Photoshop CC icons and text are too small: how to adjust so they're readable? [was: Joanne]

I have just downloaded Creative Cloud on a new computer.  The new photoshop icons and text are too small for me to see or work with.  I cannot seem to adjust this so its "useable"

Hey Bob,
Ive put feature requests for this in before and I know many others have as well. Is there any way to see if Adobe is actually working on this? I dont really consider this a feature request, it should be standard with the software. A feature request would be something like creative cloud libraries, not the ability to make font sizes and icons bigger.

  • Using Adobe Photoshop CS 5.5. Menu and text are too small on my 4k Display.

I am running Adobe Photoshop CS 5.5 on my windows 8.1 laptop with 4K display. Where is the option to increase the size of menu and font? The menu looks fine on my mac book pro retina display at work, so I know it has to be possible. Please help.

You can go to Edit>Preferences>Interface>UI Font size and increase the font size a little.  Whether that will make any difference on a 4K display I don't know.  CC 2014 has an option ("Experimental") to increase the UI size by 200% for high density displays.  Sorry - not much help.

  • No cursor on any website, and boxes are too small to type username and password. Example I can't type username and password for yahoo e-mail

Example of no cursor. Any website, such as youtube, there is no cursor in the box, and there are no letters when I type, but the system recognizes what I type. As for e-mail, hotmail works o.k., but with yahoo the boxes for username and password are too small, there is no cursor and I can't type anything. With gmail, there is no cursor, but I can type my username and password.

When i import my AutoCad PDF into photoshop my lines and text become blurry. How do i fix this?
Is it resizing as I import it  or maybe a printer thing?

It is rasterizing the PDF at the resolution you tell it to, unless it's an image only PDF - then the image will be opened as-is.

Icons on cs6 are too small

If your using a high resolution PC tablet or Laptop you can use a low resolution external display.  CS6 UI was designed for displays with a 96 DPI resolution.

  • Icons in photoshop and illustrator are too small to work

I have a samsung ativ book with high screen resolution (3200x1800). when I want to work with ps or ai their icons become extremly small. (the icons in indesign have a good size!) is there a possiblity to scale the icons up? I already turned up the screen resolution - but strangly that didn't change the size of the icons. what can I do? and why is there a differnce between ps, illustrator and indesign?

  • Photoshop icons and menu sizes too small

How do I make CS5 Photoshop in Windows 8 useable?  I cannot make the menu font and icons (like cropping tool) large enough to read and use.  I had our IT people fix the desktop icons (resolution, etc), but there appears to be no way to make Photoshop menues larger.  Even when I open Photoshop the start up blue icon is small.  It is like some miniture program!

You have to live with it. Only PS CC will support high DPI displays in a future update.

  • How do I change the size of my icons and text

I just purchased a new iMac 21.5   The display font and text are too small to read comfortably. How do I adjust the display, icons and text?

    Hi there.
Just do a 'Right Click' on the desktop and a menu will appear.
Choose 'Show View Options' at the bottom of the list and all the options are there for you to alter as you wish.
    Cheers

I dont know any way to change it for you sorry... unless a setting in Personalise works.

  • Why icons  and text on photoshop are very small, (i checked edit preferences interface)

why icons  and text on photoshop are very small, (i checked edit>preferences>interface)

    In summary:
    1.  You have a "high dpi" screen.  The advantages to this are that things that are painted on the screen in a reasonable size will be made up of a lot of pixels, and will be very crisp and clean looking.
    2.  Photoshop has not yet embraced "high dpi" operation.  It's complex to do so, in that Adobe has to rewrite the software for all the controls on the screen to be able to use more pixels.  That's not to say it's impossible, it's actually fairly straightforward for a given control - but there are a HUGE number of controls in many, many different places in the application.
Adobe has said they're working on it, and have made some noise about Microsoft not having supplied everything they need to succeed at the full reimplementation.  But the current version does not have the ability to size itself up to be a reasonable size on your "high dpi" display.
That said, if you really, really want Photoshop to be "magnified up" to where all the controls (AND the pixels in the image you're editing) are much larger on your display, there is a workaround/hack...  It's a bit geeky and requires registry editing, and one day when Photoshop really does gain "high dpi" support you'll need to remove the hack, but here it is:

I can't vouch for its performance, but it might make it usable for you in the interim.

I've just bought a Macbook Pro 15" and I'm trying to use Photoshop, but the resolution its displaying the images at for 100% are too small. I have to design for the web, so need to be intricate with detail, but I'm finding it adjusts the resolution of the image right down. (I mean you can see the image clearly, but it's too small to edit). When I look at Safari and see a web page at 100% it's clear, but the same page displayed in Photoshop CC appears 50% of the size (even though it says it's 100%)   If I move the application window to another screen it adjusts it correctly  – leaving all the pallettes, menus and tools correctly sized as they are on the retina display   Is there some way to adjust the way Photoshop CC displays images so it is more consistent with what you actually see?   There doesn't seem to be any answer on the Adobe forum, so hopefully someone here can shed some light.  MacBook Pro with Retina display, 15", OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), Photoshop CC 2014

I tested both ways. With "open in low resolution" ckecked the size of the images is cool, but it is low-resolution including Photoshop appearance.
If "open in low resolution" is unckecked the appearance is good but the very small size.
See the image below. It has 650 x 732 px, 72 dpi. The font of the text "Neste aniversário ..." is with 18pt.

  • Why are my Illustrator CC 2014 text, icon, and panel sizes too big? It's treating me like an old person.

The photo on the left is Illustrator CC 2014 and the one on the right is Illustrator CC. As you can see the icons and text on the left are enlarged, resulting in less space for the document. I couldn't see anything in preferences about this. Does anyone know how I can fix this? None of my other CC 2014 apps did this... Is it a computer setting or a CC setting?

I don't have CC so I can't test this, but apparently since 17.1 on Windows the illustrator UI scales to 150 or 200% depending on your OS scaling settings. it might have something to do with it:
