Photoshop CC Saving to network freezes sometimes

I have a coworker that sometimes has trouble saving to the Windows network from Photoshop CC on Windows 7 64-bit. The network is accessed through a mapped drive letter in Windows. The saving process will get stuck somewhere less than 50%, and he has to retry up to 5 times to get it to work.
I saw a post that said Photoshop CC has trouble saving to a network because it is constantly saving and renaming temporary files until it is finished with the saving operation.
How should we configure our network to accomodate Photoshop's behavior?
Off subject: I wish I could email Adobe support, like I can do with every other software company on Earth.

Files saved to network server sometimes get deleted

Hello,
I work as a graphic designer using a year old iMac and latest version of Photoshop CS5.
Every now and then when saving a .psd file with photoshop it will get deleted instead. As an example, lets say I'm working on a brochure cover image. I open photoshop, open the file and work couple of hours on it. Then I save it. File gets deleted and is now no where to be found. Assuming no backups it's lost for good.
Naturally I use backups so this usually only means I've at most lost a days worth of work, but it's still highly irritating as you can get quite a bit done during one day.
What I've figured out so far:
1) Only .psd files get deleted and only by photoshop. Illustrator, Premiere, Indesign are unaffected.
2) Only files that are being saved on network (Buffalo) drive get deleted. Files saved on my macs hard disk have not gone lost so far.
3) It seems that when I use "Save As" the files save correctly. Only when using "Save" do they get deleted.
4) File getting deleted does not happen every time. But it does happen around 20-30% of the time when saving.
My current solution is to keep file browser open at all times. And every time I save file with Photoshop I check it's still there. If it's been deleted I will save it again with new name. As long as it's still open in Photoshop I can still save it.
Due to my work place, saving on the Buffalo is currently the only realistic solution. I realise this is not a Photoshop only problem. It has a lot to do with the network drive as well. How ever as Photoshop is the only program affected it seemed like a good idea to post it here as well. We've been in contact with Buffalo and they deny any knowledge about this problem, so we've hit a brickwall there anyway.
Has anyone else run into this or similar problem? Any suggestions besides taking more backups?

One workaround might be to always do Save As’ as you claim those work; this could be automated with a Script for example.

Photoshop cs6 saving issues

I recently updated photoshop CS6 and now I can only use the "save as" option. What did I do wrong?

Please provide the potentially relevant information (exact Photoshop version, OS, hardware, saving across network vs. saving locally, error message, …).
When confronted with strange behaviour in Photoshop one can always try trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences one has changed.

Problems saving to networked drive

Off and on for some time now I have been having problems saving from Keynote (and sometimes Pages) to a networked drive. I may save once ok, but from then on when I try to 'Save' I get a message that the file cannot be saved. If I save the file under a different name all is ok, at least for a few times before I get the message again. This happens from machines running Tiger or Leopard. The particular 'server' is a machine running 10.4.11 with an attached RAID array - I am logged in under my own account name saving to a volume out on the RAID array. This started when I only had Tiger on all my machines and continues with Tiger on some and Leopard on others. Any suggestions about how I might start attacking this?

A similar thing happens to me with Pages and Numbers.
Although when it happens, I just save it again, and it saves without any problem.
It works but is a little annoying.

Tecra A8 freezes sometimes

Hello,
My Tecra A8 is freezing, sometimes few times a day, sometimes once a week. Only thing I can do is to shut down computer with the on/off button.
Sometimes it doesn't freeze completely, but the network connection falls and mouse only works in intervals. I also noticed once, when I plugged in the USB mouse, LAN stopped working, and when I unplugged the mouse, LAN began working again.
I think that the freezing is also connected with some kind of conflict between mouse and LAN, but device manager doesn't show any conflicts.
I would really appreciate any help. I'm running WIN XP Professional with SP2. Thank you in advance!

May I ask you if you use the Toshiba preinstalled factory image???
This Windows image was tested and checked many times and it should works without any problems!
For me it looks like a software conflict.
So if would be very interesting to know if this strange behavior would happen after the fresh OS installation from the Tosh Recovery CD!

You could try this
Temporarily disable security on your home network
See if the iPad connects
If it does then reset the security - with the same or different password

That depends on why it won't open. Most of the time it means the file is corrupted and unlikely to be recovered. If you saved it right after adding or copying a LOT of layers - then it might just be the layer limit and we can attempt to recover it.

There is no "update icon" in iOS versions earlier than iOS 5.
The update is very large (over 1.2 gigabytes). You need a good internet connection to download it to your computer. Maybe you'll need to take a trip to a city to get a good enough connection.

I've created a "header" in Illustrator. When I send it to someone to be used in a report.. it comes up "blurred" or, with a white background. I tried opening in Photoshop and saving as JPEG, but get same results. What do I do?

Can anyone give me suggestions .. after creating a "logo" or a "header" to be used by someone else in a presentation or report.. I can't figure out how to make the background transparent, and keep the image clear. Created in CS6 Illustrator.. tried opening in Photoshop and saving as JPEG.. no luck.

Have you tried exporting for MS Office?
You could also try exporting as transparent PNG with 144 ppi.
On top of that: don't scale it in Office.

Photoshop CS6 Saving JPEGs as GIF's???

I am doubble clicking my .jpg images from Bridge CS6 into Photoshop CS6 to downsize the image and after i change the image to move across to a forum elsewhere.
The Save As" option gives me all the normal file. options, i click the drop down bar and select JPEG, and then automatically the .jpg image above turns into a .gif file???
I have closed out and tried resaving on several different images of mine and keep getting this .gif once selecting the JPEG, and- .gif setting if i select ok to go forward with the.gif.
I want to save as a simple
JPEG with a size 8 for web forum purpose.
Whats with this?
Please help with this, is it a bug??

******UPDATE- Going through all different file formats, saved everything as something different.
Saving my image as .Photoshop Raw- Saved my Photo as a JPEG then i got to choose size 8 - ok. Done.

To be perfectly clear, you CAN use the Extra Plug-ins Folder specification to point to a separate folder you've created where you have put ONLY your 3rd party plug-ins. It can be a neat way to help organize plug-ins, especially if you don't prefer to copy things into your Photoshop installation area.
Just don't point it anywhere in the installation area for another version of Photoshop.
The basic problem is that many folks, in trying to save time, choose to point their Extra Plug-ins Folder setting to the plug-ins subfolder inside their old Photoshop installation area, thinking that will just make them all available to the new version. The key thing is that the old versions of Photoshop ALSO had put their own Adobe-supplied plug-ins there. The conflict arises when the new version of Photoshop starts and tries to enumerate the plug-ins, including those found in the Extra Plug-ins Folder, it finds overlap between its own plug-ins and the old ones it finds there.

Photoshop not saving preferences

I am having an issue with Photoshop not saving my preferences. I have created my own workspace but everytime I quit the application and restart it I still have to go through and reset all my preferences. Any thoughts on this?

I believe that would be the date that our tech team installed CS5 on my new computer. As a side note, our tech team consists of all PC people, there isn't one Mac expert among them and they didn't seem too confident setting the user accounts up. The entire team has had nothing but issues with our brand new macs + CS5. But I am not sure what part of that is Apple/Adobe/Tech fault.
When I "get info" on the settings folder my user account does not appear in the list. I changed the settings so that everyone has read & write permissions and that solved the problem. But that seems odd to me. Like I might have a much bigger permissions issue...?
