Photoshop CC really bad lagging on new rMBP

I resently bought a new Retina MacBook Pro 13" with a nice fast 2,8 i7 proccesor and a big chunk of 16 Gb ram. After using it on my older iMac I was exited to use it on my new MacBook. But its lagging really bad. It makes it unusable for me. I don't work with large files and we mostly use it for small UI design. I use a Bamboo Wacom and use OpenGL is on. when turned of its a lot faster but this results in masive graphic bugs.
Anyone know how to fix this? Because I'm really thinking of switching to Sketch 3 (http://bohemiancoding.com/sketch)

Well, something is up with your system to make it slow.
Do you have any third party plugins? Have you tried disabling them?
Do you have any utilities that would interfere with other applications (antivirus, firewall, etc.)?
And the "graphics bugs" mean that you have a driver problem which will have to be addressed by Apple.

• Anyone else getting really bad lag since Jelly Bean update?

Verizon forced a Jelly Bean update to my SG3 about a month ago. Since then my phone has been lagging really bad. Takes about 7 to 8 seconds see what I typed when texting, it takes a long time to open up the contacts, or a web page or even sometimes just flipping through the screens it will lag. Has anyone else had any issues like this? Anyone know how to fix it? Getting a new phone is not an option, sending it out to be fixed is not an option. I have no choice but to keep the phone I have or <Comment deleted per the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service.>.

It sounds to me as if you are having some application conflicts. It may be worth it to try a factory reset, without backing up your application settings, and down/install your apps again.

• Rendering is really slow on my new rMBP

Hi everyone!
So I bought a new retina MacBook Pro with the following specs: Intel i7, 8GB Ram, 256 SSD HD and NVIDIA GT 650m 1GB
It's the first time I have a powerfull machine and when rendering some twixtor animation in AE, rendering goes pretty slowly. I mean it' s a £2000 laptop with pretty good specs, shouldn't it be faster? Anyway I can accept that issue to a certain level.
But if I drag my original clip in my composition (without any effects/modifications applied) and try to scroll through to see where to start my effects, it doesn't play the video at its original fps. Is that normal?
Are there any software options I can select to push for better performance?

Thank you EVERYONE for the constructive replies! Really appreciate it!

There could be a lot of reasons why the render times are slow. How slow are we talking? Third Patry Plug-ins often take a long time to render. Also After Effects never plays at the original fps without using the RAM Preview button. Basically we need to know a lot more to help you.
Well that is good to know! I didn't know about the RAM preview until you mentioned it!
I've just tried it and for a 60fps clip (no effects added to it), it plays it at around 30fps compared to 25fps with regular play/pause.
I'm using:
AE CS5 v10.0.0.458
OSX mountain lion 10.8
2.3Ghz Intel i7-3615QM (4 cores)
256Gb SSD Hard Drive
8GB 1600Mhz DDR3
NVIDIA GT 650M 1024Mb

Just because you paid what seems to be a lot of money, does not mean you have a very powerful machine; it just means you spent money. As much as I love Apple products, I find them to be somewhat overpriced for the amount of power you get. Not to mention that a notebook computer, no matter the brand, is always far inferior to a desktop machine at the same price point.
I agree with you; desktops with always smash laptops. But the specs I have are pretty good for a laptop. This is what we're concentrating on here.
"Slow" is a relative term. Twixtor can be a pretty render-intensive effect. Is this slower with the same project on your MacBook Pro than it is on another machine or is this the first time you've tried it?
Well it's true that I didn't try with other effects so I might be panicking for nothing. I'm comparing the rendering times with my 3 year old laptop:
AE CS5.5 v10.5.0.253
Windows 7 64bit
2.1Ghz Intel Pentium (dual core)
4GB
300GB 5400rpm
GPU: Mobile Intel 4 Chipset
You can see that the RAM is double, the processor is much more powerfull and having a SSD HDD over a regualr 5400rpm one, is a massive upgrade!
Also, you didn't list your processor speed, but you don't really have a very powerful machine. I mean, it's probably pretty good for a notebook (although, a lot of processing power may go into running that cool display.) And I say "probably pretty good for a notebook" because you haven't even said how many cores your processor even has. The max you could have in the i7 is 4, but you might only have 2. I don't know the specs on the new MBP, but a professional motion graphics workstation is likely to have 8, 12, or more. What you get in any notebook can never compare to a proper desktop workstation.
Well I'm confident enough to say that an i7 is one of the best processors you can get in a laptop atm. This one - 2.3Ghz Intel i7-3615QM - has 4 cores (and they each run 2 threads at a time). And the display doesn't hit the CPU that bad. The ram and GPU do work a little harder tho.
And I'm not here to compare desktops with laptops. My workstation has to be on a laptop. I work on yatchs and a desktop is irrelevant for me right now. So I'm looking at how to make rendering more efficient regardless of how slow other tasks (outside AE) might be.
Yes; there may be settings you can tweak to make AE render quicker. Turn off multiprocessing and see if it's faster or slower. Then try tweaking some of the other settings in the memory and multiprocessing and testing. There are many factors that influence rendering speed and there is no "correct" setting in there.
I will try all of the options mentioned above, hope that makes a difference or at least makes me understand how the software interacts with the hardware.

