Photoshop/Bridge - CS6, prevents deleting files.

What is causing this?
Photoshop/Bridge prevents deleting files. After I'm done with a job I store it on the server then try to delete the folder or files I've finished from my desktop.
No can do.
I found I have to shut down Photoshop and Bridge then I can move the stuff into trash.
Real PITA
What causing this & what's the solution (if any)?
cvt

Photoshop doesn't keep files open after saving.  Bridge might have a bug, or you may be using a third party plugin with a bug (certain font managers have had problems like this).

  • Finally installed Adobe Photoshop Bridge CS6

I Finally installed Adobe Photoshop Bridge CS6 after 7 attempts and 3 appeals to Adobe support.
Adobe technical support was not helpful and I had to solve the problem myself.
The problem was that when installing Photoshop CS6 the Adobe Bridge component would not install.  This was because our corporate McAfee "virus scan enterprise 8.7.0i" was preventing the Adobe installer from changing or writing to the AutoRun.INF file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CS6 Extensions\Adobe Output Module\mediagallery\resources\flashgallery\AUTORU.inf.
Once I disabled McAfee I was able to install all of the software. I am now able to run Adobe Bridge.
Our corporate version of McAfee has not pteviousaly created a problem with software installations.
Problem solved with no help whatsoever from Adobe

Problem solved. Yes, it was a coincidence. The problem had to do with my DVD preferences, not the Adobe installation. Thanks for your reply.

  • Rating and labelling images is not working in Photoshop Bridge CS6. The Rating and Label headings in the Label menu are greyed out. Any ideas for correcting this would be appreciated.

  • Bridge CS6 Mac XMP File Info Panel Bug: can't copy and paste metadata

The cmd-keys / shortcuts doesn't work in the xmp file info panel btw. in the xmp / iptc fields (e.g. cmd+c, cmd+v, ...) of Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac OS 10.6.8 and 10.7.3). You are not able to cut and paste info from one box to another like previous versions.
This bug only appears in the xmp file info window (opened via alt+i) in Bridge CS6 - if you edit information or metadata in the file info panel in Photoshop CS6 copy and paste from one field to another works.
The shortcuts also work under Windows (tested under Vista).
I noticed this minor bug already one in the Photoshop CS6 Beta more than one months ago. I hoped that this was corrected in the official test version, but unfortunately it is not. Although it is a minor bug, it is IMHO a basic function and would be very helpful in my daily work - it is too bad, that such a small thing is making working with the application a little bit annoying.

Thanks! If there is a workaround or simple solution, I would be very glad if you could inform me.

  • Bridge CS6 not reading file metadata

    Bridge CS6 5.0.2.4, Mac OS X 10.9.2, Photoshop 13.0.6 x64.
In Bridge, only the File Properties info appears. Data for other categories such as IPTC Core and Camera Data (Exif) no not appear although checked in Preferences, but after opening a file in Photoshop the info is all there in the File Info window. If I try to append or replace data using a template, the choice is grayed out. Keywords I have created in the past appear in the metadata window, but none are checked for saved files. Thumbnails are also very slow to build. Even reading old files from a CD in Bridge fails to show data like EXIF.
I've tried deleting and rebuilding the cache, trashing prefs, no help.
Maybe this is caused by a problem with OS X 10.9.2? I don't believe I had this problem before thatchange a few weeks ago.
    Thanks for any help, Ross

For legacy files, which seem to be pre-2007, the metadata fields seem to be read-only, I can't enter or change a field such as description, for example. Even newer folders have spotty reliability, some files show metadata and others don't.
I restored my cache from a backup and that helped some, but didn't really solve the problem. Next I guess I'll try to restore my boot drive. The CS6 installation (not CC) was via a download, so I'm not sure how to reinstall that, and I don't want to lose all my customized windows, keywords, etc.

  • Photoshop / Bridge CS6 does not open the selected image thumbnails.

    Hello,
When I open an image with the "Open Camera Raw" in Adobe Bridge CS6, I get the error:
"Bridge's parent apllication is not active.
Bridge requires que qualifiying the product has been launched at least once to enable this feature."
My OS is Windows Vista with all automatic updates.
    Grateful for any help.

