PhotoShop Color Overlay  for  Interactive Indesign Document

Hello world!
Im trying to  figure  out  how to do what the  following  email  says:
"We typically do them like this – a SketchUp model, with color overlays done in Photoshop.  We then use the color overlay document to create the InDesign links for the code document."
This is for a city planning code. Im not  very  proficient on PS  but I do use  illustrator daily.  The image attached  shows what I suppose are the color overlays from PS. I havent found anywhere how these overlays can be links... Am I just confused? Please  help.
[  i thought of  just  using multiply and the  pen tool on  illustrator to color the  exported  sketchup scenes,no linking to  anything though]
Thanks!!!!!!

That sounds more  clear to me ! We'll see  what  it ends  up being  when I  hear back from them but your  directions would be  easy to research and execute.  Thank you BobLevine

  • One Master Template for Mulitple InDesign Documents?

    For example, say I have a change to a character style, or a page template.  I want this change to be reflected in multiple documents that all have the same look.
    Right now I'm working on a template for a client that has 8 datasheets.  Each time they want a change to the look and feel of their template, I have to make it 8 times, to each InDesign file.  Is it possible to have some sort of master template?  I'm looking for the print equivalent of CSS files of the web design world.
    I thought about having all 8 datasheets on one indesign file, but it seems it would be a pain being forced to choose which page I want to export every time for pdfs, and also a hassle with page numbering.
    Is it possible to have one master template sync up for multiple InDesign documents?

    I do the same. But one thing to add:
    If these documents should have independent numbering than you should take care in the page panel's section & numbering options to restart each document with 1 (or whatever you want to start with.)

  • Photoshop Color Settings for Wide Gamut Monitor

    Hey guys,
    I have a wide gamut monitor (HP LP2475w) which has already been calibrated. My question isn't so much about that, but the settings I should be using inside of Photoshop (CS5). As far as color settings (ctrl+shift+k) goes, what am I supposed to use? I have sRGB as the rgb working space right now. (never use CMYK), Gray % Spot = dot gain 20%, and preserve profiles are ticked on for all 3. Am I supposed to be using Adobe RGB in RGB working space to get the most out of my monitor? I'm asking because it would be embarrassing if I had a wide gamut monitor and am working within a sRGB color cap. Please enlighten me with the proper photoshop color settings, so that it works well across the board (browser compatibility, etc)
    As a FYI, I am a professional digital artist who specialize in illustrations for print campaigns. So far from what I've seen, whatever's been printed out of what I produce from this monitor has come out pretty much looking the same, so I'm not worried about that. Again, I just want to make sure I'm not careless and am using settings which doesn't make use of a wide gamut monitor.
    Thanks for your input in advance!

    I think a lot of users believe that the Color Settings have much bigger role than what they actually do most of the time.
    When working with images you have to be always aware about the color space the image is currently displayed in.
    In Photoshop the displayed color space of an image is obtained in  the following order of priority:
    1. from the choice in View > Proof Setup  menu when the View > Proof Colors is checked.
    2. when the Proof Colors is off,  from the embedded profile.
    3. when the Proof Colors is off and when  the image is without a  color   profile (untagged)  from the Working  Color space selected in  the  Color  Settings.
    This image  shows how to check the color profile of an image - I keep it permanently on.
    As you can see, the color spaces selected for working spaces in the  Color settings affect the display of images only when they are untagged (without color profiles). The color settings also set the default choice of a color space when you create a new document but you can always select another color space form the Advance section of the dialog that appears when you choose File > New. You can also assign a color space to any image by using Edit > Assign Profile. So, if you never work with untagged images, you really don't need to care at all what your working spaces in your Color Settings are set to. You can use the Color Management Polices in the Color settings as a tool that will ask you what to do when you have profile mismatch when you paste. Personally I never use these because I'm always aware of the color space of the pasted content. Also the conversion method set in the Color Settings will be used when pasting. If you want different conversion method paste the content in a new document created with the color space of the clipboard content and then choose Edit > Convert to Profile and after that copy and paste in the desired document with the same color space.

  • CS3:Problem in generating .ps file for an indesign document.

