Photoshop CC versus photoshop CC 2014

I'm confused! After a recent CC update (I believe) I now have PS CC and PS CC 2014. Is the '2014' the official PS version for CC and, therefore should I 'delete/remove' PS CC?
If that is the right thing to do then why didn't the 'update' do it automatically?
I have reloaded all my actions and plugins so I guess deleting PS CC shouldn't be an issue BUT I just want to get support from you guys/gals.
Thanks,
Rich

  • Photoshop CS3 versus Photoshop CS4

    Hi
    I have Lightroom 2.3
    Photoshop CS3
    Mac OS X 10.5.6.
After editing Photo in Lightroom my transfer to CS3 came up with the following message:
"This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 5.3 for full compatibility.
Camera Raw version 4.6. is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3.  If raw file support for your camera was introduced after Camera aw 4.6., the Photoshop integration features in Lightroom require CS4 and the latest Camera Raw version 5 plug-in.
The version of the Camera Raw plug-in currently installed is 4_6."
Unfortunately I partially read this message. and
Immediately downloaded camera raw 5_3. - Thus was unable to install the newly downloaded camera raw 5_3.  However I installed the camera profiles ( not related to my Nikon D80).
    1.  Should I uninstall the camera profiles?  if so How to?
    2.  Do Photoshop CS3 users have to continue work /edit photos with less up-to date  perhaps lack of Camera Raw developments?
    thank you
    Sue

The highest version of Adobe Camera Raw that will work with CS3 is ACR 4.6, which is incompatible with the raw conversion engine used in Lightroom 2.3.  There is nothing you can do about that other than upgrading to CS4.
The functionality of ACR 5.3 is so far superior to ACR 4.6 that the upgrade to CS4 is a no-brainer.  Really.

If they really got installed, you can locate them and put them in the trash.
    HardDrive/ Library/ Application Support/ Adobe/ Camera Raw/ Camera Profiles/ …

Yes.  That's why I wrote that the upgrade to CS4 is a no-brainer.

From my personal experience, I wouldn't go for an Integrated card. This is one of the most important components for Photoshop, so invest in a decent graphics card (ATI or NVidia). It doesn't have to be a really exepensive one - I have been using ATI Radeon with 256MB of RAM on my Dell Studio for almost two years and it still rocks! (even when I work with 3D in Ps CS5 Extended).
I would also invest in more RAM (this can be added easily - I bought extra 4GB as my Studio came with 3GB).
I wouldn't worry about the processor - I'm on Intel Core 2 Duo - and it works very very well, it's very quick which is very important as I'm training Photoshop.
    I hope this helps.

  • Why do I have on my computer three different versions of Adobe Photoshop: CC (64 Bit), CC 2014 and CC?

    Hello commnunity,
I have some questions about the different versions of Adobe CC installed on my computer. Is not only with Photoshop, also with Illustrator and InDesign.
Which of the three versions of Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator or InDesign is the latest?
Why do I have on my computer three different versions of Adobe Photoshop: CC (64 Bit), CC 2014 and CC? Every one of them is installed in a different directory of my computer.
Which one should I have installed on a computer with windows 7 pro 64 bit?
Can I uninstall the older versions?
    Thank you so much.
    Alfonso

CC 2014 should be the latest version.  You can uninstall any others if you choose to.

  • Startup Script missing after uninstalling old Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign CC - although I kept Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign CC 2014!! Any help would be highly appreciated! Thank you in advance :)

  • Migration from Photoshop CC to Photoshop CC 2014 looses all settings?

    Hi!
I installed Photoshop CC 2014, started it and agreed to migrate the Photoshop CC setting to Photoshop CC 2014.
But all my workbench settings are gone. And some of my performance settings also.
Please fix that. In my case, it's already too late, but perhaps it will help others.
    Thanks.
    Regards

The install of 2014 doesn't move or copy anything from a previous version, with the exception of settings. You can go into your Photoshop CC installation folder, navigate to your plugins folder and then just copy all the plugins you've installed from that folder and into the Photoshop CC 2014 plugins folder. The plugins should then be available in 2014 the next time you launch Photoshop.
The only thing that may prevent this from working is if you're using the 32bit version of Photoshop CC. Photoshop CC 2014 is 64bit only so 32bit plugins don't work. If this is the case for you, check out the manufacturer of the plugins and see if they have 64bit versions available.

