Photoshop CC 2014 font issues

I'm Not entirely sure why this is happening, or what's causing it, but photoshop cc 2014 is causing some serious issues with fonts on my documents. Up until this point my company has used Extensis Suitcase Fusion to activate fonts used throughout our project docs. The 2014 typekit update and addition is somehow conflicting with either photoshop or suitcase and in return setting a large portion of my fonts to it's default or regular weight. It seems like while suitcase is auto activating the necessary fonts, typekit is reading each of those weights as their own individual fonts. This might seem difficult to understand but in any case i would just like to know if there is a way to completely deactivate typekit and or remove it's involvement in my project documents, at this point it is resetting dozens of fonts on some very important project files. I'd much rather not be limited to just the fonts that adobe or typekit prefers.

I still don’t have a clue…
So far we’re the only 2 reporting this

  • Save as .pdf  in Photoshop CS5 - serious font issues.

    Hello.
It may not be directly about Acrobat, but since it's a PDF issue maybe someone here will be able to help.
I'm having serious issues with fonts while saving as .pdf from Ps.
No matter what pdf settins I use, the fonts result messed up one way or the other (see attachment). It only happens when saving as .pdf from Ps, while all works fine when saving from Illustrator, Word, etc...
I have no idea what could be the reason. Please help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Attachment:
top: screen capture of .psd in Ps (with font/paragraph settings)
bottom: screen capture of saved .pdf when viewed in Acrobat
Microsoft Windows 7 x32/x64 (same issue on two machines)
    Adobe Photoshop 12.0.3 x32/x64 respectively
    Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.0.0 x64
    Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.1 x32

    Solved.
After going through all the preferences - it was due to "2D graphics acceleration" being on for some reason.
So - you put "2D graphics acceleration" in Acrobat (9 an/or 10) an the above is what you get... hmmm.....
    Thanks for assistance.

  • Photoshop CS5 Tooltip Font Issue

I am using Photoshop CS5, recently updated to 12.0.2 on Windows XP Pro 32 bit.
When I first started using Photoshop CS5, I noticed that tooltips within the application would not show up, even though that option was enabled in Preferences.  Today after installing the 12.0.2 update, the tooltips now show up, but the font is having some issues.  Here's an example:
As you can see, the font of the tooltip is all kinds of messed up.  Restarting Photoshop causes the words in the tooltip to rotate at different angles and display at different sizes and styles.  Disabling and re-enabling tooltips in Preferences has the same effect.  I have not made any recent changes to my font library, or installed any new applications.  This is the only Adobe application in which this is happening.
I've been using Photoshop for about 8 versions by now.  Tooltips aren't really necessary for me anymore, so I can just turn them off and be done with it.  But it's frustrating to not have things working correctly.  Any suggestions?

I understand that corporate IT is slow to adopt new things.  It has always been thus.
But if you write memos to your IT management (and your own management) that say that the apps you need to do your work are really not working right any longer with the old system, that would put some heat on getting them to start to upgrade.  It might even net you a new computer in the short term.
The IT folks skipped Vista (which sounds justifiable, but it really wasn't).  Now they're trying to delay Windows 7 as long as possible.  Give them the reasons they can't.  Windows 7 may be pretty different, but it really works.  They may say they're waiting for Service Pack 1, but I suspect it's fear of change mostly.
Honestly, if any IT department hasn't already begun serious development behind the scenes to work out what's involved with switching to Windows 7, then they are dinosaurs and need to be fired.  It's become impossible to buy computers with XP pre-installed.  What will they do when they buy one that simply can't be downgraded to their own XP installation?  At some point computer companies will determine it's no longer cost effective to support XP (no drivers, etc.).
Microsoft has already ended Mainstream Support for XP and sales of new copies of XP, and has set the Extended Support end date (granted, it's been extended and is not imminent).

Me: It's an AMD HD 6700 display
Adobe: It seems there is an issue with your Graphic Card Drivers.

