Photoshop Album + Vista x64

Hi, I've just upgraded to Vista, and Photoshop Album 3.0SE works fine except that every time I open an image etc, the EULA pops up and I have to click accept - any workaround?

We got a new computer with Vista. The old one was XP. Had photoshop Album 3.2 on the XP with thousands of photos "tagged" by subject. We installed PSA 3.2 on the new Vista computer. Now how do we transfer the "tags" over. One article said to duplicate the path to the photos from the old computer. Unfortunately, Vista won't allow me to name a directory as "Documents and Settings". We are about to panic - please help! Thanks i advance.

  • Photoshop CS4 (Vista x64) Type Tool Crash

    Hey guys,
I recently installed CS4 and am loving it a lot. Although, I have found a very fatal bug that I need to correct.
I'm running Photoshop Extended on Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 x64. I can start Adobe just fine, make documents, and such. The crash happens any time I go to make some text. I am able to start the text tool and then it will crash the second I click to start typing. I googled on this issue and found that it is likely a font in my library causing the issue, but how do you find the font that is causing the trouble?
    A few notes:
    - this only happens on the 64-bit version. 32-bit works fine.
    - looking at the list of fonts, there are only a tiny chunk that have font previews, the rest are blank.
Hopefully someone knows how to single out the font causing the issue and I can get this resolved.
    Thanks

The "issue", as you call it, is caused by the font being faulty (by omission or design). Adobe programs tend to object to faulty fonts but the onus is upon the font designer to follow specifications.
Having said that, it would be nice if Adobe could make their application degrade gracefully rather than locking up when it encounters such a problem.
    You
may be able to use the font by disabling font previews in preferences.

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 Trial on Vista x64

    Hi everyone,
I got a big problem, I download the Photoshop Extended Trial Version and extracted it without any problem. But when I double-click setup.exe nothing happens. It seems to popup a window, but its gone every fast. When I open the Taskmanager I can see the setup.exe under processes, but nothing happens also after hours of waiting.
    My PC:
    Intel E8400
    4 Gb G.Skill DDR1000
    Gigabyte P35-DS3
    Gecube HD3780 X-Turbo
    Windows Vista x64 Ultimate
    C: (NTFS) 94800 MB (18418 MB frei)
H: (NTFS) 61440 MB (27418 MB frei) <--- here I extracted the Folder
    What I had tried beforce:
    - Installing in safe-mode = same problem
    - register jscript.dll myself = same problem
    - Uninstall CS3 = same problem
    - Using AdobeCS3Cleaner
    - Using AdobeCS3Cleaner -> found nothing...
    - delete last things of CS3 with TuneUp

    Peter,
To avoid complications, I would have uninstalled the trial first, then run the Adobe clean-up script, followed by the installation of the full version using the default location.
This has both a 32 bit and a 64 bit component, installed as follows:
    32 bit C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4
    64 bit C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit*)
The 64 bit version will be the default on a 64 bit OS.
In your situation I would uninstall everything related to CS4, run the Adobe clean-up script and start again.
    * Adobe should note that
    bits have a small
b and Bytes have a big one!

  • Problems Installing CS3 Web Premium on Windows Vista x64

I was (key word) having problems with my installation of CS3 on my brand new (3 days old) computer with Windows Vista x64. Finally after two days of installing and uninstalling, I called Adobe support. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they solved my problem (if only I had called sooner).
Having worked on this for 2 days I have seen and tried everything except of course the cure. So I wanted to put this out there for any one else that is having problems.
    The symptoms:
    - Everything seemed to install correctly (except acrobat which is another story. you can find lots of post about that.). No errors during installation. And when it finally completed installing, all that was left was to click "finish" which indicated to me that installation was successful.
    - Open Photoshop. PS would open and immediately stop working. Vista said it was not responding.
    - Open any of the other programs and the little vista circle would spin for 5 to 10 seconds then nothing. Program did not start to open. Just nothing.
The problem: Unbeknown to me (never saw an error message) "Licensing for this product had stopped working". When I described above symptoms tech support went straight to this.
The solution: Download the Licensing Service Update and run it. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401528
Once I ran this, Photoshop opened and let me enter serial number and activate CS3.
If after your installation, Photoshop or any of the other programs seem to get stuck or you never get the dialog box to enter serial number, the Licensing Service Update should fix things for you.

