Photoshop CS. Crash and REPAIR....
Hiya
today Photoshop CS (version 8)... decided not to open!
I browsed the forums and see a lot of issues going on... someone suggested deleting
com.adobe.Photoshop.plist so i did... still crashed...
AND it created a new one... which I expected it to do... I then read it!!!!!
"bplist00—_Selected Data Source_A/Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources/X1100 Series Scanner.ds"
i deleted (removed) The TWAIN plug in from Import/Export folder and its all working again!

I'm not having issues with Appleworks 6... actually i don't use it... but I just turned it on and it seems to be OK.
Don't have Elements installed.
did you read the plist info?
delete it and a new one appears and I would assume whatever the last item is trying to load would be the issue!

Photoshop CC crashes, and my working file disappears from the network
I was just wondering, has anyone ever had Photoshop CC crash, and then realize the file you were working on disappeared off the network?
I've had other files where it created a 'recovered' file upon reopening of Photoshop, but the one that crashed it, is gone...
is there a way to allocate/recover that missing file?There is typically no way to get back lost files, short of restoring backups. I hope your administrator is backing up your server regularly.
May I suggest you change your working habits to avoid working on files directly on your network server. Instead, copy the file to your local PC with your OS tools (e.g., Finder) and work on it there, save it there, then when you are done copy it back to the network server.
Adobe always advises not to save files directly to the network, because of the possibility that things can go wrong and data be lost.

I have radeon hd 6700 graphics card yet photoshop keeps crashing and say its not supported
I don't know why but for some reason photoshop keeps crashing and tells me to go to some webpage because i keeps saying i don't have 512mb of ram but i have 1 gb. I don't have a clue on how to fix it.
Hello! you might have another graphic card that is not disabled. Could you please post the contents of Help>System info... so that we can help you troubleshoot it?

Photoshop cs2 crashes and reboot windows xp without any error message when I try to open a file
Hi,
I downloaded the trial version (assessment for thirty days) of Adobe Photoshop cs2. Once installed the trial version, the program works correctly, except for a basic function: to open files and modify them. Any image files (jpeg-gif-png-tiff-bmp-psd) on press command FILE>OPEN, or Ctrl+O, to open it, sends the system in crash, and without any warning message, send to "restart" the operating system, in my case , windows xp.
I use also photoshop cs, and it works correctly and allows to open file image also; but not with cs2.
What's the problem?The error message I see in a Event Viewer after the program crashed is the following:

I need help - Adobe Photoshop CC Crashing and Burning when trying to utilize my favorite plugin! :(
That's right... this flagship of prime and lovable software goes crashing and burning every time I try to use my favorite plugin. It works just fine in CS5! I've tried contacting the developers and everyone to know avail. Can someone at the lovable Adobe help me with this issue!?

Photoshop CC Crashes and Opens Help Webpage
All of this started within the last week:
Photoshop opens INCREDIBLY slow every time I open it.
If I minimize Photoshop, or click on another program, window, etc, and then try to return to Photoshop by clicking on it's window or task bar icon, nothing happens and I'm forced to kill Photoshop from my task manager and reopen. This happens sporadically.
Photoshop has up and crashed without warning three times in the last week (I use it almost every day).
Yesterday, it started to doing this LOVELY thing where if Photoshop was selected in any manner (including right-clicking the task bar icon), it would automatically open the community Help website, resulting in dozens of tabs opening in my internet explorer in a matter of seconds. This happened twice yesterday.
Computer specs:
Gateway DX4840
Win 7 64 bit (latest updates installed)
16gigs of Ramm
Photoshop CC is up to date
Virus scans show the PC is clean
I defrag and clean my registry regularly.
I haven't been doing anything fancy in Photoshop when these things occur, no plugins, no fancy scripts, just basic photo-editing, brushes, etc. I haven't made any changes to my computer (software or hardware) that would suggest being a potential culprit, excluding the latest Windows updates, which DID install last week, around the time these issues started. Has anyone else encountered a similiar issue with Photoshop lately, or know if the latest Win 7 update has caused some issues for people?

