Photoshop CC2014 very low printing performance.
Hello.
After upgrading from CS2 and CS3 to CC2014 Photoshop and Illustrator send each copie separate to the printer.
Originally the .PSD has 63MB but it gets send to the printer 10 times instead off one and copying it 10 times like it used to work under CS2 and CS3
I already tried to use the latest printing driver without success. It is a Canon IR ADV C5250i.
Here is a great video explaining the issue:
I would recommend a resolution at 300dpi, but that is often dependant on the image you are printing. I often set it at 300ppi for a photo quality.
Here is the link if the video doesn't display: http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/tools-tips/pixels-image-size-resolution-photoshop/
I hope that helps, please post back with any questions

Very slow print performance after installing Photoshop CC
Hello-
A colleague of mine has been using Photoshop CS2 forever. I finally convinced her to upgrade to a newer version, and we installed Photoshop CC on her Win 7 Pro desktop.
She is trying to print today, and jobs that would take no time at all in CS2 are taking exorbitant amounts of time when sent from CC. For example, we open a PSD in CS2 that is 15MB. We choose "Print with preview" and then send 25 jobs to the printer. From hitting the button to the last item coming out of the printer, we're done in less than 2 minutes.
If we open the same file from CC and print, it's taking about 1 minute per copy, or about 25 minutes in total.
The problem seems to be with Photoshop sending the job to the printer, as we can see the jobs increment in the printer display at wildly different rates depending on which version we print from.
The same problem appears with pretty much any PSD or TIF. If we conver the file to PDF from CC and then print from a PDF application (not CC), print speeds fly again.
Any ideas on where I should start troubleshooting? (As an aside, the GPU on her computer isn't particularly good, but I would hope that the print engine doesn't require it.)
Thank you in advance. The problem seems to be with Photoshop sending the job to the printer...
The very first thing I would do is hit the website for the printer manufacturer and make sure you have the latest print drivers. Second thing is go to preferences and make sure Photoshop has enough RAM assigned and decent space on the scratch disk. Putting the scratch on an SSD or different drive helps a lot. But the RAM is the main thing. You didn't mention the PC/Mac or RAM, I would assume you have at least 16GB and at a very minimum, 8GB on that machine. Then allocate 75% of the RAM to Photoshop. Hope that helps! -
Hi,
Using arch a few days ago (Recent Instalation) I noticed that it was very slow, programs were taking quite some time to open, then I tested my HD performance with hdparm:
Cached Read is 680MB/s in Arch.
After this, I installed CentOS 5.0 and tested hdparm again:
Cached Read is 1700MB/s in CentOS.
Then I Tested hdparm in Ubuntu 7.04 and in Fedora 7 and:
Cached Read is ~ 622MB/s in both.
My problem is that I want Arch (Of course) with that HD performance found in CentOS.
I want some directions from you guys, I have already searched and tested this for a few days, but can´t make it work.
I can get needed data from bot, Centos or Arch.
Thank you!!

Hello everyone. I have an intel gma 950 video card and I think it's not performing as it should.
From what I've read here at the forums, this card should be getting ~1200 FPS in glxgears (a couple of owners of this same card reported that). Mine is getting about ~750.
I really don't know how to tweak my xorg.conf anymore so please help me. Maybe the owners of said video card could let me see their xorg.conf ?

Although,
glxinfo | grep direct
does return

Thanks for the response anyway....
EDIT: Just tried disabling triple buffer and the composite extension, and glxgears still returns the same result! I just don't get it

My Photoshop reads very low ram!
Hi there, i got 4gb ram in a fresh windows
7 ultimate 32bit instalation, which says 2,75 usable, because i gues 1gb is used by the video card!
Anyway my photoshop shows avaliable memory 1,7 gb ONLY!!
Pls anyone knows how to fix this i need more memory offcourse!
thanksIf you really want this then you should type BCDEDIT.EXE /Set IncreaseUserVa <value> where "<value>" is the amount of MB you want your applications to be able to see.
increaseuserva Megabytes
Specifies the amount of memory, in megabytes, for user-mode virtual
address space. This variable can have any value between 2048 (2 GB) and
3072 (3 GB) megabytes in decimal notation. Windows uses the remaining
address space (4 GB minus the specified amount) as its kernel-mode
address space. -
Very low network performance (Solaris8)!
I'm using two Solaris8(4/01) PC.
Each PC consists of ASUS CUSL2-M (this mother board is listed in HCL) which has 3Com 3C920 onboard network controller.
I tested the network thoughput between them by the netperf, I got only 2.7M bit per sec!
I also tested following:
Solaris8(3C920) - Solaris8(Intel Pro/100) 2.6Mbps
Solaris8(3C920) - Linux(Dec tulip) 81.2Mbps
What's wrong? Configuration problem? Device failure? Or driver problem?
Anyone tell me the solution, please.