wow...thank you so much for this posting. I just got home & followed your steps and now I have CS3 up & running. After 4 days of stressing out, finally someone was able to assist. Why can't the Adobe Experts & Employees on these forums supply this much needed information?????
I seriously understand why people want to get crack versions of this software rather than paying hundreds of dollars like us and avoid all this BS and get no support whatsoever!
    Thank you again!!

  • Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer catalog conversion

I'm having trouble converting Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 catalog to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer.  I get a Conversion Failed error which tells me to repair with the program that created it.  I have tried several things including deleting all .avi files from the catalog, deleting references to missing files and backing up then trying to convert from an external HD.  I'm running Vista Home Premium on a HP laptop.  The Organizer optimize and repair don't seem to help in this case.
Does anyone have any history with this or advice?

Please refer to following KB article which deals with catalog conversion failures:-

  • Photoshop Album 2.0 Catalog problem

I have been using Photoshop Album 2.0 on my old computer (Windows XP) for some time. My new computer is Vista 32bit. I have installed Album 2.0 on the new computer. I have used Easy Transfer to transfer the Photoshop Album Catalog to the new computer. When I open Photoshop Album all I get is a blank catalog page. Does Vista support this version of Photoshop. How can I retrieve my pictures and settings.

It's not compatible with Vista, no.
You might try the free Album Starter Edition, although I'm not sure if you can just open an existing Album 2.0 catalog in it (I don't use either software, so I just don't know).
If your catalog is empty, then it's possible you didn't transfer the actual image files to the new computer.
Album only stores a link to the images on your hard drive, so you have to have the files in place for the catalog to see them.

  • Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0

When will we see our Photo iPods be able to use the newest Adobe Photoshop Album software? i was also wondering if there was a way to sort the pictures in Adobe Photoshop Album so that they are sorted on your iPod. yesterday i took all this time to move all my pictures over to Adobe and sort them. when i moved them over to my iPod and they had all been unsorted and throne into one folder. is there a way to stop this? also i would like to see a function on the iPod where i could just drag and drop pictures into a folder on my iPod and they would just show up once i undock. an example of that is with the txt documents and contacts. all you have to do is drop them in a folder and iPod finds them.
    Thanks,
    John

OK, I think I figured it out. PS SE 3.2. works on vista. To transfer tags from an old (winxp)-computer, you need to copy to files: They are stored to different places under xp and vista. XP: Find the files called .../Photoshop Album/Calalog folders/my catalog/tn.4.cache and .../Photoshop Album/Catalogs/My catalog.psa. These two files contains all tags, thumbnails and so on. The problem is that they are stored different places under xp and vista. XP: You find then in the c:/documents and settins/....
    Vista: Programdata/Adobe/Photoshop album/....
You can see what catalogs are used in PA SE 3.2 if you press "help->about pa se 3.2.
If you store youre pictures on new catalogs on your new computer, you can use the "Reconnect missing files"-function in PA SE. This works pretty well. I reconnected 2000 pictures within an hour.

  • Another CS4 and Vista x64 GPU SLi Support Question

After reading some of the forums I could not really find a clear answer on the following:
I am running Vista x64 Ultimate on a QX6850 system with 8GB of RAM. I also have 2x XFX8800GT graphics cards running in SLi with the latest Nvidia drivers (181.20). Dxdiag testing provides no errors.
The GPU support features in CS4 x64 (and x32) is greyed out with the text wording of no support in Photoshop standard. Based on some of the threads posted here, I tried enabling or disabling some settings in the Nvidia control panel, but the only one that seem to enable the GPU support is to deactivate SLi completely (which sort of defeats the purpose in 3D graphics).
Does CS4 support an SLi setup? If not, will there be any difference in performance with SLi disabled and using the CS4 GPU support vs the other way around?
    Thank you for your assistance.

