Photoshop CC with Folder Redirection

We use Photoshop CC in our art department for some of our work, and we're upgrading our infrastructure. We're going to be moving to a domain-level environment, with folder redirection for Documents and our artwork, so that changes are accessible and saved in a central location. I've been reading up on FR and Adobe, along with storage and access of files across the network, and everything I've read seems to indicate that PS does not play well with anything.
Brief overview:
Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 Machines.
C: Drive, where all files & programs reside.
Users will be local admins, AppData and everything else will remain on their computers.
Folders to be redirected across the network will be Documents and Artwork, where artwork resides.
We don't do animation or anything that requires a huge overhead and separate scratch disks. I just want to know if I can have the folders redirect- I've had too many issues with people not copying local versions to the server and want to fix that the most transparent way possible.

I assume you're running Photoshop CC (not sure what you mean by "with CS3" unless that's the version you upgraded to CC from)

1.) What are you doing with the App-V Icon path? e.g. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Integration\<GUID>\Root\AppVClientUX.exe.0.ico ?
I guess you could workaround it with deploying the icons to a central location and then pointing to the icon out on a central share. Or put the icons in a machine location...I haven't had this issue but that's just off the top of my head.
2.) I have not used App-V 4.6 in an environment like yours BUT would pre-caching the applications be possible? Any chance you'll be moving those apps into App-V 5.0 soon?

  • Files won't delete from desktop with folder redirection

I have folder direction set up with a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard x64 Primary Domain Controller and a 2012R2Stdx64 File and Print Server that is the backup domain controller. 1 single user out of 20 can't delete files from his desktop.
Folder redirection is configured via GPO and offline files are enabled.
When you go to delete a file it says "Item Not Found" "This is no longer located in \\HSI-FPS01\Users\My Documents\Desktop Verify the item's location and try again."
However, the item still persists in showing, both in the server folder and the desktop however you can't open it.
There are no sync errors, I've done re-syncs. I've also rebooted, refreshed the desktop, etc.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your post.
Only one user have this issue?
I suggest you create a new user account to test folder redirection.

  • How to install and migrate a single DC to a new DC with folder redirection.

    Greeting's,
I have a Windows Server 2012 running AD services. There is folder redirection enabled to facilitate user's logging in from a different machine and still being able access their personal files. Folder redirection is configured exactly as per following
    microsoft document : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/hh848267.aspx
Even administrators cannot access user files due to ACL's.
I need to migrate from this AD server to a new one, including user files. Old server will be recommissioned for other role. How can I do this seamlessly?
Thank you very much in advance,
    Parth D. Maniar

This is how I migrate redirected folders
Remove the setting to move content and set it so that it leaves path when policy is removed
    Start a system cmd: psexec -i -s -d cmd
From this system cmd, robocopy all files to new server with permissions
Migrate shares by exporting/importing registry keys support.microsoft.com/kb/125996
Create new policy with new server name -OR- use cname/a host record
And ALWAYS enable "Verify old and new Folder Redirection targets point to the same share before redirecting" GPO

  • ICloud can't sign in on Domain desktop with Folder Redirection

I've been struggling with this issue since the day that the version of iCloud came out for Windows; I just upgraded to iCloud 4.0 and no improvement.
I am trying to use iCloud on my Windows 7 Professional 64bit domain joined desktop.  Unfortunately the control panel login screen pinwheel keeps spinning and never succeeds.   Months of researching on the Internet suggests that the cause is the GPO settings for folder redirection (see below), specifically Application Data (see below); i have confirmed it.  I have tried a new account on the same computer that does not have this policy applied and was successful logging in.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this?  I can't seem to get Apple's attention.

I am having a simlar problem with my iphone6. It refuses to recognise skype name or password. I can log in fine on my desktop but not on my phone. I have tired several password changes and still it will not work on my iphone6. Any ideas?

  • Issue with Folder Redirection in W2008R2

Good Day, System description: 1. W2k3 Domain Controller 2. 2 servers W2k8 R2 fully patched as domain members servicing RDS. Let's call them Server1 and Server2 3. Users have roaming profiles AND folder redirection because we use HP thin clients and i don't
want their profiles to be permanent lay on the Server system drives. Both profiles and redirected folders exist in a drive on Server1. 4. Different OU's in Active Directory for Servers and Users. My problem is the following: When a new user does the initial
login, in order to create his profile, on Server1, the profile is created "correctly" but he can't login to Server2 afterward. When he does, redirected folders doesn't apply correctly and the error: "Failed to apply policy and redirect folder
"Start Menu" to "\\Server1\userdata$\fotios\Start Menu". Redirection options=0x9231. The following error occurred: "Failed to build the list of regular subfolders under "\\Server2\userdata$\fotios\Start Menu"". Error
details: "The network name cannot be found." with Event ID 502 appears. Of course this error appear for all redirected folders. If however, they do the initial login on Server2, then everything is correct. Profile is created correctly and the user
can login to both servers without redirection problems. By digging deeper i discovered that for the users with problem (initial at Server1) in the HKUsers\....\User Shell Folders key, the values referring to redirected folders appear as \\%Computername%\...
instead of the configured redirection path. Users without problem (initial at Server2) have the correct pathname value. Both servers have identical setup and policies. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Kostas