    When you remove the obvious,
that which is left must therefore be the truth -- Sherlock Holmes
    Short version:
When I created a new lightroom catalog, and imported a single, standalone file, It worked fine. But when I imported to the new catalog, any photos from my existing catalog, it would fail.
Turns out that I was doing something a bit out of the ordinary with the IPTC Copyright field. In order to make my copyright information look "different" when I would export a file.
One would normally put in that field something like "© 2009 someone". I discovered a few months ago that I could make this field display as a multi line entry.
    ie.
if you wanted to put XY into the copyright field, but wanted it to display as:
    X
    Y
all you would have to do is to put a carrage return between the two characters. (hint ctl^enter). Now when you displayed the "copyright" in an output file, it will display
vertically instead of all the characters in a horizontal line.
After being frustrated by this for a couple of weeks, I simply started removing every option that I might have applied to photographs that I would import with Lightroom. One of the last ones was the "vertical" information I put in the copyright field in a Preset. (when you remove the obvious...).
Funny thing is that no program really cares about the formatting of that field, or if it has multiple lines in the data, or special characters.......It even opens up just fine in Photoshop / Gimp / PSE / etc. with no problems.
But, if you have multiple lines of data in the Copyright Field (and I suspect others as well),
AND you want to open up the file from Lightroom in Photoshop, using the standard menu item of " Edit with Photoshop CS4", for some reason Photoshop will start, but never open the designated file. I would expect some parsing something just giving up after it encounters a CR.
But.....All is well that ends well. Now I can quit obsessing, and move on to something else...
    Best,
    Jim

  • .mov won't play in quicktime after previewing in photoshop bridge cs6, what do I do to fix?

    I have a iMac, OS X 10.8.5, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5.
I don't like how iphoto organizes my files so have been organizing my photos and videos from my iphone into folders after exporting them from iphoto.
These are the steps I believe I took in regards to my "corrupted" .mov file:
    -imported into iphoto
    -exported originals from iphoto
-re-organized photos and videos using adobe bridge CS6
-tried to open my .mov from bridge (default is to open in quicktime), I'm getting a small black quicktime box (as compared to a large window where the file will play), but video will not play.
-video will play inside of bridge preview window but file will not play in quicktime.
HOW DO I GET MY FILE TO PLAY IN QUICKTIME?
DID I MISS A HIDDEN FILE WHEN MANUALLY MOVING THE FILES IN BRIDGE?
I no longer use this process.
I am using image capture to import and then organizing from there.
I don't believe I have an issue with my .mov files anymore.
This seems like something caused by iphoto. ????

Upon further research, I found that a certain QT plug-in is required to use XDCAM EX footage in Final Cut Express, which can be found on this website:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
I downloaded the demo, but have no idea how to use it to convert my files so FCE will accept it.  Is anyone familiar with this plug-in and what to do once it is downloaded?

  • Bridge - can't delete files in some folders

I just installed CS3 on my new PC. My problem is that in SOME (but not all) folders when I hit delete to get rid of some files it just totally ignores the command - it's not rejecting it - i've tried ALT+ delete and even the dustin icon at the top right hand side. NOTHING - it's as if i haven't pressed anything.
then i've opened other folders (on the same drive) and the delete works like a dream. around half the folders on my drive have 'deletable' files and half are completely stuck. I copied one folder onto a different drive and from there i am able to deletes files from it.
any ideas what is going on????????????????
    thanks
    desperate in London!

Thanks curt young, that was the ticket.
I'm running Vista 64 with 8GB of memory, quad core, because it's noticeably faster than XP. I too am always in Administrator mode.
But...I had the "permissions" message too, right clicking on the icon, going into Properties, then clicking on Compatibility tab, then checking the "Run this program as an administrator" box solved the problem instantly on next program load.
Vista...what a concept. For that matter, Bridge, what a concept. As in, great concept, when are you guys at Adobe going to fix all the bugs in this useful but klugey program?
But at least it's working for now after the fix, thanks again curt.
How stupid is it for a program or an OS to require that, even though you're logged in as Admin, you have to tell the program to run in Admin? Just lame as all heck. ;-) Don't mind me, I'm in a rant mood this morning.
    peace, love, Obama 08

  • Why is My MetaData Window of Bridge CS6 Displaying Incorrect File info?

