PhotoShop Album Starter Ed. Interferes with Flash Drives

I have installed the Adobe PhotoShop Album Starter Edition 3 on a new computer and can no longer use my flash drives for data. The drives no longer appear in Windows Explorer and there is nothing that I can find in the program prefs that will let me turn off the auto launch and import routine that starts every time I insert a flash drive. I have not had this problem on the old computer running the same version of the software and the operating system. I have had to remove the program so that I can regain the use of my flash drives for handling data. Does anyone know the secret to being able to use both PhotoShop album Starter Edition AND flash drives for data? I am running WinXP SP2.
Thanks for the help,
Tom Davis

I observed same problem on my machine many times. I have noticed that we remove flash drive/card reader without using "Safely Remove Hardware" of windows then sometimes windows explorer is not able recognize the card reader/flash drive.
For this, I would suggest you to click on device hardware icon in the system tray and select "Safely Remove Hardware" and then click [Stop] in the next window. Then windows will tell you if device is busy or safe to remove.
Using this , I am no longer observing problem of card reader not being recognized. Hope this helps!

Is it Photoshop Starter Edition that is giving your the No Photos message or is it Reader?
If the PDF has photos in it, and you open it with Reader, you should see a toolbar called Picture Tasks. Picture Tasks will let you extract the photos.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 with AOL desktop (AOL 10)

I have fully patched XP SP2
AOL 10 as default email client
Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2, registered and unlocked.
When setting pref for email client within Adobe PSE, AOL is not listed as an email option. I have reinstalled Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2, and unlocked, reinstalled AOL 10 (desktop) and reset it as the default email client. The default is working, as mailto: links in browsers open up AOL Desktop, and the email app listed at the top of the <START> button is AOL. How can I set it as an email client in Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2? Is there some registry hack? Interference with another app?

Is there anything I can do? - if I search the Browse button I get absolutely no connection or a march. This is most frustrating. • Storing Notes with Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3

I am new to Photoshop Album Starter Edition and was working with it yesterday to catalog some old family photos that I had scanned. When I was cataloging the photos, I added a caption and notes for each photo under the properties tab. When I burned the photo files to a CD and loaded the CD to another computer using Photoshop Starter Edition 3, I able to see the caption under properties but there was nothing in the Notes field. I'd like to use the notes field to store comments about the photo and then be able to burn the CD to share with other family members. Is there a way to burn the photos to a CD and be able to see the Notes information?

Using PSA 3.0 does this also mean that if I move an image to a new directory it loses the notes information and similarly should I rename the file will it will also lose the notes detail but not the caption. I understand why this is, if it is so - ah but here comes the question, "Is there any way to print out the notes detail by images etc to a file or to the printer should the need arise to reuse the information. Say I scan images to a laptop and record "notes information" using PSA 3.0 - how do I get that "notes" information to my desktop should I transfer the photos & use PSA 3.0 there - any help or advice would be most appreciated - are there other Adobe products that address this

  • Printing problems with Photoshop Album Starter Ed. 3.2 (Viewer)

Everytime I try to print a picture associated with Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 (Viewer) I get an error message saying it has "encountered a problem and needs to close."  I will post the additional information it gives below.  Can anyone please help!!  Thank you very much!  SCH
    Error Signature:
    AppName: componentlauncher.exe      AppVer: 3.2.0.12228      ModName: print.dll
Technical Information about the error report:  ......I can't get this information to copy and paste
    ModVer: 3.2.0.12228      Offset: 0001321d

I would normally say reinstall, but since the program has been discontinued, and if you don't have your registration serial number, then the program will not unlock after 30 uses.
You could simply NOT print from the viewer, and print from within the program.
Or, you could have another program take over as the default viewer for jpeg files, and utilize another viewer (like Windows Picture and Fax viewer); instructions for changing here: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-xp/change-windows-default-picture-viewer/

  • Will Photoshop Album Starter Edition support taskbar with "auto-hide" on?

I am using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 on my Windows 2000 computer, and I have a problem with my taskbar not popping up. I have the "auto-hide" selection on for the taskbar, so it stays out of my way when I am working in applications. However, I have to hit the "windows" key if I want to switch from Photoshop to another app.
I looked through the support site and found the article that Album 2.0.1 fixes this bug for Windows XP. However, the problem still exists with Album 3.0 and Windows 2000. Will this bug get a fix soon?