    Hello,
    I have ported a plug-in built for InDesign server CS2 to CS3.
    Generating ".ps" file is one of the functionality of my plug-in.
    But for the given document InDesign CS3 server Debug generated the following asserts in the server log.
    [21/05/2008 22:21:50] ~InstanceList(): 1 outstanding references to UID 2 (Class kRIDXBoss).
    [21/05/2008 22:21:50] ~InstanceList(): 1 outstanding references to UID 216 (Class kAssignmentBoss).
    [21/05/2008 22:21:50] ~InstanceList(): 1 outstanding references to UID 5 (Class kContentMgrBoss).
    [21/05/2008 22:21:50] ~InstanceList(): 1 outstanding references to UID 187 (Class kAssignmentBoss).
    [21/05/2008 22:21:50] ~InstanceList(): 1 outstanding references to UID 218 (Class kAssignedStoryBoss).
    [21/05/2008 22:21:50] ~InstanceList(): 1 outstanding references to UID 1 (Class kDocBoss).
    I have debugged the code and found that the following API is causing these asserts.
    IPrintSetupProvider::StartPrintPub( bool16 & bReturn,
    IDocument * iDoc,
    UIDRef & styleUIDRef,
    IPrintCmdData::PrintUIOptions & printPubUIOpt,
    IInkList * iInkList,
    ITrapStyleListMgr * iTrapListMgr
    when i shutdown the InDesign server got crashed.
    Can any one of you describe in detail the functionality of this API.
    I will be thankful if any one you can give some idea on how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    sambolus.

    Lee,
    Sorry I think I didn't use the right terminology, somehow I want to include/link the file (not with menu item 'place') programmatically in my current open Indesign document, then I expect to see the filename in Link palette. I can do this with linking to a page item in doc but I don't want to assign it to a particular page item, rather I want to assign it to doc. Is any approach to do it?
    Thanks again,
    Mor

  • Like Photoshop, Color code for Indesign layers

    It might be a good complement to folders. I find it even more convenient and straightforward.

    Yeah, that would be nice. Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form

  • Exporting to SWF - interactive indesign documents

    Hi guys,
    Ok so I have been playing around again with the idea of producing some interactive wire frames using indesign and exporting to swf. I have a global nav at the top that is working just fine. I also have some links futher down the page, and that's where the problem is.
    Let's say I have a link called 'Map' half way down the page. It's a long page around 4000 px. So let's say the 'Map' link 2000 px down the page. When I click on the link it takes be to the map page, but postions me at 2000 pixles down the page. Not at the top of the page where I want to be.
    I have had a play around with the Zoom drop down but I am not having any success.
    I don't want to export to pdf as I want to be able to set target pages for the links with in indesign, and not have to mess around in acrobat after (potentialy This document will have a tonne of pages).
    Anyone got any ideas (please)
    Dan

    nk you.  !!  The text has now converted to times new roman?

  • Relative Hyperlinks in an Interactive InDesign Document

    Hi to everybody!
    I'm working in an interactive document with InDesign 5.5 that export to a SWF file, and in the document I'm made buttons that link to PDF document, but the problems is that the route to documents is "absolute"...
    Anybody know any solutions to do this links "relatives"?
    I tried with an "URL" hyperlink and put the PDF in the same folder that the SWF exported document but doesn't open in the web browser
    Thanks in advance
    Alberto

    Ok I try to go one step beyond...
    if I put in the url dialog for example
    PDF/document1.pdf
    and I put the documents in a folder in the same folder where the .swf
    and... WORKS
    Thanks to all

  • How can I check the color profile for the current document?

    I'd like to create a script that checks the current document's color profile and checks it against a string, for example "sRGB IEC61966-2.1". My studio has a script that performs various functions to make sure that all the layers are visible/unlocked, checks for stray points, etc., and we'd like to add a check to the color profile because we handle a large number of files and this setting is overlooked a lot.
    It's alright if this value isn't writable through script (we can just pop up an alert letting the user know that they need to change it), but I can't find where to actually read this setting! We're currently working on Macs and with JavaScript, but any nudge in the right direction would be great.
    Thanks!

