Photoshop CC 2014 saves corrupted jpeg files!

I just cant understand this???
Photoshop CC 2014 saves corrupted jpeg files and some other file formats. PSD and PNG works.
I have try with the latest iMac and the latest Mac Book Pro, both with Mavericks and Yosemite. Im saving to their internal hard drives. I can not open the corrupted photos on any application.

Nobody else has had problems with the files saved by Photoshop.
Are you sure you aren't just saving the wrong file extension on a different file type (i.e.: a PSD file with .jpeg on the end still isn't a JPEG file)?

After installation of latest Bridge and Photoshop version (2014.2.2) *.CR2 files will not be displayed correctly anymore, neither in preview nor in Camera Raw dialogue.
Some pictures have white squares with blue and red diagonal stripes that cover almost the complete picture.
When opening those files I have the same problem in Camera Raw dailogue and even in Photoshop eventually.
I tried to open the same same pictures on another computer with the same version of Bridge and Photoshop but the problem remains the same.
It seems like the files itselves are still ok, because if you open an explorer window the previews of the pictures are all ok. And the pictures' sizes remain the same.
I tried to clear the cache in both programs but it didn't help.
    Has anyone an idea????

First see if a reboot of your PC helps.  If not,
    Resets may be in order:
Photoshop: Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop.  If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be VERY quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your established preferences, which will lead to them all being set to defaults.
Bridge:  Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.
Outdated graphics drivers can also cause display problems. Go to your GPU maker's website and be sure you have the latest drivers for your card model.

  • Photoshop cc save corrupted psd file....

This is new, I was working on a multi layer picture last night, and after I save it and close it, I cannot open it anymore today..
Photoshop gave me warning: "could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop"
EDIT: ok i have fixed it using Gimp 2.
One of my layer corrupted for no reason, I guess photoshop didn't save it properly last night.
    Thanks godness

This forum is about the Cloud as a delivery process, not about using individual programs
If you start at the Forums Index http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says ALL FORUMS) to open the drop down list and scroll
I will GUESS that is a permissions problem... over on the Windows side, those kinds of errors are often fixed by right clicking the program icon and selecting RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR from the pop up option list... I have no idea how permissions are handled on a Mac

  • Photoshop CC 2014 wont open any files or create a new file

I can't open any files or create a new file no matter what I do. I've uninstalled Photoshop along with every Adobe application then reinstalled creative cloud and photoshop but that didn't work. I've tried moving the preferences to the desktop, didn't work. Does anyone have any answers? Even my IT guy can't figure it out. Please help. It's been like this for a few days now and I have a work assignment due...ahh!

  • Photoshop won't save as jpeg

All of a sudden my photoshop cs3 will not save a tiff (or psd or anything but jpeg) as a jpeg file. I can pull down to the jpeg, but it will not save it as a jpeg. the only way I can save it as a jpeg is to "Save for Web & Devices". But that's an extra step I really don't want to have to take.

CMD+OPT+SHIFT when you launch PS.  Reset your preferences

I edit my RAW photos in Photoschop CS3, save as jpeg then import back into iPhoto 11.  If I add text in Photoshop I can't save as jpeg but as psd.  Is there any way I can change to jpeg in iPhoto?

Yes you can. But you need to flatten it as jpeg doesn't support layers.
While the final JPEG can't have layers, it is not necessary to flatten the original Photoshop file to create a JPEG. There are two ways to make a JPEG while not losing the flexibility of preserving layers, and they both flatten on the fly while saving.
I just tried this in Photoshop CS3 myself. When I add a text layer, and choose Save, the Save As dialog box comes up and defaults to PSD as was described. But... that is just the default! Go ahead and choose JPEG from the Format pop-up menu down below the file list. JPEG is in there. So what happens to the layers? Notice when you choose JPEG, the Layers box grays out and the "As A Copy" box grays out and is checked (i.e. you cannot uncheck it). What is going on here is Photoshop will gladly make a JPEG of your layered file, but it will force the JPEG to be a copy, so as to not overwrite the original layered file. This is good, because your Photoshop file with its editable text layer is preserved, and you get a JPEG copy to put in iPhoto.
The second way is, instead of doing Save or Save As, choose File/Save for Web and Devices. This will also give you a JPEG choice, and also create an exported copy. Because this way makes files for the Web, they will be smaller than JPEGs from Save As because they will lack built-in previews (which you don't really need these days) and other extra metadata that take up space.
Either way you get a JPEG you can toss back into iPhoto.