Photoshop CS6 Crashing and acting erratically while working with 3D
So,.. CS6 keeps crashing and doing crazy things on me while working on my 2D/3D composite digital room setting. It seems to me like what's causing most of the crashing is the materials. Here's the problems:
- Crashes constantly while simply trying to select a material from the 3D panel
- Sometimes places meshes in a totally different spot in the scene and dissallows me to move them elsewhere
- Meshes are gone when opening the file, and I can't get them to reappear
So, as you may assume, I'm trying to stay composed at this point. My artwork would look great if, well, 3D in CS6 would simply WORK. But I'm remaining calm, and consulting you all..
I'm modeling, texturing, and UV mapping the 3D room objects (such as tables, chairs, hutches, etc.) in Maya 7, exporting as .obj files and placing into PS, and merging them with the scene layer in order for everything to have consistent lighting.
I've also tried taking the 3D settings to Basic and the shadow quality to low, in case the crashes are due to cpu performance. I've also went and got the latest update for PS CS6

AndyUnfortunately I can't offer you all that much direct 3D help EXCEPT to say that in all the time I have been working with Photoshop CS6 Extended's 3D stuff (on two different systems) I have seen more or less stability with the 3D facilities depending on my display driver versions. At one point earlier this year, while on the ATI Catalyst 12.3 driver I believe it was, I could edit 3D stuff literally for hours without faults. At the moment, with 12.8 (and a different ATI card than I had before), most stuff works but there are still cases where I can cause it to crash.
Display driver failures can end up looking like anything but display driver issues, which is why I mentioned the above. To you it may seem like Photoshop is buggy as hell, but really it's something about your system causing it.
I realize my ATI experience is only marginally useful to you, but it's entirely possible a display driver upgrade could help you. In your case you'll want to visit nVidia.com and see if they have released an updated display driver version for your card.

Why does my Photoshop CC crash and lose my actions?
At times, my PS crashes and when I reload it some of my actions are missing. I have them all on my laptop but its very aggravating to reload and place them where I want them. Is there some way I can save how I have them loaded? It also puts brushes back in that I've deleted.
pretty simple really...Photoshop stores the then current state of actions/brushes/presets (and a lot of other things) when you launch and then quite Photoshop normally. However, if you crash after launch, Photoshop goes back to the last saved state of the application...so, if you do a lot of work with actions, brushes or presets, it behooves you to then quite Photoshop normally (so those changes get saved) and then restart Photoshop. Then if you crash (and really, you shouldn't be crashing on a regualr basis) your relaunch of Photoshop will incorporate all those changes when launched.

Photoshop CS3 crashing and freezing
I'm running PSCS3 on WinXP using a P4 processor. Lately, both Bridge and PS are freezing and crashing. I've tried to pinpoint what I'm doing when this occurs but can't seem to find a consistent workmode issue. Other times, if I leave the program running without activity for more than one hour, it also freezes.
I also have Photoshop Elements 8.0 installed but don't use them concurrently. Perhaps shared files would cause my problem.
Nevertheless, my initial instinct is to uninstall PSCS3 and reinstall it. But I don't have discs as it was an upgrade download from the Adobe website. So I would need some direction from you on how to effect a new download since it appears that you no longer offer this option.
I have the appropriate serial numbers of PSCS3 if necessary.
An upgrade to PSCS5 is around the corner when my new i7 machine arrives in Sept. So upgrading now is not an option

This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem. -
Photoshop CC crashes and doesn't recognize display drivers.
I just built this brand new computer and everytime I open up Photoshop CC it first promps me with a message that 3d features require a minimum of 512mb of vRam and it has detected less on my system. I then go into Edit>Preference>Performance and under Graphics Processor Settings it says that it is Unable to detect information and that photoshop has detected an error in my display driver.
This is a brand new computer the specs are:
Windows 8 Pro - 64bit
Intel Core i5-3570k CPU @ 3.40GHz
Ram: 16 GB
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series
I updated my graphics driver via the Radeon site and it is version: 12.104-130328a-159787C-ATI
I waited via the online chat for 4 hours just for the rep to tell me to post here. I don't understand what the problem could be, I even rolled back to previous versions of my display driver and still nothing. I also tried out CS6 and CS5 and I still have the same problems.

