Photoshop CC - PC Advise?

Hello,
I have Adobe Creative Cloud and use Photoshop CC. I have read the system requirements for this software so please don't post them.
My set up after recent upgrades is:
Processor: AMD FX (tm)-4300 Quad Core Processor 3.82Ghz
RAM: 8GB
System: Windows 7 64 bit
Graphics Card: Nvidia Gefore 8800 GT
I have just performed a shake reduction on a large image. Last time I did this my processor wasn't as good (don't know model just know it was inferior to this), well it was fine and it was my RAM that got choked.
I've just done a shake reduction for the first time with the new processor in and my RAM was fine but my processor was maxed out at 100% and ran slower than before.
I just can't understand it....can someone explain why this is?
Is it taking advantage of the 4 processors?
I have been told the only thing I should need to upgrade now is the graphics card as I am working towards getting this to run high end games such as Skyrim. But right now Photoshop is still struggling.

merci du renseignement et bonne fin de journée

  • I am trying to Re-install CS5 and when going to use Photoshop, I have my original Serial Number and it will not let me activate the Software on a new hard drive.

Why is Adobe making us jump so many hoops just to re-install software?
I had a hardware crash and had to re-install all my programs.   We can not activate Photoshop CS online or by phone!  What gives?
I am in the middle of a project and I can not use Photoshop CS
    Please advise.

So let me get this right..... I Pay for Creative Suite 5.   I have my original discs and serial number.  I still have the entire box it came in.   I simply need to re-install the product.   I can not use Photoshop because it can not be activated via phone or online.  I am supposed to just in a chat page and you are put in a cue with "We are still assisting other customers, thank you for your patience. You can also try ourcommunity forums, where experts are online 24/7."
IS ADOBE FOR REAL???   THEY EXPECT YOU TO SIT IN A CUE ON HOLD WITHOUT AN INDICATION HOW LONG YOU WILL BE IN CUE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WORK DAY.
NOW YOU KNOW WHY PEOPLE HACK THEIR SOFTWARE!
I HAVE A JOB TO DO AND CAN NOT TELL A CLIENT, MY PHOTOSHOP DOES NOT WORK, I AM WAITING IN ADOBE'S HELP CUE!

  • "Edit In Photoshop" command missing

I bought Lightroom and Photoshop Elements 10 last year (downloaded LR v4.3 yesterday) and sat down to learn how to use them together today (www.lynda.com Using Lightroom and Photoshop Together with Jan Kabili).
When I open LR the Photo -> Edit In -> Edit In Photoshop command is greyed out (non-functional).
I tried both solutions listed under 'Solution 3: On Mac OS' on the following help page including uninstalling and re-downloading and installing PS Elements 10 and it is still not working:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/edit-photoshop-command-missing-photoshop.html
Please advise how to make your programs work together.  Surely, with Photoshop Elements installed and running on my computer Lightroom must be able to notice it.
    Bill.

I just realised what I was doing wrong.  I installed Photoshop Elements 10 but I was launching Photoshop Elements Editor not Photoshop Elements.  I had no idea there were multiple applications!  Now that I have launched the main Photoshop Elements Application (it then brings up a dialog where you select organize or edit) the "Edit in Photoshop Elements 10" menu item has appeared as expected in Lightroom.

  • Can't use Photoshop CC after install

    Hi there
I've installed Photoshop CC 2014 from my Creative Cloud, but somethings wrong. Everytime I open the program to use it, it crashes and I get an error message saying that 'Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 stopped working, Windows is closing the program and will let me know if there is a solution'.
Every single time. Sometimes in the actual opening process and if not there, it happens when I try to open the first project.
    What to do?
    thank you in advance.