    Only by exporting.
The Export menu in Photoshop CS3 does not have any direct choices for JPEG.

  • Can I save a JPEG file same as the original size?

I am new to Element and am a beginner. The reason I wanted to use Photoshop Element was to edit high resolution photos for photo books. All of my photos are JPEG taken by a SLR camera. Then, I learned that when I try to save changes as JPEG, the file size gets smaller and I cannot preserve the same quality. If I save them as PSD file, I may preserve the quality/file size, but the photobook creation option in Element 9 is very limited (as opposed to going to Shutterfly website directly). Shutterfly accepts JPEG files only. How can I preserve the quality of JPEG files? Even if I try to save as MAXIM quality, Element 9 reduces the file size by 30% or so. I wonder, Photoshop Element wasn't the right tool if the purpose was "printing" photos? Please advice.

Image size and resolution (pixels per inch -- ppi) are interrelated by division.  For example, keeping the original number of pixels the same, if you increase the size the resolution (ppi) will decrease.  Don't look at the file size to determine what is a "better" quality.
The thing you're concerned with is to not lose quality by saving a JPG image after each time you edit it.  Just work in a lossless format such as PNG or PSD, and only export the final result as a JPG if you have to provide a JPG to your printing service.

  • Photoshop Project PSD Saves as JPEG & Won't Open

    Hi All,
I have a project with a number of Layers in it, Photos, Graphics, Transparency Background, Lettering in Curves, etc.  I saved the project as usual yesterday and when I went to open it today, it would not open.  I created on a Win7 machine and later opened on a Mac which I do on a daily basic.  I am using Photoshop CC.  I can not recall the exact error, but it was getting an error mentioning a problem with Jpeg.  I confirmed that my file was in fact now a Jpeg file.  Research indicated that if I opened the file with the Apple Viewer and do a Save As PSD, the file would then be able to open by Photoshop and infact that did work.  However, all my layers, history, etc. are all gone and the file is now flattened which will not work for me.  I would like to know what caused this so I can avoid it next time as this has cost me a great deal of time now.
I thought as a last ditch effort, I would check my master files on my Win7 machine and they are Flattened Jpeg, no history or layers, etc.  Something happened at save time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Noel,
No, All I can figure is that I had taken a Jpeg file and used it as a starting point for my background as I was working through some issues.  I already had several Layers built up and was swapping out my background.  I know for fact that my layers and Workpaths were all in place when I did my final save and closed out for the day.  I was working with a PSD file previously, but I am suspecting that when I did my save, Photoshop CC chose to default the Background Jpeg and saved the file as Jpeg all without prompting me with any warnings or queries.  I rebuilt everything from scratch today to get the project done, but I saved the old files so I can figure out what happened so I can report a bug if possible.  I definitely do not want this to happen to me again.  I know it had nothing to do with moving the files to Mac.  The problem happened on my Win7 machine with Photoshop CC.
    Thank You,
    Senior

  • Corrupted jpeg files (which other apps read fine)

Hi, I'm running Lightroom on OS X. I imported several years of photos into it, and almost all were added to the Library just fine, but for two images (both JPEG files), Lightroom told me it can't read them because they're corrupt.
The thing is, these same images are viewable just fine in:
    - Photoshop CS
    - OS X Finder
    - OS X Preview
    - Picasa
    - Windows Explorer
    - anything else I've tried
Anyway I can find out why Lightroom thinks they're corrupt, and fix them so Lightroom can manage them?

Betty: I've retried at least 5 times, no luck. (I've seen a similar intermittent problem importing JPEG files which were not corrupt, directly from a flash card reader, and Lightroom only got about 60% of the files; I tried again and it got the rest. This problem is different though -- the files are already on my local hard drive, and no amount of retrying seems to help.)
John: Can you recommend any such tools? I'm willing to use whichever OS; I have Linux and Windows around as well. I tried a couple, but didn't turn up anything. I'm a fan of DataRescue (as a software developre, their IDA tool is really good) so I tried PhotoRescue, but it seems targetted specifically at recovering data from a corrupted flash card, and doesn't work on individual files at all.

