Photoshop CC Crop tool moves paths
Yet another issue I've found with Photoshop CC:
When using the crop tool, it moves paths after confirming the crop. (crop from the left, paths are moved to the right).
I'm on OSX 10.7, PS 14.0 x64
See images for further explanation.
It sounds like you're running into a known bug with Photoshop CC where if you have multiple subpaths on a single layer (or path), only the selected ones will be affected when you crop, resize, or rotate the image.
The workaround for now is to make sure you select all the paths in the image before you resize, crop, or rotate. The easiest way to do this is to drag over the entire image with the Path Selection tool. (Note that if you have any paths not attached to layers, you'll need to select all of them in the Paths panel before dragging with the selection tool.)
Let me know if this isn't the same issue you're seeing.

Photoshop (cc) crop tool overly sharpens image after crop??
I have just noticed something really interesting and quite annoying about the photoshop cc crop tool.
It seems to slightly over sharpen an image after cropping. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable this?
I did the same crop with the same image in CS4 and looks fine. It's pretty nasty and makes images look very digital.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Thanks, DanThis might have to do with a change that was made to the default resizing technique in Photoshop between CS4 and now.
Try this: Open the Preferences dialog box, and in the General panel, change Image Interpolation to "Bicubic (best for smooth gradients)". Then run the same preset.
If that change makes a Crop tool resize work like it did in CS4, then the reason you saw a change is because in more recent versions of Photoshop the default technique for resampling was changed to "Bicubic Automatic" which tries to pick the right algorithm based on whether you're resampling up or down. It applies to resizing in general (for example, transformations), and you're seeing it because a crop resulted in resampling.
You can test various settings there to see which one is best for your work. -
Photoshop CS6 cropping tools is not good
Hi!
Everyone who is using Adobe Photoshop CS6 product, the cropping tool is not good as when I try to crop the image moves but not the cropping tool which makes confusing and time consuming.
When I have to print an emergency photo I have to do it within 5 minutes but that cropping tool always makes me confused. Thats why I didn't like photoshop CS6. Currently I am using CS5 product. The next crop tool works better but when I try to move it, image will go misleading.
My question is how you are managing it???
ThnxIf you ask nicely, the development engineers might provide a single button that toggles back to 'Luddite' mode. I am not being smug, because I had a wee hissy fit when I first encountered the new Crop tool in the CS6 beta, but I versy soon changed my mind and love it to bits now. Give them a proper try out and see if you can get used to the new tools.

Photoshop CS4 Crop Tool in Option field
Is there a bug using the crop tool in Photoshop CS4 (11.02) and enter values in the fields in the Option field.
Enter values for Width, Height and Resolution is OK, but if i go back to change the value in one of the fields, everything in all fields disappears if i press delete standing in on of the fields.
This must be a bug in CS4.
Do anyone knowing anything about this?I'm going to go out on a limb and make some guesses as to what happened:
Some time during the development of CS4, someone likely got the idea that the [Clear] button and the Delete key should be the same thing, to save some time for the people who are keyboard oriented and want to quickly clear out all the fields. And so they redesigned the UI slightly to do that.
Then people like you, after actually using CS4, complained that they didn't like the Delete clearing all the fields, and Adobe told the engineers then working on CS5 to rethink that design yet again. But they never considered releasing it as an update for CS4 because it was actually behaving as designed. This avoided the risk that a change might break something unexpected also.
Companies are typically very resistant to do application redesign then release the change as an update. That's just not how the software world works. Mostly the updates are just for bug fixes, and only the most severe. The latest example of this is Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1. You wouldn't know it was any different whatsoever from the pre-SP1 software, even though there were clear design flaws in the user interface.
And of course they want you to have that all-important incentive to buy the next new version when it comes out. I'm sure they even responded, "thank you for helping us to make our product better."

cropping tool is suddenly missing from photoshop cc
Are the rest of the tools in that group gone as well, i.e. Perspective crop, Slice, etc?

Minor Frustration with new crop tool movement
Crop Tool
Currently the new crop tool method feels very unnatural to me in movement. Is there any way we could get an option to maybe invert the x and y movement. Preferably one option for the x and a seperate for the y. I kind of like the way it works but in it's current form I am likely to just revert it to the old style.Stay with it, and I think you'll prefer the way it works now. I grumbled about it on day one, but feel distictly embarrassed about doing so now, because it is way better now. Check out this video, and see if that changes your mind

Photoshop CS3 Crop Tool Doesn't Work
Does everyone's crop tool work correctly in PS CS3? Mine doesn't and I wasn't sure if this is a flaw in the software.
NDI just ran into a crop problem, too. I've been using the demo CS3 for about 25 days with no serious problems, on a Macbook Pro. I have a file with 2 layers (background and background copy). I tried to crop the image, with the background copy layer highlighted. When I do, the whole screen goes black (as if I have cropped the whole image into nothingness). The tiny thumbnails on the layers don't show an image, but two squares (2 halves of the thumbnail) of faded colors. I opened a completely different image, and tried cropping that, and I get the same result! I double checked and I am not cropping to any weird size or resolution. This seems like a big bug, if it is a bug!

Photoshop perspective crop tool not working
I have photoshop CS6 and used to use the perspective crop too all the time, and it worked just fine. Occasionally I would get weird results but if I just redid it, it would work properly.
lately, it give weird results ALL THE TIME. My only workaround has been to take the result into genuine fractals and redo the image dimensions. The best way to describe what is happening is that while applying the correction, the program inverts the image dimensions so that a horizontal image becomes a vertical image, all squished from side to side and elongated from top to bottom.
Is there a way to 'reset' the tool, or uninstall the tool and reinstall it? Or some way to correct this problem? I don't want to have to reinstall the entire program because of all the plugins and custom stuff I have.Yes, there is. Go to the Options bar, right-click on its' icon. Select "Reset Tool"

Photoshop CS6 Pen tool ( Clipping Path )
Hello all what is new feature adding photoshop CS6 for Pen tool anybody know ?
There are many ways to mask and many ways to create mask. When something you want to mask has a well defined shape it edges are made of straight and curved line segments then the pen tool is the best tool for selecting that object. Masking is all about making good selections. You would not use the pen tool to select/isolate a person with hair that is flowing in the wind. I do not know if anything new was added to the pen tool in CS6. You can look up what was added to photoshop in each release on the web adobe and other sites have that information available.

Crop tool and Snow Leopard?
Have installed Snow Leopard and now the Photoshop CS3 crop tool doesn't do what it should. It used to move the bottom right corner of a dotted rectangle but now it drifts away from the rectangle altogether and I cannot define the area to be cropped. Can anyone please help?
Hi everybody. Only minutes later I discovered that I could "reset tool" and, having done that, all is back to normal. Sorry for not realising that earlier.

PS CS6 issue with crop tool: graphic glitches
I am using Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2 and I'm experiencing an issue with the crop tool. Whenever I use the crop tool, move the frame around and then zoom in on the image, the image becomes noisy, pixelated or has other 'graphic glitches'. I changed the PS preferences to not use the GPU and then rebooted the computer. Still the same issue without the GPU.
Running on Mac OS 10.8.3, iMac 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6970M.
Is there another workaround to use this tool until it might get fixed? Thank you.I've seen the same issue from time to time on windows 13.01.1 usually only on rather large pixel dimension documents.
Does it make a difference if you flatten the image before using the crop tool?
Also, using the classic mode for the crop tool doesn't seem to have that glitch. -
Crop tool won't drag with CC Photoshop 2014
I have searched everywhere and talked with Adobe support through chat (they ended that abruptly??!), and Twitter and still have not had any resolution to this. I hope someone can help.
I'm trying to do a simple crop. I've done it a million times with no problems BEFORE CC 2014.
I select the crop tool and try to drag but it always stops immediately and selects the entire image as the Crop Preview.
I've tried:
using "Classic Mode"
different Ratios/Resolutions
uninstalling/re-installing
installing the latest update - but that always fails. - I'll even completely uninstall, then when it goes to re-install it will install the one file (after a million attempts at failing to download it) and then fail on an update that it tries to install. I've tried at least 20 times. AT LEAST!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Could it be my NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS? (I know that's not the reason for the failed downloads from Adobe servers - that's all on them.)

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEI have spent a week trying to get this to work and now it just started working for all images. I have NO idea why.
Here's what I did:
1. uninstalled NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS drivers and reinstalled them
2. uninstalled CC Photoshop 2014 (2x)
3. clean install of CC Photoshop 2014 (2x)
4. installed update (took dozens of tries before this actually downloaded and installed successfully unfortunately)
5. clicked on the crop tool and tried to drag... nothing happened
6. waited, waited and waited.. went about my other work and forgot about it and then after about 5 minutes the crop box appeared. I was able to adjust it too.
No idea but I'm happy now. -
Using the new Crop tool | Learn Photoshop CS6 | Adobe TV
Cropping is one of the most common operations in Photoshop. So it's only fitting that the Crop tool has experienced a quantum leap in CS6. In this movie, watch how to preview the angle of your image to confirm that your crop is plumb. You can revisit a crop any time you like, so you never waste effort. And by default, the Crop tool hides pixels instead of permanently deleting them.
http://adobe.ly/Jo38ykI just installed the new PhotoShop CS6 on my iMac - I am used to it on Windows PC. Now, when I crop, it does not resize the image to my 640x320 px (it keeps the original size)

Photoshop CS5 64 bit tools window, why Crop tool disappeared from tools window?
I am using the above version of Photoshop in windows 7 64 bit. A few week ago the crop tool just disappeared from the Tools window. The crop tool is just below move tool and just above the rectangular marquis tool. I have been using various versions of photoshop for over 15 years and have never had a tool disappear from the preset tools window. Does anyone have any idea how to restore the crop tool to it's original location? I have tried the help file, and I guess I don't know how to phrase the question properly to get any useful answers. Also, is there any way to add additional tools to the tools window? This windows installation is on a computer that is usually not conected to the internet for security reasons. If anyone has a solution, an email to [email protected] would really be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff Warren1983I suspect the crop tool is not missing but just not selected. In cs4/cs5 the crop tool is grouped with the slice tools in the toolbox, much
like older versions such as ps4 had the crop tool grouped with the marquee selection tools in the toolbox.
Location of all the tools in the cs5 toolbox:

I don't think you can add any tools that aren't already there, but you can use configurator to make your own panel having
the tools arranged the way you see fit.

Crop Tool Missing From Photoshop CS6 Toolbar
I am trying to use the crop tool but it appears to be missing from the toolbar on the left. I have Photoshop CS6 and I simply can't work out how to find the tool. Can someone help me out please?
Is it hidden behind the Slice tool? Any tools with a little triangle in the bottom right corner, have move tools behind them.
You could use the keyboard short cut 'c', but if the Crop tool is hidden, keep pressing Shift c until you see it.
