Photoshop Button Error

Hi,
I have a few buttons I created in Photoshop with two states. I placed one on the homepage without a problem. When I go to place another button on the homepage, I get this error:
"Button Sample 2.PSD cannot be used to replace the existing page item. Please relink to a different file or place this file separately."
Nothing is highlighted or selected when I am trying to place this second button.
Please help.
Thanks!

Hi,
I have tried to replicate the issue at my end and I'm able to add multiple photoshop buttons to the Muse pages.
To further investigate I'll need to look at your file and buttons, Please send your .muse file with the buttons you are placing and a link to this forum topic to my attention to [email protected] If your .muse file is larger than 20MB use a filesharing service like SendThisFile or Adobe SendNow.

  • Every time I try to create a new button I get "photoshop file error -1"

I'm creating a BluRay set of discs. I'm on number 4 and there will probably be 12. I use the previous discs as a template for the new ones to save huge amounts of time. I haven't had an issue till I opened my project today. Usually I right click on a menu, edit it in photoshop, save it back in, and then I right click the new elemnts and turn them into buttons. I've made dozens of menus like this. Then today I get "photoshop file error -1" that pops up every time I try to make something into a button. I deleted the menu I was working on and used a different menu to rebuild it but I get the same problem. I then opened the photoshop file and saved it to a different location outside the project and then imported it into Encore. Same problem once I tried to make buttons. I also tried trashing the preferences. No Luck. I really need to get this working. It has completely destroyed my ability to get this job done. Ideas anyone?
If it helps, I am on a Mac running OS X 10.9.1. Encore is version CS5.1.

I thought there ought to be way to add buttons from the Encore library, but I don't think we found one.
Best case: add menu from the library with buttons like what you want. Change background etc.
I like working that way rather than adding things within Encore.
Worst case: add a menu with the buttons you want; "edit in photoshop" and also "edit in photoshop" your menu; copy paste to your menu.
You can also directly open library menus; add buttons etc from the encore library folders. I would make a copy of them first. Encore imports a menu from the library to your project; it is never working on its master copy.

  • How do I import a Photoshop button (including it's different states) into the muse menu widget?

I had the idea of using the "place Photoshop button" option to configure the states in my horizontal menu bar in Muse.  I started out trying to use the widget, after playing with the options it seems I can either load each individual state one at a time in manual mode or I can try to make a menu bar from the buttons and manually place the respective links.  I would be grateful for a suggestion or alternative method that is as easy as the "place Photoshop button" option, I love that feature.  Thanks in advance.
    J
UPDATE:  I found that I could use Fill image then in import fill options, import layer + clip layer contents for each of the states.  It was working very well but I noticed an error in one of my buttons states so I had to go back to Photoshop.  When I returned to start this process again and I clicked import layer, the states are all flat plain text without any of the blending options I had set for each state. The odd part is that I can see all the layers in composite, but it will not let me place each layer as it did before.
After several frustrating hours going through every step I edited and even trying to load the buttons I thought were exactly the same file I used before I could not find what I had done differently to cause this.  I did successfully place each Photoshop button in empty space and the cut and paste them into the menu. Which is way easier then the original method.  I would like to know if anyone has an idea what went wrong for the sake of knowledge.  Also thought that this cut paste method might help others trying to build menu buttons outside of Muse.

I'm afraid Photoshop is a graphics program ill suited for generating good HTML and CSS code.  Use Photoshop to create your images only. Use DW to build your HTML, CSS and menus.

  • Photoshop file error -1

Hi! I am trying to convert my smart object into a button on encore.  I keep getting the same error over and over "photoshop file error -1."  It awful.  I need to be able to fix this or at least work around it.  Any suggestions would be great!
    I am using cs 5.5
    Mavericks OSX
    Mac 2014

The error "photoshop file error -1" results from multiple problems, and you appear to be having a different problem than OP in this thread.
Do you get the error in any situation other than going into the flowchart?
Create a new Encore project, do not add timelines. Import your 3 menus; do you see the error?
If yes, create new project and add 3 menus from the Encore library. Do you see the error?