Adobe Photoshop CC2014 internet connection very slow
Hi,
I'm developing an Adobe Photoshop HTML5 (website) extension. This is working fine in Photoshop CC, but is very slow in CC2014.
Today I've installed an update for Photoshop CC2014 and I was presented with an 'introduction' screen, loaded from the web.
This had the same slowness, indicating my extension is not at fault.
The regular functionality of Photoshop has a normal speed, and I'm working on a recent computer with Win 7 64bit.
I've recorded a video showing how slow it really is (and proof that my internet connection has sufficient speed)
http://videobam.com/gmNun
How can I solve this?
Thanks!

Hi
First.. sorry for Bad translating.
i notes very low performance of my FW800/400 (i think after EFI/SMC Firmware Update)
FW800/400 More slowly the USB2 and FW800 cannot see External Devices that working fine with my macbook pro.Hey Noorldin,
I think I have a similar problem. I have always had some issues with the ports (owned the MacPro since the first month it came out) but several months ago things took a turn for the worse. External harddrives no longer work properly. USB drives won't mount, firewire drives will mount but the transfer rate is roughly 1MB a sec and after ~10 MB I get an error and the transfer stops. Other peripherals work for the most part but not well. My external usb microphone will not stop receiving audio signals when turned off and my canon HV20 drops frames during transfers. My awesome fujitsu scansnap scanner, printer, and usb mouse transmitter all work fine though. I used to be able to play many 1080p videos at the same time, now I can not play one without frames dropping even when booted into a new clean internal HDD. The MacPro will only sleep if I manually set it to sleep. The autosleep feature will have the internal hdds spinning up and down all night.
I spent 20 min on hold to get an Apple rep and then 47 min on hold to get an Apple Specialist. The specialist was very kind and tried many things with me. In the end, the specialist concluded that my Logic board or CPUs were most likely bad and that I should get them tested and possibly replaced. You may need the same.
One weird thing I tried just the other night was to unplug all USB and Firewire devices, including my 30 in display and wireless mouse hub, and then I plugged in just one firewire hdd. It worked fine!? So, I will continue testing on my own for a while and let you know what I find out from my tests or from the Apple repairs, as I have only seen one other person with an issue like mine and what I believe might be yours too. I have seen many issues with the front ports not working right though. -
Select single to RSEG with very low performance
Hello experts,
We have recently upgraded our sap basis from 701 to 740 and we are experiencing a very low performance with the following abap instruction:
select single * from rseg into lw_rseg where ebeln = lw_output-pedido and
ebelp = lw_output-item and
kschl = lw_output-kschl.
Could it be anything from the upgrade?
Any suggestions?
If we change the "*" for only one field of the RSEG table, would the improvement in te performance be significant?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Raquel OliveiraHi, Raquel!
In SELECT statement you are not using the key fields for RSEG table.
Replacing "*" by a single field won't do the trick.
In our system we've got a table index on EBELN and EBELP fields in RSEG and it helps a lot.
In case you don't want to set additional indexes you can find all incoming invoices for the purchasing document items in EKBE table and then go to RSEG having BELNR, GJAHR and BUZEI fields.
If you already have table index on RSEG with EBELN & EBELP fields - you can trace SQL statement in ST05 and check whether it uses the index.
And apart from that - anything can be from upgrade -
Out.print performance problems?
Hi
I'm facing strange performance problems I would not expect generating long html pages on the fly.
I have a page that is approximately 30 to 40Kb long. Profiling code generation I obtain a 30 second time to process. I have excluded every server-side processing activity since I have also used a StringBuffer to accumulate all the html code to be flushed: generating the StringBuffer content require less than 1ms... flushing out the content with:
out.print(stb);
out.flush()
is taking 5 to 6 seconds. The same happens both on a development environment using CQ servlet engine, both in production where we are using CQ with JBoss as app server.
I tried the same operation on a simple tomcat installation with a JSP... less than 10 ms to generate the full page.
This problem is slowing down a lot performances.
The contents are generated inside a nested component included with a <cq:include> tag.
Anyone can give me suggestions on how to cut down a so big delay in html content generation?
thanksI made further analysis and now I can give a clearer scenario.
The *very low* performances has been registered on CQ 5.2.1 when generating html code full of relative links. Every link *cost* big processing time. With 60-70 links the component ends up paying 3 to 4 seconds (too much!).
The same component on a CQ 5.4 instance takes approximately 500 milliseconds, still too much considering that without link the same html code is generated in less than 10 milliseconds.
The reason is clearly in the filters applied in the output pipeline --> link checker? remapping on links based on etc/map configurations?
How can I change configurations in order to avoid these performance problems?
thanks

Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom print discrepancies
Hello,
I am having an issue with printing from Lightroom. I have a profile for my printer/driver/inkset that I have used successfully with Photoshop. When I print an image in Lightroom with the "profile manages" using this profile with the same driver, the image is dark. the exact same image exported from Lightroom to Photoshop prints beautifully with the same driver/paper/inkset.
I have double and triple-checked my driver and lightroom print settings but cannot find anything that appears out of whack. I use a saved pre-set to ensure that my printer driver settings are identical each time.
Does anyone have any ideas?
thank you,
George PappasThanks for the additional information, Andre. Your symptions seem to point to the same underlying cause of the problem that I have experienced even though your particulars are different.
I have been quiet on this issue becuase I have been involved in a "deep dive" through the problem with Adobe Technical support and by trying to make sense of the other causes/effects/workarounds found by members of the Lightroom and other forums. For now, I do not have a solution yet, but hope to have more tangible information and a solution to post within a couple of weeks.
I have been through four tech support interactions with Adobe and one from Canon. Unfortunately, these calls were less than satisfactory. While the people on the phone were nice, there very unhelpful and primarily engaged in "pass the buck" behavior by claiming the problem was somewhere else. The last support call with Adobe lasted 40 minutes with a very nice fellow who gave me USELESS feedback and directed me to a knowledgebase article that had nothing to do with my real problem.
Let me be clear, I am a 20+ year software industry veteran and understand the complexities of this stuff. It is obvious that Adobe and Canon cannot put fully qualifed (and expensive) people on the first point-of-contact for support issues. However, they should have a reasonable escalation procedure that routes a problem of appropriate complexity to a highly qualifed person after a reasonable number of support attempts are unsuccessful in solving the issue. So far, this has not happened and is very frustrating to me.
Here is what I know of the underlying cause of the issue thus far. It appears to be caused by the interaction between Lightroom, the operating system's color management, and the printer driver. In essence, each of us are getting prints that are "double" or "triple" color managed even though we are trying to select one color managment workflow for our output.
Photoshop/InDesign and other adobe applications use their own color management engine called ACE. Lightroom does things differently and uses the computer's operating system CM functions. I believe this why my prints continue to look good when printed out of Photoshop yet look lousy (too dark) when printed from Lightroom. Lightroom is making assumptions when it sends a print data stream to a printer driver that doesn't yield the same result becuase each operating system performs color management tasks somewhat differently and print drivers from Canon/Epson/HP also do not use the operating systems CM functions the same way. For Mac users, if you add the printing engine architecture change from of Mac O/S 10.4 to Mac O/S 10.5 you throw an additional level of change into the equation which is not helpful.
So, where does that leave all of us who have this problem? I believe that for a given print driver/profile/operating system, Adobe will need to provide us with a workaround that will result in quality prints. To do this means that someone in Adobe who has the knowledge has to put together a specific recipe of options that work for the major printer manufacturers/OS's/printers. The long run solution will, unfortunately, occur over time as Adobe modifies how Lightroom makes certain assumptions when it sends print data streams to printer drivers and printer manufacturers will update their printer drivers to be more bulletproof regarding operating system color managment differences.
Sorry for the long-winded message. Unfortunately, this is one of those seemingly simple problems that has a lot of underlying complexity and does not yield a "one size fits all" solution. I will keep this group updated on what I learn as I work with Adobe.
Best,
George -
Low printer with lomg processing times ; network issues
Hello,
We are running ECC6 on HP-UX 11.23/Oracle 10.2
We have configured all our printers ( more than 300) using the host spool access method L : Print Locally using LP/LPR.
Every day, we have the same printers with the sames "low printers" :
sm21 syslog shows ;
Printer WRAL Temporarily Locked Due to Connection Problem
Spool Process logs indicates ;
Fri Feb 17 11:09:37 2012
Warning: lpq on printer WRAL took 16 seconds!
RSPOSYSLOG:
SYSLOG written: CODE FBL, locat 28, param WRAL&16&
There are several notes that indicate how to deactivate the printer pooling, but still, the best thing to do is to pinpoint the
root cause of the issue, .....which we haven't
I checked the spool distribution times in transaction STAD, I have unusuallyhigh "processing times" values.
But I can't underdstand it.
Is it a network processing time ?
Our network team tell us that there is nothing abnormal, but is there a way to check from SAP , any netwok issue with the printers ?
Thanks
Edited by: Raoul Shiro on Feb 17, 2012 5:09 PMHi,
For log "Printer WRAL Temporarily Locked Due to Connection Problem", it means
that for a period of xxx seconds (parameter rspo/lpq/temp_disable_time) no query or printing from sap for this printer are done anymore.
This has no influence on the printout from any other application. The only effect is that the printer is 'disabled' within sap.
The idea behind this concept is to prevent that a slow query can slow down the overall print performance of one server. During the query the spool wp cannot do anything else. In this time no printout to any printer from this server can be done.
It would seem that the problem is outside of the R/3 system and is at UNIX or printer level. Perhaps you had a temporary Network or printer problem. You can test by executing the lpstat query to this printer at OS level.
You can find out the exact lpstat query that your system uses, by looking at the system parameters 'rspo/host_spool/query'.
The parameter &P in the command will be substituted by the host device name.
If everything is correct in your unix spooler then it is very likely that the printer is not working correctly, so the unix spooler can't send print jobs to this printer, Therefore SAP blocks this printer for a certain time trying not to overload the unix spool queue.
You might want to temporarily turn off the query but if there is a problem with a specific printer or OS problem, this
will not be reported back to R/3.
Some SAP notes:
385794 - Connection problems with network access methods
20924 - Parameter settings for remote printing