Negitive. It is written on the CS4 requirements section. Only 1 GPU.

  • Photoshop Album Started Edition question

I have Photoshop Elements 3.0.1 (including the Organizer) that I bought a few years ago.  I just noticed there is a Photoshop Album starter edition 3.2 free download.  Are the version numbers comparable so that I could update my Organizer with a more recent version for free?  If so would I need special procedures to transfer all by photos into the newer version?
    Thanks for any help.

Beware that as time goes by, it will be less and less likely you'll be able to convert your PSA catalog to a later version of PSE.  Already, a number of people have reported difficulty converting old catalogs to PSE 7, and some have had to resort to finding old copies of PSE 5, converting from 3 to 5, and then converting from 5 to 7.   Unfortunately, Adobe provides no effective support for such issues and seems unconcerned about the numerous bugs reported in the last two years with the catalog conversion process.
Also, Vista only supports PSE 5.02 and later on Vista.  Some people have reported being able to run earlier versions on Vista, and some have reported problems.  With the upcoming Windows 7, it's even less likely that old versions of PSE/PSA are going to run on it.
Adobe generally releases new versions of PSE in the fall in preparation for the Christmas season.

  • Photoshop Album to Elements 7

I need help!  I bought a new computer and was unable to load my photoshop album 2 on it because it runs vista.  I called adobe and was told to purchase and download elements 7.  Once I did I was told to call back and they would walk me through transfering all my 5000 pics along with the data attached to each picture.  When I made the call I was told they were unable to help me because they no longer support elements 2 and that 2 and 7 are not compatable.  So, my question is what should I do.  I really don't want to have to reenter all the information.  I was wondering if maybe I downloaded each version and transfered to each if I would eventually be able to transfer everything to 7.
    Thanks

  • How do I transfer tags from Photoshop Album to PSE 7?

I hope someone can help me here.  I have downloaded PSE7 and intend to buy it as I understand that this is the upgrade path for Photoshop Album.  I bought a new computer running Vista but Album does not work with it.
I have tried to convert the .PSA catalog file from Album, but PSE tells me that it can't complete the job and wants me to repair the file with the original product.  I have no idea how to do this or indeed what it means.  The file works fine on my XP computer with the same pictures.  Does anyone know what I can do to make this work?  If it doesn't work I will have to retag over 5000 pictures.  I really don't want to do that, and will probably not go on to purchase the product.
    Thanks in advance.  Mike

Thanks for your very prompt response.  Unfortuanately I have tried this and still the same answer.  I have even tried saving the catalog as another filename, but it still tells me to repair the file in the original application.
Any further help would be gratefully received.

  • Is Photoshop Album 3.2 A Product For The Future?

I am a long time user of Photoshop Album 2.0 and like it a lot because of its great photo organizer but when it wouldn't load onto a Vista computer, Adobe pointed me to 3.2 Starter Edition. When I went to numerous software stores and online to try to buy a cd version of it, I came up dry. Then I looked on the Adobe web site and had a very difficult time even finding it mentioned, never seeing it listed as any kind of main Adobe product. There seems to be an Adobe push to get you to buy Photoshop Elements. I also have been a long time used of that product but don't find any kind of photo organizer in it. Sure not like that in Photoshop Album. Now maybe recent editions of Elements do have an organizer, but I think it may be an online storage thing. Am I wrong? I am wondering if I should pursue Photoshop Album 3.2 any longer for my photo organizer (I haven't paid anything for it yet) as I wonder if it will be around long when you can't find it being sold in stores or online sites, and when even Adobe doesn't seem to want to mention it in their site. Thanks for any input on the future of 3.2.

I would not encourage you to use PSA SE 3 over 2.0. 2.0 was a more
full-featured program. The real replacement is Photoshop Elements 7.0...
There is a trial for it that you can run at the same time as PSA SE 3.x
I run the full version as well as Photoshop CS 4 without difficulties.
    Cheers

Your photos are safe, and are present in the folder on your computer that you specified when importing them. If you used Photoshop Album Starter Edition to import your files from the camera without changing the default folder, look in this folder:
