Photoshop crushes when printing.

Hi,
When I try to print I and go to "adjust printer" to set the paper, photoshop crushes, I donwload what I think is the last driver of the epson stylus pr 3800 that I'm trying to print on but it is not working. With snow leopard worked perfectly.
I'm on a dead line and needd to print. Help please?
Thx

I would look around at methods other people have used since I have not gone through this yet.
This link will give you a general run down but I believe some differences in your situations is that you'll have to use your original DVD that came with your mac and not SL however I might be wrong in saying that. You also have a time machine copy but it doesn't hurt to follow the steps that they provide by copying the user folder to an external hard drive. If you take my advice over the website's once you're on leopard, go to software update and continually update until there are none when you hit software update in >software update. Then install SL and do the same until you are on version 10.6.8v1.1.
Things you could do instead of downgrading.
You might want to consider installing the latest CS5.5 or just Photoshop 5.1 as these work great in Lion. you could also try to print from Preview App, however I've never done this, but this will show that it is photoshop or the drivers. You could also test this by trying to print some text or a test page without photoshop on/open. You should rule out whether it is photoshop, the drivers or lion before downgrading. If you don't have the time to test these things, that is understandable and so downgrading, in your case, could be the only thing that will fix your issue with a 99.99% success rate.

  • Photoshop crashes when printing; Installer crashes too

I am running Photoshop CS and printing with an Epson Stylus RX500 all-in-one. I haven't had a problem printing until recently. Now when I try to print in Photoshop, I get the dialogue box, even the message about PostScript printing, but then it "quits unexpectedly". When I check the report, it says something about "Bad access". The Epson site recommends removing Epson Scan, so I deleted it from my computer and downloaded the new Epson Scan software from their website, but when I try to open the installer, it quits unexpectedly too. I also tried opening an old Epson Scan patch that I had saved to a disc, but VISE installer crashed too. What is going on? Is the problem with the Epson software or is there a problem with my computer? I am hesitant to delete ALL my Epson software, because then if I can't re-install, I won't be able to print from from any application.

Ok, I hooked up my MacBook Pro to my husband's Canon printer and Photoshop crashed again. Apparently the problem is in PS, so I will hunt around for the disc to reinstall.
But I still don't understand why the installer(s) crashed when I tried to reinstall Epson Scan. Is it my computer or Epson? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

  • Photoshop crashing when printing

Hi- as of yesterday photoshop has been crashing when I go to print. It was working fine prior to changing over my ink cartridges and it worked after I changed the first two cartridges but then it started crashing. printing works on other applications. I've tried updating photoshop and updating the printer driver but to no avail. Any help would be  greatly appreciated.

I bet its a rush job isn't it? Darn equipment knows you're in a rush, works fine for weeks and weeks until you absolutely want it too.
I can't see any reason for it to crash just because you changed ink cartridges.
As a workaround, assuming all the other psd files you made print ok, then make the one you NEED, into a tga, or pdf. My only logic being that somehow that file got corrupt, so if you saved it as another format, then load that back in again in a new doc, then print that out.
Of course if other photoshop files are also crashing then all I can offer is see if there is a newer printer driver. The fact they  print on any other app though is head scratching.

  • Photoshop crashes when printing

As soon as i hit send it crashes. Win7 PS6.
I deleted my old printer Epson 4800 driver and reinstalled new one. I think Photoshop is still trying to see the old printer.

  • When printing on a digital press, why are the colors different between INDD & PSD?

I've created the exact same CMYK mix in both InDesign and Photoshop. When printed on a digital press they are not the same color. Any ideas how this can be fixed/solved?

Sounds like the RIP treats raster and vector objects differently. see InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Eliminating YDB (Yucky Discolored Box) Syndrome for a discussion of how this affects transparency interactions, and how to work around it. I suspect you can cure it by adding transparency to the master page and using the custom flattener method.

  • PhotoShop CS2 "Program Error" when printing

I am posting this to the Adobe Forums as well, but thought someone here might have some ideas. am having an intermittent problem printing from PhotoShop CS2 to an Epson 9800. When printing large files (200 MB average) to the Epson, PhotoShop will spool the job, taking about 50% longer than normal, and when complete, displays the following message..."The file XXXX.tif could not be printed because of a program error" No job ever gets to the print que. This happens about 80% of the time when printing. Quitting and restarting PhotoShop generally fixes the problem, and the file can be printed from another computer without issue, so this is not file specific. I have 8GB of RAM installed and PhotoShop running under 100% available memory, cache level at 8, with a dedicated 180GB scratch disk. Memory should NOT be the problem, though I do often have the full layered version of the file open in the background (I am printing from a flattened copy. I have observed that the problem is less likely to occur if no other files are open. I have a second G5 with the exact same software setup (OS, Print Driver and PhotoShop down to the decimal version #) that works perfectly every time. I have run all of the System utilities (Repair Permissions, FSCK, etc), reset the OSX printing system, reset PS preferences, trashed and re installed CS, as well as the Epson printer driver, all with no success. Any other trouble shooting ideas would be greatly appreciated. I would love to avoid a System reinstall.

See the Adobe Knowledge Base document"Error 'Could not complete your request...' or 'Could not create a new document...' (Photoshop CS2 on Mac OS X v10.4)"
I suggest whenever you have problems with third-party applications, the first place to start troubleshooting is with the application's documentation, then vendor's web site. Usually their sites have FAQs, lists of known bugs, or application-specific forums similar to these Discussions. Sometimes, unlike the Apple Discussions, the questions are even answered by employees of the vendor.
The document cited above was found in 10 seconds by searching the Adobe support site.

  • Different Colors when printing from Photoshop and InDesign CS3

Different Colors when printing from Photoshop and InDesign CS3
    I have the following problem:
When printing from Photoshop or InDesign to a PostScript printer, Adobe recommends to let Photoshop handle the colors (I use the German version, so I don't know the exact term used, it changes slightly in all CS3 apps anyway).
The manufacturer however told me to let the PostScript printer handle the colors.
When I chose this option in Ps's print dialog and then choose ISO Coated as the printer pfofile, the results are fine.
But when I place the exact same image in an InDesign file and print from InDesign or export to PDF and print via Acrobat, again using "Printer handles colors", the results are the exact same as if I had used Ps and chosen to let Ps handle the colors (way too saturated and a bit too red).
    ·Photoshop CS3
    ·InDesign CS3
·Test image is a TIFF in CMYK Fogra 27 Coated (which is also the working color space in Ps and ID.
    ·Printer: Xerox Docucolor 3535
    ·Printer profile: ISO Coated
How can I make sure the printer handles the colors in other CS3 apps than Ps? I tried it with ID's print dialog (translated from the German version: Color Management > Options > Color Handling: PostScript-printer decides colors).
    Thanks a lot!

RE: "You don't indicate what Xerox printers you have"
In my first post I named it, is that the information you need?
    Docucolor 3535 using Splash 3535
That's interesting, so I have to find a way to turn off the printer's Color Management function? I mailed them, hope they can tell me how to do it easily. They usually just tell me to not use any profiles and so on, but that's the general rule in this area, I'm really tired of hearing it. Everybody seems to think profiles and LAB mode are nuclear science and I should stay away from it.
Anyway, the test image I'm using is a simple photograph (size A3, 300dpi), so no transparencies at all. I'm placing this image into an equally large ID file and print it from ID, then export it to PDF-X/3 and print it from Acrobat. Hope that helps.

  • Photoshop Text Blurry/Low Resolution when Printed

In photoshop I created a document that is 8.5x11, the size of standard printing paper, with a letter in a handwritten font. When I print my letter the print quality is not so great. I have resolution for the image set to 100. There is a little bit of a blur around the edges of the font and overall it is not very crisp.
If I take that same font when printed through microsoft word, it is very crisp, sharp and high quality.
What might be the disconnect between the two? Why is the same document much more crisp and clean when printed through word than through photoshop?
    Thanks

Here is a great video explaining the issue:
I would recommend a resolution at 300dpi, but that is often dependant on the image you are printing. I often set it at 300ppi for a photo quality.
Here is the link if the video doesn't display: http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/tools-tips/pixels-image-size-resolution-photoshop/
I hope that helps, please post back with any questions