The File Properties tab in the MetaData Window of Bridge CS6 is saying that my file is 72 ppi but when I open my file in PS it is actually 300 ppi 15x10 inches. See screen grab below. I understand that 72 ppi at 125" x 41.7" is the same as a 300 ppi file that is 30" x 10" or 9000 x 3000 pixels dimensions. But why is bridge making this conversion and displaying the file resolution as being 72 ppi when the file is 300 ppi? Is there a preference setting somewhere that I need to change?
When I look at these same files from another networked machine using Bridge CS6 the Metadata window is showing the files as being 300 ppi? Is there a setting inside Bridge somewhere that is making it show all files in the Metadata window as being based upon a 72 ppi resolution?

    jonnymo,
I believe I should have said Yosemite/Column view.
Has the issue appeared after an upgrade to Yosemite?

  • Photoshop Bridge CS6 is not operating properly after most recent update to Photoshop CS6.

I updated Photoshop CS6 (through Adobe Creative Cloud) a few days ago.  Since the update, Bridge does not show changes in the images when viewing the thumbnails.  Opening in Camera Raw does show the changes.  But this outcome negates the purpose of Bridge.  I want to see the changes made (to the Camera Raw files) in the "filmstrip" thumbnails without having to open each file individually.
Other problems exist.  The icons for rotating the images are grayed-out.  Even worse, the vertically oriented images are shown as being horizontally-oriented.
Can anyone offer help on this problem?
    Thanks
    Jim H.

I am on the Adobe Download Assistant. It was stuck at "less than a minute" for an hour and a half, showing that the installation was basically done, since the installation bar was full.  But it was stuck.  Now it has stopped all together, and is restarting the download from scratch.
Apparently it does not save the download, or only saves a small portion.
    c:\adobe/CS6MasterCollection/MasterCollection_CS6_LS16.7z.adadownload
It is at 85.6 MB, even though a short time ago it was close to 99.9% done with the 6,352 MB download.
My internet connection is fine, all is working, and I am able to browse, etc.
I have been careful to keep activity minimal on the computer, so as to avoid conflicts.
The conflicts are with the Adobe Download Assistant.
I amabout ready to just give up, and look for alternatives.
    Please help.

  • Photoshop/Bridge CS6 Could not build preview because of a disk error: Mac10.8.2

The crashes always occur while editing a photo  in the Camera Raw editor in Bridge (most of the time they are JPG files, yes you can edit JPGS in the Adobe Camera Raw editor) and then hit the "Open Image" button that will open the image in Photoshop. That's when things lock up. Often Bridge, Photoshop and InDesign all are "not responding" and have to be force quit.
Always when I'm editing a photo in Photoshop that is on a server I get the " Could not create a preview because of a disk error message" which I have to hit the OK button to clear. I just tested this several times and I never get the disk error message when editing an image from my hard drive. I suspect there is a network communication problem.
    MacBook Pro 15" Early 2011
    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    8GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
    OS 10.8.2 (12c60)

I am having the same problem.  I work off of a server too and I get the "Could not create preview because of a disk error" message too.  The actual preview itself is there once I hit OK but this is so annoying because it keeps me from batch processing images.  The message comes up for each image you try to save out so you have to set there and hit enter between each image when you run an action.  Any help to correct this error would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.

  • Update for photoshop cs5 not working, deletes files before installl happens

My computer crashed, so I rebuilt it.  I installed photoshop CS5 with no errors.  I go to update it and it downloads without any problems.  Then when it goes to install it errors out.  I found that just as one part of the update is 100% downloaded, it is deleted.  And this happens for each and every part of the update, so when it goes to install the updates, there is no files to do that with.

I went to that web site and downloaded those files.  And what happens?  Most of the files extract without any problem, but the one that errror out on every single one I downloaded was the AdobepatchInstaller.exe.  I have 2 computer and tried it on both computers and both said the same thing.  When it does extract it, it says it is corrept.  So now how is that my computers fault????
