Photoshop CC 2014 - Interface Lag, Slow to Update

Hello,
This issue appears on both OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks on an iMac 2.9 Ghz i5, 8GB Ram, 512 vRam Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M and on a MacBookPro Late 2013 with 2.4GHZ Quad i7, 16GB Ram, 2GB vRam Geforce (Don't have laptop in front of me for exact settings at the moment)
It doesn't occur ALL the time but very frequently. The issue is that I will be working on a file with multiple layers of all sorts, shapes and sizes, then I will SAVE that file, CLOSE it and the go to work on another file and the layers from the previous file are still showing on the Layers Panel. If I go to click on a layer, the old layers will vanish but the layer I selected would be wrong. If I go to select the next layer it will highlight the one I had previous selected, then if I click on a different layer, it would highlight the one I was just trying to select. Like there is a lag in between what is actually selected and what is highlighted.
When this happens ALL of the UI starts to lag. The Character and Paragraph boxes start to lag, for example: trying to set text size or Leading, I would go to type in my size and it won't show. I will tab out of it and it still won't show. If I click off of it and back into it it will refresh and finally be updated to what I entered.
The Tool Bar at the top, I guess is what its called? Where you have your Brush settings if you have the brush tool active, or you have some text settings visible when the text tool is active, this will also be lagged. If I have the Brush tool selected, the Move Tool settings will be showing.
It's all very laggy. I can fix it by quitting Photoshop and re-starting it, but seeing how this happens almost after every file I open it's a major pain since I build like 30 a day where I work.
It's not all the time and there isn't a real rhyme or reason to it. It some times just happens after a long period of time. And it isn't directly relative to how many things I have going on outside of Photoshop. Most of the time I have Chrome running, Mac Mail, Photoshop, Illustrator, Filezilla, Distiller and Acrobat open. But the problem still persists even when Photoshop is running all on its own after a fresh reboot.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing Photoshop CC completely on both machines but it still seems to be a problem. CC didn't have this issue, just 2014.
I don't know what the issue is. Its not a MAJOR issue since quitting the Application and Restarting it fixes it but its an unneeded inconvenience.

Check your Edit - Preferences - Performance settings.
Note:  Make changes methodically, and close and reopen Photoshop after making any change, to ensure you're testing with the updated settings.
1.  Make sure Cache Levels is set to 4 or more - I suggest 6.
2.  In the GPU section, under [Advanced Settings...] try changing to one of the alternate Drawing Modes.
3.  Check the web site of the manufcaturer of your video card (in your case, nvidia.com) for an updated display driver for your operating system and hardware, and download/install if one has been released.
4.  Try resetting all Photoshop preferences to defaults by pressing and holding Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop.  You have to be quick to get the keys down, and if you are quick enough it will prompt to confirm deletion of your preferences, which will lead to creation of a new default set.
I don't know what you mean by "compressing cache", but it doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard that's restorative to Photoshop performance.

I own an iMac late 2013 i7 3,5 Ghz with 16GB ram and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB with OsX Yosemite updated to version 10.10.2
My Photoshop CC 2014 is incredibly slow ever with normal operations like open a JPG file or creating (or switching) between layers.
    I did the following operations:

    2) created 3 adjustment layers and switched between them

Is this slowness issue Photoshop ONLY, or also other apps?
Did you update to 10.10.2 after installing Photoshop? If so, try uninstalling PS and reinstalling it. Also if this fails, try resetting Preferences: Photoshop Help | Preferences
How large is your hard drive? In Photoshop Preferences, is your scratch disk setting set to the largest empty area on any drive?
In the event this is a hardware problem, did you purchase AppleCare? -- If so, I believe you can call take your computer in to an Apple Store and they will test and fix it, no additional charge, unless it's older than 3 years.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 - Liquify lags/stutters with pen

Since installing Photoshop CC Version 2014  yesterday the liquify tool is behaving strangely for me. Moving the Brush Cursor seems laggy/stuttering (hard to describe).. it works 'ok' with a mouse but once i started using the pen it's really laggy.
If you smudge in one direction the smudge appears with a short delay, after that - if you still pressing the pen down - it works fluently. But if i remove the pen and press it again on my tablet surce it lags again at first... So it's very hard to use it properly.
I Tried the 'old' photoshop CC and CS6 (both downloaded from Creative Cloud and still installed) and both still work fine and fluid.
    I'm using Windows 8.1. 64-bit on a Core i7-3770k, 16GB Ram, Gainward Phantom GTX770 graphics card.
Is Anyone else having this problem? or does anyone knows what's causing this?
(if it's a graphic driver problem, why is it still working on photoshop cc, it seems the code for liquify has changed for version 2014).