    The Annoyance Factor. The idea was to add the color profile check once an illustrator is finished with a particular file as a kind of "clean up" before they save and move on to something else. My options as of right now are:
    Create a script that saves the file in Illustrator and then closes the document, opens Photoshop if it wasn't open already (wait to load), opens the file in Photoshop (wait to load), change the color profile, and save (wait for the extra save).
    Create a script that pops up an alert that says, "Check that your color profile is set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1". And the illustrator will check, save the file, and move on.
    We have close to 30 people working on several files every day so wasting all that time waiting for files to load and save in a different application adds up in man-hours pretty quick. In this particular case, getting our people to do it is more efficient.

  • Are color settings stored within indesign documents

    Good day!
    I might have done a more thorough search, but as we use Indesign in a non-english version I may have problems there anyway, so if the issue has been addressed previously could someone please point me to a pertinent thread?
    Anyway, our problem is this:
    A customer provided indd-files and we populated it with rgb-images of various spaces (ECI RGB v2, which is our RGB working space, and Adobe RGB) and exported x-1a pdfs.
    Those pdfs showed erroneous separation for the Adobe RGB-files.
    Our Color Settings are set to Preserve Embedded Profiles for RGB-mismatches.
    But newly imported RGB-files seem to always get set to Document Space in those documents.
    So the indd-files seem to maintain the Color Management Policies of the application as of the time of its creation and disregard the current settings.
    Can this be remedied for those files?
    Thanks in advance for any feedback.

    Thanks a lot.
    Exporting an idml did not do the trick for me.
    »if you enable the mismatch warnings (and I think you should), you are prompted and given the opportunity to overide the embedded policy.«
    I usually have those turned off to be able to have the programm open multiple files of different spaces un-attended.
    But your recommendation is appreciated and indeed seems to be the (only) way to go here.
    And embarassingly I had forgot to mention in the original post: Indesign 7.0.4, OSX 10.6.7

  • Photoshop color profile for Satellite L350 needed

    Hi there.
    Does anyone know if there is a colorprofile for the L350 to use within photoshop.

    Something like that is not available on the Toshiba European driver page for download.
    Maybe you will have to search on some 3rd party pages for any details and infos how to set best profile in Photoshop using L350.

  • Wish to create an interactive indesign document with moving boxes that grow when hovered over

    Hey guys,
    I am using indesign cs5 to create an interactive flashpage.  We want to have a series of boxes floating around the page and when one of them is hovered over it increases in size.
    We are able to create the floating boxes and by duplicating the boxes and grouping them, we a re able to make them grow.
    However, instead of growing towards the centre of the screen they seem to grow towards and then off the edge of the page.  Would anyone be able to advise me as to how i can force them to grow towards the centre or even create a boundary they cant go over
    I have attached dropbox links to the flash file below
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6338755/Box.swf and
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6338755/Box.html

    For what end product? HTML? SWF? PDF? Offset print? (I don't think so, but I might as well ask.)

  • Layer styles - color overlay

    At my current work our designer using color overlay everywhere, instead of just change color, saying it is more comfortable to him. But when using project parfait it does not see color overlay, for example on shapes and fonts.

    Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Would you be willing to share an example PSD so we can check it out here?

  • Showing indesign document in iOS app.

    Hi, I want to create iOS app which will display magazines but other then magazine pages i want to create login and some other pages. How can i show indesign document in app? DPS don't allows us to code and I haven't found any satisfactory answer for using indesign document in coding through xcode.

    AFAIK InDesign SDK is meant for creating plug-ins for InDesign. It has nothing to do with cXode or even objective-C programming language which is used in xCode...
    InDesign documents (indd-files) are compiled binary files, I don´t think you can parse them anyhow.
    InDesign can be set to save preview images of the pages, that can be used for showing InDesign document´s pages inside some iOS viewer app, I think someone has already done somthing like that... but that´s about only way I can imagine to show InDesign document´s content inside iOS app...

  • InDesign document as an interactive PDF for mobile devices?

    How can I export an InDesign document as an interactive PDF for mobile devices?

    Avoid SWF at all cost and export using Adobe PDF (interactive).
    The experience will depend on the PDF reader that the user has installed.
