Photoshop CS and core 2 cpu
can anyone tell me if photshop CS makes use of core2CPU. I have just changed to windows vista and have a core2 cpu. Large files are excrutiatingly long time to do anything.
2GB RAM
The Photoshop SDK (Software Developers Kit) is used by programmers
(developers) who want to write their own programs that use Photoshop,
or add to Photoshop. Such as, the authors of plug-ins.
Because there are dozens of forums, each with its own experts, it's
important to choose the right one.
At the top of the forum messages on the web you should see "Adobe
Photoshop Developers (SDK) ...
This forum is for users of the Adobe Photoshop Software Development
Kit. It is not a general Photoshop forum. For discussions about Adobe
Photoshop please visit one of the following Forums..."
Above all, this is not a way of reaching the developers of Photoshop,
nor is there any direct way to do this.

Licensing and quad core CPU`s
Hi I hope someone can help me here.
We have CF8 enterprise edition installed on a 32 bit OS with 2 dual core CPU`s.
What I want to know is, can I use the same license to migrate CF8 to a new server that has a 64 bit OS with 2 quad core CPU`s.
Also are there any other issues to take into account?.
Any thoughts from anyone who has experience with this kind of thing would be appreciated. Thank you :-)
P.S I tried asking Adobe customer support but it was a waste of time, they couldnt understand the question. My question does make sense right?Seconded. Once of the nice things about their licensing is that it actually specified "physical" cpus rather than just cores, as Microsoft stuff often does.

How much RAM, and what CPU do I need for Adobe InDesign ?
hi guys....
each series of Adobe products, I notice that the products get heavy and more heavy than the previous one, so let's talk about the CS2 of Adobe products ( where I first dealt with Photoshop and InDesign) they were good as for the system requirements and the boot time, then the CS3 came out, and I then noticed that the prorammes, and especially InDesign, I noticed that it takes more time to load when I launch the programme, while it's running smoothly when using it , and 1 or 2 years later , the CS4 came out which was really noticeable that its heavier than its predecessor set, and now I am using InDesign CS5 ME on a trial basis, and I really can't describe how heavy it's, it's really tough on my PC to deal with, the loading takes more than what InDesign used to take in its previous versions, but now it's not only the loading time that's longer , but it's also heavy in real-time usage, so I mean that noticed a big difference between it and its previous versions, that when I place a material for example, I really notice a sluggish movement even when drawing some frames for example, or adjusting some photos, though my PC is not that old, and here are the specifications of it:
motherboard : P5KP-C/1600
CPU: 3GHz, 6 MB, 1333 FSB, Core2 Duo (E8400) overclocked to 3.2 GHz.
RAM: 4 GB DDR2 @ 800 FSB (2x2).
GPU: Nvidia 8500GT 1GB DDR2.
HDD: 500GB @ 7200 RPM, 16 MB buffer.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
so as you see... it's still powerful, but I would to ask whether InDesign needs more RAM ? of it will even avail the extra amount of RAM that I may though in my PC ?? or all the matter that the programme is coded for SSDs ? and don't tell me that I need a quad-core CPU .
though I have just bought a (boxed ) Core i7 860, but I still need some time to finish the upgrade process, and this is due to the finance crisis I undergo by now.
so do you think InDesign can make use of more than 4 GB of RAM ?
thank you guys.WaaaaaW you are amazing...
I tried to set it to "never" but this yielded with no difference, then I tried to set it to "delayed" and it yielded with resolving the issue, but there is still a slowdown till the article get spread accordingly with its frame, so I do confess that moving frames and drawing/pulling their sides are now flawless, but spreading the article to its frame requires about a second to respond, that it doesn't interact to the mouse immediatly.
so I really thank appreciate it for you, and thanks for the helpful answer .
but I am curious to know what was that option you mentioned all about which changed the scenario ???
- by the way... feel free to explain in English, since I do like English, and even my computer is set to English as the starting language, including all my programmes, and application, you may laugh if I tell you that I feel like being lost if I work on a computer which is Arabic language, though its may native language, but I just got used to English since it's the language that I learnt computer with.
all the best. -
(CS4) Photoshop 32Bit + Bridge + Win7 = CPU 100% all the time
This is something that occurred to me many times now:
I need to use the 32Bit-Version of Photoshop because of all the Plugins I use and some of them run ONLY on one of them at a time, like PixelBender ( W H Y ? ? ? )
So: Whenever I have Photoshop 32bits running (because it would default to 64bits where my plugins are not available) and open Bridge afterwards to open a file in PS, Photoshop stays at 100% CPU (on one of the cores) all the time without any reason. I also checked if there were selections active (yes, selections sometimes pretty much need a LOT of CPU power, whyever!)
Otherwise, when I first start Bridge and THEN Photoshop 32Bits, the CPU usage is okay. Something seems using up much CPU power in some kind of endless loop / dead lock or something?!
It's quite annoying, because I don't use Bridge that often. Sometimes I want to start Bridge "on demand". And if I have opened Photoshop already I would have to close down everything just to be able to start Bridge again without losing a full CPU core.
So if anyone has the same issues like me: Just reverse the opening order: First open Bridge, THEN open Photoshop and everything should be fine.I don't have an answer to your question about the infinite loop, but I can answer this:
function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
Ninarama wrote:

A plugin is a special kind of callable function library (Dynamic Link Library, or DLL in Windows speak). A 32 bit DLL cannot be used by a 64 bit version of Photoshop. In order to use the completely different instruction set the processor provides for 64 bit operation, the plugin code must be compiled specifically for 64 bit operation.
All plugins developed before the time of Photoshop CS4 were originally developed as 32 bit applications, because Photoshop was only 32 bit. Even today, 32 bit users outnumber 64 bit users by a large margin.
Microsoft makes it almost trivially easy to compile 32 bit source code as a 64 bit application, BUT... If the programmer hasn't been careful in his use of data types - specifically those that will be a different size (e.g., a pointer will be increased from 32 bits to 64 bits), then doing so - even if the software compiles successfully - might yield a non-functional plugin.
Sadly, many programmers are not careful with their use of data types. This is 30+ years of software engineering talking.
With good design and good coding practices, the code will be good and the programmer will be able to compile a 64 bit plugin quickly. Even bad code can be cleaned up in time, so that it can be made to work in 64 bit form.
But there's even more that must be done...
Most serious software uses an installer.
Installing software on a 64 bit system requires big changes to the installation package, or maybe even a whole new installer. There is, for example, the added complexity that you, the user, might want the proper variant of the plugin installed into each of your 32 bit and 64 bit Photoshop installations. And possibly multiples (e.g., CS4, CS5). Creating a good installer package is somewhat akin to designing a rocket booster. Except that the latter is generally agreed to be easier.
And all this is just on the Windows side! It must be repeated for the Mac, assuming the plugin is marketed into that segment as well.
So... If your favorite plugin doesn't run under Photoshop x64, and the author doesn't have an upgrade available that does, maybe they are struggling to make it work, maybe they decided the x64 user market isn't big enough for their attention right now, or maybe they're just working on something else.
Probably more than you wanted to know, eh?

What do i do with a very slow Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements on a PC?
I seem to be getting mixed opinions as to why my Adobe software gets so slow, despite efforts to avoid that, but my computer seems to be working just fine, it is only when in Adobe that the problems arise, like freezing, taking longer and longer periods of time to open the screen to edit a photo, or to compare two photos side by side. Any process seems to take such a long time, and the freezing can last for several minutes, and then continue on. I have had a computer person come to my house and examine my computer and though his knowledge of Photoshop is limited, he feels that it is NOT the computer but something with Adobe Photoshop. I would tend to agree with him.
Several theories have been explained to me, such as Elements and Premiere Elements are a low end of the scale of Photoshop programs, so it is just not going to be able to process high definition large photos well and quickly. Stating comments like i can only use 2 GB of my memory even though i have 8 GB, so unless i can use 64 bit this is what i have to deal with, and it is just a way for Photoshop to say you need to upgrade to the fancier programs. I do not need fancier programs. I am working hard to master these, and have accomplished 4 great blu rays in high definition thanks to recommendations from the Forum here, especially Steve with the help of his books.
Others say i need a solid state hard drive to solve the problem. Others say the only way i will ever solve the problem is to switch to a MAC. Others state is a mal-ware problem, but i have never had my hard drive so clean and uncluttered. I supposedly have as good of PC as i could have as far as QUAD-core, 8GB memory, presently a 1 TB hard drive less than 1/2 full. All suggestions involve big outlays of money, with no guarantee that things will be any better. I have tried to contact different computer companies and computer 'nerds', and these are some of the suggestions, but no one really has a lot of knowledge of the Photoshop software.
I am thinking of adding an additional internal hard drive, but not sure that is going to help either. Could i put all my Photoshop of the second hard drive, and might that speed things up?
Adobe is rather worthless in trying to get help from them. I have spent hours on the phone waiting and then talking to someone who says they understand English but they do NOT understand the question i am asking, which becomes very frustrating with repeat phone calls. I gave up yesterday trying to do that challenging experience yesterday after i had spent 3 times the amount of time they said i would need to wait to get a reply, and i was at work, and my free time had come to an end. So i am hoping you guys can give me some clues of the best thing to do.
Is it true that Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements are just such a lower end program that trying to do things in high definition, with 2000x1500 photos, making them into a blu ray disc is a major challenge with a PC? I wish i had a greater computer knowledge, but i have struggled to achieve my goal, but the speed of it all gets very frustrating, though it is possible.
Another question asked which i don't think exists, is whether there is a program that could clean up Photoshop, or are there some clues that could accomplish that and thereby speed things up.
Would appreciate any suggestions anyone has. I am in the middle of another project so now is probably not the best time to consider any major changes. But any comments would be appreciated.
RonPremiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.

