  • Error message Photoshop CS6 won't start in Windows 7

I am unable to start Photoshop in Windows 7 (64 bit Home Premium). I gegt an error message saying Photoshop CS6 won't start and telling me to close the program. Is this a common problem and is there a solution? I have tried opening the program in safe mode and tried a clean boot all without success.

  • I have a used iMac, HD wiped, OS 10.6.8 freshly installed w/Rosetta, Photoshop Elements won't start saying "could not complete because of missing or invalid personalization info." previous owner's name still there preventing initialing?

I have a used iMac, HD wiped clean, OS 10.6.8 freshly installed w/Rosetta, Photoshop Elements was installed but won't start saying "could not complete because of missing or invalid personalization info." is previous owner's name somehow still there preventing initialing?  How do I remove and install my own?  I don't understand as HD was completely wiped with no OS when I got it.

I think Adobe allows their software to be installed on 2 computers only. However, if say you buy another computer and wish to install PSE on the new computer ( effectively a 3rd computer as far as Adobe is concerned ) PSE needs to be properly uninstalled ie not simply by uninstalling using the operating system's uninstall process. It needs to be uninstalled using the Adobe uninstall process that is contained within the software.
You should then be given a prompt as to whether you will be reinstalling on the same computer or if you wish to remove altogether. If the latter, then all traces are removed and the software can be (re) installed on the new computer.
If, unknown to yourself, the software had been installed on 2 computers and although you or the previous may have wiped the hard drive clean, as far as Adobe is concerned the software is still ' registered / assigned ' to 2 computers.
If the previous owner bought a new computer and installed their PSE on it, wiped the hard drive clean without properly uninstalling/removing PSE thentherein probably lies the prblem.
As Allan Jones said, it 's probably worth your while to purchase your own copy.
    Hope this helps.

  • Photoshop elements won´t start

Hallo Adobe Photoshop elements 12 won´t start. The editor does not start, the organizer has no problmes. I have reinstall the programm (sorry is english is not so good) because i had installed new hardware. (Mainboard, CPU, RAM). After restarting the systems the programm worked fine. After some days elements was only in trial-mode. First I irgnired it but then i deinstalled it an  reinstalled it on a new ssd. Installing and entering the CD-Key was no problem. Organizer launched without any problems but the photoeditor does not start. Log-Files are okay, no errors while install-progress. I did everything, reinstalling, using ccleaner and i tried to delete manuelly everything with "photshop elements" in the regestry (with new installation after that....).
Running the setup und the exe as admin did´nt help.

  • Photoshop cs2 won't start

I am out of town.  I know that I have an old version of photoshop (CS2), but when I return home, I plan to buy a new computer and update photoshop to the latest version.
In the meantime, I'm having problems starting photoshop on windows xp.  When I start it, I get a window, "Adobe Photoshop CS2 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."  If I click, it gives technical information about the problem.
I've rebooted, and the same things happens.  If I were back home and had access to my install disks, I would reinstall.  Is there anything that I can do while I'm here in LA?
Thanks a lot for your help.

You have to be VERY quick to get those keys down IMMEDIATELY after starting Photoshop from it's menu entry or shortcut, and it sometimes takes several tries.

  • Photoshop Cs6 won't start up.

Recently I have installed Photoshop Cs5 Beta, and I was actually satisfied with how it looked like.
But since yesterday whenever I start the  64 bit one (Tried the other one too) it takes like 15 minutes to load but when it tries to start up it tells me to find online help or close the program.
I tried the find help online but even there it popped up the same error as before, then after clicking twice it just closes by itself.
Does anyone know how to fix this? It worked perfectly fine before, but now it just has an unknown error.

I'll see if I can help out. First I need to get a little more information:
I assume you downloaded from this location: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/photoshopcs6/
and then after installation selected the TRY option. Is that correct? Were you able to get through that and enter your adobe id or did you skip the adobe id? (must be done within 7 days to keep the program running)
Since you saw the UI I assume you were able to launch the software  successfully. Did it crash immediately or did you open or create a file and do something first?
This is on a PC right? What operating system are you running?
What video board are you using?

  • Photoshop CS3 won't start anymore

I use Photoshop CS3 with OSX 10.4.  Everything has been working great until reccently.  I had a huge job and the amount of memory it took was causing 'scratch dick full' errors.  One day I pulled Photoshop up and it got part way through opening and crashed.  It has been doing this ever since.  I have cleared over 22 gig of space, cleared the preferences by holding down the control, option, shift.... when starting, and finally reinstalled Photoshop.  Nothing works.  All of my other software is working great.  However, I also have CS2 and Photoshop isn't starting on that version either.
What can I do to get it going again?  I have jobs backed up and I'm falling behind fast!
    Any help appreciated!

Press and hold Ctrl - Shift - Alt IMMEDIATELY after starting Photoshop from its menu item or shortcut.  This will allow you to reset the preferences to initial defaults.
    I'm betting that will help.

  • Photoshop 5 won't start

I have Windows 7 and Photoshop 5.1. Photoshop gets stuck on the startup screen at 'initializing' since around Dec 5th. It will only start again when I roll back to a restore point before Dec 5th. I have cleared preferences many times to get it to start and also uninstalled and reinstalled as PS help chat suggested yesterday. It seemed like there may be a problem with flash 11 but PS help support said, no it couldn't be that. What else can I do? Thanks,Meri

    Welcome to the forum.
From your description, the first thing that I would explore is to update your video driver. Those can be rendered obsolete, just with OS updates, so with your success using a System Restore Point, prior to perhaps an OS upgrade, the video driver becomes suspect.
Do not trust your OS, or any utility, to tell if you have the latest driver, as they will likely be at least 6 mos. out of date.
I would also post more info on your system, and especially your video card, and installed driver version and date. This FAQ Entry explains what info would be useful: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4587299#4587299
Good luck, and let us know a bit more, please.

  • Photoshop Elements won't start (Win XP)

Some one tell me why i should not throw this program in the trash

Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below if restart does not fixes the problem.
Solution 1:      1. Close Elements.  Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.     Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
3: Try launching with Admin account
4: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
5: Try launching PSE Editor directly from .exe (win) or Editor app file (mac)
6: Check once in task manager (WIN) or Activity monitor (Mac) to make sure that the Photoshop Elements Editor is not already running. If yes then kill the process and try re-launching.
7: Make sure you have space available on your hard drive. For specification review here http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements/tech-specs.html   Solution
    8: Re-installing with admin account.
    Hope you get it working.

  • All of a sudden Photoshop won't start [on a Macbook Air]

    Dear all,
I'm on a MacBook Air with OS X 10.10.2, and I use Photoshop about once a month, but now I really need it, and it won't start:
    - Immediately after I click on the Photoshop icon I get "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 cannot be opened because of a problem." And when I click on the "Report..." button I get a very technical message (see below).
    - I've used Photoshop on this machine for about a year with no problem, but recently I had a problem and needed to restore from my TimeMachine backup.
    - I don't know if the problem occurred immediately after the restore or not.
    - I've read innumerable threads on various forums, but nothing describes my problem exactly. I suspect a problem with my paths and permissions (since I read a report that restoring from a TimeMachine causes such problems occasionally), but I don't know which path is corrupted/missing/unreadable.
    - I've tried creating a new admin account and starting Photoshop from there. It didn't work.
    - I don't mind reinstalling, but I don't have an installer image. I started with Photoshop 6, then updated to CS2, CS4 and eventually CS5. I do have all the serial numbers but not all update-images.
I would appreciate any hints on how to further diagnose and some the problem.
    Thanks a lot in advance!
