Photoshop - Corrupts JPEG on load!

The following image looks correct in browsers (FF or IE) and in viewers (e.g.Irfanview) but not in Photoshop! Save the JPEG and open it in Photoshop, see it yourself...Pay attention to the pink aliasing on the top-right.

Zeno, you're the one defining this bug report as "bashing" Photshop; My interest in this discussion comes from a place of support.  I use Photoshop every day and would like to see it be the best tool it can be.  Defending software is as silly as bashing it.  We are either interested in the success of the tool or we're not, and that means acknowledging its flaws as well as its strengths.
Now, to your last post:  Drag-and-drop from a browser is not the condition being reported.  The condition he's describing is opening a JPEG without color profiles.  He is not reporting issues with copy/pasting, nor with .bmp files.  If you're suggesting this as a "workaround" to a bug, then let's call it so, which acknowledges there is a problem with loading JPEG's without color profiles outright.
If you see this discussion as adversarial, that is something you may want to reconsider.  The issues are clear-cut, obvious, and easy for anyone to replicate.  You may want to see this as what it truly is: a way to help Photoshop improve.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 saves corrupted jpeg files!

    I just cant understand this???
Photoshop CC 2014 saves corrupted jpeg files and some other file formats. PSD and PNG works.
I have try with the latest iMac and the latest Mac Book Pro, both with Mavericks and Yosemite. Im saving to their internal hard drives. I can not open the corrupted photos on any application.

Nobody else has had problems with the files saved by Photoshop.
Are you sure you aren't just saving the wrong file extension on a different file type (i.e.: a PSD file with .jpeg on the end still isn't a JPEG file)?

  • Getting JPEG Library Error for Corrupt JPEG Data using CS5

After recently upgrading to CS5 I am getting JPEG Library Errors for corrupt JPEG data. I have my old PC still in use that uses CS4 and does not generate these errors when accessing the same site. Could someone please assist me in how to get rid of these errors using CS5? I can't find help out there anywhere for this!
    Thanks in advance!

You could use Photoshop's Image Processor to open all of your jpegs in a given folder, make a slight tweek and resave them in the hopes of cleaning out any errors that DW is hitting. It's worth a shot maybe.
    1. In PS go to File > Scripts > Image Processor
    2. For Step 1, browse to a folder in your site with jpeg issues
    3. For Step 2, choose save in same location
    4. For Step 3, choose Save as JPEG and check Convert File to sRGB
    5. Click Run
This will create a sub folder called JPEG with the images resaved there. You can drag them into the parent folder to replace the originals.
If you haven't already, make sure to report the bug here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
At least the right people will be made aware of it then and if it's common enough to trip whatever quantity/user reports system they use, it would get included for repair.
I honestly don't think it's a "bug" per se, since the forum isn't absolutely flooded with the problem.

  • Corrupt JPEG Data

Whenever I open the Assets tab in Dreamweaver 8 (am using XP
Pro), I get a one-after-the-other series of the error message:
Corrupt JPEG data: 11 extraneous bytes before marker 0xdb . The
number of extraneous bytes varies (58, 4, etc) and so does the 0x
    number (0xd9, 0xc4, etc.)
I don't know which jpg files are causing the problem and
there are hundreds of them listed within Dreamweaver Assets.
How can I determine which jpeg files are corrupt?

Most likely because the image has a corrupted data segment
    that your limited
test of software chooses to ignore?

How can I activate an old version of Photoshop that I've loaded on my new tablet? The web activation doesn't work, and when I call the number, it says it's not being used anymore. Meanwhile, I'm down to 13 days till it stops working due to not being activated. HELP?  I really need to continue using this product for my home business. It works fine not activated but the threat is that it will stop working in 13 more days if I don't get it activated, and none of the activation methods they list seem to work.

The new serial number is to the right of your chosen download.

  • Why do I get corrupted JPEGs when saving images in Camera Raw, CS6, Mac 0S Mavericks

I occasionally get corrupted JPEG files when processing RAW files in Camera Raw. The images will have lines of pixels that ar out of line, and or whole sections will be truncated and show white or black. I'm using PS CS6, Camera Raw 8.6 on a Mac with OSx Mavericks. Not sure, but it might have something to do with the Bridge Cache, which also acts up when it's getting full. Anyone else have this problem, or any advice.
    Thanks!

right click on the jpeg (the other mouse button then you use to click with) or on trackpad, hold down control and click, in the menu that pops up, click on "get info" next, if the box labeled "locked" is checked, uncheck it. Down at the bottom, there should be a box with your user name, "staff" and "everyone". to the right of this are options to change these you may need to click the small padlock icon and enter in your password. then change all of the permissions to read and write.