  • Can't 'save as' jpeg file

I have a group of PSD files that my client wants to have as JPG files. I just went to do a "save as" on one of these and JPEG is not one of the types of files listed. In fact there are only eight file types listed instead of the list of dozens of types that I usually see. The file is 3600x2400 px so I tried first reducing down to 2000x1333 to see if it had to do with a size limit on the file type, but no luck.
I checked and the JPEG file type is still associated with the CS3 program (which I'm using). The "save for web and devices" option still works, and I can also open jpeg files, however I I'm not seeing it as a save as file option. This seems to have just started this morning.
I suppose I could try restarting the computer to see if there's some glitch.
    Any suggestions?   Best, David

Same happened to me and found out that it was set to 16 or 32 bits. JPEG images are 8 bits. Just go to [IMAGE] => [MODE] => 8 bits. There you go, select the JPEG...

  • Corrupted JPEG Files

Apologies, I may have chosen the wrong category.
I've been trying to find a software recommended to sort out a corruption pb with JPEG files that I have recovered following a hard drive crash.
What would the Mac community recommend to optimise my chances to read these files ?

Here's an old site that might prove interesting
    http://www.tow.com/software/jpeg-jfif_repair/
Be sure to backup the original damaged jpegs and only work on the copies.

  • Cannot save to jpeg - file gets corrupted?

First let me say, I have searched through the forum and can't find the answer to what I am looking for. That is probably because I am not really sure what my problem is.
As of yesterday I cannot save a file to jpeg (using PS7)
I have done a virus scan and all the other regular checks but nothing is showing up.
Basically this is what I am doing.
Opening a new document - adding some designs, flattening document and then saving. I choose to save it as a jpeg and everything seems to go fine until I go to open up the saved document. Then there is nothing there.
Doesn't seem to matter if it is a new file or an old file. Same problem. (Mode is set to RGB-8bit)
Sometimes if I do a save as and give the file a completely new name a pop-up comes up and says the following:
Could not save as "C:\...\test.jpeg" because that document is currently open. Save using a different name, or close the document and try again.
Of course this makes no sense since I am doing a save as and giving the file a new name.
Can anyone help me? Or point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks - 7.0.1 installed and still the same problem.
I have narrowed things down a bit.
It seems if I create a new doc 2400x3000 for example I can convert it to a jpeg no problem.
If I start with 3600x3600 I get the problem. Same steps as the above file with the only difference being the size.
Anyone have a solution for this as it seems like it is size related (note that I have created at this size before and never had this problem).
    Thanks.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 is corrupting layers while their being saved

Some large layered  files are showing layer corruption.
Anyone know what's going on. I cannot save my work now.
I use frequency shift technique to clean up metal surfaces, so blending modes are used.
Also on some layers a pink tinted layer icon is visible where layer corruption is present
    Please help!

The problem looks like it is resolved.
Yesterday morning I was importing multiple memory cards into Lightroom 5.6 and a lot of the images were damaged in a similar way as the layers in Photoshop. Also the import was terribly slow  for USB3.
As I already moved the Photoshop projects I am working on to an other drive/bus and that seemed to solve the Photoshop layers problem, I checked my system. I have multiple USB3 ports and controllers in the system,  11 drives connected to (e)Sata and 4 through USB3. Also a USB3 HUB and a separate USB3 port for reading memory cards.
    What solved my problem:
I've changed the project/workdrive  from eSata to USB3. Since then no more damaged layers in PS CC 2014.
I've changed the Card reader USB3 port to another port/controller, and that solved my LR 5.6 Import problem.
I was also experiencing system freezes/slowdowns during the day (Audioplayer froze for a few seconds and made a terrible sound)
I've recently installed a new desk and moved my system. Possibly changed the USB3 ports/controller on some devices.
Since I've change the ports no more problems occurred, sometimes the audio player freezes and makes the sound, but the frequency and time are very sporadic now.
The system is going to get a complete reinstall in the next month to get rid of any residual problems that may have accumulated in the last 3 years since it was assembled.

  • Batch rename of PSD, Save as JPEG, file gets old name

I am using PS CS3 Suite. I have done a batch rename in Bridge CS3 of a folder of PSD files. When I subsequently save one as a JPEG it gets the old file name. Why?

  • How to assign photoshop cc 2014 to open jpg files

I cannot successfully use the file association screens to select PS CC 2014 as the default program. Why will PS CC 2014 fail to assign when I pull it out of the folder?

Windows 7 registry must be set correctly for ley "Photoshop.exec" commands Open and Edit. and Control panel default Programs Associate file extensions must also be set correctly image type file extensions shoild be associated with Photoshop.
On windows you can use Regedit to check the Photoshop.exe key setting. see if open and edit are correctly set. if not fix the settings.
You can use the control panel default Programs file associations to check and set file extensions associations.
