Photoshop CC Quits After Running Camera Raw Filter

During the past week, Photoshop keeps quitting after I have used the Camera RAW Filter and then pressed OK.
Anyone else experienced this.

I have not, but I guess the generic advice may apply …
Boilerplate-text:
Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by pressing command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift while starting Photoshop until the appropriate dialog appears after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)

  • Picture appears white (cannot see the image) when using camera raw filter in photoshop cc

I have a fresh install of Photoshop CC on my macbook.  I am running into an issue when editing an image in Photoshop cc and using the camera raw filter.  If I choose the camera raw filter camera raw opens up but all I see is white - the picture is not showing within the camera raw interface.  This happens whenever I am working on a layer and apply the camera raw filter.  The only time it works is when I do not have any layers but only the image as it comes directly from within camera raw - then it works fine.  I'm guessing there is something really basic I am missing but it is maddening!

    You are welcome.
The Camera RAW filter will not work on an adjustment layer alone. Select the layer with the image and the adjustment layer and convert to a smart object to apply the Camera RAW filter to the image with the adjustment layer applied.

  • Can't preview jpg in Camera RAW filter after Photoshop update

I just updated my Photoshop cc and now when I open jpg in the Camera RAW filter. I get a blue box with big X.

Be sure you have the latest graphics driver installed.  More info here:

  • Camera Raw Filter is not working correctly in Photoshop CC when applied to video layer

With Photoshop CC, when editing a video and adding a "Camera Raw Filter" to some video layer, the effect will be applied only to one frame and not to the whole video layer.
Should it not add that filter to the whole layer (e.g. all frames in that clip)?

Either it's a bug or a limitation. Haven't yet tried this, so I can't tell you whether it works as it should or is acting up... I would however assume that within what one can expect it works as designed - ACR doesn't have a built-in timeline, so there would be nothing for the PS routines to request retrieval of frames from withing the SO.

  • Bridge wont recognizw my Nikon d610.  I am running windows 8 and photoshop cs6 with 8.6 camera raw plug in.  How can I get bridge to recognize my camera?  Thanks to anyone who can help!!

Bridge wont recognizw my Nikon d610.  I am running windows 8 and photoshop cs6 with 8.6 camera raw plug in.  How can I get bridge to recognize my camera?  Thanks!!

That camera model has been supported since ACR 8.3 and it is most certainly supported by ACR 8.6 and ACR 8.7 (beta).
Either you have damaged, corrupt image files, or a faulty Photoshop and/or ACR installation.
If there are no privacy issues, you can post one of your files to the FTP service of your choice (such as Dropbox or yousendit.com), post the link to it, and someone here can take a look at it for you.

  • Missing camera raw filter from photoshop's filter menu.

    Hello,
I do not have the Camera Raw filter in my filters menu, and I've just updated Photoshop this AM.
    Thanks for your help
    Diane

This feature only exists in PS CC, not any other version.

  • PS CC: Camera Raw filter gives "cannot parse your files" error

    Hi
I can open files fine in Photoshop CC, but if I try to use the Camera Raw filter, I get the "file format module cannot parse your files" error. This only happens with larger TIFFs, say 300 MB or so - 70 MB files work fine. I have a fast machine running Windows 7 with 12GB of RAM, so I would expect to have enough space, but maybe it isn't configured properly in PS preferences?
    Thanks for any help,
    Peter

300MB Tiff seems like a large files size for a Tiff which leads me to believe its a layered Tiff.  ACR does not have Layers support try opening the Tiff file in Photoshop not through ACR to see it there are layers. If there are target  all of them and convert to a smart Object then try ACR as a filter. A smart object is a single layer in Photoshop.

  • Camera Raw Filter glitch

    Hi,
running PS CC 2014 on Mac with Yosemite and am getting an annoying glitch when I access Filter >  Camera Raw Filter
The only way to show all items in the filter is to roll over it with the cursor.
This doesn't happen all the time, just enough to be a pain in the ...

Thanks for the reply - the problem isn't with ACR itself but the new Camera Raw filter available in photoshop CC 2014 in the filters selection, this doesn't seem to include the workflow options that you get at the bottom of the normal ACR window-  it's a really handy filter for quick final adjustments but on my Macbook keeps adding sharpening even when the sliders are at zero. Is there a workflow option menu for this filter ? Something strange going on somewhere- thanks again for the reply , Tom

  • Camera Raw Filter Crashing CC

Photoshop is frequently crashing after using the Camera raw Filter on iMac
Just looked through the crash reports and it ius always showing
    Crashed Thread:  58  cr_sdk
    Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: EXC_I386_GPFLT
    Anyone know what this means

You will have to provide the full crash info and details about your Mac. Posting random bits out of context is useless.