This is what I found to resolve the problem and I believe the solution to the problem is fairly simple.
Do these steps from the server:
1.) make sure you have a folder named with the user account name in redirected folder location.
2.) make sure the user has full control of the folder.
3.) make sure that the user, not the administrator, is the owner of the folder.
From the workstation, logged in as the user:
4.) create the sub-folders for redirection such as "Desktop", Favorites, etc. under the user's redirected folder.
5.) Log off/on as the user.
6.) check to see that the files have been moved to the redirected folder and have been removed from user profile.
You should experience a long logon period during this initial sync if there is significant user data.  This is a good sign that the data is being moved and redirected folders are working.  Don't interrupt the process!
You can of course do some limited automation or copy/paste operations to resolve the problem for multiple users.
    I hope this helps.

  • Inbox subfolers are not syncing, even with Folder Redirection enabled...

    Good morning!
I just had to rebuild a BES box using the Xpress Server software 5.0.1. After reactivating all the phones, I noticed that the subfolders were all empty. Here is what I did...
    1. I double checked the Web Desktop Manager to ensure that the redirection was turned on.
    2. Enabled folder redirection on the handheld and SELECTED ALL subfolders.
                 a. I read that the messages would have to be moved to another folder, then readded for the  sync to catch, so I did...
    3. Gave it 1/2 hour and it still didn't work...
    Any ideas folks?

these messages do not show on the device at all? Go to messages > menu > view folder > pick a subfolder. Do they show there?

  • Folder redirection with Offline files enabled - Can I change the location of the locally cached files?

I have a 2012 r2 server setup with folder redirection and offline files enabled. All this works perfectly.
As you probably know, the local cache for offline files is stored at c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace\servername\
The problem I have run into is that one user (who cannot be told to delete files cough ceo cough) has a very large documents folder, and a small SSD drive for his C drive. So the offline files are filling up his SSD. He wants all his files to be synced,
so decreasing the max disk usage is also not an option.
What I would like to do is move the Offline files to his D drive which is a large drive, however I have been unable to find any official method for doing this. Is there any provision to change this?
If not, would it work to move the entire \servername\ path to the d drive and then create a junction at c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace\servername\ that points to d:\servername\?
    Thanks,
    Travis

    Hi,
The following article is for Windows Vista but it should work at least in Windows 7.
How to change the location of the CSC folder by configuring the CacheLocation registry value in Windows Vista
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937475
Meanwhile creating a symbolic link should also work like:
    mklink /d "C:\Windows\CSC" "D:\CSC"
Note: It will create d:\csc folder so you do not need to manually create it.
Note 2: As mentioned above, you may need to re-sync the offline files. Personally I also think robocopy will not work.

  • Folder redirection configured in GPO does not create Documents folder and does not redirect

    Hi
Another Folder Redirect-post - sorry for that, but I could not find an answer for my problem so far: even with consulting many threads here...
We have an existing environment under Windows XP and want to move away from that. Now I ran into troubles with folder redirection...
The following folder- and permission structure exists so far:
\\<server>\<Users$-share>: This is the base folder for all users-directories
-> Permissions: SYSTEM: Full / Administrators: Full / Users: Read&Execute, only this folder
-> Share-permissions: Authenticated users: Full control
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>: base folder for the specific user
-> Permissions: SYSTEM: Full / Administrators: Full / User: Change, all permissions inherited onwards
-> Giving only change permission prevent further problems with self-called "advanced users"... ;-)
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\profil.V2: Profile directory of the user
-> Of course here the permissions are set by the system: override the predefined permission
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\daten: Atcual Home directory of the user
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\daten\Documents: Suposed Documents directory of the user
Now I am going to Server 2012 and Windows 8.1, configured the GPO to redirect Documents folder into the above mentioned:
GPO - User configuration - Policies - Windows settings - Folder Redirection - Documents:
Setting: Standart - redirects all folders to the same path
Destination folder: Copy to base directory of the user
I apply policy to the user, log out and in - it doesn't work, no folder Documents created in my home-folder, Folder Documents still configured at C:\Users\<user>\Documents
    A very special point:
I also do Redirection of the My Pictures-folder: Define it to follow the Documents folder. Funnily that one works and creates and configures \\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\daten\Pictures
-> So in my eyes, it should work!
Then: I want to do the folder redirection without Offline Files, due to the fact, that our users work with dynamically assigned virtual desktops, which are been cleaned everytime a user logs off a machine. Therefore synchronizing doesn't make sense...
I just cannot see, why this redirection does not work :-(
Thank you very much for any help!
    Kind regards
    David