For Photoshop it is advised to work with one or two same Models of GPU:
    - Photoshop CC and CC 2014 GPU FAQ
Seeing the Combination of GPU's i guess you would be working with Sony Laptop, if that is true
    Please see the Driver Downloads:
    http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/content/cnt-dwnl/prd-comp/a2dvid_00247981_0042_5767
Are you using more than one video card?
Multiple video adapters can cause problems with GPU-accelerated or enabled features in Photoshop. It's best to connect two (or more) monitors into one video adapter. If you have to use more than one video adapter, make sure that they are the same make and model.
Otherwise, crashes and other problems can occur in Photoshop.
Note: Using more than one video adapter does not enhance Photoshop's performance.

I have photoshop cc, and I am used to photoshop elements. In photoshop it wont allow me to just click on a layer, and have it select that layer . I have to click on the layer in the box that shows all my layers in order to select it. I also want it to not only select the layer on the actual project, but put a hashed line around it that allows me to resize it manually, without having to do it in another window. Does that make sense? I cant even get the layer to select. PLEAE HELP. Id also be able to just click on the layer and drag it. It wont let me, and I am confused.

If you were serious to learn Photoshop, I'd advise you to take Photoshop classes at your nearest community college or some such institution, to take a subscription to lynda.com, to watch all the Photoshop videos at Adobe TV, to google for specific video tutorials on You Tube and for other tutorials in text format.
Even the Help menu in Photoshop can be a great starting place.
Don't expect to find in Photoshop the kind of hand-holding features that Elements has and that appeal to beginners and amateurs.

  • Vanishing Photoshop in Creative Cloud

Hi, am running a Mac Pro on OSX 10.9.2 and totally bemused by this creative cloud concept. Creative Cloud indicates that Photoshop CC has been downloaded. Have looked in Apps but all other Adobe CC products present but no Photoshop. Please advise.

    Hi wjtcastell,
Please follow the steps, Go>> Utilities>> Adobe installers>> Photoshop uninstaller will be listed there, please run it and uninstall the Photoshop.
Once uninstalled, simply open Adobe creative cloud and download Photoshop CC.

  • Why am I having a major cursor confusion problem!?

Okay here it goes: ( I am currently running CS5 Photoshop for Mac)  I have a document open that I want to edit...  I go to select the brush tool. I select it then proceed to the top left screen to adjust the size of  the brush and the type....the thing is the icon that is scrolling over the different sizes and  brushes are "scissors"---not an arrow or a hand...only scissors. I have to select the brush size  with a pair of scissors...  So I select the size then get out of that...I then proceed to go to paint on the picture I want to  edit...instead of there being a brush (or a circle), there is an eyedropper that I am painting with!!!  What in the world!? I just noticed the problem and don't know why my icons are confused. I  deleted photoshop and re installed it, but it's still doing the same thing. I made sure that the  brush was selected and not the eyedropper about twenty times to see if it was user error...it  wasn't.  Now this isn't the only issue...just the first one I noticed. After playing around with Photoshop  and running across the first problem, I decided that maybe the program needed an update. I  went ahead and updated the program and now discovered some newer issues:  Same document is up that I want to edit. I go to use the burn tool, click on it--scroll over to the  picture and I see the dodge tool. I click on the tool bar to change to the dodge tool--scroll over  to the picture again and see the burn tool! It's as if all my tool icons are jumbled and misplaced!  I am having issues with about 90% of my tools I don't know what's going on.   I was shown a link on Adobe's website that said if I update my  Mac software to 10.6.6 I may experience problems with photoshop and other programs..  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/881/cpsid_88159.html   I am just really at a dead end with trying to fix this..because I don't know what to do! I am  stumped. Please help! I'm desperate for an answer!!  The CPU settings thing...I tried it with it enabled and disabled...still the same issues!

I  deleted photoshop and re installed it,
Deleting Photoshop is not advisable, you should have un-installed it.
    Boilerplate-text:
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

  • Cannot edit JPG, GIF files stored in a SharePoint 2010 picture library

Created a SharePoint 2010 picture library to store .jpg, .gif images along with other types of images which were created using Adobe photoshop, Tiff etc.
Upon clicking on the .jpg, .gif files for editing purposes, they open in the browser instead of Photoshop so I cannot edit these files for this reason. Other types of image files are editable but not the jpg, gif files. File associations are already
in place for these files to open in Photoshop. Please advise.
    Thank you,
    Mahesh

You can change the default application that opens while you click open document using DocIcon.xml which is present on the web front ends. Please look at this link which explains what you need to update in order to take care of your requirement.

