Photoshop CC asks for serial number

Hi all,
Photoshop Creative Cloud, which I just subscribed to, is asking for a serial number. Adobe tech support told me to sign out, check connectivity issues, etc, and its not working.
I think this is probably connected to an attempt someone made once to install Photoshop on my computer.
I cannot access this site: https://lm.licenses.adobe.com/
Does anyone know how I can undo whatever this person did to my computer? It seems to have blocked communication between Photoshop and the Adobe servers. I have no idea what they did. Also, FYI, I can connect just fine with Lightroom.

Thanks for the link - I tried fixing the hosts file, but I can't see if its working.
This part:
Start an Internet browser, such as Firefox or Internet Explorer, and go tohttps://lm.licenses.adobe.com.
If you see a test successful message (see screenshots below), then you have access to the activation servers. Try activating or starting your software.
I still can't access that site, even after resetting my hosts file. Could anything else be interfering with my ability to access that site?

Had trial version of Photoshop, now bought CCloud, but photoshop still asks for serial number

I had downloaded a free trial of Photoshop, it expired, which led me to buy Creative Cloud so I could use it. Now after purchasing it, it keeps saying "trial expired" and wants a serial number, but every other app works ok without having to load a serial number. Also, have been on hold with customer service for well over 2 hours. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling/downloading Photoshop multiple times (just like the chat help suggested) yet it still asks for serial number since trial has expired to open Photoshop. Help?

I finally managed to get Customer Support on a Chat line. There is no registation for CC products but you do have to activate your download/subscription using your Adobe ID and password. That removes the request for a registration/serial number.
I am now on line and happy. Sad it takes so much sweat and frustration to get these simple things done.

I bought the Photoshop app through the Adobe website for a yearly commitment as student. I downloaded Photoshop from creative cloud, then I try to open Photoshop, it asks me to sign in, I sign in then it asks whether I want to start a Trial or License This Software. Where in the world can I get the serial(license) number from?No one has provided me with one and I never got any confirmation e-mail that supposedly has the serial number. This is really making me angry because I really need photoshop for my class because I have homework that is going to be way over due if I do not get photoshop up and running by morning. I keep trying to contact someone through a live rep but NO ONE is giving me straight answers! please anyone help!

Photoshop CS6 asks for serial number at every launch

Was wandering if anyone else had a new copy of CS6 from Amazon.com. On system start up it askes for the ser no# each day like its a trial version it says input ser no# or buy copy i put in ser No# and it runs good all day then when i start up the next day it does the same. Help

1) Every version of all Adobe software has worked like this. It was the faulty upgrade of the Windows OS to 64-bit that resulted in this behavior. I believe we still don't know why this only happened to a small number of systems, but it is most likely tied to system processor (we have seen such issues in the past) and probably something to do with the BIOS as well.
2) Not at all. As with all versions of Adobe applications, you can install the software for use on two machines. The activation process lets you lock your serial number to two different Machine ID's at a time. If you want to change machines, you can use the deactivation process to decouple your serial number from your Machine ID for use on a different computer.
2a) Yes, precisely. The Machine ID swap seems to be tied to rebooting the computer and it is generally switching back and forth between a 32-bit and a 64-bit identity. I'm not aware of how to do a local call to get this particular ID off a computer. It is tied to the actual hardware of the machine. This ID should only changed when you do some major modifications to the machine, such as swapping out the processor.
3) You can do this yourself. Just go to Help > Deactivate.
4) Again, yes. This has been used for every version of Adobe applications. However, we have made updates to the system that have taken card of this behavior. I have not heard of this issue happening with any of our subscription customers.
5) Unfortunately, this is not possible for legal reasons.
6) The Adobe Application Manager is the precursor to the Creative Cloud desktop app. They use the same core technologies, but there have been a number of updates to the make it the desktop app. They are very different in appearance. Photoshop CC asking for serial number

Hi,
I purchased Photoshop CC earlier this evening. However when launching the software I get up a window that says: "Sign in required. Please sign in with your Adobe ID."
I press the Sign in-button. That leads me to the next window where I get the choice between "License this software" or "Start trial". The title of the window is Adobe Photoshop CC Trial.
I don't have a serial number, and I don't see why I should have a trial version of Photoshop CC. I have also downloaded Bridge and Lightroom 5 (a part of the deal), they both run without problems.

Hi! I received help from the Adobe-technicians on the chat line yesterday. Seems I had to delete some information in a host file on my Mac. Anyway, things working as they should now!

Please then use your web Browser address http://www.adobe.com/ and sign in with your Adobe User ID and Password to your account the has your Subscription and use https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html capture the page which shows you have a subscription like I showed you I have.
Open Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application use the APP tab and capture that scree to show Photoshop is installed and up to date like I did. Capture that screen. Show us you have installed Photoshop and its up to date.
Open Photoshop and use menu Help it should show tha its activated because there will be a menu item Sign Out. If it is Sign In, Sign in using the account that has the subscription the one you used above to Activate Photoshop.

Photoshop CC keep asking for Serial Number. Adobe has charged my credit card 5x since June, but my Photoshop CC still doesn't work.

This is also happening to me.
I've been a subscriber for the last year and a bit.
I've moved to a new computer at home and since then I've been getting this prompt even though I'm signed in, everytime I've opened photoshop. Now the trial has expired and I'm cut off from using it.
This is total BS.
I've spent the last 2.5 hours going thru every adobe support doc they've posted. Nothing works. Two hour wait on the phone, 2.5 hour wait to chat (if I'm lucky and the window manages to stay open).
Oh hey, I can see my breach notification from here too!

Launching Photoshop CC from dock asks for serial number [was:what is this?]

What is this? I just want to use photoshop on my laptop using the same license I use for my desktop. Please help

Laptop = OSX 10.8.5
Desktop = OSX 10.8.5
Launching photoshop from dock. It asks for serial number. I enter serial number copied directly form my account with adobe.
Error says "This serial number is not valid for Adobe Photoshop CC."
I'm confused as to why Photoshop worked before on my laptop but now it does not. Did something expire? Do I need a separate serial number for a different computer (ie. my laptop). I don't understand.

I have purchased Photoshop CC but I'm still unable to download and open lightroom, it still asks for serial number?

Can any one help me being able to download LR as I've purchased photoshop and lightroom, but i'm still unable to open lightroom it keeps asking for serial number and won't open.

Uninstall the serial-number LR5, the one you have installed, now, then quit the CC Desktop application (gear/quit or right-click quit), then restart the CC Desktop application, which will rescan and see that LR is no longer installed, and will offer LR in the CC Desktop apps list with an Install button next to it, so install that version.

Cc lightroom trouble asking for serial number

I purchased the cc photography package. I was able to download and open Photoshop but unable to open lightroom. It ask for a serial number. I tried the trouble shooting tips still having trouble.

Student version Creative Cloud asks for serial number

I have paid for Creative Cloud for several months. Now when I try to open Photoshop, Illustrator or something else, it started to ask me for serial number. I've tried signing out and reinstall, but it does't help!

Has anyone seen this? I just updated the app and now I can't get in.
I don't understand.

First thing to try is delete the app. Open the Mac App Store and the status in the Purchases section should update to "Install". Click to download the full app rather than an update.
