Photoshop CS stop responding Windows 7

I have installed photoshop CS on a Dell Latitude e6520. The installation completes successfully and I was able to active the product via the telephone. However when I go to launch the product it get all the way to the work area and then when I attempt to click anyhwere in the application it says "Not Responding" and then closes the application. I have updated the nVidia Driver thinking it maybe a grahphics driver issue but still no luck. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the product about a dozen times with no luck. What can I do to fix this problem.
Thanks

Thanks again.
2. I was not aware that PS had update or patches...how or where can I obtain the updates/patches?
With all other Adobe programs shut down, launch Bridge, go to Help>Update. This should update all Adobe programs, if there are any available.
3. We do have real-time anti-virus running..however i cant disable that since I am in a corperate environment...I know for a fact the guys in security will have a fit if I did that.I dont suspect this is the issue because the other laptops (6510's) I did have the exact same software.
This is going to read a bit like a Sherlock Holmes novel, but I would try to determine all of the differences between the computer, where PS works, and the one, where PS does not launch. I would look at MSCONFIG and the Startup and Services Tabs, and compare.
Also, you can go to the Task Manager on each, and compare the Processes. In an IT environment, I doubt that you install a utility, such as Process Explorer, which will do the same as the Process Tab in Task Manager, but better, and in much more detail.
Something is different, and the task is to find out what that difference is.
Good luck, and maybe buy your IT contact a 12-pack of his/her favorite brew, or a nice bottle of wine. Get on their good-side, and ask for help. Few IT folk really know many of the "big" Adobe graphics, or video programs, but they DO know their OS's. Maybe the two of you will be able to find that difference.

  • Photoshop CS3 stopped responding

for no explicable reason PS3 has stopped responding to a variety of commands and particularly to 'print'. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling
both photoshop and the Epson printer software - all to no avail. Could the problem lie with the Operating system which is Windows Vista Home Premium and if so how should I best proceed ?
    Malcatglos

What is the point of this? I need the Epson printer to print my photographic work. For the record I have previously deleted both installed printers and then reinstalled them. I would also mention that if I connect my laptop to the Epson printer the Photohop CS3 installed thereon has no problem responding to the print command. The problem only exists on my main desktop computer. The obvious conclusion is that the software has become corrupted but since I have uninstalled both Photoshop and the Epson software and then reinstalled them from their respective CDs. I am at a loss to understand where the problem lies. Could it be with the operating system ie Vista? If this has become corrupted in some way how do resolve it?

  • Creative Cloud Illustrator & Photoshop 'has stopped working' - 'windows is checking for a solution..

    Hello,
Up until recently, Photoshop & Illustrator stopped working. When I would open the program it would begin to load and then come up with the message ' Adobe Photoshop has stopped working'
After which there would be another message ' Windows is checking for  solution to the problem'
and then finally ' A problem caused the program to stop working correctly, windows will lose the program and notify you if a solution is available.'
Indesign on startup seems to load normally and is fine.
Do help, time is of the essence.
    Thank you,
    Tanya

This is the simplest fix, if you're still having a problem with it.  I had the same problem, am running Windows 8.1.  Just be sure to reboot after you copy the dll (dynamic link library) file indicated.
    Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Let me know if you have a problem.

    I understannd it's a graphics card error. I am currently using a R9 290X.
I changed to another R9 290X but am still having the same issue. I believe the graphic card is not compatible. Are there any patches I can download to solve this problem?
I need photoshop for work and I would really hate to have to go out and change my graphics card again..
    Please let me know!
    Thank you

That is a high end card and should work fine.  It is crashing on the card/driver.  Do you have the latest driver?  Be sure to get it from ATI website not MS.  Should be at least catalysist 13.2

  • Photoshop CS6 stops responding. Will not allow saving of a document.

System is Windows xp pro 32 bit with 3GB ram. Cannot save or even close out photoshop. Need to end task and start over again. Sometimes documant will be recovered sometimes not.

