Photoshop CC seems to be totaly unstable.

Open image in ACR make a few adjustments then open in photoshop as a smart object. Copy the background layer and change it to soft light adjust opacity to 20% save the image and then try to add a levels layer. After adjusting the levels photoshop quits. Also cropped the image after copying the background layer. This seems to be a new problem. I think there has been an update to photoshop since I last used it.
Anyone else having this same or similary problem.
Windows 7, 32 bit, 3gb memory, 4 processor cpu.

I did a check on the driver and found a newer version that was released this January.
Here is all of the information on the GPU. It would be nice if Adobe could identify GPU's that are known to have problems.

Never had a problem with this in previous version of PS. Could something be set up or initialized to cause this state of affairs?

Change your document from Grayscale to RGB, or change the selected channel to the RGB data instead of a mask.

You are planning to do a number of things, so let me first make a suggestion about the overall approach. Instead of: "Before I make a clone of my hard drive I would like to fix this problem so I only have one account with everything in it but I do not know what to move ... or how to safely move it", I would make that clone immediately. And leave it alone until you have completed the reconfiguring and rearrangements you plan to do. This way, if you accidentally do something that needs to be undone, your clone is there with all the originals. By the way, this is the approach I always adopt, whenever I have to do anything drastic with an existing installation.
After all the rearranging etc. of the main drive you just make a new clone that erases the previous one.
The "Deano" account doesn't show up when I go to System Preferences:Accounts. So I assume I must have done something wrong.
This would suggest to me there is only one account, i.e. the principal, or Admin account. Why do you think there is a second account?
Where should I keep all my work files?
You can keep them where ever it is most convenient. As you know, you can create folders within folders, and there is nothing special about the Documents folder. Feel free to ignore it, if that's the way you want to work. You can direct your downloads, the default "save to" locations etc. to the appropriate places, as you work.
Can I create a new place for all my work files and just move them? I know I will have to update linked files within the various software packages but this is not a problem.

Photoshop Touch seems corrupted on ICS Motorola XYBOARD 8.2: Bad Screen Flicker

Hi Adobe,
I've checked all the other Adobe apps after receiving a new tablet after a theft and reinstalling all my apps. Photoshop Touch, updated in Sept. 2012, which I've uninstalled and reinstalled again, acts very strange; as soon as you try and load a project or import a file from a local folder the screen starts flickering badly and you basically are unable to choose a file from either the local disk, Creative Cloud, Google, etc. If you start a new project the flicker does go away, but if you try again to import an image, the same thing happens, which basically, for now at least, renders Photoshop Touch for me at least, unusable.
I was kind of expecting to see other people posting about this but haven't seen it which might indicate it's specific to this tablet, which would be really sad.
Anyway, if someone could comment on whether they've heard of this elsewhere or not, and if so, whether there might be a potential fix at some point, I'd appreciate it. Again my other Touch apps, Ideas, Kuler and Collage have no problems like this.

Photoshop CS5 seems very forgetful of settings and locations..

is it just me or is anyone else having problems with Photoshop CS5 forgetting things at time. (27" iMac quad i7 core)
one day it will forget keyboard short cuts, constanstly beeping when I press the space bar to get the move hand, and next day it will work, etc.
and aols a major one now, forgetting locations. in CS4 and earlier when I opened an image from within a folder, and then saved it as a modified version, it would still save it to within the folder the original image was in.
now CS5 seems to forget that on occasions and then save the image to the desktop...
frustrating when using bridge (CS5) as you would doe something in photoshop, switch to bridge (looking within that folder) and suddenly the modified file is not there... and I would search for it...
just me or anyone else having this problem.

I haven't seen the behavior you describe with forgetting the save location, but have run into the issue when certain command keys or menu commands don't work intermittently. I have discovered that much of the time, this can be fixed by selecting a different tool. At times, for instance, it will not let me type command A or use the menu to select all, but as soon as I switch to a different tool, any tool, it lets me. I have found this behavior screws up some actions I often use, as well.

Firefox seems to be very unstable with Windows 7 !!!

it becomes very difficult to work with Firefox. I never had such problems with XP and I'm looking at the same web sites

I can appreciate the patience you exhibited in assisting on the issue above...
I seem to have a similar issue -- I have a brand-new Dell E6510, and one of the first downloads was to install Firefox. After installing a few more apps (AVG antivirus, MS Office 2010 & Ad-Aware), Firefox became extremely unstable, freezing most of the time.
After reading the post above, I killed the Firefox process & restarted in Safe Mode -- and it seemed to work OK, so I exited & restarted it in normal mode to see what Add-Ons were running, and they were:
- AVG Safe Search
- Google Toolbar
- Trend Micro NSC Firefox Extension
I had installed the first two, and the 3rd was a factory install.
Since I wasn't using Trend Micro, I disabled it first, and bingo! the instability has disappeared (at least for now)...
Is there any documentation on any adverse interaction of these three addons?
Also, since this is a 64-bit Windows 7 PC, is there a 64-bit version of FF I shiould be running instead of teh standard version?