You may already be aware of this but you can shift to another open application by pressing the Alt key and the tab key together. While Holding down the Alt Key, press the tab key. You will see a small window with the application name in it. When you press tab repeatedly, the application name will keep on changing in the window. When you let go of the keys, the application whose name is in the window will be activated.

It is a common misconception that Starter Edition 'stores', or copies, your files into it. But the program does not move or copy files at all, rather it scans your system's My Pictures directory, and generates miniature versions of your pictures (called thumbnails) so that you can browse a 'flat' list of thumbnails of your photos, overcoming the inconvenience of having to go into separate folders in Windows Explorer to have to find files. The thumbnails, as well as any tags, and Albums that you create in Starter Edition are all stored in the Photoshop Album catalog file, separate from your pictures, and your pictures remain where you originally copied them to your computer.
If you use Photoshop Album to subsequently download files from a digital camera or scanner, the default location where the program will create those files would be in the My Pictures>Digital Camera Photos folder. But if you do NOT use Photoshop Album Starter edition to download files from your camera, then you will find that folder empty.
The thumbnails in the Starter Edition catalog will exist, even if you decide to move or delete the original photos that were added to the program. This will cause files in the Photoshop Album catalog to become 'disconnected' from the original photos. To reconnect the files, you can use the File>Reconnect Missing files command to see if the program can locate the original files in a new location, and once again re-link the catalog thumbnails to the files they once referenced.
Since Photoshop Album has been discontinued, I recommend that folks find an alternative solution. One alternative that will preserve most of what you've created in Starter Edition is the Photoshop Elements 8 trial. Install that, and it will automatically convert the Photoshop Album catalog to a current format, and the program will not time out, as Starter Edition did. If you want to purchase more Editing power, you can also choose to purchase the full program, but it's not required.
If you are like many who have come to this forum wondering how you can get to your photos, now that the program has become locked or expired, don't worry; your photos have never been moved by Photoshop Album; they remain wherever you intially put them, on your hard drive. To get to them, you can navigate your file system using Windows Explorer. They are typically in your My Documents>My Pictures folder. Here is a handy How-To that you could refer to to find photos on your system, as well as some other tips for how you can use folders to keep your photos organized: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/maintain/filemgmt.mspx
    Hope those tips help!

  • Adobe photoshop album starter 3.0 pictures

I am downloading a bunch of pictures off of numerous cards. When I put in one of the cards all the pictures I wanted to download popped into my Adobe Photoshop Album Starter 3.0 program. I minimized it and opened up snapfish.com and opened up some different pictures. Then disaster ... I deleted the entire card without getting my 200 pictures off of the card...HOWEVER, when I pulled up the minimized Adobe Photoshop Album starter, I see the pictures are on there. I'm at the point where it basically says I need to click "get photos". Is there a chance that my wedding photos are still on my hard drive somewhere. I am SOOOO NOT a technical person. Please HELP! Thanks in advance!

    Hi Lucille,
Let's go slow and breathe... :)
First, you say that you can see the images in PSA. This is a good sign.
It likely means that the images were successfully transferred.
What I would like you to do is right click on one of the images you are
concerned about and click on very bottom where is says "Show Properties".
Now, this will bring up a little window. Look at the bottom and see if
it shows you little folder and a "pathway" something like c:\...\My
    Pictures\...
If you see something like that, press the folder icon itself and look in
this area for the file that you think you have lost.
    Let's start with that.
    Cheers

  • Convert catalog from Adobe Photoshop Album starter edition 3.0 to 3.2

    Hello
I am using Adobe Photoshop Album starter edition 3.0 for years.
1.- I have upgraded to 3.2 now, but I don't know how to convert the catalog from the old version to the new version. Where is this documented?
2.- By default Adobe installs the catalog file on c:\documents and settings\all users\... - I have now installed adobe on another drive, D. But still the catalog is by default saved under c:\documents and settings\all users\... I need to have it on another location. How can I change the catalog file location?
    Thank you.

