Photoshop CC can't detect graphics processor

Hi, I have an Hp pavilion desktop with a intel hd 4600. Whenever I open a psd I will get a dialog box explaining how I don't have sufficient vRAM. When I use the mouse to make brushstrokes, I can hear a squeaking coming from my computer. When I look at my performance  PS doesn't detect the graphics card, but just recently it showed up when I select: use graphics processor. However, sometimes after selecting use graphics processor the program will say it stopped working and quit.

also I am using windows 8.1

  • Photoshop CS6 no longer detects graphics driver

    Hello,
For some reason, most of the GPU features in photoshop (scrubby zoom, 3d, etc) no longer works for me. When I checked in the Preference->Performance tab, nothing shows up on the "Detected Graphics Processor" tab. I have no idea what could've caused it other than a crash, and a windows 8.1 update. It used to work just fine, and now it just won't detect the driver no matter what.
I run Windows 8.1 64bit with NVIDIA GeForce GT720M as my graphics card. I believe my resolution/other specs are not a problem, since as I've said before it used to work just fine before the crash.
I have tried updating the driver, rollbacking the driver, updating it again, tinkering with the NVIDIA control panel, reinstalling photoshop, resetting photoshop preferences, everything. Nothing changed.
When I tried running the sniffer_gpu.exe, however, I was met with this message:
Could not connect. Error code = 0x80041002
    Vendor string:         NVIDIA Corporation
    Renderer string:     GeForceGT720M/PCIe/SSE2
    Version string:        2.1.2
OpenGL version as determined by extensionator...
    OpenGL Version 2.0
    Has NPOT support: TRUE
Has Framebuffer Object Extension support: TRUE
    OpenGL ok
Does the error code has anything to do with it? I tried updating the driver multiple times and it persists, and I've also tried renaming the sniffer_gpu.exe itself
Help would be much appreciated.. I've tried everything I could find online and nothing helped. Do tell if you need more info regarding my device. Thank you.

No, I've been using win 8.1 all along and it worked fine at first. One day the OS just froze though, forcing me to do a forced reset (pressing the power button). I don't really know if that was the cause, but it's one of the only 'major' things that happened that could've possibly caused the problem. That, or a win8.1 update.
I have just tried fixing registries too, but to no avail. I tried updating nvidia to the newest version, rollbacking and updating again, but I have actually yet to reinstall nvidia. I guess I'm going to do that now...
Edit: I missed some lines on the sniffer_gpu.exe output
OpenGL ok, version 1.1 CUDA 4.2.1
    Return code: 3

  • Detected graphic processor: nothing detected

When I go to Preferences/Performance in the Detected Graphic Processor field is empty. I have a "Standars VGA Graphics Adapter".
Is that not compatible with photoshop. According to the Device Manager, the driver is updated with the latest version (if that counts anything at all).
My question is: should I purchase a new GPU? or another driver? how much is that important to be anything there? how to make it visible if it is essential?
I am a complete beginner. Thanks for your opinion in advance.

    Hi,
I notice a couple things from your system info. You don't have the latest updates; Here's more info on what fixes are provided:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2013/11/photoshop-cs6-13-0-5mac-13-0-1-2win-perpetu al-license-updates-now-available.html
Second, and more directed at the error message you're seeing, you have 2 video cards which both have older drivers. Since this is a laptop, you may be stuck with having to rely on Asus to publish any updates. Go to Asus first and see if they have updates that are newer. You might also want to check both Intel and nVidia to see if they have drivers that are compatible. Your looking for driver for the Intel HD integrated GPU and the Nvidia GeForce 310M discrete GPU.

  • Detected Graphics Processor Quadro 4000 vs ATI 5770

    Hey there,
I'm in Photoshop CC on a mac tower.  I've got a quadro 4000 installed as well as a Radeon 5770.  Just updated the latest NVIDIA drivers.  In Photoshop under detected graphics processor it's saying it sees the Radion HD 5770 OpenGL Engine.  Is there a way to see both cards? Will it make a difference?
I only noticed because my graphics processor wasn't working and I had to reinstall drivers.
    Thanks

    Run & Gunner wrote:
May I ask how are you using both cards? Do you have a monitor hooked up to each card? How do you tell your apps which card to hook up with or is it automatic?
I don't have this setup anymore as I'm using a modified GTX570 in my Mac Pro now.  It's far faster than either of the aforementioned.  But, when I had both in, I was only using the nVidia for card-specific work.  In other words: just Premiere Pro.  I had an LCD panel connected to each of the cards, and the nVidia was the primary display.  At no point did I ever stress the ATI.

  • Can you use Graphics Processor? What is your GPU?

Please answer if you can use graphics processor on Lightroom CC and which is your computer config, if possible.
    I have a Radeon HD 6870 running with windows 7 64bits and I can't use graphics processor.
    Thank you.