Photoshop CS5 and AE CS5 Crash
Hi all.
I have a problem with PS and AE, both CS5. I bought the Production Suite, uninstalled everything from Adobe, restarted, and installed the production suite. It worked fine for one day, for Photoshop Cs5 Ext. 64bit, I worked on some images, it did everything, it quit without crashing. I opened in the same day every product on Production suite and they all opened without problems. Today, I went on to work in AE and it crashes right after the splash screen, when the interface is starting to show-up without any kind of error, just "Adobe After Effects stopped working... A problem caused the app..." no more info on that. So I tried every other application on the suite, and they all (Premiere CS5, Illustrator CS5, Flash, Soundbooth opened without errors) excluding Photoshop Cs5 64bit (the 32bit is working), if freezes on the splash screen in "initializing menus" (again without any error, just Adobe Photoshop stopped working....").
So I updated my graphic card drivers up to no avail. I deleted "AdobeFnt**.lst" as suggested in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/840/cpsid_84000.html .
I haven't installed any fonts (nor since Windows 7 Installation nor since photoshop working and the next day)
The only thing I did was update my wacom I4 tablet driver, but then I already tried re-installing the production suite without results. All other applications in the suite work. Even Premiere so I don't think it has to do with the graphic card. Maybe the fonts? But I can't seem to delete them anyway, nor do I know which ones are essential to the system.
My pc is as follows:
Intel Core2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.0GHz
4GB Ram
Windows 7 64bit
Ati Radeon HD 4800 Series (with Last drivers from amd site, reseted to Default settings)
I would really be grateful if someone could help me here, thank you
Micael Nussbaumer
Edit:
Ok, so it was Wacom Intuos 4 last driver that was messing up. I uninstalled, and re-installed the default drivers that came with the wacom table and it started working again. But I think this is a glitch in Adobe's software, b/c only those 2 applications (AE & PS64bit) had the problem, the other ones worked fine, plus PS 32bit. Anyway it's solved.
Message was edited by: mnussOk, so I've managed to put the latest driver of wacom (6.1.5-3) working with Cs5 64 and AE in Windows 7 64 bits.
I always had problems with the driver that came with my Wacom tablet, it would not keep presets, and If i tried to load them I would get a C++ error.
If I uploaded to the latest wacom driver it wouldn't launch PS CS 64b nor AE, crashing while starting.
So, the solution was very simple. I uninstalled the wacom driver (and the plugins for IE and Netscape also on the uninstal pannel), unplugged the wacom tablet, restarted the pc, and then installed only the latest driver from wacom (ran as administrator). It works like a charm. AE and PS start without problems, there aren't slowdowns and I can keep my preferences for the tablet/load them.
Hope this helps -
Photoshop CS6 (and other Adobe applications) keep crashing
The crashing started with the Retina update for Photoshop and Illustrator. At first the occasional crash happend, but now it's doing it litreally every 2 minutes! I don't think its a problem with my system since the issue started as soon as I got the Retina update and I've had no issues prior. If it helps I have the 2.3GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB 1600MHz RAM, Retina Macbook Pro with OS X version 10.8.2. I'm not sure if all of the Adobe applications are affected, but I know Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are.
This is part of the "Problem Details" window that popped up after crashing:

This really needs to be fixed, if anyone has a solution please let me know, it's making my A-levels impossible to do!
Thanks
EDIT: I've noticed that when I press the T key in InDesign to bring up the type tool, the application crashes. Trying this in Photoshop it doesn't! Very strange. We can't help you with InDesign crashes in this forum.
And to figure out the cause of a crash, we'd need to see the entire crash report, not just the first few lines.
But you should make sure that all the applicaitons are up to date. -
Photoshop CS3 and Bridge crashing after update
Updated to 10.6.3. today. There's a dialogue box on boot-up that refers to Java, but I don't know what it says. Everything else seems okay except for Photoshop CS3 and Bridge, which both stay open for a few seconds and then crash.
Thread 9 crashed with X86 Thread State (32-bit):

