Photoshop cc generate assets doesn't resize all images correctly

I have a stack of images, and I'm using Photoshop CC's new generate assets to produce two versions of each. One at current size (retina), one at half size (normal). Each layer I'm exporting has this naming format "[email protected], 50%image1.jpg".
When I generate assets, not all 50% scaled images get scaled down. Some that should be half the size are the same dimensions as the retina version. Other images scaled down by 50% are correctly resized. It seems to be random.
I have tried variations of scaling, 25%, 200%, renaming the layers, turning generate assets off then on, re-opening the psd, restarting photoshop. None of these seems to make a difference.
Anyone else experienced this, or have a solution?

  • Photoshop CS5 crashing my Mac when resizing large images

I don't have much to explain this further but Photoshop CS5 is crashing my Mac when I resize large images.  Small images are fine but large 300dpi images crashes it without warning.  Don't know what to do.  The only other similar thing is After Effects CS5 is crashing my Mac when I trim a clip.  It completely turns off my Mac when I trim a clip.
I have 8gigs of Ram and am running 27" iMac Core i5
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Hal

    Hi Wendy
Thank you for your insights. We are having the same problems here.
It's been a headache as we bought two 27" iMacs in March 2011; and we've had even BOTH iMacs exchanged.
After exchanging, same thing happened. We then got all 16GB of RAM on each iMac replaced.
But we noticed that the auto-shutdown problem happens with files on 300dpi. We are contemplating on changing them to 299dpi though haha!
Unfortunately, here in Singapore, we don't have a physical Apple store. We only have Premium Resellers.
And the other unfortunate thing is, when RAMs are upgraded these Premium Resellers sell 3rd party RAMs.
I supposed we'll have to deal with this for now until we have enough funds to replace ALL 32 RAMs to original Apple RAMs (which will cost abt another USD1600!!) ..
Hope this forum helps others as much as it finally helped me understand the issue we're having.

  • Why does ibooks author automatically resize all images of a gallery?

The point here is, I have more than one graphic files (not pictures taken by a camera) to put into one gallery widget of an iBooks Author document. Unfortunately, not all figures have the same height/width aspect ratio. If I put them together in the gallery, some of them have cropped widths others have cropped heights. Impossible to losslessly fit all into the same gallery. If I scale alle figures to the same width, the result is acceptable for the figure with the highest heigth, all other figures are cropped again.
Well in a first time, I was not that much concerned, but the iBooks Author Quality check refused to publish such eBooks, where some picutes appear cropped in the small view (not in the full-screen view).
Now, why is the iBA software automatically sizing all images of a gallery w.r.t. the center of an image? It would be of much more help, to leave some white background boarders on images of un-equal height, as long as the width of all images is exactly the same. The crop-pan function would then be useful to individually place a smaller-than-the-rest image in that frame of its larger precedecor image.
Can this autosize function be turned off? Am I really forced to paste smaller images into a white image of the maximum height/width of the galery's largest image?

If you have differently shaped (height/width) images that you want to place in one gallery....
The first image you place will determine the shape (max height and width) of your gallery mask, so choose it wisely.
Before you add each image to the gallery go to photoshop and:
    1. Size the IMAGE to be at the max height OR width of your gallery mask -- do this if you want at least one dimension (height or width) to fit all the way across or up and down in the gallery mask.
    2. Size the CANVAS to the same height and width of your first image (the size of your gallery mask).
I hope this makes sense and is helpful. Yes, it's ridiculous, but it's the only way I found to make images of different dimensions fit in a gallery.

