (File > Catalog > Convert)
When I do and select Album as the place to convert from it displays the message:  "The conversion operation failed.  Try repairing the catalog with the software that created it and retry conversion".  Album doesn't have a repair option, only a "Reconnect Missing Files", which says "No files to reconnect".
Can anyone tell me how to get my photos (2k+) into my PSE8 catalog with associated tags etc?  I am in UK and have a very slow broadband service so I dont think sharing using Photoshop.com is possible / viable.
Any / all suggestions gratefully received.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album v.2 - Can I restore from thumbnails only?

I am a complete IT donut.  I do not know the terminology and I'm not even sure I am on the right thread!!!!!.  But here goes if anyone thinks they can help.
I have Adobe Photoshop Album v2.0 that I have been keeping photographs on.  Someone who shall remain nameless deleted a file which has meant that some of the older photos have lost what can only be described as the 'back up' to the photo - if that makes sense.  We can see it as a thumnail (with a small legend depicting that it is "broken") but when we double click on it the computer browses for a file that it cannot find - obviously.
Is it possible to restore the photo using just the information that the computer has kept in order to generate the thumbnail?  There is no way we can restore the information that was lost as its years ago, but just wondered if anyone knew of a way to do this.
I know this is probably a lost cause, but thanks for your time anyway.

All that is stored in the Photoshop Album catalog file is a small thumbnail, which is better than nothing,I suppose. But we don't have any tools that would allow you to harvest even the thumbnails out of the catalog file. The catalog file is an MS Access database; if you could find a tool to crack open and rip out the resources, then you would have what you want, but I wouldn't be able to tell you step 1 on how to do that; just that it should be theoretically possible.
    Good Luck!