Laser Jet 100 Color MFP M175nw "Very low" message even after changing cartridge
Hello, Windows 7, 64 bit. Connection: USB. After a "supply very low" message for the black cartridge, I changed it to a completely new one (HP original toner with the hologram), but I still got a "very low" message and the print quality remained faint. Nothing worked: I tried the 3 solutions posted by Shirlzz1 to another user that had exactly the same problem (Alan_Gilmore), i.e. 1) taking out and reseating cartridges, 2) hard reset, and 3) taking cartridges out and hard reset, then reseating cartridges. I also tried a cleaning and a print quality report. All looked fine, but still "very low" message and faint print quality. The only thing that worked was changing the cartridge a second time to a completely different (new) one -- now everything's fine. So I'm guessing the first replacement cartridge I used is defective. However, is there anything else I can try with the apparently defective cartridge? They do cost a pretty penny, especially here in Denmark. Thanks for taking the time to look at this.
Hi,
Please check for these settings
setup menu> system setup>supply settings
Under this you have a option
Black Cartridge
very low settings>stop/Prompt/Continue, select continue
low threshold> on/off
same for color too
Hope this helps

My photoshop CC2014 on my Mac OSX Yosemite crashes all the time with random tasks. Now almost nothing works. Sometimes it stops working after doing random tasks like starting photoshop and i have to do a hard reset by putting the power off of my Mac pro retina (2014). After logging in again i got the message from Photoshop that graphics problem occurred with a Problem report I will post here. I also cannot merge to HDR from lightroom to photoshop & also in Photoshop in the file menu > automate merge to HDR pro. It 8 of 10 times it stops working and I won't select one of the brackets. I have to force quit photoshop. I think these instability problems started after updating to Yosemite but become worser everyday. I also disabled the graphics driver, put it on basic and enabled/disabled open gl, sometimes photoshop disables it automaticly. My osx is up to date so I don't have to update my graphic driver because these updates or done within the OSX update pane. I cannot add the Problem report file in this topic, How can I do this???
Have you installed all the Photoshop updates and MacOS 10.10 updates?
Disabling GPU usage in Photoshop should help with the video driver bugs in MacOS 10.10, until Apple can solve all the driver issues (yes, Apple knows about them and is working on solutions).
What does the long, detailed crash log say?
Also, anything that freezes, shuts down, or reboots the machine is not an application error - but caused by an OS bug, a low level driver bug, or faulty hardware. Applications simply cannot cause those symptoms on modern OSes. -
After Photoshop CC 2014 update - Photoshop is very slow (Windows 7)
After updating today to the latest photoshop cc2014 Version, Photoshop starts very slow and is not useable.
I updated from V. 2014.1.0 to 2014.2.1 20141014.r.257.
Starting Photoshop Needs 6 minutes (before 1.5 minutes). The menue and button reactiontime is more than slow, you cant work with this Setup.
Is there a Problem with the new release?
And please Adobe, dont tell me, my System has a problem. Did only an update on the CC2014 Suite via creative cloud. Old PS Version (2014.1.0)runs great.
After testing a few time, I recovered my System back to Version 2014.1.0 with Windows recovery and Photoshop works good again.
So whats wrong with the new release?
My PC config:

This is a Adobe Photoshop User forum your not dealing with Adobe here. You seem to think you are and your attitude seems like you not open to to possibility that your system may have a problem.