  • Resize all images in document

    Hello,
I have long document with 300+ images. I need to re size them all to W=63,5 mm and H=53 mm. I dig the Forum and find out this script from user "Harbs." but it is for re scaling images to certain percent:
This will scale all images to 90% of their current size:
      myGraphics = app.activeDocument.allGraphics;   for (idx = 0; myGraphics.length > idx; idx++) {    if(myGraphics[idx].constructor.name!="Image"){continue}    myGraphics[idx].parent.horizontalScale = 90;    myGraphics[idx].parent.verticalScale = 90;   }
And this will scale them to an absolute 90%:
      myGraphics = app.activeDocument.allGraphics;   for (idx = 0; myGraphics.length > idx; idx++) {    if(myGraphics[idx].constructor.name!="Image"){continue}    myGraphics[idx].horizontalScale = 90;    myGraphics[idx].verticalScale = 90;    myGraphics[idx].parent.fit(FitOptions.FRAME_TO_CONTENT);   }
Anyone knows how to make it to resize the images to specific size?
    Thanks!

Setting width and height is a bit more complicated because you have to calculate the bounds (there isn't a width and height property for an image). I can't do it off the top of my head with javascript, but if you're using OSX this Applescript would resize from the upper left corner.
tell application "Adobe InDesign CC 2014"
        tell active document
            set properties of view preferences to {horizontal measurement units:millimeters, vertical measurement units:millimeters}
repeat with x in all graphics
                set {a, b, c, d} to geometric bounds of x
                set geometric bounds of x to {a, b, a + 53, b + 63.5}
                tell parent of x
                    fit given frame to content
                end tell
            end repeat
        end tell
    end tell

  • Safari 5 doesn't show all images on a webpage

    Hi,
I'm using Safari 5, and my Safari doesn't always show all the images on a webpage but shows a "blue question mark" instead of an image. sometime when I try to reload the webpage, the image (that was a blue question mark) appears but some other images become the "blue question mark".
The "Display images when the page opens" checkbox is checked, the connection has no problems…
I've tried on Safari 5 on my PC, and it doesn't have this problem, all the images loaded well. The problem seems like only appears in Safari on Mac.
    it's really annoying…
    Any idea, please.

    HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset. Relaunch Safari. Try loading a page now. If you still have problems...
Web pages include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
Relaunch Safari and try again. If that didn't help...
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.
If nothing above helps, login to another user account and try Safari there. If you have problems with pages loading correctly there, then it's a system wide problem. Hopefully not.

  • Lightroom 3.3 doesn't show all images of a folder

I have used Lightroom since version 1.0 and at the moment I am using v3.3.
Now I have following problem and I can't find a solution for it:
In the Navigator I have synchronized my complete folder where I store all of my photos. This folder contains more than 50000 photos already in many subfolders. But now I found some subfolders not showing all their content. I can see in the Navigator e.g. 216 pictures beside the folder name but in the preview I can see only 3 pictures! And I found some more folders which doesn't show their full content.
I tried to sychronize the single folder again but Lightroom says there were no new pictures and also no missing pictures to remove from the folder. If I open the folder by the Windows Explorer then I can see that all the files for the 216 pictures are there! So there must be a problem with the lightroom database!
But now I don't know what to do to get the pictures displayed in the library again.
I would appreciate any idea regarding this problem.
    Best regards,
    Jochen

LOL!  Sorry, the login details I gave you were to the public upload, which then get hidden so no one else can download your files.  I can see you're busy uploading ok, so I'll take a proper look in a bit.  No I don't need the previews, just the cataog and a few problem files is great.
Ok, when the uploads are finished then you will have my current database, a screenshot of Lightroom which show no pictures in the library (and the preview) of a folder (all filters off, tried to synchronize already,) but it shows clearly that there are 31 pictures in the folder normally.
I also uploaded some of the pictures of this folder.
In past I could see the pictures in Lightroom - I can remember that.

  • Setting Photoshop CC as the default program for all images?

Where do I find Preferences dialog?

There are two levels: The OS (Mac Finder or Windows Explorer) and Bridge.
In the case of jpegs on my Mac, I open them in Preview at the OS level.
If I want them to open in Photoshop, I open Bridge CC, and then double-click on the thumbnails there, which opens them in Photoshop.
Photoshop is usually the default editor for Bridge.