  • Need help regarding Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0

Thanks in advance for helping me.
When I got a new camera about 4 years ago, it came with this software. I loaded it up, but never used it. I normally just create a new folder on my desktop and click and drag the shots from the computer to the desktop. I do this by just opening up my computer, find the external drive and then click and drag.
Here is the problem though. My wife decided to download photos from my daughters b-day party. When she plugged in the card reader, this photo album starter automatically opened and started to drag the photos into the program.
Although this shouldn't be a problem it is a large issue. Since I never used the product, I never registered for it either. So when I just tried to register for it, it told me the program is no longer able to be registered for. And when I hit the register later button, it shuts down the program. Therefore, it will not allow me to grab the photos and save them to a file on my desktop.
Can anyone tell me a way around this, please?
    Stu

You need to ask in the Photoshop Album Starter Edition forum.

  • Get photos from Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2

We have some images stored in Photoshop Album Starter edition 3.2. When we now try to open the photos, we are told to register us for an unlocking code, which we never get. I have also tried to call Adobe support, but they could not help us with this because this program does not longer exists. And then support told us to go to this forum for further assistance. Anyone here who know how we can get access to our photos again?

If you are on a Mac, try using File Juicer:
It will extract any and all images from any type of file.
    http://echoone.com/filejuicer/
    With File Juicer you can:
Extract images from a PowerPoint slide show or presentation.
Extract images and text from PDF files.
Recover images and video from erased flash cards
    Recover text from damaged files
Extract the images and HTML files in Safari's cache.
    Extract attachments from email archives.
Rebuild simple PDF files into Word documents
Convert iPhoto's iPod cache files and ithmb files to TIFF.
Recover photos from your iPod if you have lost your Mac.
Extract Flash animations saved in .EXE files.
Convert ZIP files which have been saved as .EXE files to zip.
Extract the JPEG pictures from Canon & Nikon RAW files.
    Extract System 7 Sounds
Use it for forensics examining cache files of various kinds
Invisibly attach files to images - simple steganography
File Juicer doesn't care what type file you drop onto it; it searches the entire file byte by byte. If it finds a JPEG, JP2, PNG, GIF, PDF, BMP, WMF, EMF, PICT, TIFF, Flash, Zip, HTML, WAV, MP3, AVI, MOV, MPG, WMV, MP4, AU, AIFF or text file inside, it can save it to your desktop or to another folder you choose.

    Lecluse,
Here is a more thorough response to your question.
Photoshop Album has been discontinued for several years now, I recommend that folks find an alternative solution; you could try Picasa from Google, or the Windows built in photo gallery app; both essentially do what Starter Edition did, with respect to organizing photos for you.
You photos remain wherever you intially put them, on your hard drive (see more thorough description below). To get to them, you can navigate your file system using Windows Explorer. They are typically in your My Documents>My Pictures folder. Google 'how to find photos on Windows XP' for helpful links on locating files in your file system.
Some background about how Starter Edition worked:
It is a common misconception that Starter Edition 'stores', or copies, your files into it. But the program does not move or copy files at all, rather it scans your system's My Pictures directory, and generates miniature versions of your pictures (called thumbnails) so that you can browse a 'flat' list of thumbnails of your photos, overcoming the inconvenience of having to go into separate folders in Windows Explorer to have to find files. But if you do NOT use Photoshop Album Starter edition to download files from your camera, then you will find that folder empty.

  • Re: unlock code to Photoshop album Starter Edition 3

I too have got problems with the Photoshop Album Starter Edition Album. My photos are locked in there from 2006 onwards and without any warning I am now unable to access them. The on screen message asks me to register with Adobe for an unlock code and when I tried this the reply came back that the product is no longer supported by Adobe. I rang their customer services (UK) and they told me they no longer supported this product and to contact an IT support man!!!!
Appalled at this. Thanks Adobe - I think not. Anybody else offer me support in overcoming this problem? Thanks.

    Adobe Poor,
You're not alone in wondering about how to get photos 'out' of Starter Edition. There are a few posts like this in the forum, all of which are based on the false assumption that Starter Edition has exclusive access to the photos that appear to be 'in' the program.