    Hi David,
Before going further, would you please let me confirm the OS version of the Windows Server which you used to
configure folder redirection? Based on your description, did you mean that those users (who will be applied folder redirection settings) logged on Windows XP client computer?
When you configure the folder redirection setting in Document Properties (path:
User Configuration-> Policies-> Windows Settings-> Folder Redirection-> Documents), please check if you checked “Also apply redirection policy to Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 operating system” in Settings
    tab. As below picture shows.
    à
GPO - User configuration - Policies - Windows settings - Folder Redirection - Documents:
    à•Setting: Standart
    - redirects all folders to the same path
    à•Destination
folder: Copy to base directory of the user
Would you please provide a screenshot of those settings you describe? Meanwhile, please summarily describe
that how you configure. For example, where this GPO link to? Or any other. It will help me to understand clearly. Thanks for your understanding.
    In addition, please use
gpresult command to check if the folder redirection group policy was really applied.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • Windows 8 - Folder Redirection policy missing from GP Results.

Hi guys! This has been giving me a hard time the last day or so.  I've got some Win8 machines in our 2003 domain. I've got some GPO's applying with WMI filtering for win8 machines. Mostly these are ok, but i'm having a huge problem with Desktop Folder
    Redirection.
After a fresh build and first login, everything works fine. Drive mappings are all there and the Desktop is redirected to to users home drive on the file server. This is being done with Advanced settings using group membership and set to "Create a folder
for each user under the root path" \\dfs1\users. This location is correct and permissions are fine of course as everything works for a while.
After a little while or some unknown event, this redirection stops working.
check these two screengrabs. These are different users on different machines. The machines are identical, are in the same OU and have the same image. The users are different but have the same group memberships and are in the same OU.
This is a working machine. Not the Folder Redirection component was processed and the Policy exists.
This machine is not working. Folder Redirection is processed, but the Policy is missing. Running a gpresult /v on this machine yields:
     Folder Redirection
         N/A
It was working fine yesterday and this morning. Now at some point a policy refresh stopped it from working. Just trying to figure out what! These are the exact settings currently in place for our win 7 machines which all work just fine. Going a bit crazy
tbh and usually when i post questions i figure it out shortly afterwards anyway huhu. Any help is appreciated!

well I though this issue was gone when I switched to a new Task Sequence in SCCM every machine that was built with that was working fine with Folder Redirection happening as it's meant to be. That was for about a week, now it's back to not working.

    Hi,
There is no such PowerShell command can achiev this. Maybe you can use a script to get the user name with folder redirection enabled. However, I am not familiar with writing script, and it would be better for you to ask in script forum below for professional

  • How i can export and distribute setting; network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris" to all computers in the network (With Folder Rederiction enabled)?

    Hi,
We are about to enable SSO in our environment. As a result, I need to modify the value for user_pref("network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris", "my domain");>>prefs.js.
I created a simple .bat file to make the necessary mod and add the line to pref.js. When I run the file it outputs the prefs.js to the same location, not the Mozilla AppData folder. We are a Win7 environment with folder redirection enabled. Therefore, our user's Mozilla AppData folder is located at \\my domain\dfs\XenDesktop\Profiles\username\AppData\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default (random default profile name). My question is what is the best course of action to add this pref. to all PC user's pref.js file? keep in mind the pref.js is located on the hidden network path I included above. I apologize if my question is not easy to understand.

    cor-el, thanks for you reply.
Yesterday, prior to my post, I did try the mozilla.cfg method. I read your reply to another FF user's, similar question. Here are my complete steps.
    1. created a txt file with the following info: defaultPref("network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris", "ngs.org"); // set new default value
    2. saved the file as mozilla.cfg
    3. dropped the file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    4. Created local-settings.js with the following info:
    pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift
    5. dropped the file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref
When I launch Firefox the network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris should say ngs.org, but the value is still blank.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

On the laptop as an administrator my folder and desktop redirection works perfectly. As a standard user it does not. in trouble shooting this I gave the user admin rights, but this did not change anything. gpupdate /force brings up a message:
