Photoshop CC for PC - ctrl-alt-arrow key Does Nothing

I installed Photoshop CC on a new PC, and the ctrl-alt-arrow keystroke does nothing. It used to shrink the marquee around pixels and move the selection by 1 pixel. Now it does nothing. Using shift-ctrl-alt-arrow shrinks the marquee around pixels and moves the selection by 10 pixels, which is what it's supposed to do. Any help is appreciated.

I'm re-reading your posts, and I'm guessing you started having this problem when you installed on the new PC.
What I'm thinking is that unchecking the hotkeys is not enough, the hotkey utility may be still be "trapping" the ctrl-alt-arrow keystroke.
I decided to check this for myself. First I open the task manager in Windows 7. and saw a process called "igfxHK.exe" I ended that process and started Photoshop and then tried ctrl-alt-arrow and to my surprise, that does work. igfxHK = Intel Graphics HotKey.
Now the next trick is to block it from loading in the first place. I guess you could try to move or rename it. I don't want to ask you to adjust entries in the Registry yet. I have to go in a few minutes.

Ctrl-Alt-CapsLock key remapping not honored

I have the Ctrl-Alt-CapsLock keys remapped on my Win XP system (using
MS PowerToys), but Illustrator (14.0) insists on using the original
positions of these keys. Anybody know how can I make Illustrator use

As a bi-platform user of Adobe software, I know exactly why you'd want to interchange the positions of the left Alt and Ctrl keys.
Unfortunately, when you use post-driver software (that works by intercepting keyboard interrupts), you put yourself at the mercy of "rogue" programmers -- such as those apparently hired by the Adobe Illustrator engineering department -- who have their own peculiar ideas about how things like this should work.
My solution might sound radical (and it's not cheap), but it works: Buy a keyboard that enables remapping at the firmware level. An example would be the Avant keyboards -- the descendants of the Northgate OmniKey series -- that not only give you key remapping but also some rudimentary macro programming capabilities. They even come with extra keycaps and a keycap removal tool so that you can, for example, keep the labeling correct on your remapped Ctrl and Alt keys. They use Alps mechanical rather than membrane-type key switches, which is great for someone like me (who does a fair amount of writing and loved the original IBM keyboards)... but I do understand that is a matter of personal preference.
As an added bonus, your key remaps and macros travel with the keyboard. Plug it into another computer, and all of your customizations are right there, ready to go.

Always Script Editor ... Alt Gr key does not work

You might try this:
Remove any USB device except mouse/keyboard
Perform a PRAM-reset (hold ALT-CMD-P-R until you've heard the starting chime 3 times)

MacBook Pro up arrow key does not work how to fix it?

When I am just working on the computer the up arrow key does not work at all but when I use bootcamp to go to the PC side the arrow works so i know its not a phisical problem, i have tryed everything i know and still no success.

I would be concerned too the up arrow key on my keyboard was not working. I found an article that can assist with further isolating and troubleshooting issues with the built in keyboard. After loading the disc I open it, click install.app and nothing happens. Could my MacBook Pro, which has 106GB available, be too old?

Alt-arrow key to copy in CS2?

It's been a while since I've been able to use Illustrator, and now I have gone from Illustrator 10 to CS2. One feature I used to use all the time was to make copies of paths or objects by clicking alt and an arrow key at the same time.
From what I'm finding in online searching, that *should* work in CS2, but for some reason it's not.
I'm trying to alt-arrow on a grid, snapping to grid and right now I'm just working with a very basic straight line.
I've tried turning off snap to grid, tried adjusting the size of the default keyboard "nudge" increment, checked the keyboard, searched the keyboard shortcuts, and even tried returning the keyboard shortcuts to default.
Was this feature removed in CS2, or is there something I'm missing?

Agrred, that's not a feasible alternative. It is strange, though. I'd definitely have a look at the keyboard shortcurt prefs and just to be on teh safe side reset them. As a workaround, have you considered creating a pattern and then using that?

Flash and Alt+arrow key

1. Go to Youtube
2. Play a video
3. Open in fullscreen with mouse
4. Close fullscreen with mouse
5. open again fullscreen with mouse
6. Close fullscreen again with mouse
7. Press alt+left to go back (nothing happens. the focus seems to stay on the fullscreen flash maybe?)
8. Click outside of the flash and on an ampty space on the web page. Press space.
9. Now alt+left works for some reason.
This problem because also affects my mouse. I have configured my mouse to make a web browser, file explorer or any other application navigate back or forward when i tilt my scrolling wheel left or right. This is a very big comfort for me because I don't have to have my one hand on backspace to navigate, or move my mouse onto the back button. And since Firefox takes away this huge comfort, it is very (very very ...) annoying problem.
There is another weird thing but it is not a big problem.
When a text box is focused in Firefox, every time I tilt my mouse wheel to navigate back or forward, a symbol appears inside the text box, before Firefox goes back or forward.

Still the main problem is with Alt+arrow navigation.
Another unrelated thing that i find a little annoying about Firefox is that when I scroll left or right with my touchpad, then instead of scrolling left or right, Firefox acts like I am repeatedly pressing the left or right key. It would be nice if it would just scroll left or right.

Some of the shortcut keys and directional keys on the keyboard are not working in FF 4 RC1 (i.e. Tab, Ctrl+C, arrow keys). They work fin in FF 3.6x and other applications.

Crtl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+X, Tab, and arrow keys do not work at all in FF4.0b13 and later. I am not sure about earlier versions as this is the first version I have tried.

All the following functions/settings are disabled or turned off:
Text to speech / Speak selected text when the key is pressed
Slow Keys
Mouse Keys.
The keyboard viewer just confirms my list of keys that are not working.
Starting in safe mode makes no difference; nor does booting from the Mac OS X Install Disc and running Terminal from the Utilities menu. The same keys as before fail to work.
This seems to confirm that it's a hardware issue. Anyone have any suggestions?

Why is there no support for up and down arrow keys when scrolling through presets in adobe raw

seems like it would be common sense to support such a basic function, especially when having to scroll through about 100+ different presets(VSCO Film). We need support for arrow keys so that it may be easier to compare colors much more quickly. Also the support for comparing 2 of the same images would be even more awesome, RAW image on left, and Presets on the right, or compare different presets to one another.

You can submit it as a feature rquest, then forget about and go back to your life.

Bootcamp perfect - now need ctrl-alt-del key map

Hi Guys,
Installed bootcamp, XP SP2 on MBP works perfectly, joined local Windows domain - no worries - now on boot of course it wants the infamous cntl-alt-del key combo - I've tried just about everything but no luck.
In the end plugged in external PC usb keyboard, got in and turned off the requirement to enter ctrl-alt-del in windows as a work around.
Any ideas on how to map the MBP keyboard to work? Thanks all.

Ctrl Alt Del on Windows XP:
After installing,
1) go to Start>Run
2) Enter "remapkey" (witout quotes)
A nice GUI utility pops up to let you remap keys on your keyboard. You can use it to remap the delete key. I suggest using the Right Command key.
After saving, reboot and you'll be able to use Ctrl-Alt-(Right Command) to do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete and logon to Windows domains and other useful things.

Left arrow key does not go back one character at a time

on my key pad, I cannot backup "over" characters one space at a time I am not looking to DELETE, merly to backup one character at a time. I know I can use the function key along with the arrow key for word at a time jump. I can jump one character to the right by pushing that key but I cannot do that with my left arrow key. slight annoyance, but I swear it worked before. . .

This command no longer works in iPhoto. The photo just bounces for a moment, then all the photos begin scrolling. I used to be able to just hit the key to scroll one at a time.

What version of iPhoto and system are you running? What mode are you in, edit, full view, full screen, ???

Iphoto not loading, option key does nothing

I read some of the other post but none has really helped. I am a Mac G4 and had to do a reinstall and now iPhoto will not load. I tried to hold the option key but nothing happens. My iPhoto Liberty is on a external hard drive. I am guessing this is causing the problem. Anything? I am on Tiger 10.4.11

Sounds like your Library is corrupt.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
