Photoshop Album error.

Photoshop Album 1.0.50 now returns the following error:" Directx is installed , but could not be initialized". I have re-downloaded Visual Basic 6 but did not help. I have used Album for many years with great results. Any suggestions on possible cause? Help is appreciated.

What operating system are you on? Did you look for the Direct X installer (rather than visual basic)?

Tried dowbloading app again... didn't help.
    HELP!  Thanks

I have a similar problem with my new iphone 4, but I never had the problem with my previous iphone 3g.
Your post seems promising. However, you say ''right click on the APD icon in the system tray (it must be resembling a small camera) and select disable''. Unfortunatlely I don't know where to find '' the system tray''. Control Panel has a system folder but I can't find any access to an icon resembling a camera. Also, I am used to using Adobe Photoshop downloader. Since it worked with my previous iphone, can't it be made to work with the iphone 4?

I cannot open Photoshop Album Starter 3.0, unable to access pictures and download any pictures. Is there a fix for this? I get error code c0000005 & address 4001b2f.

Hi Donna,<br /><br />I would suggest you to delete perferences and try again. Preferences are located in <br />C:\Documents and Settings\<Logon name>\Application data\Photoshop Album\3.0<br /><br />Delete files present over there. Please note that Application data is a hidden folders so you need to make "Show hidden files and folders" under explorer -> Tools --> Folder options -> View.<br /><br />I am using Photoshop Album Starter Edition on Windows XP + SP2 and it is working fine. Which OS and service pack are you using?

  • Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 error c0000005

When I try to get pictures from my iphone via Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2, it has to close with error C0000005.
I'm disappointed that I have to use 3rd party software to get photos on and off my iphone. I thought Apple made products that were easy to use. Just seems like the same crap from a different manufacturer (can you tell I'm frustrated?). Not to mention all the limitations with the iphone if you actually want to use it for business ....

You don't need to use 3rd party software - iPhoto will do it automatically once you set it up.
Connected your iPhone to your computer. iTunes then opens up. Select your iPhone under Devices, in the left column. Then click the Photos tab in the main window. Check the box that says, "Sync photos from:" Then, iPhoto will open every time you sync. You'll have the option to import the Photos from your phone and you'll be able to chose if the original stays on your phone or is deleted.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer catalog conversion

I'm having trouble converting Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 catalog to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer.  I get a Conversion Failed error which tells me to repair with the program that created it.  I have tried several things including deleting all .avi files from the catalog, deleting references to missing files and backing up then trying to convert from an external HD.  I'm running Vista Home Premium on a HP laptop.  The Organizer optimize and repair don't seem to help in this case.
Does anyone have any history with this or advice?

Please refer to following KB article which deals with catalog conversion failures:-

  • Photoshop Album Starter edition 3.2 abnormal program termination

I have just logged onto version 3.0 and I was offered an upgrade to 3.2 via the message centre. I followed all instructions and downloaded the files.
When I now go to open the Album an error message comes up headed:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library.
In the window centre the message reads:
    Program: ... Starter Edition\3.2\Apps\Photoshop Album Starter Edition.exe
    abnormal program termination
(Press retry to debug the application)
When I press retry the program simply shuts down.
    Any thoughts?

    Ian,
Try uninstalling and reinstalling it. Something obviously went wrong
    with the upgrade.

  • Convert photoshop album SE 3.2 to Photoshop elements

    It seems simple enough.
I have photoshop album SE 3.2 and it is working well with 8400 photos all tagged is various groups.  I downloaded Photoshop elements 8 and installed it(succesfully). I then tried to convert the database over.  It does 2% then comes up with:
"The conversion operation failed.  Try repairing the catalog with the software that created it and retry conversion"
I have checked every photo, hit the "reconnect all missing files" option under the file tab.  held the cntl key upon startup, used the oprimize and repair tabs in photoshop elements and nothing shows any errors but it still will not convert.
Is there something obvious I am missing ?
I have about 20 days left on my trial and I want to make sure it works before I buy it.
    Thanking you in advance.

Thanks.  I can see a couple of messages that look like errors but do not know how to handle them.

  • PhotoShop Album SE 3.0

    Hi,
I have had to uninstall this product for two reasons. If anyone can sort them out I would be grateful.
    1. It does not work correctly with multiple users in XP Home Edition - i.e. catalogues are built from other users folders, even after each users preferences have been set, and then:
    2. it finally refused to open any catalog or any other folder with the message
"The ODBC data source retuned the following error
    (internal error: data not found)
This problem was created by PS Album SE 3.0 as it was possible to do that, albeit with the wrong user folder's etc for a couple of hours before it screwed up.
Pity, as I thouhght it might be useful.
    Bobby.