Adobe: Are you able to launch Photoshop CC 2014?
    Me: Yes
Adobe: It means, issue is with Graphic Card drivers.
    Me: Yes, I knew that
Adobe: I suggest you to contact Graphic Card drivers and check if you can re-install the drivers and use Photoshop CC 2014 with the Graphic Card
Me: SO... PS CC 2014 is incompatible with the AMD drivers?
Me: I've installed 4 versions already. I'm running the latest beta now
Adobe: Could you please provide me with Full name of the Graphic Card?
Me: AFAIK, PS CC2014 is the only program that causes this error
    Me: AMD Radeon HD 6700
Adobe: Dan, issue is due to the Drivers, which are not compatible with Photoshop CC 2014.
Adobe: You may be able to use other products, however if drivers is not compatible with Photoshop CC 2014, you will not be able to use them with Photoshop CC 2014
Me: I think that you have that backwards. PS CC2014 is not compatible with the drivers. It is the only known program to have this problem. Well documented.
Adobe: Please contact Graphic Card provider and check for the drivers or re-install drivers and check.
Me: I did, and they blame Adobe
    Adobe: Okay
Adobe: Photoshop CC 2014 is not compatible with the drivers you have for the Graphic Card, there might be issue with drivers.
Adobe: We have checked with the error logs as well., it show  Fault Module Name: atiocl64.dll
Me: Again, PS CC 2014 is the only known program to clash with atiocl64.dll
Adobe: I can suggest you to check if you can use the product from new Account and use the product or check with Graphic Card provider for the drivers or a proper installation for Graphic Drivers.
Me: Again, I've done all of that
Me: They blame Adobe, and frankly, they are correct. The problem only happens with your product
Adobe: Please use different Graphic Card on your computer and check if you can use it with Photoshop CC 2014.
Adobe: You can follow below link to know more about supported Graphic Cards.
    Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq1.html
Me: Can we elevate this to the next level, please?
Adobe: We have disabled Graphic Card drivers to check if you can launch the product and you were able to launch the product without using the Graphic Drivers.
    Me: Yes.
Me: So PS CC 2014 will not work with this card?
Adobe: Issue is with Graphic Card drivers, we can use Product with graphic Card
Me: So PS CC 2014 will not work with this card?
Adobe: Photoshop CC 2014 is compatible with AMD/ATI Radeon, 6000 series.
Adobe: However you have issue with Graphic card drivers.
Me: No, Adobe has an issue. And I have an issue with Adobe.

Me: No such folder. sniffer.exe is present, however
Adobe: *Locate sniffer file and rename it ~sniffer.
Adobe: Please rename  sniffer.exe to  ~sniffer.exe
    Me: Done
Adobe: Just to confirm, if you have re-enabled your Graphic Drivers?
    Me: Yes
Adobe: Now please re-launch Photoshop CC 2014 and check if you can launch it or same error.
Me: No error. Program loads and runs.
Adobe: Please close and re-run the product and check,
    Adobe: * I mean, close and re-launch
Me: No error. Program loads and runs.
    Adobe: Okay
Adobe: Sniffer file is related to Graphic Processor from Photoshop CC 2014.
Adobe: You can keep it renamed and use the product.
Me: What does sniffer.exe do and can I run PS CC 2014 without it?
Adobe: You will be able to use the product without any issue.
Me: I'm sorry that I had to push you for a solution
Adobe: However I will suggest you to re-check with Graphic Provider and see if they have any drivers which you can use with Photoshop CC 2014, since issue is related to the Graphic Processor.
Me: As of yesterday, they did not
Adobe: I am sorry for the Inconvenience.

    BINGO !!!!
Thanks so much Woodsroad. I had the exact same problem with my Dell Windows 7 64 bit with AMD Radeon 6700 Video card.
All the video tests passed with flying colors.
The sniffer rename trick fixed the problem.

  • Lightroom 5 file edited in photoshop cc 2014 does not appear back next to original after save. Is anyone else having this issue? If so what is the fix.  The edited image appears back in lightroom in a new folder.

Lightroom 5 file edited in photoshop cc 2014 does not appear back next to original after save. Is anyone else having this issue? If so what is the fix.  The edited image appears back in lightroom in a new folder.