Photoshop Elements seems to be stuck when I try to open the Organizer.

When I open Photoshop Elements, it seems to be stuck - it can't seem to find My Pictures on my computer. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Did you import them via the Organizer menu?
File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders
Then navigate to My Pictures and choose all sub-folders.

Printing from photoshop, colors seem too dark

We are printing photos and/or scans of my wife's paintings as well as some of her photography. Using a canon ip4820 and a Red river satin paper (or canvas paper) and the corresponding recommendation from Red river including their icc profile for the specific paper. While the color profile helped slightly, we still cna't seem to get true reproduction. I realize monitor calibration and other things will effect the way we see the photo, but we've viewed the photos on various screens and on the canon t2i lcd screen as well as comparing to the original painting and the prints always look too dark and in some cases the yellows come out too orange. This is all with new canon ink and a new printer. We always have to brighten the images but not being photoshop pros we are not sure if that is the correct thing to do or if there is some other correction or maybe its just that the ip4820 isn't cable of reproduction to that level.
Are there some settings we are missing?

Have the printer manage colors, not Elements. Certainly not both!
Reduce the brightness settings on your monitor, esp. while enhancing with PSE

Photoshop CS4 Seems to Oversaturate?

So, lets say I open the image in ACDsee 2.5 and in CorelDrawX4 Paint or Canon's Zoom Browzer the image looks the same, but when I open the image in Photoshop it looks a little oversaturated. Certain colors look off and I don't understand why.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Photoshop is colour managed. You probably view the images in PS in a wide colour space like Prophoto RGB.
If it's just a few images, then you might apply sRGB to them and then save the images.
Otherwise change your working space to Adobe RGB 1989.

When i draw a rounded rectangle the image is all jagged then if i go and draw another one the first image become nicely curved as would be expeted but then new image in jagged ect is this right.
It like a shape that just draw or selected is badly rendered on the screen but in browser preview its ok

Downgraded from Maverick and now It seems like SL is unstable.

I upgraded to Maverick and started to regret that decision since it felt like the laptop got slower. So I used my installation disk to downgrade again to Snow Leopard. I performed many software updates after installing Snow Leopard.
The OS X (I'm trying to use the correct terminology here) feels unstable and is acting slow and unreliable. Examples:
When I open Appstore the images won't load. This does not only occur with Appstore, but also with websites and documents.
Apps are crashing more often now. It just says that it crashed and asks if I would like to send an error report. This did not happen before I went from Snow Leopard --> Maverick --> Snow Leopard. Can it have something to do with my upgrade of RAM?
I can't install purchased apps from appstore. I get various error messages, here is the latest error message:
I have used the Disk Utility to repair disk permissions and with the 8Gb RAM one would think that this MacBook would be lightning fast.
Please give any hints, tips and tricks. I just want to have a normal, stable system that can do anything and not be slow and sometimes crashing and not loading stuff. Tell me if you need more info about my MacBook.

Photoshop Elements seems not work anymore

As a user of Photoshop Elements 11 on my Apple Notebook, I had a problem today. All the tool buttons did not work anymore and the pictures I wanted to edit were not shown in the workspace, but right under in in an extra window. Because of that problem I removed Elements 11 and I downloaden version 12 from the Apple store. But the problem is still not solved. Anyone familiar with this problem? Suggestions for solutions?@

That library is hidden in recent versions of OS X. To see it, click the the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the Option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account.
Also, if you have a wacom tablet, be sure your drivers are up to date.

A trial of Photoshop CC seems to have killed my old version

I have a purchased version of Photoshop C5 on my computer.
I did a trial of Photoshop CC. I decided it was not worth the upgrade and let it expire. Now, my original version of Photoshop will not start up. It gets to "initializing panels" and then hangs.
What can I do about this?

If your running Windows when you installed Photoshop CC. The CC installer made many Windows registry updates. When you uninstall CC I do not know how good of a job the un-installer does restoring the windows registry old settings.
Without un-installing CS5 try re-installing CS 5 on top of itself. That should retain your CS5 add-ons your preferences for CS5 and fix your windows registry back to its CS5 defaults.