I scoured through the event viewer and have seen nothing in terms of error messages or warnings. System overall is quite stable which is why I have been slow to upgrade OS's. With regard to programs, processes and services, I have reexamined this list to ensure nothing was shut off inadvertently. Over the years I have tuned this OS to run quite efficiently eliminating unneeded resource hogs. Thank you so much for providing ideas and suggestions.
What I find quite odd is that when the program becomes unresponsive or maybe unstable is more accurate, some filters still function while others do not. Usually it's the larger filters like liquify and others that refuse to show up when called. It’s also that time when the program refuses to save, save as etc. but I can still do small tasks within the program like paint, add layer etc. There seems to be adequate resources available yet if I either try to save through the menu or through key stroke nothing happens. You can’t even close a document by X’ing out. It just ignores the request.
Thankfully, I can work around the issue by saving frequently and closing and restarting. But this is quite annoying.
Thank you to all for offering tips and suggestions.

Try resetting your Photoshop preferences Start Photoshop and immediately press and hold Shift+Alt|Option+CTRL|CMD. Photoshop should prompt asking if you want your preferences deleted respond Yes.

  • Itunes has stopped responding

I have tried every thing suggested i this forum about fixing this. The message I get is that iTunes has stopped responding, Windows is looking for a solution to the problem. Then it wants to close iTunes. This only happens when i try to access the store. My music and podcasts and everything else works fine. Just can't go to the store. Just downloaded the lates and greates version of iTunes. Below is the error i get in the event viewer and of course windows Tech support is no help. Never ever had an error in the event viewer had a solution to a problem of any kind.

  • Photoshop stops responding when creating a 11x8.5 collage

I've been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for a couple of months to create 11x8.5 photo collage's as part of my digital scrapbook. Yesterday, when I tried to create a new collage the program stopped responding and forced me to close it. It will only do this with an 11x8.5, it's not a problem for any other size, unfortunetly the rest of my pages are 11x8.5 so I really need to be able to use this size! What could possibly be causing this?

I have this same problem and the suggestion didn't help me.  Does anyone know of a solution?
I've tried it in both the Organizer and Editor interfaces and tried selecting and de-selecting the box indicating "Autofill with Selected Images".
    8.50 x 11.00 works fine, but 11.00 x 8.50 - crashes every time.
"Adobe Photoshop Elemets 11 has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Would love to find a solution.

  • Photoshop Stops Responding

Here's a weird one. I go to make a mask using a simple rectangular selection, and when I click the Mask icon Photoshop stops responding. I made some screen shots to show what I mean.
I've tried doing this several times and keep getting the same results. I even upped the memory usage to 81% (2636 MB) and it still shuts down when I go to make the mask. I'm running Photoshop CS3 on Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) with 4Gigs of RAM. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. My video drivers are current and my fonts are fine. However, you did remind me of one thing - I just recently put a couple FAP plugins in the PS plugins folder. I have removed those two plugins and now everything seems to be working fine. I wonder when FAP will fix that issue? They're suppose to be coming out with a new version of FAP for Windows, but they seem to be dragging their feet on that one.
    Thanks!

  • Windows Server 2012 - Hyper-V - iSCSI SAN - All Hyper-V Guests stops responding and extensive disk read/write

We have a problem with one of our deployments of Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V with a 2 node cluster connected to a iSCSI SAN.
    Our setup:
Hosts - Both run Windows Server 2012 Standard and are clustered.
HP ProLiant G7, 24 GB RAM, 2 teamed NIC dedicated to Virtual Machines and Management, 2 teamed NIC dedicated to iSCSI storage. - This is the primary host and normaly all VMs run on this host.
HP ProLiant G5, 20 GB RAM, 1 NIC dedicated to Virtual Machines and Management, 2 teamed NIC dedicated to iSCSI storage. - This is the secondary host that and is intended to be used in case of failure of the primary host.
We have no antivirus on the hosts and the scheduled ShadowCopy (previous version of files) is switched of.
    iSCSI SAN:
    QNAP NAS TS-869 Pro, 8 INTEL SSDSA2CW160G3 160 GB i a RAID 5 with a Host Spare. 2 Teamed NIC.
    Switch:
DLINK DGS-1210-16 - Both the network cards of the Hosts that are dedicated to the Storage and the Storage itself are connected to the same switch and nothing else is connected to this switch.
    Virtual Machines:
    3 Windows Server 2012 Standard - 1 DC, 1 FileServer, 1 Application Server.
1 Windows Server 2008 Standard Exchange Server.
All VMs are using dynamic disks (as recommended by Microsoft).
    Updates
We have applied the most resent updates to the Hosts, WMs and iSCSI SAN about 3 weeks ago with no change in our problem and we continually update the setup.
    Normal operation
Normally this setup works just fine and we see no real difference in speed in startup, file copy and processing speed in LoB applications of this setup compared to a single host with 2 10000 RPM Disks. Normal network speed is 10-200 Mbit, but occasionally
we see speeds up to 400 Mbit/s of combined read/write for instance during file repair
    Our Problem
Our problem is that for some reason all of the VMs stops responding or responds very slowly and you can for instance not send CTRL-ALT-DEL to a VM in the Hyper-V console, or for instance start task manager when already logged in.
Symptoms (i.e. this happens, or does not happen, at the same time)
I we look at resource monitor on the host then we see that there is often an extensive read from a VHDX of one of the VMs (40-60 Mbyte/s) and a combined write speed to many files in \HarddiskVolume5\System Volume Information\{<someguid and no file extension>}.
    See iamge below.
The combined network speed to the iSCSI SAN is about 500-600 Mbit/s.
When this happens it is usually during and after a VSS ShadowCopy backup, but has also happens during hours where no backup should be running (i.e. during daytime when the backup has finished hours ago according to the log files). There is however
not that extensive writes to the backup file that is created on an external hard drive and this does not seem to happen during all backups (we have manually checked a few times, but it is hard to say since this error does not seem leave any traces in event
    viewer).
We cannot find any indication that the VMs themself detect any problem and we see no increase of errors (for example storage related errors) in the eventlog inside the VMs.
The QNAP uses about 50% processing Power on all cores.
We see no dropped packets on the switch.
(I have split the image to save horizontal space).
Unable to recreate the problem / find definitive trigger
We have not succeeded in recreating the problem manually by, for instance, running chkdsk or defrag in VM and Hosts, copy and remove large files to VMs, running CPU and Disk intensive operations inside a VM (for instance scan and repair a database file).
    Questions
Why does all VMs stop responding and why is there such intensive Read/Writes to the iSCSI SAN?
Could it be anything in our setup that cannot handle all the read/write requests? For instance the iSCSI SAN, the hosts, etc?
What can we do about this? Should we use MultiPath IO instead of NIC teaming to the SAN, limit bandwith to the SAN, etc?

    Hi,
    > All VMs are using dynamic disks (as recommended by Microsoft).
If this is a testing environment, it’s okay, but if this a production environment, it’s not recommended. Fixed VHDs are recommended for production instead of dynamically expanding or differencing VHDs.
Hyper-V: Dynamic virtual hard disks are not recommended for virtual machines that run server workloads in a production environment
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee941151(v=WS.10).aspx
    > This is the primary host and normaly all VMs run on this host.
According to your posting, we know that you have Cluster Shared Volumes in the Hyper-V cluster, but why not distribute your VMs into two Hyper-V hosts.
Use Cluster Shared Volumes in a Windows Server 2012 Failover Cluster
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj612868.aspx
    > 2 teamed NIC dedicated to iSCSI storage.
Use Microsoft MultiPath IO (MPIO) to manage multiple paths to iSCSI storage. Microsoft does not support teaming on network adapters that are used to connect to iSCSI-based storage devices. (At least it’s not supported until Windows Server 2008 R2. Although
Windows Server 2012 has built-in network teaming feature, I don’t article which declare that Windows Server 2012 network teaming support iSCSI connection)
    Understanding Requirements for Failover Clusters
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771404.aspx
    > I have seen using MPIO suggests using different subnets, is this a requirement for using MPIO
    > or is this just a way to make sure that you do not run out of IP adressess?
What I found is: if it is possible, isolate the iSCSI and data networks that reside on the same switch infrastructure through the use of VLANs and separate subnets. Redundant network paths from the server to the storage system via MPIO will maximize availability
and performance. Of course you can set these two NICs in separate subnets, but I don’t think it is necessary.
    > Why should it be better to not have dedicated wireing for iSCSI and Management?
It is recommended that the iSCSI SAN network be separated (logically or physically) from the data network workloads. This ‘best practice’ network configuration optimizes performance and reliability.
Check that and modify cluster configuration, monitor it and give us feedback for further troubleshooting.