  • Okay, I loaded the trial of Photoshop, have Creative Cloud loaded, downloaded Photoshop, trying to open Photoshop, but cannot, do I open it from the Creative Cloud App Screen?

Okay, I loaded the trial of Photoshop, have Creative Cloud loaded, downloaded Photoshop, trying to open Photoshop, but cannot, do I open it from the Creative Cloud App Screen?

It's not launched from the CC app.
If you have Windows, look under Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CC
If you have a Mac, look in the Application Folder > Photoshop CC

  • Corrupt jpeg in DRAFT

When trying to edit a page, Contribute 4 throws...
JPEG library error Premature end of jpg file Contribute An
    invalid argument was encountered
Now the thing is, the error is coming from a draft, not from
    the live site.
I know this because when I try to edit the same page from a
machine that does not have a draft of the page, there is no problem
    editing the page.
How do I fix? I can't delete the draft from w/in Contribute
because the draft won't get to the point where I can delete it.
I think I know where are the drafts kept, but lots of dll's
etc. are in there as well. How do I ID the draft files so I don't
delete anything important. Actually, if the error is correct, it's
not the draft file itself but a called image that's the problem.
Anyway to ID that image? Are images for drafts kept somewhere?
    TIA

  • I am getting a photoshop error could not load photoshop because the preferences file was invalid and cln't load actions because of an unexpected end of file encountered.

I am getting a photoshop error could not load photoshop because the preferences file was invalid and cln't load actions because of an unexpected end of file encountered.

Are you trying to open Photoshop directly, or open it by double clicking on a Photoshop document, like a PSD file?  If the former, then you might need to reinstall.  Resetting Preferences would be the firs step, but I am not sure if that will work if Photoshop is not opening in the first place.
Try doing so anyway.  Hold down Shift Alt Ctrl (Shift Opt Cmd) while opening Photoshop. OK the message to delete Preferences.
If you get the unexpected end of file error while trying to open Photoshop via a PSD document, then there is more than a good chance that that file is toast.
If still stuck, we need to know Operating System, and Photoshop version.

  • Photoshop CS5 won't load since I installed Yosemite!

Since loading Yosemite, Photoshop CS5 won't load and I get this window!
    I'm on an iMac 21.5 mid 2011.

It seems a lot of people are running it without a problem, just seems to be me that has this issue at the moment, I have just got CS5, but I need it and can't afford the stupid leasing system they now have. I just want the product I paid for to work, or I will have to find a similar system that I can simply buy and use, not pay out for every year!
I had this when Mavericks came out and it was sorted, something to do with Java, but can't remember what...

  • Photoshop elements no longer loads and closes after

I recently upgraded my Lightroom to 5.4 and now my Photoshop elements no longer loads properly.  Once I start the program is gets to the Organize and Edit screen and if I choose Organize the program immediately closes.  Any ideas since I seem to no longer be able to just call Adobe and talk to a real person and get an immediate answer.
    Chris

Try trashing any preference files Elements creates: user/Library/Preferences. Other than that try re-installing the software. You could also ask on the Adobe forum area at their web site.

Whatever you mean by that, this is a user to user forum therefore please don’t assume you are talking to »Adobe«.

  • Photoshop's JPEG Algorithm - from a website (Apache) environment

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this post, but none of the others seemed to fit either.  Here is my situation: I am the programmer for a website that maintains images.  I need to modify the images "on the fly", and I've done what needs to be done using a php module called GD2.  The problem is this: the saved JPEG images, even when saved at quality=100, are no match for the images as saved via photoshop. The website runs php code under Apache in a Linuz environment.
So, my question is this: what image manipulation tool is available to me in that environment (php, Apache, Linux) that uses photoshop's JPEG writing algorithm?
    Original Image created by photoshop:
Image that results from simply read / save 100% in GD2.
FYI, I also opened the image using IrfanView, and saved it at 100%, the results are a near match to what I got from GD2.

Thanks for the reply....I marked it correct answer even though I am devastated by it.
Beleive it or not, that second JPG WAS saved at 100% quality.  In fact, here is the same starting JPG, using the popular free utility IrfanView, again saved with quality=100%.
Part of the reason this looks so bad is that I created an image with red details on a blue background, I guess the human eye is more sensitive to those colors.  So...follow up question - since you say "you should be able to get a lot closer than that", does anyone know what other alternatives ARE available for me?  Most of our images are NOT going to be this sensitive, but still, I don't think we will view this option as acceptible.
(and should I make that Q a separate thread since this one already has a "correct answer" flag attached to it?)