Photoshop CS and Acrobat 6.0 stopped working in Snow Leopard
Hello. "Photoshop CS" and "Acrobat 6.0 Standard" suddenly stopped working in my iMac, apparently after I upgraded it to MacOS 10.6.8 (the latest version of Snow Leopard). Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade. I deleted Photoshop CS and tried to re-install it from the original CD, but the installation never proceeds because I get an error message entitled: "Install Adobe Photoshop CS quit unexpectedly". This is the full error message:

Hardware acceleration doesn´t work with 6-core CPU?
Hi,
i´ve upgraded recently my PC to a Phenom X6 6-core CPU and i have encountered a major problem with the Flash player since then.
For example, Youtube HD videos don´t get scaled correctly when watched in fullscreen mode but instead the standard-view gets resized to my screen resolution without scaling
The result looks like this.
http://img217.imageshack.us/i/hd6850y.jpg/
I am pretty sure that even though i activated hardware-acceleration only software-acceleration is used to scale the videos. There seems to be a conflict between the 6-core CPU and the Flash player. I noticed that some software doesn´t work properly with the rather new 6-core CPU´s and it´s probably the same case with Flash player. I think it doesn´t recognize the CPU and switches automatically into software-scaling.
I already re-installed Flash Player several times and tried out several AMD Catalyst drivers for my graphic card. No results.
Any help is appreciated.
My system specs are:
Win XP Professional SP3, latest Flash Player version, latest AMD catalyst, AMD Phenom X6 CPU, AMD HD6850 GPU.
Message was edited by: FredFuchervonFachYes, i already updated my graphic card drivers several times.
There is no difference between running with or without hardware acceleration which supports my assumption that hardware acceleration doesn´t work, i guess.
The results are exactly the same
I´m running:
Win XP Professional SP3 32Bit
Firefox 3.6.16
Flash Player version 10,2,153,1
ÁMD Catalyst 11.3

Which iMac for use with Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom
Any opinions on which iMac is best for use with Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom. Not sure if the 2.7 i5 with 512 graphics card is Plenty of power or if upgrading to the 3.1 i5 or 3.4 i7 is a wiser choice given the price differences. Appreciate the help
So I was reading over your post, and even though this is older and has to do with CS5, I have some information for CS6 that will be relevant to your question now that it is time to upgade the software. In general Photoshop has always been more about RAM than Processing power, though that is important too. Until CS5 it could never quite take advantage of what multi-core processors really had to offer, and even the graphics card didn't really effect much of it outside of certain features and the 3D optio
Now that is no longer true and Adobe can effeciently use all aspects of the computer to give you much better performance.
So much so that I was able to buy a brand New ASUS with the following specs:
Dual Core 2.2GHz Processors
8GB of RAM (4GB original to the machine)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit OS
320GB HDD w/ 5400RPM
This machine not only runs photoshop CS6 and Launches in less than 5 Seconds... it can run Premier and After Effects as well, and this Laptop cost me less than $400 (on sale at Best Buy 2 Weeks Ago. You don't have to buy something this cheap, but isn't it great that you can and still run Master Collection effectively?
You can read my details on how to buy a Photoshop CS6 Laptop, what specs you need, comparison between Mac and PC and watch the video of my Photoshop Speed Test by reading this article:

Using Photoshop CS6 and after printing approx. 10 cards on an Epson R3000 printer the program gives me a dialog box saying "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." Even after closing and reopening the program, the print command is greyed out so I cannot select any printer. This also happens with a Brother laser printer. Both printers will produce a test page out side of the Adobe product. Help!
I cannot get any help either. I get the message "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." I have reinstalled all drivers, powered off/on all printers (2 of them - a Brother HL - 4040cn and an Epson Stylus Pro 7890 - which all worked fine until this morning). There appears to be no path to a solution. I have read all the forums and tried about 20 different suggestions all to no avail. Reboots, changing cables, reinstalling printers and drivers and Photoshop CS6 - ALL TO NO AVAIL. On a macbook pro retina with 10.10.3. This issue is out there and some get solutions - but not all - that's my crowd...the not all crowd. I have yet to be able to print from CS6 any more. This is a show stopper and my patience is wearing thin. And I'm tired of stupid questions like "is your printer powered on?" give me a break. This appears to be an adobe photoshop cs6 problem - as I can print from every other application. Anyone have any ideas? Adobe should have something?... Adobe system info below:
