Photoshop CC Ram Errors

Hi,
- First the problem(s): Using Photoshop CC has revealed new issues I never had with CS4 with Ram running out preventing any actions. This happens no matter what the image resolution is, small or large, and once it happens I literally cant edit or save the project.
(This is from a google search to show the pop up. I do not have a Mac - but the error is identical)
This error or notice pops up whenever I try to save, use a brush etc. Even if I flatten my document down into one layer and change the image size to something smaller it wont let me save it. It wont even let me take a Print Screen screenshot. My only option is Snipping Tool to save what I have worked on.
- I have gone in and made sure to adjust the amount of available ram that photoshop uses and have played with the values in many ways but it has never had any real affect (Except for bad when I put it too high or low). The ram error eventually pops up after a couple hours of painting.
- These are my current settings. As you can see I only have the one default C drive sitting at around 180 free gigs. I do not know if this is enough but I have heard as long as I have at least 60 gigs available Photoshop should be able to run pretty well.
- Specs:
Other issues that may or may not be related to the problem:
- Photoshop takes about 1-2 minutes to open up after a computer reboot and another couple minutes to open any document of any size.
- OpenGL will randomly shut off after a few hours of painting. The only way to turn it back on is for a full comp restart
- System lags more and more as I Livestream paintings. It starts out OK but it becomes unworkable in under 2 hours - even small resolution sizes get unbearable.
- Color picker starts to lag when I select colors. Eyedropping takes a second or two while pressing default hotkey 'Alt' for it to identify colors.
- Just overall slowdown until it finally says that Ram is depleted.
My solutions:
- Buy a SSD and put photoshop and windows on it. ( I do not know where to even begin looking for good solid state drives)
- Remove my Addons/ Extensions. I use 'PaintersWheel' which isnt optimized for CC yet but seems to work. But when the lag starts to hit the wheel gets much worse and is almost unusuable.
What else is my computer running when the issue occurs?:
- Sometimes nothing but Photoshop CC
- Google Chrome with multiple tabs
- Skype (I hear this can a system hog?)
- When livestreaming, Open Broadcasting Software (32bit) for Twitch.
My computer should be able to handle three things, right?
That's all I have. I do not know how to specifically target the issue anymore. Is there a memory leak? Does my computer have some weird virus or malware? I upgraded from CS4 and had none of these issues a few months ago. Now tha I upgraded to CC these things are taking a toll on my work habits.
I have seen other posts about this same issue and have tried addressing it the ways people suggested but I have had no luck (most deal with allocating more/less space to photoshop). What it seems to come down to is I simply 'have something wrong with my computer.' That isnt a very good answer for someone that isn't that computer literate.
Thanks in advance!
Scott

Sorry to bug again, I have not had the ram error pop up, but the intense slow down is still occurring after a few hours of painting. I am not painting at super resolution sizes, right now roughly 3k x 2k at 72 dpi (really not that big in terms of paintings.)
I was able to capture the processing memory before on the task manager before I restarted my computer. Hopefully these images are clearer when I post them...
I Kept painting and by the time I decided I should restart it was sitting at 7 million. Even after I closed all of the files and it was simply photoshop running the amoutn of memory it was soaking up seems high.
After restarting I opened it up fresh and loaded in the same image I had been working on and it leveled out at a much lower number. 450k
I dont know why there is such a difference in memory size. It is like it keeps the memory running for every image I had opened up even if I close it. After shutting down photoshop, I noticed that it was still running in the processes in the background for another several minutes. I tried to end the process manually but it rejected it saying that wasn't allowed.
Is this normal photoshop behavior?

  • Photoshop CS2 Not Enough RAM error message (wrong forum)

For some strange reason, my copy of Photoshop CS2 (macintosh) has started giving me an error message after program start up: could not complete your request because there is not enough RAM. I don't have to do anything. This message pops up about 1 minute after I start the program. The program works fine. I just close the window and go on. I haven't installed any new plug ins or changes to my prefs or hardware configuration. This just started for no apparent reason. It doesnt't refuse to work, it's just annoying. I've tried deleting the Photoshop prefs file and reinstalling the program from the master disc. Didn't help. I'm running OS 10.4.2 on a dual 1.8 gz processor mac with 4 gigs of RAM; Photoshop set to retain 60% of that. Anyone with any ideas about this, or should I just quit whining and go back to work...

