Photoshop CS + Camera Raw + Nikon D80

Hello,
I'm using P'shop CS on MAC 10.4.9 and recently upgraded my camera to a Nikon D80. I discovered that P'shop CS does not support D80 RAW thru the existing RAW plug-in (2.4) --apparently, the Camera RAW plug-in is supported by P'shop CS up thru version 2.X.
And, the D80 is NOT supported by 2.X; but, I have been told the D80 IS supported by Camera RAW 3.X . However, not ready to upgrade P'shop CS quite yet.
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A WORK AROUND TO GET THE D80 CAMERA RAW SUPPORTED BY CS?
Thanks Very Much,
John

What John says is right. Digital cameras do not shoot at higher resolution in the raw mode. If we use 6 MP as a "general" reference, the camera is taking a picture that is 2000 pixels high and 3000 pixels wide. The resolution (72 PPI or 240 PPI or whatever) is simply used as a reference to help you understand how big the image would be at any given resolution. Generally speaking, JPEG images are usually reported at 72 PPI because (generally) JPEG images are often used for viewing on a computer screen whereas raw images will be used more commonly for printing as individual images or as part of a group of images for a magazine, for instance. Again, the 72 PPI or the 240 PPI are simply references to tell you that if those six megapixels are "squeezed" so that they are that close together, that is how big the image would be. But as far as the image is concerned, it is the same image regardless of what the resolution reports.

Trying to update Photoshop 5 Camera Raw. Get message installation failed. No other information. Please advise. Running Windows 7 64 bit on Dell Precision m4500. 8G 500G. Is there an alternative way to update the camera profiles in ACR. I am trying to add a Nikon D750 and Canon Powershot G15.

you can update ps cs5 manually:, http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
but you can only update to cr 6.7 and that camera needs 8.7 or better.
your options are to upgrade your ps or use the dng converter, Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7

  • What is the optimum core configuration for a new Mac Pro to process and manipulate very large (80 megapixel) images using PhotoShop and Camera Raw?

    Hello:
I will be using creative techniques to process and manipulate a large number (hundreds) of very large (80 megapixel) images captured using a medium format digital back (Phase One IQ180).
Final output will be digital fine art imagery printed using an Epson 11880 at large sizes (up to 60 inches x ?), retaining the highest possible quality and resolution. I will be using Adobe CC PhotoShop and Camera RAW as well as Capture One software. PhotoShop filters will be used extensively.
The Mac Pro needs to be optimized for the above purpose and be useful for at least five years. I plan to max out all the other options (RAM, graphics cards, storage). Performance is more important than cost.
The few discussions I have found that mention optimum core configurations seem to lean toward 6 or 8 (but likely are not taking into consideration my need for manipulating a large number of very large files), so I am looking to this foum for opinions.
    Thank you,
    Kent

  • Can't open CR2 files in photoshop and camera raw

This weekend I rented a Canon 5D Mark iii. I have downloaded the files and all of the thumbnails in camera raw say CR2 and when I try to open Photoshop does not recognize this product.
    I have:
    Photoshop CS4
    Camera Raw CS4
    Canon 5D Mark ii
I have checked my updates folder and all my updates are current. Do I need to upgrade to CS5 or is there a way around this?

Hi I recently had a problem opening CR2 files in PHotoshop cs4. I had to reinstall into a new computer, so obviously it installed the basic programme and not the updates.
After trying everything, even calling the help desk, there was apparently nothing that can be donw as they no longer support cs4.
I kept trying and found a you tube video, which i cant find again to add the link but i followed the link and with what I did earlier I can now open CR2 files in my photoshop cs4
I found the relevany update that I needed to install and downloaded it, camera raw 5.2 ( Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Camera Raw 5.2 update )  this is the one for the Canon 5d Mk2
After downloading it would not update the progeramme so I was in the same possition, but i noticed the files were there and i just needed to put them in the right place in photoshop so carried on looking for were to put the Plus In.
This led me to the video.
    To the point.
Download the update and save to a location where you will remember.
open Adobe photoshop and go to "edit"
    Them " Preferences "
    then "General "
    Then " Plus-Ins"
At the top you will see " Add Plug-Ins Folder " Check this box then navigate to the "win64" ( this is because mine is a windows 64 bit computer and the download is specific ) and Choose it.
Shut down photo shop and try to open a raw.
Bridge doesnt work for some reason but im going to keep looking.
Hope this works for you as well.

  • Photoshop to Camera Raw in Bridge

I am TRYING to work with Iphoto, Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw in Bridge.  I have set Photoshop CS5 as my external editor in Iphoto.  I double click on photo (jpg) and it opens in Photoshop.  I need to take the photo (jpg) from Photoshop to Camera Raw in the Bridge.  How do I do this?  OR is there a way to go directly from Iphoto to Camera Raw in the Bridge?  If by some miracle I can find my photo when in Bridge (iphoto makes finding a photo VERY difficult) when I make changes in Camera Raw they do NOT register in Iphoto.  Without all the detail, I want my edited photos (camera raw/photoshop) to show up EDITED in iPhoto.  Help!

iPhoto is cr@p.  At the very least, you have to admit that it doesn't play nice with any other graphics application.  Dump it.
Now, Bridge is a 32-bit application, so when you have Bridge host Camera Raw, Camera Raw also runs in 32 bits.  In contrast, and even though it is the very same plug-in, Camera Raw runs in 64 bits when hosted by Photoshop.
To find your actual image(s) in the Finder, which the crappy iPhoto hides in libraries, you need to highlight said library in the Finder and Control-click (or Right-click) on the icon, then select Show Package Contents in the contextual menu.  Then navigate in the Contents of that package until you find your original and drag it out of there to a sensible place where Bridge can see it.
    Again, dump iPhoto.  My ¢2.

