Photoshop CC Camera Raw Update to 8.3 not working?

I run Photoshop CC which currently has camera raw 8.2 installed.
If I run the update process from the help menu, it keeps telling me that PS CC is up to date and nothing to update although a check on the camera raw plug-in still reads out to version 8.2.
Downloading the update manually also didn't work: The Adobe InstallPatcher simply ntells me that this update doesn't apply to me????????
What did I wrong or what's wrong here?
System: Win 7 Pro, 64bit
BTW: Trying to update PS CC from the cloud desktop is also a failure since it shows that the application is "up to date".
Help please, I want the camera raw 8.3 update!

Have you tried logging out of, rebooting, and logging back into the CC-Manager application?  Sometimes it takes a little kick to get CC-Manager to see what versions of things you have.
Did you download the ACR 8.3 CC updater or the ACR 8.3 CS6 updater?  Obviously the CS6 updater wouldn’t apply, unless you also have CS6 installed.
It may be that you need to uninstall PS-CC and re-install it, to reset things back to the ACR 8.0.
If you look in the ACR 8.3 CC setup.zip you’ll see two more zips that have the 64-bit and 32-bit assets, and within each of those is a large file, 1002 or 1003 or 1004, I forget, exactly, but the largest file in each, and that file is actually the Camera Raw.8bi plug-in, which you can manually rename and copy over the top of the ACR 8.2 plug-in in the 64-bit and 32-bit paths for Photoshop.
You would then need to install the DNGC 8.3 to get the updates to lens and camera profiles that corresponded to the ACR 8.3 plug-in.

  • CR2 Files Won't Open In Photoshop CS5 - Camera RAW Updates Won't Install...

I've had to take some photo editing work home from the office and I need to open some CR2 (RAW) files on Photoshop CS5. When I drag the files into the program I get a notice that my Camera RAW does not support the files.
I've tried downloading updates for Camera RAW, all the way back to 6.3 (I'm currently using 6.0), but when I go to install I keep getting the message "Some Updates Failed to Install" "Update is Not Applicapable".
The photos were shot on a Canon 5D Mark II, not that it should make much of a difference. I'm wondering what's going wrong? I'm running OS 10.5.8 at home and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

If you have CS2 the latest version should be ACR 3.7.
ACR 4.x is only for CS3. If you download the 3.7 ACR and install it correctly ( be sure to follow the instructions precisely!) you should be OK.

  • Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw Update: unable to open Nikon D5200 Raw files

I have a Nikon D5200, so I cannot view my raw files (.NEF) files in photoshop CS3 and I downloaded the Camera Raw 4.6 update, and installed it using the manual installation instructions found here: Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Camera Raw 4.6 update. After restarting photoshop and attempting to open a .NEF file, I still receive the error "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document. I have also tried previous updates (4.5 and 4.4.1) and they have also not worked. How can I fix this?

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
The D5200 is supported in Camera Raw 7.3 and later. Older versions of Camera Raw cannot read D5200 Raw files.
Raw 7.3 is only compatible with CS6, CC or CC 2014
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
So you'll never be able to open Raw D5200 files in CS3.
Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?
Choices: buy CS6 or join the Cloud.
Free alternative: download the Adobe DNG converter, convert all D5200 Raw files to DNGs then open the DNGs in CS3

Camera Raw 8.3 is not compatible with CS5 so I suspect you've actually got Camera Raw 6.7 installed.
In Photoshop, click Help (Windows) or Photoshop (Mac) > About Plug-In > Camera Raw
The Nikon Df was first supported in Camera Raw 8.3 which is only compatible with CS6 and CC.

You cannot open Df Raw files in CS5 so you'll have to convert to DNG then open the DNGs in CS5.

  • Problems with Installing Camera Raw update for PSE 10 from Apple Appstore

Hi.  Need some help, I have just bought Photoshop Elements 10 from Apple App Store directly from MAC.  I realised a few things
    1. That software directly downloads and i could not find any serial number for it
    2. That software does not include Organizer, or how do i access it.  It seems to be not the same as directly downloaded from adobe website
    3. the Camera Raw software 6.5 does not look like full featured, it has a number of missing tabs.  I tried to download the 6.6 Update and 6.5 Camera Raw Update but both could not be installed
Appreciate some help.  Thanks.  [email protected]

Chune Keat I would recommend posting your inquiry to the Photoshop Elements forum.