I think Photoshop Album SE 3.0 supports only one catalog. It is the same catalog for every user. <br /><br />Please remove the preference file psa.prf from "C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Album\3.0" for every user and then reinstall Photoshop Album SE 3.0. <br /><br />Hope this helps.

  • PSE 8 - Coverting My Catalog from Photoshop Album 2.0

My free download PSE 8 begings the conversion of My Catalog (Photoshop Album 2.0) when only 6% of the way into the process it stops giving an error message; "Failed. Try repairing the catalog with the software that created it". Frankly I am not sure where to begin.
My entire catalog, only one by the way, was created with the Photoshop Album 2.0 application. In an attempt to identify what was in need of repair using the slideshow View over all of the photos in my catalog I did identify where some images' were not linked to the actual photo. Any such disconnect I have rectified and am able to view the entire slideshow without interruption suggesting that there is nothing to repair?
Our use of Photoshop Album 2.0 has been unsophisticated. We download our photos from camera/s mainly using the Photoshop application which automatically stores them in the Adobe sub-folder under My Pictures. We then move these into appropriately named separate folders and mapping them onto similarly named Collections within My Catalog. Here we edit and delete where necessary and also caption. Once that exercise is complete, to reduce storage, we go back to My Pictures and remove any duplication resulting from the editing process. As a final test we take a slideshow View of each collection to insure that there are no disconnect.
What can I try next? Is there any diagnostic tool within Elements 8 which can assist in identifying where we need to start with the repair job?

    Hi John
Despite successfully running Reconnect and Repair, PSE 8 is still unable to
convert My Catalog from Photoshop Album 2.0. The 'Problems converting
catalogs to PSE 6 or 7' notes suggests that I might need to first migrate to
Elements 5. Can I take you up on the offer find me a copy?
Actually John I may be making life unnecessarily difficult for myself. I
would like to upgrade my Adobe Photoshop software but have some thousands of
photos with captions. Is there a more simple way to migrate photos, edited
photos all with captions into PSE 8?
    Regards
    Neil

  • Iphone will not sync pics to Adobe Photoshop Album 3.0

When i connect my Iphone to my PC, Photoshop album detects it as a digital camera and opens up. It even brings up thumbnails of all the pictures on my Iphone. But when i click on "GET PHOTOS" to download the pictures to my computer, the process starts out and then i get an error message saying - Connection to the Iphone was lost or it may be charging.."
Only the last picture taken from my Iphone is transfered to my computer. How do i resolve this? Already tried connecting to a different USB port and reseting the phone/PC but did not help.

    Manish,
Do you use the passcode lock on your iPhone? That could be preventing Photoshop Album from downloading pictures. For more information about this issue, please take a look at this article:

    Hope this helps,

  • Converting Catalogs From Photoshop Album (2.0) to Photoshop Elements 13

My Photoshop Album currently holds some 23,000 photographs/jpgs from 2003 to date. Each is catalogued to provide a very high level of granularity to assist in identifying specific photographs and their subject content.
I have purchased Photoshop Elements to update the management of the collection. The Adobe information identifies it to be a suitable successor but indicates that there is likely to be some effort required to update the catalog. Using Catalog Manager I have attempted to Convert the old catalog which didn’t work because it “couldn’t be seen” in Elements. Further research of the Forum and other Adobe resources pointed to the Catalog Conversion Utility. Again this also failed to work.
I then reduced the number of photographs to about 4,500 (year 2014). I have noted by the way that this has had virtually no effect on the psa file size. As I gradually Deleted photos from the Catalog I have come across about 100 items which cannot be deleted and returns the following error message….
The ODBC data source reported the following error:
“[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Indicator variable required but not supplied on column number 10 (fDateTimeHigh)”
I have tried a number of ways to delete the photos including removing them from their folder; “Reconnecting the Missing File” with/without the same name in a different Folder; and generally getting myself very frustrated with my lack of knowledge. Googling/search for help and pointers hasn’t found the solution.
What or where can I find a way of deleting these errant files? (I have MS Access if this is a tool that might get me the solution.)
Note that one very old and small Catalog did convert and successfully integrated into Elements so it all works in principle. It seems to point to these problem jpgs.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes. Thanks for your reply. Just shows my age doesn't it! I've really got to upgrade my system from Windows 3.1.
Still it lasted me for quite a few years over its various issues and wasn't a bad investment for me considering I think it was a magazine cover freebie, though I can't remember whether it was issued on 5" or 3" disks!!!
Interesting to note that conceptually the original design was quite good and together with the new face recognition technology which is as good if not better than Picasa the PSE13 Organiser does a good job. It's a pity Adobe doesn't promote more of this side of the product. I wasn't able to find the replacement to Album as it was starting to struggle as the photo count increased and I hadn't been able to find an obvious replacement. Still that's over now.
All I have to do now is to raise a query as to how to order/sort certain tags and it's a near perfect product for me. Can't find the answer in the Manual(s) or FAQs - or I'm not using the correct query key words.