CC 2014 uses NEW plugins https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1499663
-so do not uninstall the older CC programs if you use plugins in your programs

  • How do I migrate my plugins from Photoshop CC to Photoshop CC 2014

How do I migrate my plugins from Photoshop CC to Photoshop CC 2014? e.g. Nik plugins, Alien Skin etc ...

For a quick fix, I made an alias of the Plug-ins folder in Photoshop CC and dropped in in the Plug-ins folder for Photoshop CC 2014. Everything I have tested so far seems to be working. This includes Alien Skin, Nik Collection, Topaz Labs, MacPhun Software, DxO, and Perfect Photo Suite.

  • CC shows two versions of Photoshop: Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC (2014)

My CC subscription shows two versions of Photoshop. I tried to open both versions. Photoshop CC opened, Photoshop CC (2014) would not. I deleted it. Now CC shows one update available: Photoshop CC (2014). Anyone know what CC is doing?

    John,
Thank you. Your guidance was spot on.
The following comment is for Adobe:
We have all seen the transition over time of the way software updates happen. I remember virus programs doing things like:
It has been two weeks since I checked for updated virus signatures. Shall I check now? Yes
There is a new virus signature available. Shall I download it? Yes
I have downloaded the new virus signature. Shall I install it? Yes
I have installed the new virus signature, but must restart the virus program to use it. Shall I do that? Yes
I have rebooted the virus program and all is fine. OK.
I was really enjoying how Adobe would update the versions of their products in the Creative Cloud, and waiting for the day I'd have to trigger the activity. What I'd like is for Adobe to just do it. The way Apple has sort of standardized app updating is that you can adjust a setting and it will install updates automatically. Many vendors have a "What's new" screen that opens the first time after upgrading so you can see what's new. In the case when your concurrence is needed before installation, the upgrade is downloaded in the background and some descriptive information is provided so you can decide if you want to do it (this is typically for IOS major upgrades).
Adobe didn't handle the Photoshop CC to Photoshop CC (2014) well. I was very happy to lose the designator of which version I have. The version I want is: Latest. The two versions appeared (Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC (2014)) without explanation. John's instructions (above) indicated that you need to uninstall Photoshop CC, shut down and then restart the Creative Cloud App, then download and install the new version. Why did I have to go through a forum entry when Adobe could have simply put a line under Photoshop CC (2014) that said "Important: read this" and then provided an explanation of what's going on and how to do it. (BTW, that is a mediocre solution. The right solution would be to tell you what's up and then give you the option to click on a button which would have triggered all the steps to replace one version with the other.)
So, bottom line, I have never been an Adobe fan. I moved to Lightroom because of the Photography special offer and I am hooked. Updating Lightroom to support iPads and iPhones was just super. My expectations soared. This update didn't meet them.
But, have a nice day anyway!

  • Will I have to reinstall all my plugins that I have in Photoshop CC into Photoshop CC 2014 since they did not migrate?

will I have to reinstall all my plugins that I have in Photoshop CC into Photoshop CC 2014 since they did not migrate?

Linking to self-contained plug-ins via a shortcut can be a good way to keep things organized, but be aware of one thing:
Many plug-ins today are not truly self-contained, but actually install additional things like DLL files into the Photoshop installation area itself (something I regard as a bad practice).  What this means is even if you are to link to another place from the plug-ins subfolder under the new Photoshop CC (2014) installation area, your plug-ins may not all run properly.  If they have an installer, your best approach is to use the installer.

  • Photoshop CC or Photoshop CC 2014?

I have Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC 2014 on my machine. Which is better i.e. less issues, updated tools, etc? I just had CC 2014 crash on me. Any thoughts appreciated.

You need to look at where the crash is often they are caused bey old Video Drivers GPU  support look at your system crash reports for the CC 2014 crashes.

I recently purchased an upgrade to Photoshop CS6. (Dec 9 2014).  I have today downloaded the file (Photoshop_13_LS16.7z
    This downloaded OK
When I tried to run the file (Winzip) I got the following message
"Installer failed to initialise. Could be due to a missing file.  Please download Abobe support adviser."
I tried to do that and it told me Adobe support adviser no longer exists.
Could you please advise a solution.

Extract it to a different location inside a dedicated folder and make sure to not destroy the file and folder hierarchy inside the archive. also run the install with sufficient user privielges and security stuff turned off.
