Photoshop CC vs. Lightroom 5 vs. Elements--for microscopic Immunoflourescent image editing.

I recently had a trail for Photoshop CC and I was using it to edit photos taken on a microscope. Essentially, I am adjusting the exposure/brightness/color of three different pictures (with three different colors) and I would like to layer those 3 on top of each other as one photo. I had the tools to do this in CC, but I am wondering if Lightroom 5 or Elements has the same capabilities. If so, where can those tools be found. Thank you

Lightroom, no. You need a graphics editor. If Photoshop Extended does what you need, why not keep using it? Creative Cloud Photography plan | Adobe Creative Cloud
Elements is a significantly simpler version of Photoshop. It might do what you need but it lacks the finer bells & whistles offered by Extended.

Lightroom or Elements for a simple purpose - RAW to black&white

Hi,
I have no experience whatsoever with digital photography, I've been working on analogue for several years now, but want to give it a try...
The thing is that I'm looking for a software, which will allow me:
- possibility to convert color RAW from camera into black&white RAW, then export as a JPEG (I'd like to have a chance to enhance the contrast etc. on the RAW in b&w before having a final file, and maybe add option of plugins as NIK Silver Efex in the future if I feel a need for it)
- add white frame around the JPEG, of which size I could choose, and maybe add my name/logo + date on the frame
I'm confused and don't know which software would allow me to do that two, simple things - Lightroom or Elements?

Elements is more limited in how to adjust the colors to black-and-white.
Lightroom has more sophisticated adjustments. These adjustments are the same as in the Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop, but absent in the Camera Raw plug-in for Elements. The adjustments allow you to enhance the contrast and brightness of the gray-level for narrow ranges of original colors instead of a simple removal of color with a default color-balance or clicking on a preset that Elements has.

BTW, I am a photo-hobbyist and use Lightroom every day, so it’s not just for professionals making money off their photos that need something fast. For me it is more about seriousness and perfection and freedom.

Invoking Photoshop CS5 from Lightroom 4 asks for Camera Raw Plug-in 7.0

I have just downloaded and installed Adobe Lightroom 4.0. When I try to invoke "Photo / Edit in Photoshop CS 5.1" I get the warning "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 7.0 for full compatibility. Please update the camera raw plug-in using the update tool available in the Photoshop help menu". However, the update function in Photoshop CS5.1 says that there are no updates available and searching adobe.com I can find no references to Camera Raw plug-in 7.0. What is one to do? Thanks.

No, the warning is not the issue. As I've said, "supported cameras" are not the problem.
I do initial processing on my images, then using Lightroom CMD E push them to Photoshop for further editing. The message says "7.0 may be required for full compatibility" should I ignore that warning and click "Open Anyway" because there really aren't any compatibility issues?
LR 4 Develop module is much different than LR 3, just as CS5 version of ACR is different than what I've seen in the CS6 beta. My assumption is there would be compatibility issues - as the warning says - when using LR4's develop engine then passing it on to CS5. I don't use ACR in Photoshop since I use Lightroom, I use Photoshop for detailed image editing in conjunction with the Nik Software selective tool run as a window within Photoshop.
So how about a clear answer: Just click "Open Anyway" and everything will work great? When I first work on an image in LR4, then further edit it in Photoshop CS5 with ACR 6.7 installed, Save and Close the image in Photoshop sending it back to Lightroom it will all work just like yesterday when I did all that in Lightroom 3 without any error messages?

Looking for a freeware image editing/creation tool.

Hi I have been looking around everywhere online for a free small download programme or two I need to be able to open up images, resize them, edit them a little and save them but as either a jpeg, gif or png file - I haven't been able to find any that saves them as any of those file types.
But if there is one something similar to photoshop like that would be good to create web layouts so i would need to be able to copy and paste images into a new image cut out sections and well you know what you need to be able to make web layouts.

Seashore is opensource, and uses Cocoa. It doesn't have all those fancy filters and effects, but it's easy to use and quite a small download.

Lightroom VS Photoshop Elements for Beginners

Hey Everyone!
I am creating a website for beginners on computers and other home electronics and I am going to do a post about what the best program is to get for a beginner at photo editing. I have seen so many people using Photoshop Elements to start out with but many people who have gotten editing programs prefer Lightroom and use it and say its a better program to begin with... Do you have any suggestions on which I should tell poeple to go with? They each have strength and weaknesses. LR for example has the same full RAW processor as full Photoshop, but doesn't have the full range of image editing features.
There isn't a simple answer. I think you would be better off reviewing both and pointing out the differences so that your blog audience can make an informed decision for themselves.

I have trial versions of Lightroom and Elements 11. "Edit in Photoshop.." does not open the image

Using trial versions of Lightroom and Elements 11, th ecommand to "Edit in Photoshop Elements 11" succeeds in opening Photoshop but fails to open the image. Any ideas?

I have the same problem with PS Elements 13 trial version (fully updated), but sadly this solution doesn't work... there is no 'Support Files' folder, and nothing called 'Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app' anywhere else.
Any thoughts?

While watching a video of Photoshop World, it was announced at the end that Adobe were going to put Photoshop cc and Lightroom cc together for a subscription of 10 dollars a month, when will this happen and will it be passed on to UK users as well.

Reimport image after modifying in Photoshop CC from Lightroom 5.3

Tilla week ago I used to work on a PC. When modifying an image from Lightroom into Photoshop 6 the image was automatically reimported in the origin folder,
I am now on a MacPro and when I modify an image in Photoshop CC from Lightroom 5.3 it reimports the image in a ghost directory with the same name than the origin directory. It is accessible but seen as a different diretctory with the same name. When I try to copy the image in the origin directory I have a message that an image with the same name is already present in the directory. It can not be seen and I can not pile the new and old images together. What can I do?

Photoshop VS Elements for a new digital scrapbooker?

I really need advise about which Adobe product to use. I have very little experience with Elements 9 so basically, I am a total newbie. I take photos as a hobby and
now am getting into digital scrapbooking. After research and talking with a few photographers, I realize Lightroom is amazing for the photo side of things and organizing/editing them.
What I really need advise on is the digital scrapbooking side of things. Most digital scrapbookers promote Elements. I am considering joining the cloud which I believe comes with
the Photoshop and the Lightroom. I have read that Photoshop is basically unlimited with the power it has but also comes with a huge learning curve. Remember I am a newbie at this
but willing to dig in and learn either program. Most of the digital scrapbooking kits you can get online come in jpg, tiff & png formats. What you describe sounds like you're trying to use digital with analog speakers. What make/model speakers do you have? Did they come from Dell?

You can. select the image you want to edit externally then :-
In the top toolbar Go to :- Photo, Edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor
If this isn't working got to :-
Edit, Preferences, External Editing
.....and check that Ps Elements is set there. You are able to set two external editors.

Yes you can store images on an external hard dive and have them referenced in Organizer. It’s best to export copies to separate folders/subfolders and that will ensure iPhoto does not get corrupted.
Alternatively you could continue to use iPhoto with the Elements Editor set up in the iPhoto prefs as your external editing app. Then there is no need to use Organizer and no need to duplicate your images.
You can then call up photos directly from iPhoto as normal with the additional option e.g.
Double-click on a thumbnail to edit in iPhoto editor.
Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in the elements app.