  • Photoshop File Error-1 in Encore CS6 Menus / General Error

    Greetings,
I recently had to install the whole CS again. I have had the program work previously before but with these issues now, I am lead to believe it is some installation issue.
    I will go to
File-> New ->Menu. Then create a new timeline, import a video as asset. I will then go to the Flowchart area, Click on what would be the first button on the menu.  From there I go to the right hand side in the Properties area for the buttons. I attempt to use the pickwhip to LINK the chapter point I want and to the button.
This seems to be done successfully. Next I will go in the properties area to edit the text in the Name field. After tabbing out of that field. I get the "Photoshop File Error-1" Pop up error message.
I could then go back to File-> New-> Menu and then I would get a "General Error" message that I would not be able to close out of. The only way to close the program is to do so with Task Manager.
    Suggestions?

    Sorry I am occupied elsewhere.
Try some of these. I don't know whether any of these address the point at which you are getting the error. Can you "Edit in Photoshop," is you right click on a menu?

  • Adobe Encore - Background Video Rendering & 'Photoshop File Error - 1'

Hi, I am having serious problems with Adobe Encore at the moment, and really need help fast.
I am currently making a DVD project where:
I have used Photoshop to create the buttons (It's just the two buttons/options created in groups with the text and their highlights. There is no background).
Once that was done, I created a spearate animation in After Effects that allowed images to change from one to the next.
I exported this as an MPEG so that it could be inserted as a background video in Encore.
So I went back to Encore, inserted the buttons and my background video, created the motion properties so that the video would play behind the buttons (and I did the same for audio). Then I went to preview it, and clicked 'render' and it wouldn't! It just pops up 'Photoshop File Error-1'.
I read that other people have the same problem and have tried editing the psd with the buttons, but still nothing has helped!!!
    Can someone please help me??
I would really appreciate it. Thank You
By the way, I am using MAC OS X Version 10.9.2 (Mavericks), if that matters.

    >alert them to the problem, and fix it?
Will never be fixed... CS6 is done
CS6 is the final Encore http://www.adobe.com/products/encore/faq.html

  • "Photoshop file error -1" While building project

I've spent the past couple of days working hard on a DVD project in Encore. I finally finished and was ready to "build" it, when I got the message "Photoshop file error -1".
This is frustrating because I have to get this DVD to my client very soon. I'm running on OS X v10.9.3. What does this have to do with Photoshop, and is there any solutions to this?
    Help would be deeply appreciated.

So that agardenofthemind does not think he is losing his mind, let me share this: I attempted to do buttons in Encore and also tried to change the name of marker points in Encore and the same problem arose. I was successful in changing them solely in Photoshop so I did that. We seem to have VERY similar issues. I know my solution doesn't seem like it should be the problem and solution but trust me, I went back and tried it several times with the SAME result. In fact, I took another project and did the same thing. It is somehow tied to audio in the menus. Yet this audio works perfectly as a DVD. Very weird to me.

  • Photoshop file error -43 on "Edit in Photoshop"

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a simple menu using an Encore library menu a starting point. When I click the Edit in Photoshop button, I get the above error. Below are the steps to recreate the error. This youtube video also shows the steps.
    Create a new project.
Drag PAL_blank menu WIDE from the library to the project window.
Drag Nifty Fifties button from library to the menu.
Click the Edit in Photoshop button.
Encore pops up an error box containing the error message "Photoshop File Error -43"
Photoshop CS5 and Encore CS5. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

    Also CS5, Win7 64 bit.
I do not get the error.
Slight variation on your steps: I create a new project, set as PAL.
The menu list does not show pal or ntsc, just Blank Menu Wide, but the menu name once in is PAL_Blank Menu WIDE.
I don't think there is any choice on those points, and don't believe it has anything to do with the error.
Its a file not found error. Makes me wonder about permissions. Try starting Encore as "run as administrator."

  • Photoshop CS5: error when printing to Xerox Phaser 7750

    Mac 10.6.5
I get the following error when I print directly to my Xerox Phaser 7750 from Photoshop CS5:
    "Error: /Library/Printers/Xerox/Filters/pstophaserps failed"
All the other CS5 apps (plus Photoshop CS4) have no trouble printing.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Something doesn't add up since PS CS4 works ok. What's different about CS5? 64bit?
My guess would be that Photoshop is the only app you use that prints PostScript through the Cocoa drivers, and thus the only one hitting that particular part of the driver software.