  • Why am i having a delay whenever i click on anything on Firefox now?

Recently, in the past two weeks or so, I have a 2-4 second delay whenever I click on a Firefox function, from clicking on an existing tab, using the scrollbar, clicking on the refresh button, clicking on any toolbar function, etc., etc.. Why? It doesn't seem to be my computer, lack of memory, etc.. I've done everything from clearing the cache, updating the latest version of Firefox, booting my computer, etc. etc. Nothing seems to fix the problem. This only started happening recently. My computer has plenty of memory (2 gig, usually at least 1.5 gig available), nothing has changed on it that i can think of, i always keep everything updated, from my McAfee to my Firefox, not running any memory intensive programs, and have basically a brand new computer with tons of free space, memory, etc., running Windows 7, 64-bit, and is super fast with everything else... am only having this problem with Firefox. Any ideas that aren't the usual things to look for? It's annoying to have to wait those few seconds every time i try to do something on Firefox. Thanks!!

  • Unable to view camera RAW files on Windows 7 and CS4 - Have tried updates

All working OK until 8 days ago, then bridge just disappeared completely. Looked like it had opened but would disappear when I clicked on the icon. Re-installed, Bride now visable but unable to view .CR2 files in camrea RAW or in Photoshop, comes up as "unable to open". Have tried to install the 5.7 camera raw update, extract files, click on application, then photoshop opens and advises "invalid file type". Not sure what to do now and have a large number of weddin files slowly building up .... PLEASE HELP!!

When something works one day, but not the next, then something has changed. The task is to find out what that is.
    Have you installed new hardware?
    Have you installed new software?
Have you had any major updates installed?
Those are but a few things to ponder.
You might want to create a new System Restore Point (on a PC) for today, and then boot to Safe Mode, choosing System Restore, and choose a point, from at least 8 days before. Reboot, when prompted, and test. At the least, you have only lost a few minutes, as you can Restore to today's System Restore Point. The Mac has something called Time Machine, and I would think that it could do similar, but just do not know, as I am a PC-only guy.
    Good luck,

  • Downloading Camera Raw 8.1

I bought a new camera (Canon G15). Raw conversion is not supported on my version (5) of Photoshop. Instructions advise to download from update mechanism in Photoshop CS6. Works for Lightroom, but not photoshop.

  • How do I transfer plugins from PS CC to the 2014 version?

I downloaded a big bunch of plugins for Photoshop CC. Now I also have downloaded Photoshop CC 2014. How do I connect all those plugins to the 2014 version?

Many plug-ins DO install extra files in other places, such as the Photoshop main installation folder.  If you can work out which files those are, AND the older plug-in doesn't do anything that's fundamentally incompatible with the new version of Photoshop you may find you can copy the plug-ins.
If the plug-in maker is charging money for a new version that's compatible with Photoshop it may well be because they had to put significant effort into making the plug-in compatible.  Far too many plug-ins hook into Photoshop in ways that go outside the published plug-in interface in order to do "fancy" things.
I've seen enough folks coming to the forum with Photoshop instability to advise anything other than what I said up in post 2 as a general rule.  At the least if you're contemplating copying specific plug-ins, you should ask here whether anyone's tried it.

  • Help.... CS5 Trial does not work :(?

Okay, so I download the Photoshop CS5 Trial, a while back(Maybe a week or 2? Less?) and everytime I try to launch photoshop, it tells me my trial has expired, how can this be? And why? This happened from the beginning of me downloading it, not just right now, I am only coming right now, because I have a project for school that I need to do in 2 weeks. Please help me!

I advise you to buy Photoshop CS5 Extended. The duration is unlimited, that is, forever.
