  • Photoshop Help | Contact Sheets and PDF Presentations in CS6

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/contact-sheet-pdf-presentation-cs6.html

If I understand your question you want to repeat one image 8 times in one signle page PDF. I do not know for such script that is available. What I can recommend you is to create manually layout in Photoshop and save as PDF. To automate proccess and use same layout but to replace image which is in use with some other, you can use Variables or Actions. Thats only advice I can give you at this time. Actually easiest way to automate things and replace images is to Create Smart Object then to clone it 7 times (Ctrl + J or right click > Duplicate Layer). When you have cloned Smart Objects, replacing content in one of Smart Object will reflect to all other clones. Create layout. When you want to replace existing image with some other use right click on Smart Object > Replace Contents or Layer > Smart Objects > Replace Contents.. Be aware of image (which will replace existing) size and resolution, Photoshop will also scale image which will replace existing to match existing image scaling in percentage. Read this tutorial for more explanation how Replace Contents works http://adobephotoshopsecrets.blogspot.com/2011/01/replace-contents-command-in-adobe.html

  • Type size bug

Photoshop CC (most recent update as of Jan 6, 2014)
    Operating system: Mac OX10.9.1
Problem: Type elements in my PSDs don't know what size they are! This happens one of three ways:
A text element dragged in from another document with the same resolution renders at a different size than it started as
The text size field says a text element is one size if I select the layer, but a different size if I select the individual characters
If the text element has a paragraph or character style applied (overrides cleared) it will sometimes render at another size (today's example: the style declares the some text should be 5px, but it renders at 7.79px-- overrides have been cleared)
The only reliable solution is to delete the problem text and start a new layer.
Has anyone had any of these problems? And more importantly, does anyone have a solution?

    Thanks for the reply, Dov.
In this example I was using Trade Gothic, but updating this paragraph style with a new font didn't fix the problem. (To be fair, I use Trade Gothic almost all the time so I haven't had much opportunity to really test if this problem exists with other typefaces.)
A text layer showing one text size if I select the layer, another size if I select individual characters happens fairly often and I haven't seen a relationship between the two sizes a text element says it is.
A text layer showing a different size than its paragraph style (overrides removed) is almost 2x the size it should be. (if the size is defined as 4pt, text renders as 6.23pt; 6pt renders as 9.35pt; 17pt renders as  26pt; 48pt renders as 74pt) These layers were behaving correctly before I defined the style.
In the same document, if I create a new text layer and apply the same paragraph style to it, the text renders at the correct size.
So far I've noticed the problem tends to happen only if I drag a text layer from one document to another (even if they share the same resolution) and recreating each text layer has been the only reliable solution. Just not a very efficient one.

  • Photoshop CS4 Contact Sheet Layouts

  • How can I change the background color of a contact sheet?

I'm making my contact sheet just fine but it's on a white background, and I'd like to change it to a darker gray. This functionality existed in an earlier version of Bridge but I'm not seeing it now that contact sheet is now in Photoshop. Any ideas? Thanks!

This functionality existed in an earlier version of Bridge but I'm not seeing it now that contact sheet is now in Photoshop.
    Say what?
Anyway in Photoshop’s Contact Sheet II just don’t check "Flatten All Layers" and you can then add the intended background to the resulting files.

  • Adusting a Contact Sheet???

    Hi,
I am trying to create a very large contact sheet with 512 columns of images. Is it possible to adjust the contact sheet script to allow me to have 512 columns rather than the maximum 100?? Or is there any other ways this could be achieved?
Any help would be much appreciated!

If you're talking about the Contact Sheet that is built into Photoshop, I don't believe that is a script, so I doubt that can be changed. If you have a separate Contact Sheet script that someone has written, then you should be able to do it, depending on the complexity of the script.
What OS are you using? There might be better tools for this than Photoshop's Contact Sheet. If you're on a Mac, then GraphicConverter should allow you to enter that many columns. Plus it has a lot more features and options available for making contact sheets.

  • Preserving transparency using Contact Sheet II or similar

Hoping someone can help with this.
We currently print using a flat bed ink jet printer CMYK++(fixative) capable of printing several images at one time.
We create the file using PS then use bridge and contact sheet II to create the print ready document.
The issue is that contact sheet II makes you select a colour for the background of the document.
If we choee white when we export as a PDF the printer interprets the white area as "coloured pixels" and prints our fixative ink over the entire background rather than under the pixel of the image.
I need to be able to use a contact sheet type solution but be able to preservice the background transparency to stop this from happening.
    Any suggestion?