  • "...not a valid Photoshop document" error when opening Mac cc file on PC

I get a "Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document." error message whenever I try to open up a PSD file created on a Mac using Photoshop CC on my PC using CC. Other people have been able to open the file from the same location, so the files aren't corrupted. Anyone know how to fix this?

I know this thread is a bit old, but I wanted to share my experience and solution in case anyone else runs into this.
The other day, I spent many hours editing some photos for a client. I saved them all and closed Photoshop. When I tried to open the .PSDs, they all came up with this "Not a valid Photoshop document" error. I was freaking out. I could see the thunmbnails and previews with the MacOS Finder and could see the images just fine in Lightroom, but couldn't open them in Photoshop CC.
Finally, I remembered that these were NOT supposed to be .psd files! They were supposed to be TIFFs. What happened was, when I edited them from within Lightroom into Photoshop, they opened as TIFFs. However, when I did "save as", I wanted to name them similarly to some other files I had. I clicked on one of the existing files to copy the file name in the Save As dialog to make it easier to name the new file I was saving, but I didn't realize it was changing the file extention from ".tif" to ".psd" as well. The older MacOS (version 9 and earlier) didn't rely on file extensions fo identifying file types, so it didn't hit me right away that this would be the problem. When I changed the incorrect .psd file extension to .tiff, the files opened in Photoshop just fine.
SO... if you run into this "Not a valid Photoshop document" error, try figuring out if it's actually another file type (.jpg, .tif, .png, etc) by either getting the file info from another program or just experimenting with different file extensions. Chances are good that your file isn't actually corrupt, but just named improperly!

photoshop cs6 error "could not use the type tool because the target channel is hidden.  happens when im typing in photoshop, go to another layer and then come back. can't alter text at that point.  i really need to get thsi figured out. thank you.

You may have answered my question. I AM using the 64bit version of Illustrator CS6. I had no idea there were bugs in it that affected paths copied and pasted from Illustrator to Photoshop.
A bit more about what I'm trying to accomplish... I'm trying to follow Deke's tutorial (http://www.deke.com/content/dekes-techniques-018-creating-a-3d-pie-chart) which is already difficult since so much has changed between CS5.5 and 6, but then on top of that, I keep getting errors!
So I created the pie chart exactly as he shows and copied and pasted into Photoshop exactly as he does. Before submitting this post, though, I tried drawing just two very simple triangle shapes, copying them both and pasting them into Photoshop as a shape layer. The shapes weren't overlapping, but they were a part of the same shape layer just like the pie chart tutorial.
Thanks for your help. If there is anything else I should try before just giving up because of the 64bit bugs, please let me know.

  • Loss of "Edit in Photoshop" button functionality with Photoshop CC

First, I must say I am highly dissapponted in Adobe's decision to stop developing Encore. I know that streaming and cloud access to video projects is the fture, but DVD and BluRay is still the standard for a majority. I film events, weddings, training sessions, etc. and am still asked to provide a hard copy of the product.
I downloaded Photoshop CC and have now lost the "Edit in Photoshop" button functionality. This was an extremely convenient feature allowing editors to modify and enhance DVD and BluRay menus easily in Photoshop given the limited options for editing in Encore itself. Unforutnately, I deleted Photoshop CS6 before checking this. I just assumed that Adobe would have kept this function.
How can I fix this? If I need to re-download Photoshop CS6, will you provide a link to do so?
Finally, is Adobe really sticking to its guns with not continuing Encore? It is one of the best authoring tools I have worked with for its price and its a shame to see it go.

    >will you provide a link to do so?
While there are a "few" Adobe employees who read/post (mostly in the Premiere Pro forum) this is primarily a user to user form... so the best I can offer is the IDEA to look on the Cloud to see if there is a link to download Photoshop CS6
The only actual CS6 link I have is to purchase the standalone (not cloud) products http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_c reativesuite6.html?promoid=KFPMZ but that would mean buying outside of the cloud
You might want to contact Adobe to ask about this - http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
Next link has a "Chat Now" button near the bottom