  • Photoshop Application Errors when printing to Zebra Card Printer

    Hello,
I have been troubleshooting and issue for a user and I have run into a wall.
When printing from Photoshop CS3(Version 10.0.1) to a brand new Zebra ZXP Series 3 card printer in Windows 7 32 bit I am getting this: errors:
I went from an XP machine to Windows 7(with a video card plenty of memory) and still the same errors.  I updated the Zebra printer drivers and firmware. I can test print from the PC just fine. I even tried CS4 with the same result. The user purchased a license for CS3 so I am troubleshooting with CS3 at this moment. My user is way behind in printing id badges for his Fireman and needs this resolved ASAP. I may have to go with Zebra's Card Studio Software if there is no resolution for this Photoshop issue.
Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Ben Collier

Zebra Level 2 Support is looking into it for me. Thanks for nothing Adobe!

  • Elements 11 - when I try to print a photo, I get this message "photoshop can not print this document"

What do I need to do when I get this message? "Photoshop can not print this document"

Those pixel dimemsions have aspect ratios that are not the same as a 5 x7 print:
    1360 x 1360 = 1.0
    790 x 640 = 1.23
    2048 x 1366 = 1.5
    An 7 x 5 image = 1.4.
So you'll need to crop the images to 5 x 7 before printing.  The first two images are a little light in the pixels to produce a high resolution 5 x 7 print.

  • Lightroom 4 launches to Photoshop CS5 when I try to print from Lightroom. How do I change it

Lightroom 4 launches to Photoshop CS5 when I try to print from Lightroom. How do I change it, so the printing goes directly from Lightroom to the printer.

    MartyOretsky wrote:
Let me try again. I am in Lightroom and click print. Then I am launched to PS.
    This is not possible.
What you are seeing is not PS, it's your printer dialog. PS does not have an ICM button.
And you say: " Lightroom doesn't stop working; rather CS5 stops working"
And what does the error message say that you posted in the screen shot?  Does it not say "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working" ?
Do not be confused. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is the official name of Lightroom. This is not CS5 that has stopped working. CS5 does not come on when you hit the print button in Lr.
It is Lr that has stopped working.
And you say: "My next step is to click on ICM so the color controls are done by the software."
This is wrong. When you want Lr to do the color management, you select a profile in the Print Module, in the <Print Job> panel under Color Management / Profile.
In the screen shot below I have selected a profile for my HP printer and paper. And that's where you select a profile for your printer and paper.
You do not click on ICM in your printer dialog. You click there only when you want your printer to manage colors.
So try to print by selecting the profile in the print Module as indicated and do not click on ICM.
By the way: Which OS? Are you on a Mac?

  • Print problem - prints fine in photoshop and windows but direct from illustrator is off centre when printed.

when printing a full page image from illustrator the print is off centre and does not print the image in line with the paper. the same image prints just fine in photoshop and as a jpeg from windows own program. the positioning is zeroed in the dialouge box and the preview image shows how it should print, but it does not print as shown. please help.

    clarke,
What happens if you Save a Copy as PDF, then print from Acrobat or Reader?
If that helps, you may consider trying to (find and) use a PostScript (emulatin) printer driver to your printer, if possible.

  • No response from printer when printing a specific file from Photoshop CS6

I am printing from Photoshop to an Epson 3880 printer. I have a specific batch of files from a client that cause the print dialogue to immediately quit when requesting a print job, therefore never sending the information to the printer. With other files, I am able to print normally from Photoshop. After spending the morning on the phone with Epson, I isolated the problem to being with the file in Photoshop. These files were sent to me as PDFs and I converted them to PSDs. Having a hard time understanding this issue.
Does anyone know what kind of file would cause communication between photoshop and the printer to cease?

Photoshop does not communicate directly with the printer.
Photoshop communicates with the OS, which communicates with the driver, and the driver communicates with the printer.
But there may be something in the previously used print settings in the file that the driver does not like and causes it to misbehave.
(note: Epson has had a LOT of problems with their drivers on MacOS 10.9)