  • Photoshop Generate Assets is not Dimensioning Correctly

I'm using Photoshop's generate assets to create smaller images for the web, but specifying a dimension is not working. For example I have an image that is 3871 x 1890. I renamed the layer to 1024 x 500 image.jpg. Instead of an image the is 1024 x 500, I got an image that was 1021 x 367. Another image that was 2084 x 1255, I renamed to 500x? image.jpg and got an image that was 268 x 162.

  • Photoshop Help | Generate image assets from layers | Photoshop CC

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/generate-assets-layers.html

Adding a margin feature would be awesome.
    eg: logo.jpg+10px
The end result would be the image with 10px of extra white-space on each side.
    More awesome would be "logo.jpg+10px5px10px5px"
So you could define the extra space for each side following the css standard, top right bottom left.
This could come in handy if you want to generate buttons for let's say an iOS app. Imagine you have a tiny help button that is 20x20px, if you import this the standard hit state will be small (the 20x20), but if you add an extra whitespace margin the hitstate will be much bigger than the icon itself, making it more user friendly to tap on the button.
    Please consider this feature. Thanks!

  • Photoshop CC - Generate command is always grayed out

    Hi,
generate in the file menu is allways greyed. Means, it is not availlable.
    Knows anybody whats happend
    THX,
    Mischu

I didn't found any hint about that in the web.
I googled and came across this little gem buried deep in an Adobe Help article.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/generate-assets-layers.html
"Disable image asset generation for all documents
You can disable image asset generation globally for all Photoshop documents by modifying your Preferences.
    Select Edit > Preferences > Plug-Ins.
    Deselect Enable Generator.
    Click OK."
So I figured the reverse steps (to enable) would work in your case
I never knew that Preference existed until you asked this question. The things you learn.

  • Theres an opportunity to RESIZE all linked images to 100% of the frame?

Theres some third party plugins, but i dont find one which works well and support layered psd for example. i think its a basic function and it should have an native way to do that.
    thanks a lot.

That's a very old school way of achieving things - namely Quark.
In the past it was necessary to resize all images to 100% @ the desired resolution.
InDesign gives 2 resolution views in the Window>Info panel for each image.
    Actuall PPI and Effective PPI
Actual shows the actual amount of PPI - and Effective PPI shows the PPI of the image after scaling .
When you export the file to PDF you can choose the Compression of the image to any DPI you would like.
This means the same file can be used for
    Newspapers
    Brochures
    Magazines
    High-End print finishing
Each of the above have a unique LPI - which determines the optimum resoultion.
This way you don't end up with 4 different files for the same job.
Or worse - 16 incarations of the same image at different sizes for different outputs.

  • Using Photoshops record command to resize all of my photos for FCP

    Hello Everyone,
I have over 200 pictures for a montage I am doing for a client. I have scanned them and now want to use Photoshop to resize the images so they are all the same size. Then I will import them into FCP. I know Photoshop has a record action but I'm not sure how I can automatically have it do all 200+ pictures. I have looked at the Automator but apparantly it doesn't work with Photoshop.
From what I have read in the posts I do not want to go over 1440 x 960 pixels. I will animate them in FCP.
I have done a search but could not find exactly what I would like to do.
Thanks for any information. I'll owe ya a coffee or a beer, your choice!
    Thanks,
    Ymir

It's not hard to do it with Photoshop. I'll assume you're familiar with the process of recording "Actions" in PS. If not - the PS manual will get you down that road.
First off - I'd make a backup copy of all your images that you're going to process - for safe-keeping. You never know....Then I'd make a "Destination Folder" where your tweaked images will finall reside. Start recording your Photoshop Action. Conclude it with a "Save As" with the destination being the Destinatin Folder that you just created. Stop recording the Action.
Now in PS go to File > Automate > Batch. A pop-up window will appear. Set the "Play" section at the top to point to the action you just recorded. For the "Source" area select "Folder" and "Choose" the folder of pics you want to alter. In the "Destination" area select "Folder" and point this to the Destination Folder where you want your edited images to end up. Click "OK" and off she runs.
NOTE: First off I'd run this on a small test batch: 5/6 images to make sure it's going to work like you hope. Then I'd run it on all 200 images.
    Good Luck. And I choose a beer ! : )

  • Photoshop CC is dramatically slow when resizing or drawing.

