Photoshop CC Tracking, Kerning, font size MESSED UP

The Photoshop CC Tracking, Kerning, font size is MESSED UP.
If you try to adjust anything by scrubbing it makes a huge number like 40000....
holding ALT doesn't help either... Need a fix for this fast!

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm experiencing an issue that is different, but may be related. It is with the same area in Photoshop CC, but the bug I'm getting is a little different:
I don't have to scrub, I can just type a number like 50 for tracking, and when I hit enter, it changes to 11. 100 changes to 23. 200 changes to 47. If I scrub, I can scrub to a super high number like 6876, and when I release the mouse, it changes to 262. Scrubbing to 336 changes to 12 upon release.
coincidentally, typing in 6876 and 336 gives me results of 1650 and 80 respectively - so apparently when I type in a number it changes to approximately a quarter of its value, but not exactly, where as scrubbing gives me around 1/26th or 1/28th the value. The values given are consistent each time when I type in a number. 200 tracking always converts to 47 for some reason - I don't know about scrubbing..
This started without resizing the text. I just used the T tool. Typed some characters, and then tried adjusting the tracking.
When scrubbing other settings like Font Size and Leading I get this same effect where it jumps down to a much lower number than set. If I manually type in a font size, it works appropriately.
This happened in CS6 and CC. I don't recall what I was working on in the past when this occurred, but today when it started, I am working in Adobe CC on a file that had been created in CS4 or 5, I believe. When I create a new Adobe CC document, I do not experience the issue immediately, but I don't know exactly what the trigger is for the bug.

  • Photoshop Elements file info font size

The text size in Photoshop elements is rather small. By Text I mean the font size for commands.  I can live with it most of the time but when adding text to the File Info field I find it very hard to read and check spellling.  Is there any way to increase font size or magnify what one sees.  For example in Windows, Control Panel, Display I can adjust the display font size but that seems to have no effect in PE.  Any ideas?

Yes, even if you set the UI font size to 200%, that has no effect on the font size of the Information dialog in the editor.
My suggestion is to use the Organizer to input your information. I have set the font size in Windows (not in Elements) to 125% for my 1920 x 1200 24" display.
It's comfortable to input file properties in the Information panel on the right. For the IPTC data, click on the icon with three dots to open the IPTC dialog.

  • All of a sudden I can't change my Photoshop CS4 Font size any larger than 18px.  What did I do?

    Hi
I was working on a logo today in Photoshop.  I clicked on the font size to increase the text size from 18px to 30px.  I got a message that I couldn't go any larger than 18 px.  Any idea how to fix this???
    Thanks

  • How to change font size for tracks in Songs view, iTunes 11?

I'm wondering which field in TextStyles.plist for the new iTunes 11 (I've gotten rid of Helvetica for Lucida Grande thanks to another forum on here!) - controls the font size for track title, time, artist, album, etc. as seen here - I would like to have it smaller, and have been playing around on several forums and not found the magical field to get that exact thing smaller. Many thanks in advance.

You're going to love me forever:

    <string>List Contents (Small)</string>
    <key>font</key>
    <string>HelveticaNeue</string>
    <key>size</key>
    <integer>12</integer>
    </dict>
It's that interger "12" that's determines the size. Adjust it until you're happy—provided that it's an interger.
I actually go with "HelveticaNeue" with a size of 11. I like to see lots of tabular information at once, horizontally, without changing my resolution… within reason, e.g. Fiona Apple album titles still have ellipses.
An unfortunate aspect to this is that the row height isn't altered unless the font size specified is greater than 12—the font takes the row height along for the ride when it's bigger, but the row doesn't come along for the ride when the font gets smaller. It's likely you could change the minimum row height to be lower, in some other plist—search for something like "list contents (small)" or "list (small)" or whatever—but I don't know where that would be found, or if it could be found at all.
Nonetheless, this should address your query.

Thank you so much.  You are absolutely right.  I will have to reduce the screen density when I work with those programs.

You can't. Any version before Creative Cloud does not support high-DPI displays and that is just that. If you cannot adjust the system's screen resolution and so on, then there is nothing you can do.

  • Photoshop will only let me use custom font sizes

    Hello
I've been having a strange issue for awhile that I thought would eventually go away with an update but hasn't. Having used photoshop for years, I've always been able to click in the text size menu of the character panel and either type in a pt size or increment larger or smaller with my up and down arrows on the keyboard. I can no longer do that -- when I try to type in the new font size -- say 25 -- my text is actually replaced with the numbers "25" and the font size stays the same. If I choose a default size from the drop down menu (18, 24, 36, 48, etc) it will change size but I'm not able to enter any custom sizes. I get the same behaviour in the option bar.
I'm using the most up to date version of CC on an late 2012 Imac 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5 running the most recent version of Mavericks ( OS X 10.9.2 (13C64)), but this has been happening since Mountain Lion and atleast the first version of CC, possibly CS6.
It doesn't matter what font I use and happens on every document. I've also tried to reset the tools and delete the preferences.
I do use the no-longer -supported free version of Linotype Explorer but it seems more like a photoshop issue.
This is obviously really frustrating and I haven't been able to find anyone else with the exact problem. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

The key combos still work for changing type point size, just not in Preferences-controlled-increments (instead, whole point sizes, 1 point at a time) -- and you can also input any point size. Are you using the Character Palette?
On Mac, "Command-Shift->" increases the point size 1 point, and "Command-Shift-<" reduces it by 1 point size (if the type is selected).
If you use the Character Palette (Command-T on Mac), you can input any point size you want, up to 1/1000th of a point: 24.582 pt. size, for example.