Keep in mind I can play all of my game at ultra settings and do not have one problemYour video card driver does have some kind of problem, and it caused at least one crash.
You need to work with AMD to resolve your driver issues. -
Photoshop CS3 crashing and installation getting 'stuck'
Last week Photoshop CS3 started crashing when trying to select a new file to open.
This didn't seem related to any particulr file and appeared to be random.
Error message was "an unrecoverable problem has occurred, Photoshop will now quit"
Actully it didn't quit and had to be force quit.
This was happenning sporadically, but today it happened every time I tried to open any image file.
Thinking it was a good idea to re-install, I tried that but the installation got 'stuck' and couldn't be completed.
A few minutes into the installation, prompts appeared asking for the CS4 Flash disk [which we bought seperately]
and then asked for the CS3 Application disk again. That disk was put in the drive and a minute or so later it asks for the CS3 Application disk.
Which is the disk it already has...
Has anyone else had this odd situation and found a solution?

Photoshop CS2 crashing and restarting my computer!
I just finished installing it free via adobe's site. Every time I try to use it, it runs fine for about 3 minutes, then crashes the computer and restarts it!! I've tried this about 3 times already and it has happened every time. Did I do something wrong? What can I do to fix it? Any help is appreciated!
Serial numbers with software are published on http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html web page at no cost, which means "for free".
You can download it and start installation at no cost, no extra conditions or agreements required.
Blog post published on http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2013/01/update-on-cs2-and-acrobat-7-activation-server s.html says "this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free", admitting that this kind of interpretation is possible.
EULA displayed during installation says license is granted if software comes from Adobe, so in the moment end user accepts this EULA, it means he has the license granted FOR FREE - isn't it? -
Photoshop CS4 crashes and shuts down without warning.
I have installed the new CS4 upgrade, and I have disabled the GPU. I have just upgraded to 2MB of RAM. However, PSD CS4 will suddenly shut down without warning at unpredictable times - yesterday it happened when I zoomed in past 200% - today it happened when I hit Save For Web. Really annoying. Any ideas?

Photoshop (CS4) crashed and now won't open

I'm been spending most of the day searching for similar threads here, but haven't found a solution...
A couple days ago photoshop hung, I tried to forcequit without luck so I shut the computer off and back on, and since then it won't load. when I click the icon it just bounces in the dock and then disappears. I don't even get to the splash screen.
I had a similar problem with InDesign... and now I noticed Illustrator too won't open.
Bridge works fine though.
Is there any preference files or anything else I can delete?
I tried fixing permissions, that didn't do anything. I am fairly new to the mac so not too sure what else I can do.
Again, sorry if this has been posted before, I haven't found a solution from the threads I found. Thanks
P.S. I tried creating a new user in is osx 10.5.7 and that too wouldn't solve the problem. I'm on a Macbook pro 4gb ram pleanty hd.... etc..I don't know what is causing it but I would say a corrupt font us font explorer to find corrupt fonts then do a search for AdobeFnt and trash these files
except for any ending .db. Then trash the settings folder again, apologize for the ai error of course I mean the PS then see if that works.
You can also disable all fonts except the system fonts and see if that clears things then it is a font.
If this fails then you have to do an archival reinstall of your system and that should clear things.. -
Photoshop has crashed and it will not reopen.
I was working on a file and just had saved it. After it had completed the saving process, i proceeded to open my next file, but it wasn't there, it had disappeared. So I proceeded to restart the program. It wouldn't close so I had to force quit, and then my computer froze. I then had proceed to do a hard restart. I logged in, and tried to open photoshop and gave me two windows: 1. could not load actions because an end-of-file was encountered. 2. could not intialize photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted). So i tried resetting photoshop to find out that the file that i needed to that, was mysteriously absent. I then proceeded to check my external hardrive to make sure that i had the files, those too had disappeared.
If the whole computer locked up, you're looking at an OS bug, a low level driver bug, or defective hardware.
From the sound of it, your disk might be going bad.