    Hello everyone.
Please assist me in finding out a bottleneck:
    OS: Windows 7 x64 Professional
    Photoshop CC, not 2014.
    Hardware configuration:
    MotherBoard- Asus P8Z77-V LX LGA
    CPU - Intel Core i7 2700K + Zalman CNPS10X EXTREME
    Video Card- Asus GTX660-DC2OCPH-2GD5, 2GB, GDDR5

    HDD:
    4xSeagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 - 2Tb - RAID 5 - for Data storage, OS TEMP directory.

1xWestern Digital 2Tb for other stuff + OS page file. 1.2Tb free.
    SSD: OCZ Agility 3, 90Gb - OS + Photoshop installed. 30Gb free
    PSU: HIPRO HPP600W-80Plus
    Tablet: Wacom Intuos Pro M.
    Photoshop preferences:
    History levels - 15
    Cache levels - 8
    Cache tile size - 1024Kb
Photoshop can use up to 70% memory.
GPU Acceleration - tried both "off" and "basic"
Previews for layers are set to "Minimum".
My main photoshop usage is in editing photos - 5760x3840 pixels.
When I create a document with 5760x3840 pixels and add several layers with editing, curves, masks and so on I try to resize the image. Photoshop starts lagging. Same effect happens when I create a mask with a simple brush. As example - I draw a 1cm line on my tablet, and then PS does the same with an about 10 seconds delay.
Any help would be appreciated. I had no same issues with CS6.

    1.  You probably have a specific problem with drivers that's causing your tablet operations to be very inefficient.  I would look into getting new Wacom drivers to start with.  Focus first on why your powerful system is running poorly with the tablet.  Determine whether a mouse works better than the tablet, to ensure you've isolated where the problem is.
Then, after working that out, if performance is still troublesome to you...
    2.  I would suggest that, assuming you have the budget, you relegate ALL your spinning hard drives to be backup or low access storage drives.  Do NOTHING with them for normal, everyday use.  See item 3 below for that.
    3.  Get 2 TB of SSD storage in the form of four 512 GB SSDs, put them in a RAID 0 array - not RAID 5.  Make that drive C: and install Windows, all apps, your working data, scratch, swap, etc.  Don't worry about reliability - get good ones, pro models.  They have high MTBF, and even with 4 SSDs you will not be taking nearly as big a chance of failure as with a single HDD.  Re-evaluate whether the RAID controller you're using is a good match for high throughput SSD storage and get a good one if not.
    4.  Institute a thorough backup regimen.  That sounds a bit scary, but it really boils down to setting your system up to do system regular system image backups to your HDD storage (or an offline USB drive).  RAID 5 wastes resources in an ongoing way in anticipation of failure.  Backup prepares you for any eventuality, and RAID 0 uses the resources efficiently - especially SSDs.
    5.  You have 32 GB of RAM, which is sufficient, but make sure you've done whatever is needed to ensure your system maximizes its efficiency in accessing that RAM.  I'm not familiar with that ASUS motherboard, so I don't know what it can do, but sometimes you can dig and find info on optimum configurations where when the right things match, the system switches into a higher mode with more channels, etc.  I know my workstation does special things when the RAM all matches.
I've personally done all the above, save for the tablet diagnosis as I don't have a tablet.  There is NOTHING that will wake up a system - every aspect - like having a high throughput I/O subsystem.  You'll wonder how you ever could stand using HDDs.

    Hi,
I regret to say that the image size is a known bug with the Report Generator. There is currently no workaround for this issue. The image size cannot be greater than a 1 margin on both sides. I hope youll be able to work around this. The issue will be fixed in a future version of LV.