  • Opening JPG directly in Photoshop, passing Camera Raw

Hi! I would like to open JPGs that were edited in Camera Raw directly in Photoshop and I saw in this video from Russel Brown how I could do this. Only, he is using Bridge CS3 in the video and I am using CS4. The thing is that I don't have "Always open JPEG files with setting using Camera Raw", instead I have a dropdown with: "Disable JPEG support", "Automatically open JPEG with settings" and "Automatically open all supported JPEG". I tried these options but they don't help.
    Menu options in the video
The menu options that are available to me
    Do you have any solutions?
    Thank you,
    Victor

I just realised that setting to "Disable JPEG support" bypasses Camera Raw, but it has to be done to every file individually, and in that video from Russel Brown he just set an option and every JPEG opened in Photoshop bypassed Camera Raw. Do you know if this feature can be set in CS4 too?
    Thank you,
    Victor

  • Please direct me to the Photoshop CS6 camera raw plugin for Canon G15 digital camera

please direct me to the Photoshop CS6 camera raw plugin for Canon G15 digital camera
    Thank you

    Hi, rich_fred.
As the Canon G15 is a very new model, support is not yet available through Camera Raw. In the meantime, try out the software that came with you camera, to see if it can export a TIF or JPEG, which should open up in Photoshop just fine.
Hopefully support for the G15 will be available in the next Camera Raw update. You can find a list of supported cameras here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.html

  • Photoshop CC Camera RAW and 32bit files problem

The new Camera RAW from Photoshop CC has problem with 32bit EXR,HDR files when camera calibration is set to 2012 mode. Very bright tones like specular highlights are flattened and there is no possibility to bring them back. Old modes (2010, 2003) are working fine.

Photoshop CC camera raw 8.5 where is the fill light and recovery buttons
Hi Teresa, you may have worked this out already? but i just downloaded Photoshop CC and I too used the recovery and fill light buttons and couldnt see them in the raw processing window... HOWEVER!! i did some research and they are available!! YAY, you can toggle between the latest and the older layout... and the recovery and fill optoins ARE  there... the link explains it... but when you open some raw files... on the right you should see a little camera - camera calibration button when you click on there the first drop down PROCESS - change to 2012 mode and then click back to the BASIC processing wheel and they will be there... cheers Danni

  • How do I update photoshop CC camera raw to 8.4?

How do I update Photoshop CC camera raw from 8.3 to 8.4? I keep getting an error message in Lightroom 5 that my camera raw plugin needs to be updated to 8.4.  thanx...Miriam

I don't know anything about Lightroom, but CC is best updated via the Desktop Application Manager.  Unfortunately, that seems to be pretty flaky.  There was an update for the Desktop Application Manager just a few days ago, which fixed a problem I was having.   It only checks for updates once a day, so depending where you are in the world, you might not hear about an update for hours after other people.  You can bypass this delay by signing out, and back in again, which forces a scan and notifies you of available updates.
In actual fact, ACR8.5 has just been released, but as a Release Candidate, and I don't think you get notified about RCs until they are released as full updates.
BTW  It was interesting that you thought people would guess you are from Canada by way of your use of a French word.  Wikipedia says that French is the official language in 29 countries.  My first guess was that you were posting from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or maybe even, (and this was just a guess) France!

  • Lightroom to photoshop no camera raw

When i export raw, dng, tiff files to photoshop cc, camera raw never appears. I've tried tweaking settings, everything is updated. Why is this happening ???

There is no need to go to the Camera Raw interface. Lightroom has all the same exact controls as Camera Raw does. When Lightroom sends an image to Photoshop, Camera Raw is simply used to interpret the Lightroom adjustments. The image is interpreted and then sent directly to Photoshop. If you want access to the Camera Raw interface you will have to open your images as smart objects and then go to Camera Raw from Photoshop.
Added later: the workflow I described is what happens when you use the "Edit in Photoshop" option. You are talking about "exporting" to Photoshop. How are you exporting?

  • Trouble with Adobe Camera Raw, Nikon D750, Photoshop CC 2014

I have Photoshop CC 2014 running on an HP ZBook 15 with Windows 7 Professional. I recently downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.311. I did not install the DNG converter. I shoot raw in my Nikon D750. I download the NEF images to my HP laptop using a memory card reader. I installed Bridge from Creative Cloud. When I check in Photoshop CC 2014, it says the Camera Raw 8.7.1.311 plug-in is present. But if I try to open a NEF image, it fails and says it is an unsupported file type. When I go into Bridge, the "Open using Camera Raw" option is faded and cannot be selected. So what do I do? TIA, Rob

Success! My problem was I had the old version of the Nikon software on my computer and I had used that to download the photos. I copied the NEF files directly from my memory card reader and then could open them no problem in Photoshop CC 2014. Many thanks to gener7 and all who made suggestions.

  • RAW (NEF) photos from my new Nikon D750 will not open with Photoshop Elements11 Camera RAW.

RAW (NEF) photos from my new Nikon D750 will not open in Camera RAS with Photoshop Elements 11. This has not been a problem with previous Nikon cameras. I'm using a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9.5. How can I solve this problem?  Thanks.

Aside from upgrading to pse 13, you can use the 8.7.1 adobe dng converter to convert the files to dng copies, which pse 11 should then open.
