Photoshop CS/8 Updates?

I moved to a new 64bit Win7 install and it's just not liking CS3. When I say it's not liking it I mean it's REALLY not liking it. I intend to change computers again but in the meantime I've reverted to my very old discs of CS1/PS8/Creative Suite. And lo and behold it installs perfectly.
What I'd like to know is for daily use which of the updates would PS experts recommend from "Version 8" http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows
From my disc install the About just says "8". I don't recall any 8+ but I could be wrong. What I do recall was the odd bit of crashing so I'm hoping to stop that until I get CS4 sorted.
I'd appreciate any comments or links to a 8+ I'm not a massive heavy user and it's just scanning and the odd bit adding text. I just don't want crashing.
Not interested in solving the CS3 dilema for now
Thanks!

Did you think of checking Adobe's Updates page linked at the top?
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows
All the updates for CS are listed there.
However, many Win7 users are finding that CS3 works perfectly, so you might care to check the messages on this forum and read the linked Win7 article on the main PS Windows page.

  • Photoshop and Illustrator updates fail using Adobe Application Manager, why and what can I do?

In the Adobe Application Manager, it says there are updates for both Photoshop and Illustrator. When I click to update, they both downloaded and attempted to install and in the middle of this process, Application Manager shows that the updates fail. After this, upon restart of my Mac–running Lion–Illustrator shows that it's up to date in the Application Manager and Photoshop shows an update is available. Upon trying to re-update Photoshop again, the update fails again and again.
I have updated before a few days ago with no problem, so I don't understand why the updates are failing and why after doing so, now Illustrator shows that it is up to date and Photoshop does not.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, does anyone know why and what I can do about it?
    Thank you.

    Hi Richei Creative,
    These would be my suggestions:
Create a new user account with administrative rights, log out of your current account and into that one, launch Adobe Application Manager and attempt the Photoshop update again.
Instructions if you need them  - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11468
If this fails, uninstall Photoshop (Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers) and reinstall Photoshop then from Adobe Application Manager the attempt the Photoshop update again, also from the newly created user account.
    Hope these help,
    -Dave

  • Camera raw is NOT there in photoshop CS 6 update from CS 5

I have just upgraded from photoshop CS5 to photoshop CS 6 and there is no camera raw plugin in CS 6.  its not there at all.   I can't update it because it isn't there..."could not complete the Camera Raw command because Adobe Camera Raw plugin cannot be found." I have installed the Photoshop CS 6 update 3 times to no avail. Camera raw will not update because there is no plugin to update. I am running Mountain Lion. 10.8.2

Please try below troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
If you are using Mac operating system try following steps:
Give read and write permissions to Application support folders from both the library's
    Then re-install Photoshop CS 6.
Issue reason, lack of permissions to concern folders from your Library hence Photoshop is not able to access the camera raw or not able to install camera raw successfully.
above provided steps are the only resolution for this issue.
    Regard's
    Vijay.

Thanks, that is interesting and something I had not previously noted.  If I import RAW files to CR direct from a folder, it is still a NEF.  But Aperture changes all NEF's to TIFFs.  OTOH, at least I once again have my CR opening in PS.

  • Photoshop CC (2014) Update "Waiting"

Photoshop CC (2014) update stays in "waiting" status as long as I care to let it remain like that.
Several hours ago I got the same message for both Photoshop and Bridge CC.  I cancelled both and while the PS update cancelled successfully the Bridge update still (several hours later) says "canceling".

I should've updated this.  I decided to reboot (Mac OS X Mavericks) and that resolved the problem.  Thanks.

All fixed!!!  My Aperture wasn't being recognized because it was in a folder.  OK, now I can use my camera with Aperture.

  • I am having problems applying the Photoshop 13.1 update

This thread has been created for users facing difficulties applying the Photoshop 13.1 update.  Please begin by reviewing your installation logs to attempt to locate the point of failure.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret your installation log at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.
If you need assistance with reviewing your log please utilize the Adobe Support Advisor - http://www.adobe.com/support/loganalyzer/ and choose the package for support option.  If you can then respond to this thread with the operating system you are using and your token number a Adobe employee can then assist with reviewing your installation logs.