Twixtor is known to be a slower renderer due to the complex computations it does when creating frames.
Well like I said above, I do realise now I haven't actually tried any other effects. Good to know Twixtor might be the main reason and not the hardware it self!
I'm just really supprised AE cant playback a clip at its orignal frame speed even tho the clip hasn't been modified.

• Premier Elements 9 glitching really badly on my new computer. :(

Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone could help troubleshoot a problem I'm having with Premier Elements 9. The program itself worked fine on my old laptop, but I have a new desktop now that's much more powerful and will be able to handle rendering split screen, etc. Unfortunately I sat down to put a vid together today for the first time on my new comp, and Elements is glitching so badly that I can't even use it. The first problem I noticed was that in the New Project window (for naming projects, designation save paths, etc.) nothing happened when I clicked the buttons. Finally I hit "Enter" on the keyboard and that got rid of that box. I could then start a new project from the dropdown menu and could manipulate the resulting identical box no prob. However, when I actually got into Elements and tried to drag audio/video into the timeline, the graphics of the interface completely bugged out. Black lines show up anywhere my cursor runs across the time line, and the whole timeline part of the interface goes nuts when I try to put a file in there. Clicking on the scroll bar will bring it back to normal appearance, but any attempts to edit the file or add files results in the same glitching. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks; have a good one.

P.S. Running Windows 7 64bit (same as my laptop was)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Bill. My video card driver was up to date according to Device Manager, but I went to AMD's website (I have a Radeon HD 6850) and found that their most recent driver for my card was dated later than that listed in Device Manager. I downloaded that and it installed a program called Catalyst that manages the video card, including updating the drivers. To be succinct, there was no change in Premier and after some digging I've come to the conclusion that my computer is reading drivers from System 32 but the new drivers I've installed are in a different place (C:/AMD/...). Any ideas on my next move? Can I just install this package into System 32? Is there a way to tell my comp to look for the drivers in the other folder? Thanks for any help everyone; much appreciated.

• HT201436 voice mail management is really bad with the newer version of software for my iPhone5 my old version deleted VMs instantly but now my phone freezes up and at times the delete button does not work until i set the phone aside for up to a minute.

I am having a hard time deleting unwanted voice messages with my new phone and software as compare to my iphone4 which was as easy as clicking on the delete button. VMs would delete instantly. with my iPhone 5 7.0.4 software ver the first one or two delete immediately then the phone freezes up for several seconds making the process frustrating. I am wondering if either I am doing something wrong or if there is a fix out there. its a giant step backwards for Apple.

• I have The New iPad and the FaceTime camera is really bad and fuzzy and does not autofocus properly however the other camera is really good how do I fix this?

The FaceTime camera is really bad on my New iPad (which I've had for a while) it's really fuzzy, poor & doesn't autofocus properly however the other camera is really good how do I fix this?!!!! X( x_x

I'm also on iPhone 4, iOS 6, and have exactly the same problem. I've tried resetting privacy settings, turning restrictions on and off, deleting and reinstalling apps. Nothing seems to work. The lists of apps in privacy settings are all empty, except for location services. When using Tweetbot the app is regularly asking for permission to access my twitter account, but even when I allow that, the app doesn't show in privacy settings. When I try to go into the camera roll from the Facebook app, the app tells me I have to allow access to the camera roll from the privacy settings - which I can't do since the app is not listed there.

• Photoshop is lagging really badly in my 13in Macbook Pro.