I'm performing a normal "Save", not "Save As". Work flow I'm using is as follows:  Select photo in Lightroom 5.7 >" Edit In" Photoshop CC 2014 > (after working on photo is PS) > Save > close PS. Photo returns to Lightroom 5.7 in a new folder rather than next to the original. Prior to purchasing the monthly plan and upgrading to PS CC 2014, I performed this same work flow using Lightroom 5.6 and Photoshop CS6 without any issues.
Just for fun... I attempted to move the edited file back into the original folder. I received a prompt that said the file already existed in the original folder, however I can't see it except the new folder that LR created. I tried several different sort orders, etc without any success.
*** Follow up: Was unable to resolve the issue using Photoshop CC 2014. Uninstalled PS CC 2014 and went back to using Photoshop CS6. Return trips from LR 5.7 to Photoshop is now performing as it should: returning edited photo back to the original folder in LR 5 and placing next to the original image.
Should anyone have a suggestion on getting Photoshop CC 2014 to do the same, I would love to be educated.
    Thanks for the help, dj_paige.

  • I have an issue using Lighting Effects in Adobe Photoshop CC 2014

    Hello everyone,
I am having issues using Lighting Effects in Adobe Photoshop CC 2014. I created a duplicate layer that I want to do the effects on, converted it to a smart object and on that same layer went to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects  to get to the Lighting Effects screen. When adjusting the parameters (drag/reshape the lights) for either the spotlight or point light, I don't see any changes. Can someone tell me what could be the issue or if I'm doing the steps wrong to apply the effects?
    Here are my specs:
    Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.140303-2144)
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600S CPU @ 2.80GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
    Memory: 8192MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 8174MB RAM
Card name: AMD Radeon HD 6570
    Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
    Display Memory: 743 MB
    Dedicated Memory: 1008 MB
    Shared Memory: 3831 MB

I am experiencing flickering issues as well. However my issues are with the Fast Color Corrector and the Three Way Color Corrector. It seems as if the color correction tools are causing intermittent flickering on some people's systems.
Additionally when I converted some old PPCC 7.2.2 projects which had the Three Way Color Corrector applied, some clips in sequences would come up as a green screen in the program monitor. If I turned the TWCC off the footage would display correctly in the program window. If I turn the TWCC back on it would display the green screen again.
I haven't found a solution to the flickering but to solve the green screen issue I have to remove the effect, then re apply it. I guess for whatever reason, the 2014 version of PP has issues with 7.2.2 projects where the TWCC was applied.
I'm hoping Adobe will address this soon with an update for the various bugs that have been reported.

  • Photoshop CC 2014: intermittent and unpredictable issues

My teachers and students are using Photoshop CC 2014, a recent upgrade for us from CS6. We are on Mac OSX 10.9.4 on MacBook Air laptops.
There appears to be a very real issue relating to Layers. Images that are dragged from one window to another (rather than copied and pasted) may disappear entirely. Changes in Layer states or from background to a floating layer, may also result in lost images. My initial thought was that this was related to somehow maxing out the video memory, however that does not seem to be the case: Saving and closing, then restarting the program shows the Layers to be empty. Sometimes, however, the image Layer icon still shows the layer to have the image (but no image is appearing on the actual layer.)
Selection tools – some of the selection tools take on a life of their own and create an unpredictable selection. For instance, using the Quick Selection Tool may look relatively accurate but upon release of the mouse will turn into large stair stepped, ziggurat shaped selections that bear almost no resemblance to the original selection.
Both of the above issues seem to be sporadic and unpredictable: one student may experience once, another may experience it five times in a row, while someone else may be totally unaffected.
There are also intermittent issues of Photoshop simply shutting down.
I'm looking at the possible re-imaging and re-installation of several thousand Macs and would greatly appreciate any insights here.

    factor path
Auto correction can be a tricky thing, huh?
When i'm copying factor path and paste on a new layer it creates a vector mask instead of just placing vector shape,
Do you mean a plain Path?
I suppose you could select/create a Path in the Paths Panel or deselect the Layer in the Layers Panel.