    I do not have Windows 8 but have seen the following about Windows 8 and Photoshop CC 2014 pen support in an other tread;
Photoshop CC 2014 changes stylus use to use Microsoft system API's, with these API's you need to have Windows Ink enabled. These API's give better stroke results and improve the out of the box experience for users using Windows tablet/convertible devices. If you want to go back to the old WinTab implementation of previous versions do the following:
Create a file that contains instructions to revert to the WinTab functionality.
Create a text file in a text editor such as Notepad.
    Type in the following lines:
    # Use WinTab
    UseSystemStylus 0
Save the file as a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt, and save the file into the Photoshop settings folder: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Settings\.
To turn off the gestalt's functionality, delete the PSUSerConfig.txt file. Or, move it to a different folder if it doesn't contain any other commands, or change the lines so they read:
    # Use Win8 native tablet support
    UseSystemStylus 1

  • Photoshop CC - image edits very slow to update on monitor

    I need some help...
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.  PC with i7-920 processor and 12 gb Memory,  Quadro FX-1800 graphics card.   Photoshop CC with all updates applied as of yesterday.
When I make edits to an image, it takes sometimes 10 seconds or more for the edit to occurr to the image on my monitor.  In bridge, when I label a file with a Color label, the color label does not show up for 10 to 20 seconds.
I'm not sure if I have some kid of cache problem, or what.   So far I've tried 'compressing cache" but it did not help.
I'm open to suggestions on what I can do to fix this.  The software is basically unusable in this state.
    Thanks,

  • Photoshop CC 2014 extremely slow after fresh intallation on MacBook Pro Late 2011, i7   8 GB RAM, Photoshop CS 5.1 performance OK

    Hi there,
I just installed Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 on my MacBook Pro Late 2011 with 8 GB RAM after already having installed CS 5.1 on my MacBook.
So I have both installed at the same time.
But: CS 5.1 is much faster! The first time opening CC 2014 was really shocking, because it was so laggy and still is, and I don't know why this is.
I didn't do any weird performance settings, neither did I change anything else. I open a document in CC 2014 and it takes nearly double the time
compared to opening the same document in CS 5.1.
And with CS 5.1 running the app Memory Clean tells me that i have 1.5 GB of free memory, with CC 2014 running my memory is completely in use.
Are there any tipps/tricks/issues with having both installed at the same time? Am I missing something that is leading to that specific performance
    issue?
I would be glad if someone could help me, because otherwise I have to say that upgrading to CC 2014 and buying the CC license for one year
didn't turn out to be a good thing.
    Thanks!

    Nothing here?
The MacBook now has 16 GB RAM, but not much change. Photoshop CS 5.1 performance is great after splitting the PSD into 3 different ones, Photoshop CC 2014 still much slower.
Does anyone experience the same problems, especially with many groups / layers / smart objects?
And is it possible to get back the money for purchasing the yearly CC license when I'm not satisfied with the product?
    Thank you.

I've installed update Photoshop cc 2014 and after one more update appeared Photoshop cc and I've stupidly updated to this oldest version and I now can't go back to CC 2014! Please help

  • Two Photoshop CC on the updater. Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC (2014)

As the title implies. How do I open the one that say's Photoshop CC (2014)? Also, I have updated already to the current version but I don't have the Spin Blurr. Please needs assistance. Thank you.

After installing it, launch it from the application folder just like any other application.
It sounds like you've been launching Photoshop CC by mistake and not the new version.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 can't handle huge file.

I have a 60mb photoshop file that I am opening.  Photoshop CC is handling it fine.  But photoshop CC 2014 is very slow when I turn on and off layers it takes about 2 seconds for the action for this specific file and on Photoshop CC its instantaneous, I was wondering what the problem is with CC 2014, I double checked all the preferences are set same.

  • Eyedropper Tool Not Working Properly: Photoshop CC 2014

I have the very latest version of Photoshop CC 2014. But, even before updating, all of a sudden, my eyedropper tool isn't working properly. It used to be that I could pick up a color from any place on the image, no matter what layer I was on. Now, it seems that layer MUST be the active one for the eyedropper tool to pick up the color. So, what's going on?
If it means anything, I recently updated from OS X 10.8.5 to 10.9.5.

    So, what's going on?
Possibly you paid no attention to the Tool’s settings in the Options Bar.