  • Photoshop.exe 64bit error 0xc000007b on photoshop startup

I just got a new computer and installed a 15$ trial cd of master suite collection. The 32 bit version of photoshop works fine but when i click on a .psd file that is already created i get this error photoshop.exe 64bit error 0xc000007b the application need to be closed. Is there a solution
    I using Windowss 7 Home pre 64bit.
system specs; windows 7 homepre 64bit 6gb ddr2 ram processor amd phneom 965 graphic card this nvdia geforce gt 220

That error is usually caused by a bad registry error.
You wrote that you installed Photoshop on the new computer. The next sentence you wrote you installed the master suite try out. Did you actually install CS4 then installed the master suite over that? Little confused here.
You cannot install the master suite over the CS4 already installed because the master suite already has CS4 installed as a package. That may be where your error is at.
Anyways here is a link to the creative suite forums. They may be able to help you out better.

  • I used to use PS7 then upgraded everything including computers.  Now I get out of ram errors all the time. Not Happy!!  Ideas?

I used to be able to minipulate huge photoshop files.
Now I can't even get one to go from 20 to 50 gig!
All I get is this out of ram error.
I have a 400G scratch disk and well over optimum on all settings!
    NOT HAPPY!!

It would be necessary that you have to use "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool". (see Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 )
The order varies depending on your individual needs:
    1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
    2. Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
    3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"? Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html   and follow the prescribed sequence of operations

  • Multiple Artboards to PDF gives RAM error?

    Hi,
I am currently wondering if I do something wrong or if there are some bug involved.
I am working on a walldesign, it will be printed as 3 pages. See attached file below.
I am using the artboards for aligning the background to match bleed and content correctly.
Below i used a .tif file as background that covers all area, Then i save PDF on each artboard,
I turn off Keep illustrator edit and Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4). All three pdfs seem to work, they open in Acrobat.
But doing it this way might corrupt the pdf?
If I import the pdf in photoshop it will give me RAM error. I have 64 gb ram in x64 enviroment  so that should
not happen when the PDF is only 10 mb? On a similiar project the printers also had trouble placing the pdf
in their printing system also complaining on RAM? Or error on "Cant rasterize the image".
If i make 3 smaller backgrounds and remove all artboards and only have 1 for each part, then the above
error don't occur and everything is fine. So i guess its either multiple artboards or that the background is to large
in someway or is kept outside the trimarea in the pdf so it stays huge. I thought everything outside the cutting area
would be cropped away if I save without illustrator edit. The pdf size seem to tell me that it has cropped everything
outside. But the ram error will occur :|
    Any ideas or tips?

Here is a link to a crashing pdf:
    http://www.reduna.com/download/crashing.pdf
It wont render in Chrome either, and trying to open in Photoshop gives me:
Could not complete the Open command because there is not enough memory(RAM)
It contains the left top part from the earlier post/photo.
    Sincerely
    Nicklas

  • Photoshop CC RAM

I just upgraded from 8GB of ram to 32GB of ram. I still can't process the HDR images. It say that I don't have enough ram to complete the camera raw filter task. How do I fix this? I have been in preferences-performance it did not help.

  • Photoshop Scratch Disk Error OSX 10.7.5

I had a Mac with CS5.5 installed. Suddenly i got an Error Message on Startup: "Could not open a scratch file because the disk is unavailable...."
Unable to solve the Problem I Updated to CS6.0 in hope of fixing the Problem that way. It did not.
So i deleted the User and created a new one which worked, for a while at least. Now i have the same Error again!
After searching around a bit i found this Thread: Re: Photoshop Scratch Disk Error OSX Lion 10.7.3
In this Thread FocusCreative22 found the answer to that Problem. He suggested checking "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" in the Volume Info.
My Problem now is that either through having a newer OS version or only having the Startupdrive i dont have the checkbox "Ignore Ownership on this Volume". How to fix this Problem then?