  • Mail quits after running for a few minutes

Mail quits after running for a couple of minutes, started doing it yesterday. I have looked at the advice given for similar problems, disk utility can find no problem with my drive, I repaired permissions anyway. No change.
Also ran the 'plutil' on the plist which came out as 'OK'.
I don't 'think' it is immediately the result of updating to 10.4.7 as it ran happily for some time after the update.
Is the only solution to trash the plist and redo all my mail accounts?
    20' iMac 2.1 Ghz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1 GB RAM

Mail probably is crashing when new junk mail arrives. Try the following in order to identify the problem:
    1. Either tell Mail to go offline immediately after opening it, or shut down your Internet connection and open Mail afterwards.
    2. Disable junk mail filtering in Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail.
    3. Go online again.
If Mail doesn't crash now, then you know for sure there is something wrong with the junk filter. In that case, the following procedure should fix the problem:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/.
    3. Locate LSMMap2 and move it to the Trash -- deleting this file is what clicking the Reset button in Preferences > Junk Mail does. If you see an LSMMap file there, move it to the Trash too.
    4. Locate DefaultCounts and move it to the Trash. This file keeps statistics about the number of messages that have been marked as junk, either automatically by the junk filter or manually by the user.
    5. Locate MessageRules.plist and move it to the Desktop. This is where Mail 2.x stores all rules, including those used by the junk filter. If there is a file called MessageRules.plist.backup, move it to the Desktop too. You may also see MessageSorting.plist files there; this is where Mail 1.x stored the rules, and they are no longer used by Mail 2.x, so just move them to the Trash if you see them.
    6. Look for the account folders. The name of each account folder starts with the account type (POP, IMAP, Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. Open each of the account folders, locate the Junk.mbox or Junk.imapmbox folder within it, and move it to the Trash if present.
    7. Go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. Locate any Junk.mbox folders there (their name may include the account name in parenthesis), and move them to the Trash.
Note: Messages in Junk folders with an .mbox suffix are stored locally, and will be lost forever as a result of doing steps 6 and 7. If there is a chance that you have legit messages there and you want to preserve them, move them to another mailbox in Mail first (you may prevent Mail from crashing by shutting down the Internet connection or telling Mail to go offline immediately after opening it). Messages in Junk folders with an .imapmbox suffix are stored on the server and can be ignored (Mail will rebuild those mailboxes automatically).
    8. Open Mail. As a result of removing the rules file, the junk filter will be disabled now. You may want to either tell Mail to go offline immediately after opening it, or shut down the Internet connection before opening Mail, to prevent it from downloading anything until the junk mail filter has been enabled again.
    9. Go to Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk filtering, and configure it however you wish.
    10. Go online again if you went offline in step 8.
If the above solves the problem and you don't have any rules you'd like to preserve or recreating them is not a daunting task, just delete the MessageRules.plist files that were moved to the Desktop and be done with it.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

  • Photoshop CC not recognizing installed camera raw 8.3 plug-in

I have just installed DNG/Camera Raw 8.3 on my computer, and it is running in LR, but when I try to edit a LR photo in PS CC, it says I need Camera Raw 8.3. PS CC is only running Camera Raw 8.2.  How do I get PS CC to see the 8.3 version? Better question might be does the DNG 8.3 download include CR8.3, and if not, how do I get CR8.3?

No, the DNG and ACR updates are separate.  You should be able to invoke the ACR update from the Help menu in Photoshop.

  • Filter-Camera Raw Filter not found

I was looking at the Video Tutorials on Creative Cloud, and In The Tutorial shows a camera raw filter inside Filter Tab. I have purchased the CC version, But at this point it is  still CS6.
Do I have to wait until June 14th so my Photoshop gets upgrade to CC ?
Is that the reason I don't see the Camera Raw Filter inside the Filter Tab ?
I did go to the CS6 Bridge and I opened a picture with the camera raw, and it shows Camera Raw 8.1
    Thanks

Yes, the camera raw filter is available in the next version. So you need to wait a bit.

  • Where can I find the Camera Raw Filter in CS6?

I would like to know where I can find the camera raw filter in Photoshop CS6 Student Version? I used the PS CC testversion and really liked working with this filter and miss it now. Can anyone help me?

The Camera Raw filter isn't in Photoshop CS6. That is one of the new features that has been added to Photoshop CC. Photoshop CS6 is not going to have any enhancements added to it. The development cycle is finished for CS6.