  • Camera Raw Update 3.3

Does anyone know why camera raw update 3.3 would not load to a Powerbook G4 (OS 10.5.8) running with the most recent version of iPhoto? Previous camera raw updates have been no problem but this patch states "Cannot Install on this Mac."

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Nothing in the download says you can't use it on a PPC system so ya got me.
What is in your Macintosh HD > Library > Updates folder?
    Download the update manually: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1072
    SafeBoot the system: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
While in SafeBoot install the update.
If it works restart again normally.
    Hope that helps.

  • I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw.  However, it will not download from the  "Update" option in CS6.

I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw  (I was told that the Camera Raw update 8.3, which is available for CS6, included this camera).  However, it will not download from the  "Update" option in CS6.  I have tried over 10 times - it just says update is not working. and I cannot find an alternate way of downloading this file. So I still can use my camera, even thought I paid to upgrade.  HELP please.

What OS do you have?  You say you have explained what you had (computer/opsys) but I honestly don't see it here.  If you had mentioned that my advice would have been different; I believe you can only upgrade as far as Camera Raw 8.3 on an older Windows system.  There is more information here (look specifically for the "Revert to 8.3 ..." titles).
Adobe Camera Raw Help | Camera Raw/DNG Converter 8.4 on Mac OS 10.6, Windows XP, and Vista
What you've done/written in your last post confuses things further, unfortunately.  Photoshop 13.1 is strictly a Creative Cloud version.  The highest you can go is Photoshop CS6 13.0.1.3 with perpetual license.
And as far as I can recall, that version can work on Windows back to XP:
    System requirements | Photoshop
I don't think you're out of luck, but you seem to be leaping into doing things without having the full story, and are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.
Here's what I suggest you try:
    1.  Remove Photoshop entirely with the Creative Suite Removal Tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    2.  Install Photoshop CS6 from your original media or from here:
    Download CS6 products
    3.  Update the application using its own Help - Updates process.  That really should get you the latest Camera Raw version that will work.  If that does not bring you a Camera Raw that works with your Nikon, use the "Revert to 8.3" instructions above.

  • How download cs5 Camera raw update and how make Photoshop the default in the Bridge "open" menu?

Two problems  which have defeated me.
First, I have a new Canon  EOS 500D  and need to download the  recent  (July  2010) CS5 Camera Raw update. However both of my computers freeze when I move from the Adobe Support web page to the Download web page.  Is this a known problem? What to do about it? I am using CS 5 on a Windows 2007 XP computer.
Second, (probably related to the first)   opening a file in Photoshop is not listed among  Bridge's  "OPEN AS" options. Also,  the "OPEN"  Default is "PAINT". How do I set Photoshop as the "OPEN"  menu  default?
Thanks for your suggestions. I am truly befuddled by these  issues.
    JackIsaac

Sounds like something is really wrong with your computer, and it isn't clear what, but if you're just having issues getting to the download link for ACR:
Here is the download page for ACR 6.1 update:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4728
Here is the download page for the CS5 12.0.1 update:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4733
If those links don't work, you can probably find the same updates on the FTP site, although some things here are more than a decade old:
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/photoshop/
See if Bridge and ACR are any happier after installing these two updates.  Make sure you run them as Administrator.
If those still don't work for you, try another browser, where Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome should all work.
    http://www.microsoft.com/ie
    http://www.firefox.com/
    http://www.google.com/chrome
There are numerous other browsers, as well, but they probably won't work if the above three don't.
Perhaps you either have a virus that you should scan for, or over-zealous internet-protection software that you could try disabling temporarily.
My favorite free virus/malware scanner is from www.MalwareBytes.com
The payfor version will automatically update itself and scan, but the free version works just as well except you have to manually update and scan.

Please Help? Having trouble opening camera raw files. Already downloaded Camera Raw update. I have a pc.

If the camera is fairly new then the version of ACR you have with CS5 won't be able to read those file. You'll need to upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop or use Lightroom 5.
Once a new version of Photoshop comes out Adobe does not support updating ACR from the older version of PS.

Getting very frustrated and wonder if any of you  clever people out there could help me. I have Elements 8 and have just bought a EOS600D, elements can't open or show a thumbnail of the raw images.
So I downloaded the trial of photoshop CS5 thinking this would solve my problem, but no, and  I can't seem to download the camera raw update to the trial version - does this seem right ?

So are you trying to locate a way to open your RAW images in Elements 8?  Assuming the latest version of Camera Raw supports your camera you can utilize the DNG converter to convert your RAW files to DMGs and then open those in Photoshop Elements.  You can find the DNG converter at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows.