  • Issues with Photoshop CC 2014

I have lost the ability to be productive since purchasing the photographers CC plan and installing Photoshop CC 2014.
    1. Send photo from Lightroom 5.7 to PSCC 2014 then edit using photoshop and NIK collection plugin. Photo begins to loads into PSCC2014 then hang-up and PSCC stops responding causing me to force quit PSCC or photo loads into NIK Collection Plugin without any issues, editing is performed, but when I click "OK" the program hangs up, ( photoshop stops responding), resulting in a Force Quit and loss of all work.
    2. Send image from Lightroom 5.7 to Photoshop CC 2014 using "Edit In". PSCC2014 hangs up while loading image and has to be forced to quit or it loads photo, work is preformed and after clicking "SAVE" to return to LR 5.7 photoshop hangs up and stops responding, causing loss of all edited work.
I have uninstalled PSCC 2014 along with presets and then reinstalled. No change in outcomes! I have updated and reinstalled the NIK Collection Plugin with no change in outcome. I am unable to get any work done for the last 4 days. I am considering canceling my CC account and trying to return to working with LR 5.7 and Photoshop CS6 as I had before purchasing CC photographers plan providing I can with success return to that configuration.
Can anyone help? I sure hope so.
    Thanks… gwj

So the problem is with PSCC, not Lr?

  • Why is Photoshop CC 2014 condensing my fonts?

    Hi All,
I have tested this with various fonts and they all appear to be condensed even though the horizontal and vertical scales are set at 100%. At a guess I would say they are about 80% condensed. If I type directly into photoshop and copy it into illustrator it keeps the condensed visual attributes even though the panel in illustrator says 100% on both horizontal and vertical scales. If I then type out the same text directly in illustrator it is fine and how it should be. Has anyone else had this problem and more to the point has anyone managed to come up with the solution which isn't a work around, surely this should be working as it wouldn't be good if jobs were going off to print without people noticing it?
PS I am running a Mac Pro (Early 2009) with OS X Yosemite and Adobe Photoshop CC 2014.2.1
    Thanks in advance
    Darren

Hi c.pfaffenbichler, thank you for your response but unfortunately this happens no matter what PAR I use, please see below screenshot that shows e.g. of this: The text at the top is set in photoshop and the text at the bottom is the exact same font (arial regular) at the exact same size only imported from illustrator. It seems to be a definite glitch within Photosop to me as this doesn't happen in any other programs.
    TIA Darren

Hi I am an experienced photshop user and using Indesign for the first time.I am designing a magazine layout and was wondering if there will be any font issues with the printer if I do most of the work in photoshop and then import images into design.
For example for the cover the "name of the magazine " text has a layer style which i was not able to create in indesign so I thought to create the entire image in photoshop and then imort into Indesign. What are the cons of this process.
I was thinking of supplying the file as a pdf format in that case the font used will not be embedded in the pdf .Will that be a problem ?? I am also not sure how magazine printing is done so can someone guide me here.
    Thanks

    1.       No, it will all be rasterized.
    2.       Fonts are embedded by default when you save the PDF.

  • After Effects Font Issue vs. Photoshop & Dreamweaver

I installed AfterEffects and got the standard font error issue (After Effects warning: The font dictionary can't be read. Please restart your computer. If this problem persists, please go to http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_ae_fonterror ( 83 :: 3 ). HOWEVER, I don't have any font issues with Photoshop or Dreamweaver. I have a ton of fonts and going through one at a time would be a pain. How about making a program that will run the fonts that the other programs will also run?? For now, I have to get rid of AfterEffects and find something else.

There is no such thing as a "standard font error". Sorry, that's a dangerous generalization and oversimplification. I literalyl have dozens of font errors in my database and they all come with different causes and numbers, meaning they appear in different contexts/ parts of the program/ with different functions used. Since you did not provide any more info about your system or what version of AE you use, we can't even begin to guess. and just because otehr programs show certain fonts doesn't mean they necessarily show up elsewhere. You could have the same problems in otehr tools just as well, so I'm afraid "find something else" without even trying to resolve the issue is not really a productive way to go about the matter and not doing the whole thing justice. A single "bad" font can make or break a system and things like font managers, printer drivers and even your bog standard graphics driver al lhave to do with accessing and rendering fonts and could influence application programs....