  • Moving from Photoshop Album 2.0 to 3.0 Starter Edition

I have Photoshop Album 2.0 set up on one computer. I downloaded Photoshop Album 3.0 Starter Edition on a second computer. I transferred over the photos and catalog making sure to keep the same paths.
Maybe I missed it but when I started up 3.0 there was no obvious way to open a catalog. I tried to overwrite the default 3.0 catalog with my catalog but all that came up were a few error dialog boxes.
So, can anyone provide step-by-step instructions for moving my 2.0 catalog over to 3.0 Starter Edition?
    Thanks for the help.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
It appears the My Catalog.PSA is stored at:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.0\Shared_Assets\database\odbc
There are also some other files in that directory:
    My Catalog.DataSourceName
    My Catalog-pju.DataSourceName
    My Catalog-pju.psa
I copied my 2.0 catalog over and fired up the 3.0 program but only got errors. It was unable to do the conversion.
My plan was to create a catalog of pictures for my friends based on my 2.0 catalog and send them a disc with the photos, catalog and PSA 3.0 SE. They have no need for the full-blown 2.0 program so this seemed like a good, free way for them to benefit from the categorization work I've done.

  • Convert Catalog from Adobe Photoshop Album to Photoshop Elements 13

    Hello Community!
I've searched for this question in Google, but I didn't find an answer that helped me.
The old computer from my client with Windows XP OS is getting replaced by a new one with Windows 7.
There was Adobe Photoshop Album on the old one which isn't supported anymore. My client had over 15'000 pictures on his old PC which I've already copied on the new computer. Now he wants his albums, tags and these things from Adobe Photoshop Album back, so I decided to install Photoshop Elements 13 because of the Elements Organizer tool.
Now I've seen answers in forums that sayed that all these informations are saved in the "My Albums.psa" Catalog file, which I've already found on the old computer and copied on the new one. Some people sayed it would work with the "convert" option in PSE, but this doesn't work for me, because PSE doesn't see the .psa file. So I tried to convert my .psa file with this Tool, but in the middle of the progress it says that it failed and that I should try to repair the file in PSE. I'm now stuck here, with several different solutions, and yet I don't know what to do now.
I've read something about the folder structure and that the pictures and folders have to be on the harddisk when trying to convert the .psa file. All pictures are on the new computer, but of course the folders aren't the same on the new OS.
It would be glad if I find a solution as soon as possible from someone in the community.
Thanks and have a nice day!

Finally I could solve the problem.
I tried to import the Backup.tly in Photoshop Elements, but without success. Even there an Error appeared. The conversion tool also still got this failure at a progress of 15% conversion... So I searched a reason for the failure in google and found this helpful article from Adobe. It says that you should look for the corrupt images in the log file. So did I, and I found the error causing picture on the old computer and deleted it. After that I opened Photoshop Album, clicked on "File > Reconnect all missing files" and deleted this picture from the catalog.
Now I didn't want to make the backup again, because the last nearly had 1h. So I decided to try it again by just copying the catalog.psa from the old computer to the new one and to convert it again with the conversion tool. The error came again, but at a progress of 22% So i had to do this a few times: Searching the corrupt image in the log file, deleting it on the old computer, deleting the missing file in Photoshop Album and converting it. And finally, it worked, no error after conversion! I let photoshop elements 13 open the new .pse13 file. Now, all tags and albums were back on Photoshop Elements. Eventually, I let the programm searching the new paths of all the images. It takes a time but it works great now. Thanks for your help, I would recommend the Adobe Community & support!