Contact Sheet II runs just like an action, so even though the end result is a flattened image, there are still history steps in that image. The last step should be that flattening. So if you open the History panel directly after creating a contact sheet, you should be able to undo the flatten. Then you can simply delete the backgroung layer (which is filled with the color of your choice). Then you can print, the areas around your thumbnails will remain transparent. Do not re-flatten the image after deleting the background layer as this will create a new background layer, and no transparent pixels are allowed in the background layer.

  • Contact Sheet - indd files

How about being able to create contact sheets that include indd files! Creating contact sheets for job folders is kind of pointless for us since it won't do indd files, hmmmm.... InDesign can't make a thumbnail from its own files? This capability would be sweet.
    Thanks!

  • Creating pdf contact sheets at screen resolution using aperture/photoshop

Can anyone advise me on how to create a pdf document of contact sheets- low resolution [72 screen res]that is less time consuming than the present work flow described below?
At present I export jpegs 450pxl 72dpi from aperture. create contact sheets in photoshop and then
create a pdf in photoshop. Average number of images per client is approx 800-1000,
The pdf I have created with aperture has a resolutuin of 300dpi- which is a large file to email etc. I have tried reimporting the 450pxl jpegs but aperture still creates the document at 300dpi.
    Is it possible ...
1/. to solely use aperture to create low res pdf's
2/. If not is it possible to create an action in photoshop [or use automator] to speed up the process described above?
I do have a little experience using actions in photoshop but am by no means an experienced user.

Awesome! I didnt even know aperture could do that
Now another quick question on this topic, if im using RAW files, does aperture need to convert the file to jpeg or tiff (like it does if you export version as jpeg)?
If it does, that may be a problem as it takes forever for aperture on my macbook to convert raws and save as jpegs, like a good minute or two per photo, and if i have 200odd photos....not good, people will crack it waiting and leave.
Or does it print as raw? Cause im pretty sure my printer (or any printer) can not print raw files. Will try it tonight on my printer but a heads up will be useful.
I could just shoot in hi-res jpeg, but id rather shoot raw incase they want a large poster size print etc.
    Thanks.

  • Creating specific image sizes on contact sheets

I need to be able to create specific images size on contact sheets 1.75"x 2.25" on 24"w x ??"L paper. Anyone know how to do this?

A script like my Paste Image roll. Paste Image Roll Script and Picture Package Support
    http://www.mouseprints.net/old/dpr/PasteImageRoll.jsx
    From my Photo Collage Toolkit
Photoshop scripting is powerful and I believe this package demonstrates this A video showing a 5 image collage PSD template  being populates with images:
The package includes four simple rules to follow when making Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.
Size the photo collage templates for the print size you want - width, height and print DPI resolution.
Photo collage templates must have a Photoshop background layer. The contents of this layer can be anything.
Photo collage templates must have alpha channels named "Image 1", "Image 2", ... "Image n".
Photo collage templates layers above the background layers must provide transparent areas to let the images that will be placed below them show through.
There are twelve scripts in this package they provide the following functions:
TestCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to test a Photo Collage Template while you are making it with Photoshop.
CollageTemplateBuilder.jsx - Can build Templates compatible with this toolkit's scripts.
LayerToAlphaChan.jsx - Used to convert a Prototype Image Layer stack into a template document.
InteractivePopulateCollage.jsx - Used to interactively populate Any Photo Collage template. Offers most user control inserting pictures and text.
ReplaceCollageImage.jsx - use to replace a populated collage image Smart Object layer with an other image correctly resized and positioned.
ChangeTextSize.jsx - This script can be used to change Image stamps text size when the size used by the populating did not work well.
PopulateCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to Automatically populate a Photo Collage template and leave the populated copy open in Photoshop.
BatchOneImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Collage templates that only have one image inserted. The Collage or Image may be stamped with text.
BatchMultiImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with images in a source image folder. Easier to use than the interactive script. Saved collages can be tweaked.
BatchPicturePackage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with an image in a source image folder
PasteImageRoll.jsx - Paste Images into a document to be print on roll paper.
PCTpreferences.jsx - Edit This File to Customize Collage Populating scripts default setting and add your own Layer styles.