Photoshop is lagging really badly in my 13in Macbook Pro. Simple operations like selecting a tool, or just any click take up to 5min to complete. I looked in the force quit menu and it tells me that the program is not responding. I tried re-starting my laptop, even uninstalling the program. When I installed it again the problem got worse as when it loads the rainbow wheel shows up, not letting me do anything. Currently I'm on the trial version. Maybe the problem will fix itself if I buy a plan?

Not really. You have to look at things.
System requirements | Photoshop to start with. See how your Macbook measures up
Verify your disk and Repair Permissions with disk utility.
Be sure you are updated to 2014.2.2
Then see if there are bad fonts or third party plugins.

• Safari started lagging really bad

I have a 2013 Macbook Air with Mountain Lion and while it had been running flawlessly since the day I bought it, a few days ago it started lagging really, REALLY bad. I've been able to narrow down the problem and now I'm 99% positive Safari is the culprit here. Whenever I open a new tab (even with some light, text-mostly content) the "Web Content (Safari)" process starts to devour the memory like crazy, sometimes going above 100% and almost never going below 60%. Sometimes it goes down after a while but sometimes I have to close the tab completely to make it come back to normal. The pages with videos are even worse in that aspect, the whole system starts lagging as if I had a 8-year old machine on Vista.
I searched through the forums and found that for some, links misplaced in the reading list were the culprit but I don't see anything out of the ordinary videos and articles there. What else may I try?

Hello Tigro!
Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities!

• IPod lags really bad...

My iPod is lagging really bad, it takes about 15 seconds to load a song and sometimes just totaly freezes up. It was working fine yesterday but just all of a sudden today it started freezing up. I tried to restore it but now today my computer doesn't see it in iTunes. I went through all of the steps apple recomends but it didn't help.
Thanks

it sounds like a hard drive issue to me.. you might be stuck sending it in.

• I have a 2011 MBP, i7 13 inch. My MBP has been lagging really badly and eating up bandwidth. When I go to Activity Monitor, two things seem to be going off - syslogd and mtmd. Their CPU percentage is really high.

Even typing this, the computer will lag and the fans are really loud.
When my partner is playing xbox, he lags really badly and when I turn off my computer, it stops.
Does anyone know what might be wrong with it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi...
How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

• The FaceTime camera is really bad and has tiny things scrambling everywhere on The New iPad why?

The FaceTime camera is really bad however the front one is clear why is that?!

First, this is a user to user forum, so you're not talking to Apple here...none of 'us' broke the card reader.
Have you tried to give your iPad a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot.
Also, I've noticed with mine that the import window doesn't always pop up like it used to, but instead you'll see 'import' as a button added to the bottom right of the screen when you plug in a SD card that holds properly named and formatted content (as in if you plug in a SD card without a DCIM folder you get no response, there has to be something for it to import for the option to even appear

• Firefox behaves REALLY badly at random times and I'm worried about it?

So here's what happens. This happens at random times, unexpectedly. I click on a new link, any link, and suddenly, Firefox blares up, automatically turns to private browsing, and goes to a bunch of random websites.
Then, it lands on ''www.xnxx<!-- -->.com'',('''edit''', un-linked -J99 ) which I have identified to be a pornography website. After that, it suddenly picks on a random porn video and crashes before the video plays.
This really worries me, because just before this first happened, I had done a quick scan with both Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro, and there was absolutely NO problem.
Not only that, I had gone only to trusted websites.
I'm a high school sophomore, so this could turn out REALLY badly for me if someone sees this happening and thinks that I'm TRYING to watch that stuff.
I have already sent a crash report to Firefox and included the website that I crashed in, which is the porn website. I haven't sent any other details, though.
Could I be getting hacked? I don't think so, because this only happens with Firefox; Chrome, Opera, Maxthon, and IE don't have this problem.
I'm running Firefox 15.0.1 in Windows 7 x64 (why the crash report said Windows NT x86, I have no idea).
PLEASE help me fix this!

On looking at your System Details aside I note that you include a Crash ID.
That particular crash is probably related to use of Norton software. You may find that you can use the Norton security software without crashes if you disable the '''Norton Security Safe '''feature (Please confirm - or otherwise - that you are using that ). Note I am not suggesting you turn of the security software, just the utility/toolbar.

• Mail handles .Mac really badly-what's up?