My Lightroom 6 installation initially wasn't using the GPU:
Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit
    DirectX version: 11.0
    GPU processor:  GeForce GTX 745
    Driver version:  335.58
    LR6:
    Graphics Processor Info:
    Check OpenGL support: Failed
    Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
    Version: 3.3.0
    Renderer: GeForce GTX 745/PCIe/SSE2
LanguageVersion: 3.30 NVIDIA via Cg compiler
I then updated the NVIDIA driver:
Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit
    DirectX version: 11.0
    GPU processor:  GeForce GTX 745
    Driver version:  350.12
After the update, LR6 reported success in finding the GPU:
    Graphics Processor Info:
    GeForce GTX 745/PCIe/SSE2
    Check OpenGL support: Passed
    Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
    Version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 350.12
    Renderer: GeForce GTX 745/PCIe/SSE2
LanguageVersion: 3.30 NVIDIA via Cg compiler

  • Can't use Graphics Processor for Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8

    Hi,
I just got a fresh upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro (not beta) but then I can't use Photoshop that well. In the Preferences > Performance, I can't tick "Use Graphics Processor". I have an ATI graphics card and yep, I've already tried upgrading/reinstalling my graphics driver, even installing old ones -- and still, this doesn't solve my problem (even in its control panel, I can't seem to see the settings of the graphics card!)
Any ideas/suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks!

What display driver have you installed?  And what is your card?
The ATI Catalyst 12.8 driver release claims to be compatible with Windows 8, though I haven't tried the combination myself yet.
Did you install Windows 8 as an upgrade or a clean install?  The latter is always preferable.
I know a secret registry incantation that will force Photoshop to use the OpenGL subsystem no matter what, and I've used that to get GPU acceleration in a test installation in a virtual machine, but rather that put that forth just yet let's find out if you've done all you can the "above board" way first.

I get the following message when I open Photoshop: Photoshop detected graphics hardware that is not officially supported...which asks me to "uncheck the use Graphics Processor...but there is no Graphics Processor to check ?????? What do I need to do? I have ignored this in the past and Photoshop seems to work OK but still I wonder why this opens every time I start Photoshop. Thanks for considering my question.:>)

As you can see use Graphics Processor is NOT checked. Now what? And a special thanks for answering me about this. :>)

  • CS6 doesn't recognize the graphic processor of my NVidia G610 board.

PSCS6 shows the Clone tool transfer images so it is using Open Gl from my NVidia g610 graphics card but in "preferences" it shows no detected graphics processor in the performance window and therefore I cannot access the Hue wheel. How can I correct this?

This alert happens everytime i open anything in photoshop and it prevents me from opening anything "Photoshop detected graphics hardware that is not officially supported. If you experience problems please uncheck the use graphics processor check-box in the performance panel of the preferences dialog" But in graphics processor settings it says no GPU options available with photoshop standard. I have photoshop standard so this clearly isn't the problem...Can anyone help?
    thank you

  • Photoshop has detected graphics hardware that is not officially supported for 3d

From what I've read I thought 512 MB or vRAM would work with 3d. It used to anyhow. I get the pop up that says it's not officially supported for 3d, and has temporarily disabled 3d functionality.
I've tried setting the prefences under graphics processor settings to Basic, Normal, and Adavanced with no luck getting the 3d to work again. It was working fine before the last update to 13.1

Anyone have any ideas, or maybe I'm missing something. Nothing like getting an update and it busting what used to work. Dang!

I can get into the 3d pref area, but not the pull down menu area at all. It's grey'd out now that I did the update.
I just find it weird that the card is on the approved list, and meets the requirments and used to work. But yeah this mac is a few years old at this point. I'm just hoping that someone at Adobe reads this and can shed some light. I'm hoping maybe there's a button I need to click on, or something cheaper then buying an entire new computer when I really don't think I need to. Photoshop has really bloated up!

I have Photoshop CS6 Extended Students and Teachers Edition.  when I go into the Filter/Oil paint and try to use Oil Paint a notice comes up "This feature requires graphics processor acceleration.  Please Check Performance Preferences and verify that "Use Graphics Processor" is enabled.  When I go into Performance Preferences I get a notice "No GPU available with Photoshop Standard.  Is there any way I can add this feature to my Photoshop either by purchasing an addition or downloading something?

Does you display adapter have a supported  GPU with at least 512MB of Vram? And do you have the latest device drivers install with Open GL support.  Use CS6 menu Help>System Info... use its copy button and paste the information in here.

I want to runa a script with and without GPU options. I made an actionto click on the Edit>Preferences>Performace>use graphics processor checkbox. But now I want to check wether the checkbox is ticked or not to determine i should use it for a with GPU run or without GPU run. I cant seem to find the prefernce/property/object name to access this selection in the photoshop scripting library. Can someone help me here?

I did not see anything in the Object Viewer for preference open GL, performance or GPU  so I do not think there is a DOM method available to retrieve or set it.  You can set it using the action manager using scriptlistener code.