I hope someone out here can help me.  I'm a Creative Cloud user.  I have been using the 64-bit version of Photoshop 13.0.x on my system successfully for several months now.  I have Windows 7, 3rd gen (Ivy Bridge) core i7 processor, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB Hard Drive, and am using an NVIDIA GeForce 670 video card.... so my system has plenty of processing power.  Several nights ago, my Adobe application manager pops up on start up (as normal whenever there's app updates to be done) and says there's an update available for Photoshop (version 13.1.2, I think.. or something close to it, anyway) and Bridge.  So, as normal, I apply the updates... Everything completely successfully according to the Applicatino Manager.  However, when I try to start photoshop after the update, I get this window that pops up immediately upon double-clicking the Photoshop 64-bit icon on my desktop: "Adobe Photoshop cannot run on this computer because this version of Photoshop requires Windows 7 or later."  All I can do is "X" out the box to make it go away, so I did.  Weird because obviously I have Windows 7 and all of my other software works great on my system, and I have Lightroom 4.3, other Adobe stuff, Serif software, ACDSee, etc... and I get no problems out of ANY of them running on my officially licensed version of Windows 7.  So just for the heck of it, I uninstalled Photoshop completely and then reinstalled it using the Adobe Application Manager.  It installs version 13.0, which then allows me to open and use Photoshop as normal.  I proceed to "check for updates" from within the program, and it takes me to 13.0.2 I believe.  I can use Photoshop as normal after that.   Here's what I think is funny... I can check for updates to my heart's content after updating to 13.0.x.  The program thinks there's no updates available after 13.0.x.  The only way my system knows there's a later version out there is if I power down my system and restart it.  Then and only then will Adobe Application Manager come up and tell me there's an update available (13.1.2) which, if I chooose to install (and I did), takes me back to the error that I mentioned earlier: "Adobe Photoshop cannot run on this computer becuse this version of Photoshop requires Windows 7 or later".  Soooo with all of this said... DOES ANYONE know how the updated version of Photoshop (13.1.2) for Creative Cloud Subscribers checks to see if it's running on a Windows 7 system?  For whatever reason, it doesn't think I have Windows 7 after updating to it, and I'm stuck!  I know if I contact Adobe Support, they're going to want to uninstall ALL of my Adobe software of which I have alot, and then reinstall everything... and quite frankly, I think all that is a bunch of crap!  It's plain and simple... Photoshop works BEFORE the update, and will not open due to this error AFTER the update, so there's some issue with the updating procedure that causes Photoshop to not recognize my Windows 7 system, and I just pray that SOMEBODY out there might be able to help me change some setting on my system that will cause Photoshop 13.1.2 to actually work!
UPDATE: I decided to check the 32-bit version of 13.1.2, and it works!  So it looks like this error is limited to the 64-bit version.  That just makes no sense at all to me.

  • Can't use the keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop CS6 when updating Mavericks

Can't use the keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop CS6 when updating Mavericks

Thanks everyone. What worked for me was a version of the suggestions above. I had the problem with the ≠ character appearing in all my Photoshop CS6 keyboard shortcuts and rendering them largely unusable. However, I don't have any other keyboards besides US English enabled on my Mac. I do have Spell Catcher installed, which works through the keyboard input method. So, I switched from Spell Catcher back to English (with the US flag), launched Photoshop and presto, my keyboard shortcuts were restored, absent that obnoxious ≠ symbol. Once in Photoshop, if I reselect Spell Catcher, the ≠ symbol returns so I have to run Photoshop without the help of Spell Catcher - or forego the use of keyboard shortcuts while it's on. Since the developer of Spell Catcher passed away last year there will be no more updates to the otherwise very useful utility. Apparently this keyboard shortcut problem in the various guises reported here is linked to some element of the OS X input method in Mavericks, as Photoshop seems to manifest the issue in relation to one specific input source or another. This is the first application in my experience to have a problem with Spell Catcher in OS X 10.9. So I will continue to use it, except in Photoshop. Spell Catcher was never updated for Mountain Lion or Mavericks so people like me will have to use it "at our own risk" as the saying goes. Be that as it may, it does appear to be a bug in Photoshop that's at the root of this matter as different people have somewhat different problems with the OS X input method - not that I expect either Adobe or Apple to do anything about it.

  • Photoshop elements 8 updates

Are there photoshop elements 8 updates to view canon 6d raw files please

For the 6d you need upgrade to PSE12 or wait for PSE13. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in PSE8 (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software - Canon DPP on the software disk with your camera). You could use DPP to convert to tiff for editing in PSE8 but DNG will give you a more efficient file. A tiff is usually much bigger.
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 7.3
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 7.3
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Photoshop 7.0 update can't find Photoshop 7.0 files.

I am trying to install Photoshop 7.0 update and when I run the exe file it says it can't find the original installation. I have reinstalled 7.0 three times from disk and still get the same results. I can see the 7.0 folder from the "Browse" during the install yet it says it still can't find it.
Is there any other way to install the update?
    Thank you,
    C Gary P

Does Photoshop 7.0 launch successfully without the update being applied?  Also what is the volume of drive you are installing on named?  Are there any special characters in the installation path?
Another trick you can try is to remove your current installation and then try installing Photoshop 7.0 to the root of the drive and try updating there.  This has been useful when there has been problems locating the proper software to be patched in the past.