Since I put my .Mac email account into my Mail application, it has worked really badly and I am considering just deleting off the .Mac account and not using it anymore as it is so annoying. Essentially, having the .Mac account in Mail slows everything else (my other email accounts) down to a ridiculous level. When I check "All", and sometimes when I send even one email, the Activity Viewer shows me that Mail is struggling to open .Mac mailboxes and stuff like that, and while it is struggling to do various things with .Mac, including synchronizing, the other email accounts are held up in the queue (ho hum... very boring). To prevent this, I went into the .Mac account and unchecked the "Include when automatically checking for new mail", but this has no effect whatsoever, probably because I usually check for new mail manually anyway.
I have two Macs at present, an older G4 flat panel iMac (1.25 Ghz), and a brand new dual core intel MacBook (2Ghz) and the problem is exactly the same on both Macs. Anyone having similar problems or knows a fix to this? Would love to hear!

There is a setting under the Advanced tab for the
account preferences to not keep all messages and
their attachments available for offline viewing but I
don't use this setting and don't experience the same
problems.
To clarify, do you mean that you "do not" keep all messages (etc.) available for offline viewing, or that you "do" keep all messages (etc.) available? At present, I have this option to "keep all messages and attachments available for off-line viewing" checked positive, by default I presume.
After first creating the account if there
are a number of server stored mailboxes and messages
available on the server, the mailbox and message
synchronization process takes longer than normal and
the time it takes for subsequent synchronization
should not be a real long process unless a number of
changes have been make with server stored mailboxes.
Odd thing is that I only have one saved message in the .Mac account, and that is a tiny weeny one (about 10K) with no attachments or anything! By the way, since I have just been going through everything all over again, I notice that what really seems to be holding things up (I've now changed synchronization to "manual" on both computers) is when I "Get Mail" and Mail is trying to open the .Mac mailbox - this goes on interminably (as I can see in Activity Viewer).
Try using the Rebuild Mailbox function on all server
stored mailboxes. All messages will disappear
temporarily and the mailbox will be resynchronized
with the server.
Sorry for being dense, but I've been all over my Mail application and all over my .Mac settings and I can't find this "Rebuild Mailbox" function. Could you please tell me exactly where I can find this Rebuild Mailbox function?

• ITunes 11 sounds really bad any fix?

I noticed that the new iTunes sounds really bad compared to other players like VLC or Quicktime any idea how to fix this.
I tried to adjust the equalizer and the sound enhancer and no luck, it is definitely not the speakers because the same song sound great with VLC or Quicktime, all I try to download is high bitrate songs like 320 kbps.
Appreciate any help!

Hi Doug,
Not at the moment unfortunately. Apple did use the glass effect shelf dock on the side in the development versions of Leopard, but took it out and only used it on the bottom in the final release because of a few problems with the reflection and stack effects. I'd bet that within a few months they'll be rolling an update out which will give you this option if you really want.

• Convertion from pdf is really bad

Hi !
First, i m pretty ignorant in making pdf form...
I need to make an interractive form from a pdf file (25 pages) given by a friend.
he gave me 2 version of the file, a 'normal' pdf and one in form version (without any calcul or interractivity).
(but it lacks 3 fonts)
I tried to make it with Acrobat :
with both version of the file,
i c'ant find all the events i need in 'Action' tab when i try to add some code on a textBox like 'change', 'docReady'...
But the way i can make the form is really good. In fact i only need to add textbox, radiobutton... i don't want to edit text.
With LiveCycle i create a new document from the pdf and i select interractive. i need to change tooltip, visibility of objects..., wich can t be done with non interractive form (if i understand correctly ?).
my problem is that the converted file is really bad, the convertion log contains a lot of errors.
and it will take me a lot of time to correct, adapt it, plus, images are pixelised ( why ??).
My questons :
Can i make interractive form without converting the document ? like with Acrobat or non interractive forms ?
Is there a way to have a source file instead of the pdf ? wich contains images, fields... so there will be no convertion.
Thanx for reading

Thanks George.
Now the quality is not "really" bad anymore, it is bad. ;-)
The quality got better, but still there is a difference between drawing shapes and cell borders. And the difference is causing problems with customers, who are demanding professional quality.
Here is a .jpg of the original Excel table. The drawing shape is the outer one, the cell borders are the lines beneath the data. Both line types are very delicat. This is how it should be.
And this is how it looks after a pdf-print with setting "high quality print" (2400 dpi).
The outer drawing shape is ok. The thin horizontal lines are twice as thick than before.
I know, it is about details. But those details make the difference between a professional and an amateur performance.
Do you have another idea, how to improve the pdf quality?
Thanks for your help so far, I appreciate it.