Is a readable interface an unreasonable expectation?
Not at all, and we should well expect that Adobe is working on it.  By their own admission they ARE working on it.  I don't sense "deafening silence" at all.  But results won't/can't be instantaneous and they're not going to promise you release dates.  Life is not like that, no matter how many times you click your red shoes together.
It's not hard to understand that right now only a small minority of Photoshop users are running high dpi screens that can't take advantage of the 200% setting.  And it was the choice of those users to buy such hardware even in light of the fact that Photoshop can't work fully well on it yet.  Adobe didn't force anyone to buy a 150 ppi display.
Frankly, if you've chosen such hardware even though Photoshop doesn't offer 150% scaling, it's your own fault.  I recently invested well over $1000 in a new monitor and I planned well enough ahead to buy a 100ppi model (Dell U3014, and it's GREAT).  There's a reason that very new technology is called "bleeding edge".  If you want "To Work" instead of "Dealing With Quirks", sometimes you have to be conservative.
A majority of Photoshop users DO expect new and useful features, however, such as new tools, new camera support in Camera Raw, etc., so Adobe understandably cannot dedicate every resource they have to revamping Photoshop's user interface just for a special few folks who have irresponsibly adopted new display technology.
We can debate all day how much Adobe ought to be spending on engineering development, but you and I don't run the company.  We don't make business decisions for them.  I do, however, claim to understand their capabilities and limitations - possibly better than most - because I'm in the same business.
I can only recommend you be patient.  One day Photoshop will respond to your desktop settings.
What the heck has anybody ever accomplished here, with Adobe, in either fashion?
Rhetorical or not, some quite tangible things do come to mind...
At one time I couldn’t paste my clipboard containing a grayscale image into a new document via an action assigned to a key; the color engine would crash.  Today I can do so without incident.
At one time multiple Help windows would pop up unexpectedly, often when working in the Styles panel.  Today they don’t.
At one time I had to select Basic GPU mode.  Today I use Advanced GPU mode without a problem.
Once running Liquify or Smart Sharpen or a number of other things were slow, especially on big images.  Now they're quite fast, with GPU acceleration.
At one time an action could not write data back to a document when in windowed mode.  Today it works.
At one time panorama stitching and focus stacking did not work.  Now it works.
At one time most filters only worked on 8 bits/channel data.  Now many of them can handle 16 bits/channel.
Once naysayers predicted that the Photoshop Photography bundle would shoot up in price.  Yet today it's still $9.99 a month.
Once it was impossible to read Photoshop's UI on a 200+ ppi screen.  Now there's a new 200% setting for that.
I'm sure I can think of other things.  And of course the software isn't perfect today.  It never will be absolutely perfect.
Station_two, are you keeping up with the latest Photoshop releases?  If not, I submit that your rhetoric may be falling out of date.

  • Font sizes between  Photoshop and Edge - Any Accurate conversion table?

I have been trying to make sense of the font sizes between  Photoshop and Edge. It seems that the conversion tables I have found do not actually give the right numbers and I am wondering if there is a table from Adobe that would make it easy to have the right size rather than an approximation.
I prefer to use text in Edge rather than Photoshop for many different reasons one being dynamic text.
For example a font in Photoshop in a 780 x 475 image is 8pt - In Edge, according to conversion tables it should be 11 px but it is totally wrong. It needs to be closer to 30 px to be about the same.
So, Adobe Team, any documentation on that?

By the way, I have to correct the numbers but they still do not make too much sense. The artist gave me a 300 dpi file so of course the px size what wrong. After converting the file to 72 dpi, the font size happens to be 33.33 pt or 40 px which is now way too big in Edge.  It looks like the size my just be the same 33.33 pt would be 33.33 px. Is this correct?

Have you noticed any difference between your MacBook and others at the Apple store? Wondering whether this is a configurable setting at the system level, i.e., DPI.
You can default Firefox to a larger zoom level to avoid having to zoom every page. You'll still be able to adjust the size for individual sites as needed. It sounds as though you are aware of these add-ons:
    * Default FullZoom Level: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
    * NoSquint: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/
There are some discussions about changing coming in Firefox 22 (I think) to address higher density displays like the Retina display. So perhaps there will be a built-in setting to address this in the future.

  • I cannot change my font size in photoshop?

I am unable to change the font size in PS, if I shut down everything and restart, sometimes it will help, but I cannot do this all the time.  I use Mac,  I called help last week, they deleted my preferences and made new folder, but it did not seem to help, anyone know a fix for this?  Thank you

When you reset Preferences, did you see the following dialog box, and click Yes?
Can you confirm that Preferences is definitely reset?  Try making some changes.  Restart Photoshop and open Preferences to see if the change you made survived the restart — to test that the Preferences file is not corrupted and read only.