  • IE 11 Does not load pages and "Stops Responding" After 11/26/2013 Windows Update

I have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. IE 11. (Doesn't matter if I try to open 32 or 64 bit IE)
I keep Automatic Updates on and they install as soon as they are available.
Everything on my PC was running fine 11/25/13.
I came to it 11/26/13 after Windows Updates ran and now whenever I open any webpages, it does not load the web page 100%, no hyperlinks can be clicked on and once you attempt to click on anything. I get the "IE 11 has stopped responding" bubble.
It also seemed to affect Firefox which does not completely load pages either.
Any shove in the correct way to help solve this would be helpful.

    Robert -
Anyone who has gathered over 13,000 points is certainly to be respected as being super smart and uber helpful.  However, your response is inadequate on two counts.
First, "stopped working" is not an inexact phrase, nor is it a euphemism trotted out by a newbie who hasn't the skill to describe the problem accurately. "stopped working" is an exact part of the error message issued by Windows.  Of course it would
help if Windows would issue error messages that are more useful, but that is a different issue. For the purposes of this discussion, "stopped working" as part of the exact error message is a useful piece of information.
Second, despite your excellent suggestions for hunting down the problem, I'm guessing that few people here have the time or inclination to be beta testers for Microsoft.  Even if the exact cause is found, it is not likely that anyone here will
be able to fix the problem.  There are literally hundreds of people complaining about this problem in multiple forums.  If you know your consumer behavior metrics, then you know that means tens of thousands are affected.  This is systemic, not
a random problem on a few errant machines.  Microsoft needs to know that they have a major problem on their hands and they need to fix it.  I saw this problem starting with IE 10.  Is it any wonder that in that time, IE usage has fallen greatly
while Chrome has become the dominant browser?  (The only reason I am bothering to write instead of just shifting to Chrome is that Chrome also has its bugs, one of which affects a web app I use several times a week, so I need a functioning version of
    IE.)
So thanks Robert for all your help in the past, but this response isn't helpful.
Microsoft, are you listening?  Fix your browser.

  • Windows stops responding and closes when I try to print

I have IE 9 on a vista 64 bit.  Recently I had some problems with print jobs staying in the que.  I resolved that and reinstalled the printer and drivers.  I have a photosmart 5514.  Ever since that day I can't print off a webpage.  Coupons, bank statements etc.  It says windows stopped responding and closes the webpage.  I have been unable to fix this.  Also since that day my microsoft works wont' work.  It says I have corrupted fonts!

It is a wireless connection.  What happened first after a year of flawless performance was I was asked to print a statement from my banks website.  I tried several times and it kept shutting down with the windows error above.  I was unable to print anything from that moment on.  I spent half the day finding the problem and discovered my WP network key was changed.  I have no idea how trying to print from the banks site did that.  I called them to report the situation since it was so strange.  Even asked them if they knew what that number even was.  I still had issued so I just uninstalled the printer and used my installation disc to set it up again.  Now I can print off my documents, PDF or Word but my Works files come up with the message that the font cache is missing or renamed.  When I searched that I found it isn't uncommon and that it is usually a corrupted printer driver.  I loaded it off my CD from HP.  Not sure what to do now other than try to uninstall and reinstall.  Just haven't had a time with work to do that yet.  Also when I try to print off an email, webpage or even a coupon it does the windows has to shut down message.  This will be my last HP printer.  I have problems all the time with them and have owned nothing but HP for over 20 years.  Four computers and printers in the house right now.  I just can't deal with que issues and buying new printers every two years because I have a home office and must have it working.