    Chris,
Thank you for responding. I think you're onto something. I looked in disk utility to see if I could repair permissions on the scratch volume, as Lundberg suggested, however the option to do so was greyed out due to this message: "Not available because the selected disk is set to ignore ownership". So I went to the partition, pulled up the Get Info box and saw that the "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" box was not checked. I checked it to see what would happen, and although the option to repair permissions is still greyed out in disk utility, now Photoshop starts up perfectly, even with the problematic scratch partition set as the primary Photoshop Scratch Disk.
Is this the wrong way to get to the right answer?
Concerning your other suggestions, I was able to use Go To Folder to get to the /private folder, and I saw that it said I could only read. I was able to add my user account and give it Read/Write permission through the Get Info dialogue box (I fear Terminal unless I have explicit instructions). Is this what I want? I also looked into the /volumes folder and apparently there is nothing within it, unless the folders are hidden I suppose. I checked permissions of my main drive (startup disk, on which all my applications reside) and they claim that I have read/write privileges. However I'm only viewing this in the Get Info box; is that not the right place to see/alter it? Because this whole time the scratch partition also claimed that I have read/write permissions and that was obviously not true, as it only started working right once I checked "Ignore Ownership on this Volume". But it's incredibly confusing because I could save files to the scratch drive from Photoshop; I just couldn't choose it as a scratch drive.
The short question is: is it ok that I simply chose to ignore ownership on these disks, and that I messed with the /private folder, and/or do I need to do anything else?

Successfully installed & activated Photoshop CS3  on a new PC with a fresh Windows 7 Pro 64bit installation, along with Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 & Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9 updates.  Bridge runs fine, but Photoshop returns the following error when attempting to launch the program, "Could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error."  Attempted to resolve by the following steps:

Any suggestions to resolve this dilemma are appreciated.

I managed to resolve the Photoshop CS3 initialization error by reinstalling Windows 7 Pro 64-bit from scratch.  This took a lot of time, but it amounted to less effort than I had spent troubleshooting the problem.

You don't have the correct secrutiy privileges:
You have to install PS as Admin on Vista/Windows 7. When you first install the software don't run it. Go to your DVD drive and explore. Look for the PS folder and find the .exe install file. Right click on this and choose run as Admin. (there is a difference between being a admin on a computer and installing software in the Admin mode)
So when you first start PS in Vista/Windows 7 you have to run the software in Admin mode to get all the privileges.
Right click on the PS icon, choose properties, compatibility tab and then check Run this program as an administrator. Click Apply then OK to close. Then restart PS.
Don't forget to update PS CS4 to 11.01.

  • Photoshop CS4:Fatal error

This pops up when I open my Photoshop CS4:
Fatal error - missing component: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Client/4.0.0/VersionCue.framework.
Any ideas on what i can do? happens when I open a project.
    Thanks

Ok, after reading tons of threads trying to get a simple answer here are the main points:
You do not need to reinstall anything.
Locate a backup , Time Machine or anyplace where you may have a backup of your Adobe Suite Install.
In both Locations( Hard Drive and Backup) Navigate to: Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Version Cue CS4 > Client
Once there you will see your problem Adobe is looking for  folder named 4.0.0 and you have 4.0.1
Fix: Find the backup and copy over folder named "4.0.0" , Problem solved!
Open up Adobe Photoshop CS4 and problem should be fixed.
    Observations:
Upon inspecting folder 4.0.1, I did notice there were exactly 5 (.framework) files just like in folder 4.0.0 with the exception of 4.0.0 having a "Dictionaries" folder. where 4.0.1 has this folder missing. I am not sure how important this particular folder may be, However if by any chance you do not have a backup It might be possible to just change the 4.0.1 folders name to 4.0.0. and this just might work, In theory that is . Good Luck!
